Title: Beach Belle rare..? And all chewed up...?
Post by: ZettaMomo on February 10, 2012, 08:41:38 PM
This is just upsetting on my part.
 :yikes:
Earlier this week dad and I went out pony hunting at the second hand stores and I ended up grabbing a few really sad looking G3 ponies to take home and clean up. I picked up a nice little blue pony with long hair thinking I could fix it up and add her to my collection and bait the worse off pony. When I got home I realized that the pony's poor face and front hooves were all chewed up. I placed her aside and was thinking about baiting her and thought I should do some research first since I had never seen the pony before.
Then on Strawberry Reef I found out I had Beach Belle and that she was valued around $75.
Ugh.

Just look at this poor girl!

I don't want to bait her now that I know her value, but those bite marks are just so hard to look at (that and her hair is super dry and needs to be fixed).

The bite marks are really weird too... Looks like a small dog or a cat chewed on it..

Well the dry hair can easily be fixed with a little conditioner, but those chew marks... :yikes: I'm sure she'd still be wanted by a G3 collector though, even with the chew marks ;)

Yes I don't think she looks too bad!
I had no idea Beach Belle was worth so much, how come?

She doesn't look too bad! Just use a hair straightener at around 180F for a little while and her hair will be fine. n_n
Also, why IS she so much? I saw her on eBay a few times for less than that but never thought to look twice. :o

I don't think she looks so bad either; I'm sure there's a g3 collector out there that wants her.

She's HTF and expensive because she's a limited-release g3; was only available at Menard's Hardware Stores along with Caribbean Delight - and Menards stores aren't nation-wide, either (midwest only, if I'm not mistaken.)  I also think the SLH g3s are generally popular and those two have *always* been popular.

Congrats on your finds; she's still a pretty pony!  :)

Hmmm... Well if G3 collectors may still be interested in her I might consider selling her once I fix her hair up.

i recommend just try condition or fabric softener and gently comb the hair out, let it air dry around a hoof or neck. Don't use heat on synthetic hair if it can be helped, as some collectors won't like it.
She doesn't look that bad. I think you could get maybe $10 to $20 for her.

If I hadn't just bought a MIB set, I'd buy her from you.  She is hard to find and I don't think the chew marks are too horrible.  Least she's not missing chunks of plastic, lol.

Oooo lucky find! She doesn't look too bad at all, I'm sure she will fix up nicely and someone will take her!

Congrats on your find and I am sure even with the marks a G3 collector will happily be on the look out for her...

Aww, poor girl. At least the chew marks don't look too bad, I've found ponies that have holes chewed into them! (Hopefully from a pet, not a person!). I'm sure you would be able to find a buyer if you decide to sell her :)

Once I clean up her hair I'll probably take some more pictures and see if someone will offer. I won't expect too high for her since she does have damage, but I think she might make a collector happy.

I think so too.  She is one of the more sought after G3 ponies and looks beautiful regardless of of her animal attack XD  I agree with getting $10-$20 mark.  Maybe just do a really good hairdo and some nice pics?

I think the little chew marks give her personality!  I'd give her a whole back-story about how she was adventuring through the Arctic and had to fend off wild and savage penguins:). I know there are a lot of collectors here who will love and cherish her, chew marks and all!  You know what I think will happen, you will put time into fixing her up, then you will love her so much you'll want to keep her (at least that's what happens to me)!
Congrats by the way on finding second-hand store ponies.

I also agree that the chew marks don't look bad. I'm sure they could actually be fixed fairly well. :3

FPM = FlyingPonyMonsters - she's a user here (PonyMonsters' wife) and we usually just abbreviate her name instead of typing it out :P

Looks like cat bites. I would not customize her. She's quite rare. I live in a state with Menards stores and I haven't found a single one of her in a thrift store yet. I'm sure they didn't sell many per store at all.

I think with a little TLC she will be fine.   And it already looks like you have plenty of interest in her!

She's definitely not an easy find, congrats. Geez, I'd almost consider her to be a G3 "US Nirvana pony"-lol! (She's so limited in production.) She's really not a hard one to sell. Good luck!

She's a very pretty pony :) Congrats on finding her even if she is a bit munched!

I'm actually surprised I found her. Usually I have bad luck with finding pony merch at second hand stores, but suddenly I seeming to have good luck. We have so many second hand stores here and I have only found pony items at two stores.
Her hair is not cooperating too well with me, but I will probably pop her onto the For Sale forum sometime this week after I work on it a little more. Thank you for the interest everypony!
