A much as I love Nightglider, Star Hopper or Firefly, I feel these ponies are overrated at times!
I'd love to see pics of your underated beauties! Whether they're underrated in you collection or in in the community. Who do you guys feel are underrated? I feel all Brush n Grows are, even though they're discussed a lot. I also feel Fantasy Flowers are forgotten! Also, who do you feel is overrated?

hmm, this is difficult.
I guess Dancing butterflies might be popular - and she is nice- but it is yellow on yellow. Tutti frutti in comparison is a ray of fruity sunshine and the looks like she throws vitamins at you! :D
Munchy and pillow talk are very nice designs in G1.
are we just talking about G1?
i think there are tons of G3 and a few G4 which got really underrated but they have grand designs!

You could probably have G2 as a whole generation being underrated, since some of them are really stunning.
I am going to be very specific since there are lots of potential characters, but in my opinion Firefly is overrated and Medley is underrated. As a kid Medley was always the cool one for me, with her harp tail and her thunder drumming. Firefly was just a reckless idiot who got into messes more times than she solved them. I never hated her but have never really been a mad fan.
I also think in a similar context Gusty...because I would have rather had Ribbon, probably, in the movie set. It's only speculation that that might have been a late switch, from artwork around the time including Ribbon and not Gusty - but I like Ribbon a lot better than I do Gusty (though I like Gusty more than I do Firefly, probably, and I might have felt differently if we'd had glittery symbol Gusty over here when I was a kid.

I think a lot of the Sweetheart Sisters are definitely underrated. They have gorgeous colors and designs! They look so elegant with curls in their hair.
Some of the early year ponies like Tootsie are usually cast to the wayside in favor of some of the others in their group. I LOVE Tootsie.

Tootsie did get an alt release in some places, but I always wondered why she's the one in her set that didn't get rereleased as much. There are so softs for Lickety, Posey and CJ but not Tootsie?
There are two poses and straight and curly for AJ - but not Tootsie?
The UK had rereleases of CJ and Posey - but not Tootsie?
I dunno. I suppose White Tootsie mitigates it a bit...but for the UK and the US it feels like she was kind of cast on the scrapheap. Which is sad because she was a popular comic character...and I do remember her being down Memory Lane in later stories too.
On another note, some Tootsies can look tired with the shade of body tone, but it's all a bit of a lottery because some Tootsies are a gorgeous shade of green which complements the blue perfectly.

Hmm that could explain it. I never realized how beautiful she was until I got a gorgeous one at Bronycon, but I could see how that shade of green would age awkwardly.

Agreed. I was shocked to see the line show in a topic about least favorite MLP lines earlier this year. I think they're gorgeous!

My underrated G1s:
Sunlight-I don't hear her talked about as much. Idk why? She's way too pretty for her own good. My favorite Rainbow of all time.
Skyflier-Her color scheme is unusual and unique and in theory a bit offputting. Peach/neon red/white doesn't really sound that attractive. She's nowhere near as popular as most of her setmates. Even I underestimated her as merely cute. She's really really pretty in hand
Hula Hula-She actually needs the right lighting. Without bright light to show off her wild colors, she looks surprisingly dull and bleh. Not everyone likes eyeshadow either. Even I used to think that entire set was ugly. Then I saw a pic of her in good lighting and bought her on the spot. Instant fave when she arrived.
Sweet Pop-She doesn't get nearly as much love as the other 3 TE pegs. Its a shame, because her shade of blue really is the color of popsicles, her symbol is unusual and she's one of those TEs who has very distinct hair colors that don't blend and are a different shade of another color. She's a beloved favorite and has been since I was little. She was also my first TE.
Sea Light-The first set seems to be in the shadow of the second. Its a shame we didn't get more then 3 adult sets of sea ponies. They coulda done so much with them. She's my first adult sea pony if we aren't counting customs and her light purple and pink is a very charming springtime scheme.
Underrated G3s:
Blushie-She has a dumb name, an overused theme and an overused color combo. I love her and think she's gorgeous and sassy.
Loop-de-la- Thought she was blue, but she's actually this pale, icy green with hair colors reminiscent of Sweet Stuff. The Ice Skaters don't seem to get talked about much and it seems a bit difficult to find them with their base. So they can't stand on their own easily. Even I don't think of them much.
Silver Glow-She's not talked about much and I can't imagine why. She's gorgeous in those blues and whites.
Aurora Mist-She is one of the loveliest Pegasus in the G3 line. Every one talks about ponies like Star Catcher, Thistle Whistle, Cloud Climber and Coconut Grove and with good reason, but she is really wow! Harmonious pastels, elegant but dynamic pose and a great symbol too.
I don't know if I have any underrated G4s? They're either common or popular.

