I absolutely LOVE a lot of the seemingly unpopular or at least less talked-about g1 pony lines. The sundazzles, rockin’ beats, sweetheart sister, and baby brother ponies to name a few! Do people not like them or have I just missed all the conversations? Feel free to ask me why *I* like them if you don’t see the appeal or w/e, maybe we can start a conversation about them here!

The Sundazzles and SHS are simply lost in the crowd
The Rock n Beats are divisive
I like all 3 Sundazzles. Sun Splasher is on my wishlist.

Rockin' Beats were the only complete set I had as a kid. I love them now too. I have seven I think. All my childhood ones and the US/alternate versions of Tunefull, Half Note and Pretty Beat. I didn't find one for Sweet Notes yet, but she must exist...it must just be subtle...
There are other fans of the SHS around here. I love the glittering and the prom queen sets. :)
The baby bros are fanatically popular xD.
Sets that get mixed receptions that I really like include the Brush & Grows and the Perfume Puffs. All about the hair ;) And I don't care what anyone says, I genuinely love Mimic. I had her before I knew she was expensive, so it's for no other reason than I adore her colour scheme and her pretty gem eyes.

I love Mimic too. I wish she wasn’t so popular.
Baby Brothers, Rock & Beats and many of the later releases were kind of “after” my time. I don’t remember them coming out at all so they never made it to my want list.
But I do think those ponies are pretty popular among collectors just because they are a bit more obscure and hard to find.

@ kingluke: i have her, she’s a huuuge favorite along with TAF buttons, i cant get enough of that color scheme. i like bright/obnoxious/clashing colors so much lmao. big reason why i like the rockin beats and sundazzles
@ leave a whisper: i really love the different body shape they have, its so elegant and idk interesting? thats not a good word but idk shdhskd. im glad they just get kinda lost instead of hated! and the drink n wets are cute! like the gimmick is weird but the ponies themselves are cute! i like the ducky one

@StayGoldPonyBoy - the puffies are very much a love/hate set for people, mainly because of the hair. I love the hair, I love how it holds the perfume (which unlike the other scented releases is not horrible) and it's quite therapeutic to groom (for me, because I am a big fan of pony hair). It's quite satisfying :) Or I'm odd. Either or. :D
The Brush and Grows I was always fascinated by. Braided Beauty had so much hair O.O As a kid I was so excited by that...she had SO many experimental braidings, curlings, stylings and such through my childhood...

I have taf buttons as well. I hope green tootsie is as lovely as her. My current grail is tuneful, but im still busy completing sets.

Baby Rainfeather is my favorite with Flicker second. I actually do like Snookums too, but she's so similar to Noddins.
I like the first set of BnGs myself. Curlylocks, Ringlets, Braided Beauty and Pretty Vision are such pretty girls with the lushest, thickest, hair on any toy. Soft too.
I also enjoy the Flip n Flows. It just irks me that that set has a unique gimmick for the brand, yet are plagued by Mane Suxx fever with literally NO new characters. What's the point of making a movie with new characters and barely selling them at all? That's dumb! They're dumb!
Had Hasbro been in its right mind like it was in from G1 to G3, we would have gotten Flip n Flow Haven Bay, Novo, Skystar, Silver Stream and whats-her-face. Instead of Rainbowdash, Twilight Shartle and Pinkie Poop. I did grab FnF RD and TS for customs however.

Running Press Firefly. She gets a lot of hate and it's really unfair! Just because she wasn't a perfect scaled-down replica of the original FF like some folks apparently expected, doesn't mean she's not adorable, dangit :silly:

I LOVE the So Softs with their flocking, rubs or not! It’s what made them unique :heart:
I only have one Rockin’ Beat, but their color schemes are awesome and definitely scream 80’s vibes!
In G3, it’s the Sunny Scents line and the Best Friends line that seems VERY underrated. Their scents are very different, with only coconut repeating twice! Citrus Sweetheart, Thistle Whistle and Party Cake are the best smelling of the bunch imo.

To be honest, I'm not sure how people feel about them and if they're unpopular or not, but I absolutely love the tropical ponies. I love their fun symbols and their bright, vibrant colors. She's less unpopular and more underrated, but I live Cheerilee :lovey: She's just got the prettiest color scheme. I like Shady too, for how bright her colors are and how weird her theme is.

