Title: A good All Gens Collection Tracker?
Post by: gabumon on May 12, 2018, 05:08:37 PM
Anyone recommend any certain methods or software to use to track my all generations collection?

(I just about bought doubles off ebay! )

I use Snupps to keep track of my collections, though I still have the majority of my stuff to add. Downside though is you can't have albums within other albums.

I've tried Klect but they don't have many photos for G2 or G3 and their G4 section is pretty sparse.  Just wondering if there's another one out there.

TBH I’ve written a list in Word and then removed ones I’ve received- a la crossing them off a list!

I have never had anything really to track all the generations till recently, although in the late 1990s I had a notebook ;)

Now I have a spreadsheet with different pages for each generation and one for backcards and stuff. And a set of folders organised by generation with images (at least in theory, most of those aren't sorted yet).

Yeah, I don't have anything fancy - I just made a comprehensive Wish List on my personal inventory blog, and I made a spreadsheet for what I have.

I use Evernote - you can make notebooks for each gem and I upload my own photos, some details, but most importantly each pony has a very comprehensive set of tags that I can use to search. Some examples of tags are Year, Brush type, brush type and colour, ribbon colour, body colour, pose, etc etc. If I want to look up who in my collection comes with an original comb I can, or a blue original comb, who I own in the Bow Tie Pose, you get the picture! Plus I can delete the pics off my phone and if I need them they are easily retrievable. It also syncs between mobile and desktop. I’m going to start cataloging my Tamagotchi collection soon! My only criticism is the free version puts a monthly cap on uploads (pics mostly) into notes so when you’re first getting started it takes a while because I hit the monthly upload. Evernote also integrates into many native apps which makes sharing super easy.

I keep track of my collection with Snupps. I haven't been very active there and I still need to add lots of stuff, but it's super fun!

I just use a spreadsheet. Nothing fancy, but it works for me.

Man, if there was an app, where you could mark down number of ponies you had, condition, maybe even log pictures, and search it, that would be amazing!

There's one called "Toy Collector 2" which runs on apple devices.  It takes a little work to get it figured out, but worth a try.

I did download snupps on my old phone, but never quite got into it. Thinking I might try it again!
Otherwise I'm also looking for a smart way to do this. I can never quite wrap my head around excel and spreadsheets :S Will be keeping an eye on this thread :3

I use Excel spreadsheets, but I use Excel for work every day so I am fairly comfortable with it. Feel free to save the template and use if you like.

This one is for Generation 1 US Ponies: (I did not make this one.)

This one is for Generation 1 UK Ponies: (This one I did make.)

They are separated by year in tabs along the bottom.

I am planning on making a spreadsheet for Generation 2 Ponies next.

Kind Regards,
Jennifer

I recently got the app “mystuff 2” from the itunes store. Takes a little patience, but once you get used to it, it does the trick. It’s  not a data base with preloaded images. You create your own, but there are tons of sorting options.

This is how I use Evernote. I have the name, pics, and I added in a template for the info I wanted to capture. Then I also add about 10 different tags for searchability.

Edit - will try a pic at a later date *facepalm*