Skyflier's streak is pale pink I think? Though this is one of those that rattles on...my MOC one sure looked pale pink when I got her.
I agree she is underrated though.
And absolutely true on Sunlight. Always the one forgotten in the set for some reason. Am I right she's the one missing from the 5 pack too? What's with that??
I remember seeing a lot of that set as a kid - I had Windy, I remember a friend having Starshine, another having Parasol, another having Moonstone...I don't remember ever seeing Sunlight. I'm not sure about Skydancer but I remember she was part of that set, but I always forgot about Sunlight till I found her at a carboot once and realised how pretty she is.
One reason Sweet Pop may be less rated is that she wasn't sold everywhere - but I always feel sad that was the case. I think she's amazing. That beautiful blue, with the pink and the yellow...I KNOW I would have wanted her as a kid, I loved the bold coloured ones (I had Masquerade. Also somewhat underrated, IMO)
Aurora Mist is stunning :D And so is Silver Glow. You have excellent g3 taste my friend.
I also love the SHS ponies, especially the glittery ones! I used to think Sunblossom was the dull one of the set but then I got a beautiful one and was blown away by how the pink and red and silvery blue symbol works together. Very nice group of ponies.

Twilight the unicorn. I've seen more people say she's a favorite in recent years but when I first joined the online pony community I rarely saw people list her as a favorite. There's something about G1 Twilight the unicorn that draws me to her and she quickly became a favorite
Princess Starburst/Princess Amber I don't see her listed much in favorite princess ponies but I think she's very pretty.
adult Wavedancer/Wavebreaker She's really pretty. I love how she and Firefly share the same colors.
Beachball- I never thought much of her until I saw her in person and like Butterscotch I discovered how pretty Beachball really is.

Applejack I love her color.
G4
The movie baby sea ponies. They're really cute and fun to pose in funny pictures. I've been able to do things with them that I would have never tried with ponies with brushable hair.

tHIS I love the Sweetheart Sisters! Pretty Belle one of my favorite ponies of all time. I also agree about Tootsie. She's a gem.
Taffeta, I agree about g2! Its so underated as a whole.

I 100% agree with this. She is NEVER talked about. I personally like her better than G1 cotton Candy!
LAW, I agree on all of those!!! Especially Sweet Pop, I was just thinking of how underrated she is the other day!

This includes all ponies! I agree, Dancing Butterflies is a tad overrated, even though I like her a lot myself and understand why she is.
That being said as we talk about TAFs I feel Bonnie Bonnets is underrated!

Lickity Split does have a stunning colour scheme. Portobella had to grow on me. Lickity won me over right away.

Very much agreed on this. Port-o-Bella has a more unique Cutie Mark, but Lickety is just better color wise.

Baby Cuddles seems to be overshadowed by Tiddly-Winks, even though they were both on tv and had popular sets.

I think Cuddles and Tiddlywinks are about equal. Half-Note is probably more underrated because its easier to find her BBE toy then her normal.

I just realized a forgotten one is Magic Message Floater. I know that people think their colors are ugly but with a mint symbol she's stunning :shocked: I actually feel that its an underrated set as a whole. Mirror Mirror and Cuddles are beautiful. I even like Windy but I understand why she's not everyone's fave. I definitely think they have unique color schemes regardless.

As a kid I always wanted Magical Breeze (Windy) because she was promoted on a special flier as a mail order pony here (I guess they had surplus stock). I remember when I found Mirror Mirror, though, I only vaguely knew who she was even though the whole set were in the comics for a while. Hrm.
Baby Half Note with regular eyes is fairly easy to obtain over here. I'd say she's more sought after and rated than the other two for that reason - I can trade regular half notes. Nobody wants Tiddlys or Cuddles.
Dance and Prances definitely don't get enough love. Tap Dancer's colours are amazing.
