Title: dumb question about IG
Post by: banditpony on July 18, 2019, 03:45:37 AM
So is there a way to follow people on IG, but not see their stuff on my feed (fixed wording)

I wanted to be nice and follow people who followed me to keep in contact -- but I am just not into their personal life.

I would say just don't click on it? Feed/stories are the little things at the top where the round circle around their icon is right?

I worded this wrong

I didn't mean stories.

I meant my main page-- it's designated by a home button, and it's the first thing that shows when I open the app.

I have no issues with going to people's pages and seeing their stuff, that's what I want.

Nooope. My suggestion would be to follow people on another account (the app lets you switch between accounts easily) to still have access to those who have privated accounts but may post a bit... enthusiastically.
Also a note, if you were trying to get your account to florish in the algorithm, it's been said that it helps to only follow accounts that post similar stuff to your own.

Bummer.

I am not sure I want two accounts, but I'll have to think about it. It's good to know you can switch easily. Do you have to put a password each time?

Thanks for the info.

Nah, not unless something goes weird with the app and it kicks you off your accounts (unlikely but has happened to me -_-) you can stay logged in and can switch easily using a drop down.

You can Mute people. It seems to only be an option on the App. You have to go to their account, tap on the "Following" button (has a little down arrow), and then you can select "Mute".

Kiwi is correct. When you click on "mute", you can then pick what to mute - stories, regular postings, or pick both.
