See this is what I love/hate about collecting - variants of variants
so fizzy has two apparently and I thought I got the neon pink stripe but no, it's an error with pink tail and purple mane so
I was planning to sell my haircut /purple stripe but wanted to double check on is one or the other more common? I would also be interested in buying a neon pink spain fizzy if anyone has one up for sale/trade as then I would have a three-set (ya, know ;) for my kids)
anywhooo - here's pics and thanks in advance for shedding light on how common or rare these spain fizzy variations are :-)

oh and not sure if eye variation is a factor with this pair ... pink has pink eyes, and purple has pale (maybe just faded ?)
-
I think her eyes are pale pink :) You have a OOAK there too!
I've looked in the gallery and there are three versions :)

Pale pink eyes and purple stripe (like your girl on the right)
Bright pink eyes and bright pink stripe
Bright pink eyes and purple stripe (like your girl on the left, but with the "correct" tail)
I love your OOAK girl with the mismatched tail!

yeah that was a lucky ebay snag = I thought she was all neon pink and that was the variation instead of purple stripe.
Between the hand stamping of italy and the gem eye variations of spain those two countries give one plenty of excuses for a small army of variations
any idea if they are just different production runs? Actually - turned 'em over and the stamps are different. Did Spain have more than one manufacturer?

almost wonder if they are different molds...
-
I'd forgotten about the different hoof stamps!!
There do seem to be at least two runs of the TE ponies, but I don't think we've ever got to the bottom of it as they were all made by the same company.

Awesome... :dropjaw:
If it was me, I would definately keep both.
-
They're beautiful! I'd definitely keep both.
-
yeah... this is the "problem" I have with downsizing just when I think I'm ok to part with one... then = oh dang, a variant
so I would be interested in anyone selling their pink eye all pink stripe (mane and tail) spain fizzy if by some miracle ya don't like green ponies anymore ;-)
-
You see the two hoof stamp thing on some other ponies as well, typically those with Spain and NC variants. As far as I know they didn't have more than one manufacturer, but evidently they had at least two runs of quite a few ponies! :)
-
yeah I knew it was a milton bradley company did the piggy pose ponies for spain - with brekkar or some such I think ? So I wasn't sure if they did regular run Spain MLP as well and that's the basis for the variation, or if they only did piggy and I have no clue for the regular spanish manufacture-name
good reminder that some spain aren't stamped... I think all the TE's are though (runs off to check)
-
Oooh, your girls are super pretty! Congrats on having them <3
I think with the stamp difference, Id keep her (but Id keep any Fizzy lol)
For the topic-name question : I own purple-striped with light pink eyes, Spain stamp on her left hind leg!
-
oh thanks for the stamp update Einhorn (unicorn? I like that :-)!) ... ok, so I wonder if then the head is incorrect having the purple stripe since the spain stamp is on that one's right hoof
Anyone else own spanish fizzy out there? What are your MLP combos and relationship of hair color to hoof stamp?
-
I hope there are more people with spanish Fizzy out there *crossesfingers*
Btw I love the bright red stripe on your other Fizzy a loooot! Looks so cool :D
Einhorn (unicorn? I like that :-)!)
Hehe, yes, its baby unicorn in english :P (Einhorn = unicorn)
-
Angel ponies also had a fizzy with the neon stripe tail and purple in mane so I believe there are at least two of that one....

As far as I'm aware MB made all the TE ponies (and all the other regular ponies too) we have plenty of MOC evidence. I too remember wondering if two manufacturers were responsible for all the variants as with the piggies, but nope :P
You are right that piggies were made by MB and Brekar :)

This is so cool, I never knew of this variant! I hope you find your third Fizzy to complete the set

so bumping does anyone know if the magenta stripe was the more common? Was the neon the oddball? I was trying to find MOC pics so wiki has the magenta
http://mylittlewiki.org/wiki/Fizzy
and our gallery has what looks to me like the neon... so are both just out there and considered just version 1 and 2?
I like how the neon matches the G1 cartoon :-)
appreciate any insight as it is so hard to "value" nirvana and spain is like $40 to who knows for the TEs - centelleos
thanks!

The neon pink is definitely rarer
-
You do see less of the neon pink stripe version :)
I need to update the description in the gallery!

thanks much :-)
Hey did we already have a history of the TE variants BTW? Like it was just a second run release or a MO or (probably not for G1 like was with G4 when you get "store exclusives") other promotional ? I really do love nirvana in trying to also learn the manufacturing (like italy hand stamping) / marketing stories
-
ok I caved and bought that neon stripe (since I'd sold nirvana, must buy nirana - right ;-) love the cycle) loves me green ponies :-) so here's my spanish family now :-)
-
Congratulations on your new addition ^.^ I'd love to see a family photo if you get time
I must say collecting in this way allows you to compare ponies :) I know you've found a few variants we didn't know about such as the hair colour variant Brazil Twist.

Yay!! Big congrats on your new Fizzy. I'd love to see a family photo as well ^.^

so what I can say is the pink "crazy" eyes seem a different run - they are a darker green and hoof stamp is in a different place (see above)

That's a great picture thanks for sharing :)
I do recall their being two different placements for Twinkle Eyes hoof stamps. I can't remember if any conclusion was drawn as it was discussed a long time ago, but I do think two runs is likely given how much variation there is. It's not just hair colour, it's eye style and colour as well as hoof stamps that are different.
It might be worth discussing Spain twinkle eye hoof stamps again!

Fizzy is one of my favourites - what a great photo showing the variations! :lovey:

yes - so it looks almost as if there was maybe a second mold used and so that explains the different stamp placement? The circle on the bottom seems very different ... I'll need to go pull more spain marked ponies as I am not sure if that is a common difference for the second run of these guys
