Wave 9 is slowly finding its way into stores. We now have a complete list of Wave 10 ponies (https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10152032521298978), which is to say, Strawberry Sunrise, Sunshower Raindrops, Rainbow Swoop, Diamond Mint, and twenty repeats, or nineteen depending on how you view Princess Twilight Sparkle. Though at least Rainbowshine hadn't been in circulation in a long time. BUT THE RIDE NEVER ENDS!

Here are the ones I remember seeing so far. Obviously it's quite likely that some, most, or even all of these figures are not going to be "blind bags" at all but will instead appear in the character pack things, and speculation about those is welcome as well! It looks like there are five different characters from Rarity Takes Manehattan, so that's suggestive, and I'd be astonished if Flash Sentry and Sunset Shimmer weren't bundled together somehow.

It may be worth noting that there were regular, opaque, non-glittery, non-Rainbow-Power versions of Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash at the fair too. We haven't seen Rainbow Dash released that way since wave 6, and while Pinkie appeared that way in wave 9, there weren't any other figures from wave 9 on display. So that might explain the opaque Emerald Ray, if that is him? On the other hand, RD could easily get bundled with the opaque Spitfire and Helia/Lightning Dust.

I think it may be a bit premature to call this a wave, we don't know what's going into three or five packs yet. But good roundup of the new Toy Fair blind bags!

I would guess any of the slightly fancier ones will certainly get an initial release in the Mini Figs pack. And if Flash Sentry and Sunset Shimmer with Twilight are not one of those packs, I shall eat my hat [or at least a jelly sweetie hat].

But I think you are right Violet. A lot of these others look like possible options. I would hope [because I prefer them over translucent or glitter] that the next wave has more solid coloured characters and also more than 4 unique ones!

oh yay i hope so, such great ponies here :D this would be such a great line up, i really can't stand double up/re-releases. there will only be four i want of wave 10 unless i see them in opaque version before hand :)

I want that green stallion to be Emerald Ray so much! Did anyone else notice the re-appearance of the "bowling alley pony" in this weeks episode Leap of Faith. What was with the parasprite hat!?  :lol:
I'm so excited about the Sunset Shimmer one. She's like one of the very few character I really want a bb of. I'm still baffled over what happened with that translucent Lighning Dust from before. I don't think there are any other unaccounted for new character translucent ones. I really wonder if she was meant for wave 10 but was cut in favor of Sassaflash or something :(

Lightning Dust bothers me too! Because if they have the cutie mark, why not use it? Maybe she'll be in a set later on.

Opaque Spitfire (and Flash Sentry) are in the opening post. Cheese Sandwich is not, but certainly worth mentioning. Lightning Dust... well, we're still waiting to see what's on the display side of that one pegasus, but any way you look at it, it's a weird situation.

An Equestria Girls set (Sunset/Flash/PTS) seems most likely for those guys, but they could always show up in later blind bag waves too. Other mini figure set ponies have like Mr. Cake and Gilda. And probably a 'Party Ponies' set with Cheese Sandwich, Pinkie, and... idk, maybe Rainbow? It was her party. Or maybe they'll surprise us with someone non-mane six.

I'd say a Wonderbolts Academy set is likely if that is Lightning Dust, but she also shares Rainbow's mold who seems a shoe-in to be included in the set if they made it. But then again, Hasbro. I hope the rest are just regular blind bag ponies! It would be nice to have a wave worth hunting down again.

Personally, I can't wait for Flash Sentry. I've really come to like him. And all the FASHION PONIES! :heart: My favorite kind of pony.

So it may be that we can't see Pinprick's cutie mark in the toy fair photos because... he didn't have one yet. This picture was found on Kokojo.de As you can see you can see 3 new Blind Bags in the lower-right corner with some wicked designs. The molds seems to be the same as the current Rainbow Dash and Rarity mold, but the Twilight one looks new, maybe a new mold? They all have some wicked designs though! In the picture there are 25 ponies listed including the figures in the corner. In a regular wave there are 24 Blind Bags but since we see Twilight here twice (as figure and as vector) we have a total of 24 Ponies! We also see Purple Wave who already had a Blind Bag version of her revealed (Purple Lyrica)



 We do see a lot of the same characters who appeared in wave 9. So the amount of duplicated can be high unless they all get the wicked designs seen in the lower right corner. We know not much right now, but we are just speculating. And hope to provide you all soon with the right answer. :)

Whoooooa what? o.o I am 10000% on board with the new rainbow figures, but why would they make a brand new unicorn Twilight mold at this stage in the game? Plus gah, Hasbro, you just did TWO pink pegasi with yellow hair in wave 9, please not another!

