Title: Lets Talk pins!
Post by: LightingElectricDream on December 02, 2018, 01:40:44 PM
Hey guys!
I am back on the forum after about a 3 year hiatus.
Ive popped in here and there. I sorta lost a but of serious interest in ponies. But now I am rekindling my love.

Alot of my interest has gone to Enamel pins..why? Beacuse I can get just about everything as a pin.

So when Studio BMFC now called G1 collective started making pins I had to have them all. And I really like them very much. Fauxfox studios came out with a bunch too sea ponies!!!

I dont have my photo bucket set up. So tell me who your favorites are!

Mine are my adult sea ponies and my raincurl ponies.

I love enamel pins! I've been collecting them from everyone (I have most of the pins produced by all those you mentioned above ;D ).

I started making pins myself earlier in the year. I still have some Gusty and Gypsy left. I also have Tux & Tails and Satin & Lace pins coming up.

Personal life got in the way of going full steam but I hope 2019 will have more opportunity for more pins!

My favorite pin is the silver G3 I have from the Fair for the anniversary. :D

I love pins! It's neat that they're starting to become more popular for small artists to make. I'm scared of them falling off so I put them on my ita bag.
I've got a good handful of the G1 Collective releases, mostly earlier ones. I did get all of the pony fair exclusives as well. I'm on the hunt for more pony pins, mostly. I do have a few non-pony pins too, mostly Disney.

Glad to see some pin collectors. I had to slow down on my other collections because I don't have room for them. So my new Collective Outlet is enamel pin collecting mostly because I can get a pin of just about everything I like and the shipping is extremely cheap.

I am also starting to get into pins, but I would like to know how you all display them.  I have so many that are just sitting on their cards in a jumble.

I have more on my DA page and way more I still need to make.  I'm hoping to get more done this winter.  I would LOVE to get some of these beautiful pony pins and create some artwork to pop those into!

Oh wow I really like that idea Pokeyonekenobie!  Did you pierce the canvas with the pin or did you remove the pin and glue them on?

I do enjoy dabbling in pins. I don't have much for enamel besides a cool x-mas pony that was a gift and a few select Disney ones. Now for button type pins, I've got a random assortment...

I just pierce the canvas with the pin and use the pin back to hold it on.  You just have to be careful of where the wood frames are as they can get in the way and you don't want to accidentally bend/break your pin post.  Most canvas just has it around the edges but the larger ones will usually have a stabilizing piece across the middle somewhere.

I looove small artist pins that reflects their own art style (like what I see in artist alleys, and on IG and such).

I'm not sure if there are pony pin makers doing that? (I've mostly just seen g1 art pins).

Pokeyonekenobie that is really cool.  Do you ever plan on using fabric as a background?  I imagine you could get some amazing Disney-scapes on fabric... and be able to move them around!

I have a few pins... okay I probably have enough for a collection but I don't consider it such... they are souvenirs, that's all.  :)

I love the BMFC pins!  I have Princess Tiffany and Fizzy and they're both amazing!  I wish I had pictures on hand . . . Fizzy has gem eyes and Tiffany has a gem symbol.

Welcome back! :D

I'm afraid photobucket won't do much here anymore; not without a paid PB membership, anyway, and I can't say I know whether that will work or not (not having a paid PB membership). Most people are linking from Imgr now, as far as I know. :awake:

I sadly don't have any of the enamel pins from the ones you've mentioned. I love the Barnacle pin, though, so it's definitely on my "to buy" list! :) I do have the three pines that Sugar Bunny Shop made, though - her own art of G1 Twilight, Starshine, and Posey, though.

Now, where is this FauxFox studios of which you speak? :)

I haven't really thought about using fabric for the backgrounds, but it could be something that someone who prefers sewing to painting could create and have a lot of fun with.

omg, Pokeyonekenobie, your pin displays are stunning! I love them!!

I have an old collection of Disney pins in storage but otherwise not much of a pin person.. I like them but I'm never sure what to do with them XP Can't use them cause I'm always scared they'll fall off and get lost. But I love seeing others' collections ^_^

Grl, this is one of my most wanted pins! I also cannot wait for your Tux & Tails  + Satin & Lace, the images I saw at the Fair look incredible, and good things are always worth the wait. <3

Thank you! *^.^* Can't wait to make the set. I'm thinking to make something in a more "personal" style next, maybe with the flair from the "Firefly's Adventure" TV special.