I really love the Secret Surprise Ponies. They are just such a sweet, pretty set. Pretty Puff and Secret Star are my faves. If only. :lovey:
The Precious Pockets are super cute! I wouldn't mind having all of them.
I love almost everything about the Soda Sippins except for their stupid upper lip piercings. Hasbro musta been absolutely sloshed during the design of that otherwise adorable set. I wanna grab Chocolate Delight and pay someone to fill in her cow ring hole. I also want their accessories! :frolic:

Cheerilee and Cherry Blossom (g3) both have stunning colour schemes.
Shady is amazing. Especially the movie star one, all that pink and neon without the fur works best.
Over here Hula Hula is the one with the palm trees, and my sister had her new as a child. I never had any tropical ponies from new but Naynie's Huli always made a strong impression on me because of those vibrant shades.
Sailaway (the UK name for the one with the boat) I got later from a clearance store, and she's also stunning. I had one from a US lot a while back and her colours are subtly different from my UK bought one, so I kept both of them. Can't have too much colour!

YALL so I just discovered g3 so softs and oh my g-d I need like 20. They’re so cuuuute 😍. Some of the 3.5 newborn ones are a litte creepy (like the crawling ones) but holy crap if I ever get my hands on Bright Night or Tripsy Daisy I’ll die of happiness.
I feel like I probably wanted one of these as a kid but my mom told me I was too old for those ones or something haha. I have a huge weakness for those old teddy bears with the babydoll faces and these have like the same vibe for me only cute and pastel horses instead!
I’m assuming these are unpopular because I didn’t even know they existed hha

Not sure if she is unpopular exactly, but I adore Flutterbye :heart: Her colors are awesome, but it doesn’t seem like she is on top of the popular lists.

The rise of the reboot G4s made G3.5s less ugly to me. Apparently nothing can be uglier to me than large, spherical, hard plastic heads.
Looked up the G3.5 moms with babies and I have to say, I do like these momares! Especially RD's mom.

These are precious, I also adore them and want to collect all of them! I had Petal Dove, Good Morning Sunshine and Soaky Doaky when I was little, I still have Petal Dove as well as Bright Night and now Soapy Smiles.
Hmm unpopular ponies...I suppose I like the Perfume Puffs a lot as well! Predictably BBEs, as well as Fancy Pants babies. I also really love TAF Buttons and green Tootsie like a few other people have mentioned. Perhaps Skippity Doo qualifies? Because she is one of my absolute faves. I love Magic Message Cuddles too, she is precious with her soft blue and yellow color scheme, although she seems to be pretty unpopular. Ah I'm not sure if Snuzzle counts? But she's my second favorite G1. A lot of people don't seem fond of the gray.
G2: I mean I think liking G2 period is unpopular in some places, but Miss Painter is growing on me >u<
G3...I adore Ponyville and I'm trying to collect as many as possible! I just love how small and yet how good quality they are, and it's neat seeing so many of my beloved childhood ponies in almost a chibi-fied form hehe
I partially grew up with G3.5 so I personally don't mind them! I love the Newborn Cuties as well as the moms. Rainbow's mom is also my favorite, I was lucky enough to find her in a thrift store!
G4: Applejack is my fave, hands-down. Apparently this is considered an unpopular opinion because she's somehow 'a jerk' but Rainbow Dash gets a free pass on that I guess. Also a moment of silence for Sombra, who never got a toy release but totally would have been my fave if he had :cry:

The liquid? White I'd imagine. Like those baby bottles full of milk or orange juice that disappeared and reappared as your doll drank it.

I never thought I would want a Rockin' Beat pony, at all, let alone Sweet Notes, who from every photo I thought was hideous. The most hideous of the bunch.
I got her in a lot one day, not even that long ago only last August, fulling intending to give her to a kid I know. I somehow fell in love with her and now I am looking for a handful of 60s Mattel Kozmic Kiddles to be her minions, and she is one of the few ponies that stays on display at all times. :shrug: No idea what happened. And now I want Sunbeam the Sundazzle SHS to be her totally tubular teenage daughter. Another thing I never thought I would say in my life.
I also like the ballerinas, both baby and adult. I think they have very sweet faces.