Ehhhh  :unsure: I'd guess that if that image was Hasbro provided that might have been an early Wave 9 concept image as oppose to being a wave 11 one. That banner across the image vorläufige abbildung translates to something like provisional illustration. I know we haven't been getting full waves of new characters lately but so many of those match up with W9. I still think W11 will be mostly composed of those ones seen at toy fair (at least I hope).

That has to be old. There's no way we'd get Peachy Sweet three waves in a row, is there? And the weird unicorn Twilight is probably a sign of their not having a finished alicorn mold yet but wanting to be clear it wasn't going to be the normal Twilight mold.

Ugh if thats Wave 11, I ll be even more disappointed than usual :P So many duplicates!

I agree it seems unlikely that we would be getting unicorn Twilight again after such focus on alicorn Twilight. And its clearly not Rarity as one of the specials - the colours match Scoot although the type of pony doesnt. How odd! I wonder what the plan at this stage had been.

I saw that Sunset when nosing earlier. I suspect she will probably be a mini fig pack along with Flash Sentry and Twilight again :P Although thats just a guess...with Hasbro she could end up packed with the weirdest combination.

Yep. I prefer the red hair too, but it might be too similar to Pepperdance, and it looks like there was just a communication issue somewhere along the line in specifying which color to use for her hair and which to use for her hair ties. No surprises here, but good to see more figures in production besides just Flash Sentry and the blue unicorn guy.

I find G4 more and more fascinating, with any other generation she would still be Lulu Luck just a variant version of her [different type of of pony, slightly different colours and minor difference in symbol] - rather than a whole new pony! Hasbros lack of creatively in symbols is somewhat worrying :P

I find it worrying too. There are so many BBs with the same symbol. For the 2 linked horseshoes symbol in particular: Shoeshine, Lulu Luck, Lucky Swirl, Lilac Links and now this new pony all have a variation of it.
I'm still amazed they released Lyrica Lilac when her symbol is just like Lyra Heartstrings', and in the same sets twice even.
Hasbro's lazy decision making doesn't cease to baffle me.

I blame that one on the show. A lot of background characters got recycled cutie marks. (Like the stars, guitar and horseshoes.)
With Hasbro picking more background characters from the show, they also "have to" recycle more cutie marks. It's one of the things i REALLY wish they didn't. A well designed pony is far more important than a pony that appeared on the show for a few seconds.
(But a lot of people disagree with that these days.)

Well, Lulu Luck has a green horseshoe, and this lady has a yellow one. Other than that it's convergent evolution. The pony above is a recolor of Shoeshine:

And the animators decided to go the extra step of recoloring her cutie mark to match the rest of her. Historically that hasn't been done for a lot of throwaways, but many of the ponies I listed in the opening post as "Manehattan characters" actually occurred repeatedly in later season 4 episodes, some of them even getting filly redesigns in the Pinkie Pride flashbacks. So it looks like the animators made an intentional decision to add some new faces to the list of frequently recurring background characters, and then someone in Hasbro's toy department saw some of those new faces and decided to make toys from them.

Lulu Luck, on the other hand, was purely a product of Hasbro, with no involvement of the show animators at all, and presumably the animators had no reason to think about her when designing background characters for season 4. For whatever reason Hasbro gave her a pair of horseshoes for her cutie mark, referencing the association of ponies/horses with horseshoes, but not specifically Shoeshine. Shoeshine hadn't even had a toy yet when Lulu Luck was designed... it may have been entirely coincidental. Caramel (or "Chance-a-Lot" in the toys) also has horseshoes in his cutie mark. So does Lilac Links, a different Shoeshine recolor who became a blind bag just like this girl is on the way to doing. So does Lucky Swirl, a bb-exclusive.

Really, it wouldn't surprise me if Lucky Swirl had been designed by a blind bag team, and Lulu Luck by a playful pony team, and Shoeshine by the showmakers, all at roughly the same time without any communication among the three. Then the showmakers recolored Shoeshine (at least) twice as Lilac Links and the season 4 gal, and the blind bag team at various times saw those three (including Shoeshine) show ponies and decided to make them into toys, like they'd already made playful pony Lulu Luck a blind bag toy for wave 2. The showmakers weren't intending to create toys, so they didn't bother giving them separate cutie marks, and nobody who was intending to create toys produced the same design more than once. (Conceivably. Depending on how Lulu Luck and Lucky Swirl came into being, at least.)

They probably all have a catalog of cutie marks & trademarked characters they all reference. I remember reading something awhile back about how the MLP teams were going to be working more on having toys more relevant to the show and vice versa. Maybe matching show backgrounders to toys wasn't as intentional before as it is now.

