Title: Can you rehair Petite ponies?
Post by: daffodil101 on April 24, 2015, 03:12:34 AM
A while ago i won three Bright Sight petites, who are in lovely condition except their tails are incurably frizzy.  I've never tried yanking out a petite's hair so not sure if it can be done.  I guess some pretty strong glue would be needed to set the new hair in place.  Has anyone ever tried or had an success?

Hmmm interesting! I've never thought about that in my 10+ years of collecting!

I guess you could cut the tails off and take small scissors or tweezers and try to get the rest out, then that a yank of hair and hot glue it in? Not sure if it's been done! Would love to hear what others have done/think!

Maybe try softening the glue with hot water and try to pull the hair out with pliers?

yes, one of my fellow german collectors did it. Soften the glue with hot water, pull out the tail (careful, you dont want to pull the tailbow too!!) and make a new one where you cap the end that will go into the pony with some sticky tape. Then put some glue into the hole in the tailbow and carefully put it in. Its a pretty sensitive task since petites are small, but if you take your time it will look very nice afterwards :)

Another option is a molded tail; I own a few petites that have gotten their tails replaced with some nice molded ones. Dont have a pic atm though :(

Any chance your friend would provide photos?

I do wish someone would take a tailless one and cast it in resin.

I have seen it done but as einhorn has mentioned you need to be really careful when pulling the tail out. :) And you cant add the tail in the same way the original was but by capping the hair in the same manner a shoelace ends you can get pretty close.