I love the Moondancer pose, which I believe is pretty unpopular. I wouldn't want to see it used more than it was, but I think it's perfect for Moondancer and Sunbeam.
(I do think it looks odd on Sugar Sweet, because to me the pose looks like it belongs to an older, mature pony but then Sugar Sweet has those curls like she's Shirley Temple.)
I also love the Firefly pose. It's so adventurous and dynamic!

I looooove the sweet pocket ponies! I just think they are so cute!
Growing up I adored the dance and prance ponies and the drink and wet babies too... something about baby flicker! I just love everything about her!
I also, and might be the only one, but I truly love the two sweet talkin ponies.
Another set that isn’t really talked about that I simply adore are the euro flower ponies! Daffodil and snowdrop are so pretty!

The Tootsie and Gingerbread poses are my favorites. At one time I wanted a Tootsie pose army. I don't have the room for it now, but I might revisit the idea if I did have more room.
Oh! And I love the green Rollerskate pony (Jazzy?). There are not enough green ponies especially the bold green that she is.

Some of mine include BBE Lofty (I don't like BBEs, but she's adorable!), MM Windy, Sugar Sweet, the Drink 'n Wets, and the Baby Ballerinas are one of my favourite sets ever. :D I also really like the Tootsie pose!

Being UK, I'd never seen a BBE unicorn (we had Baby Cuddles wi "Lullabye eyes" but that's pretty much it) before I found Frosting, so wasn't sure for a bit she was actually MLP, until I saw BBE Gusty & Ribbon, then I realised she was!!! She's the reason I'm keeping the ones I have BBE, BBE, along wi Baby Sundance & Baby Sleepy Pie; just so those three have friends their age (imo the BBEs are younger than non-BBEs but older than Newborns).

There's been a lot of ponies I've been indifferent to, or even genuinely disliked, and then something changed and I fell in love. Most of them have been pretty unpopular lines.
Fancy Pants Babies - I was pretty 'meh' on these, but one day something just snapped, and I had to get them all - including the Argentina ones.
Dance 'n Prance - I *hated* these as a kid when they came out. Absolutely detested them. I thought they were trashy. Then I went to my first ponymeet waaaaay back in like '98 or '99. Someone had a working one, and I saw it in action for the first time. It was the funniest thing I'd ever seen, and I was in love! I have the full USA set, all complete and in perfect working condition(of course!) now:p
The UK Mummy Pony - A pony that gives birth isn't something I was really into. At all. I had very little interest in the whole thing for years. Then I went on bit of quest to fill in the holes in my UK/ Euro collection, and that was one of the last ones I needed. Two things happened at once - the price on this set started to skyrocket suddenly, and someone on the Arena had a pretty much mint one complete with babies for trade, and I had exactly what she wanted. Since it was a trade, it was basically free for me so I figured I'd better just get the thing now before the price became astronomical. If I really didn't like it, I could always trade/sell it later.
I got it in, and tried it out. From the first moment that little baby shot out like a missile, it was love!
I've always liked Magic Message ponies, and I don't think they're that popular either.

Mirror-Mirror & Magic Hat are imo most suited to the Magic Message concept, while Teddi (Cuddles to US peeps) is the cutest but I'm biased because blue & used to have lol. Cloud Dreamer, when you find her in decent condition, is also lovely. Her problem is she suffers heavily from symbol rubs

I really love her too. There are lots of other beautiful ponies in this pose too, like Cherries Jubilee and Snowflake, Merriweather and Raincurl.
I also think Shady may not be that popular but I gave mine a hairdo and I really like her.
I also love the Sweetheart Sister ponies and I'm hoping to find lace rribbons for them one day, plus Fancy Flower and Frilly flower who weren't realeased in the UK. I'm also trying to find combs for all my glittery Sweethearet Sister ponies but I think I only have Sunblossom's comb so far.
I also love the Fancy Pants babies, it started with GLider since, what's not to like about a purple unicorn? Then I discovered putting them in tutus and I decided I definitely need more of them.
I also love Magic Message ponies in spite of the symbol rubs, since the poses and colours are great and the symbols are my least favourite thing about them. I have Cuddles Teddi in good shape but the others are a set of symbolless MM ponies waiting for alternative symbols some day, I just need to get around to painting them.

I love the bushwoolies. I'm bent on getting Friendly (my childhood one) back this year. I want everyone except Cheery. Or was it Cheerful?
