Title: Tip for removing G4 neck plugs
Post by: sweetlittlejenny on November 05, 2013, 08:22:02 AM: So, I just found a better way to remove a neck plug from a G4. Using an exacto knife is effective and works but can be dangerous for both you and your pony.
So I started looking for other ways to remove it.

I looked in my scrap booking tools and found the perfect thing!
It's a Cricut tool for removing paper pieces from their cutting mats.
I believe they call it a Scoop tool. It's slightly spoon shaped. I was able to push it between the neck and the plug all the way around and then scoop out the plug.

Worked wonders!

You still have to be careful but I think it's much safer and easier than the exacto knife.

Yep! Come to think of it there are probably a few similar tools that will work. I think I have a clay tool shaped similarly as well that would likely work.

I haven't done one of those yet. So I'm not much help. I just read people saying to use an exacto all the way around the wing base then pull them out. Maybe using this same type of tool could work?
