Title: PayPal trouble
Post by: bright rabbit 1 on January 22, 2019, 06:06:32 AM
As the title says having trouble with PayPal, won a item on eBay.uk the receipt came through saying that it’s been paid. Went to review products and check on the item I won, it said it’s unpaid.

Don’t know what to do.

Ok.
You won an item.
Did you pay? If so, did you check to see if the money was taken from your paypal account.

If the paypal money was taken from your account.
1) email your seller confirming they received the payment.
2) call ebay and tell them the issue if your seller says no or doesn't get back to you in a timely manner.

Sometimes the interface doesn't always update. It's not anything to worry about if you paid.

Double check the funds have actually gone out of your PayPal or bank account. Also refresh your eBay page as sometimes it doesn’t automatically update.

It says it’s still pending, contacted the seller and they said they’re going to contact eBay to see what’s going on.

I’ll keep you all updated on this.

1) Did paypal take money out of your account?

Does it say pending in your paypal? Or does it say pending in your ebay?

2) Did the buyer say they haven't received their payment (as far as they know?)

Because they might have to go into paypal and actually accept a payment. It will happen to some accounts if they are new, or haven't done a lot of selling in general.

I'm taking a wild guess it says unpaid on ebay, and pending in paypal. In that case the seller needs to accept the payment for the transaction to go through.

Your guess is correct, this hasn’t happened before.

No worries on your end. Now your seller is aware, then they just need to resolve it on their end. So the communication helped moved the process a bit quicker, if that makes sense.

You can call Paypal at 888-221-1161. I was told the number is the same worldwide. Good luck!

It's not. The UK number for customer service is 0800 358 7911 (I just went and checked it from their site). I wouldn't advise calling the other number - aside the fact it's a US one so you'd need to add the US call code, it would cost a lot of money to call from the UK :)

IN any case, I think some accounts that are personal accounts and some that are registered in certain countries/different currencies require manual acceptance and some take a while to clear through. Contacting the seller was absolutely the right thing to do. I'm sure they'll resolve it.

I've had this happen a couple of times (mostly as a seller ) usually where the other person is in another country /has sent payment in a different currency and I've had to manually accept it.  The transactions went through fine after that.
You did the right thing by contacting the seller :)