Hmmm...the idea that the repetition is due to the show is spot on. Unfortunately for me all it does is just make me wish we could go back to toy designers being allowed to actually design toys. So many of the show characters are bland, boring and designed to be exactly that blending in, not too noticeable background roles...unless of course they are plot points.

The ponies which were created without the influence of the show - Honeybuzz, Dewdrop Dazzle, Star Swirl - are all much more exciting toys in colour and design than some of the bland bling bags that we see [in my opinion].

Also Violet thats a great analysis - but it also blows my mind :P So many ponies with the same symbol!

Sure, I'd take them over Honey Rays or Berry Dreams or Grape Delight. That said, there's a middle ground between all new "HasbrOCs" all the time and wave 10's nearly wall-to-wall reissuing. (Though I wouldn't mind a Twinkleshine (http://img4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130125034623/mlp/images/thumb/5/53/Twinkleshine_ID_S1E6.png/240px-Twinkleshine_ID_S1E6.png) reissue with a white coat.) There are still a few pegasus ponies, even ones who could get away with using the standard recolored molds, that still haven't made their way onto shelves despite appearing much more frequently than, say, Lilac Links' two-second cameo. All of them members of the main twenty-four background ponies the show started out with, but still woefully toyless, even after their cousins like Sassaflash have gotten up to three releases or more. :( So sad.

After those four, though, yes, bring on the new designs! Or at least more important/distinct characters like Cloudchaser and Flitter. (And Aloe! Three releases of Lotus Blossom, and not a one of her sister? They have the same design! Same cutie mark! How can this be so difficult?)

At least we're still getting semi-new characters in the blind bag line. The brushable line has been woefully mane-six heavy lately.

I do agree that I like a lot of the first few waves of brushables more than recent waves.. Feathermay, Honeybuzz and Starswirl are some of my favorites.

This. So tired of all the "one mane color" ponies with the simple/recycled cutie marks.
I really don't think a lot of background ponies make for very interesting toy designs.

Oh maaan.  Assuming a lot of the unique ones in that wave don't come out in minifig packs, this is the first wave in a long time where I've needed more than just a few.  And when it's not a few, it's almost all of them!

I bought a bunch of wave 10s from Walmart and Target and they didn't have the pamphlet either. It was just the ones I got today from Meijer. Really odd. I was quite suprirsed when I opened them.

Whoa, very cool! They appear to have renamed Suri Polomare to "Buttonbelle," which, uh, okay?? Otherwise, lots of cool stuff, and I definitely was not expecting breezies! Outside of RD, FS, and PP, the only rerelease is Spitfire!

Here's the guy they're calling "Cloud Chaser" (not to be confused with pegasus mare Cloudchaser). He's from It Ain't Easy Being Breezies, where he's Flitter's partner in providing the breezies with wind.

She was in Cadance's mold. That seems to be the only pony to be found recently that isn't included in this set. Maybe she'll come out in a mini figure set instead.

All those ones from Toy Fair made it in, except Luckette & Candy Apple got a hair color swap.
I totally expected some of these characters like Cheese Sandwich to be in mini fig. sets. I'm glad they're not! No having to but extras of the mane 6 to get them!

Nope. Fan naming has not kept pace with the show for all but the most important/visually distinctive characters. He, like several other characters in this wave, had not received any sort of fan name.

I will admit to being surprised to see some of the characters included in the wave within the wave and not mini figs sets - thought for sure Cheese, Sunset and Flash would get an initial release that way.

Yeah, 'Pursely Pink', how imaginative. Yet they also have some with kinda nifty names like Helia & Wensley. Nice to see lots of new ponies & molds used though!

It just occurred to me since Helia has such a large, visible cutie mark: sunflowers are in the genus HELIAnthus! Somebody at Hasbro had a clever moment there.

Well, to be clear, Helia was the fan name. Same for Big Wig, Candy Apples (IIRC), Purple Wave, Neon Lights, and Wensley. Pursey Pink specifically overrode the fan name "Filli Mellow," but that name was chosen after she was seen at the fair, so "Pursey Pink" might well have been already decided on by then. And then "Royal Pin" and "Buttonbelle"(???) came out of nowhere.

Do you know what capped my interest a little? The lack of new characters. I think if we got 18-24 shiny new characters each time I would still be on the gotta grab them all band wagon. But the fact so many are just repeats of ponies we have already seen in a slightly different way is making me go meh. Not to mention the speed at which they are being released.

he's probably my favorite pony of all time. hasbro wise. *Don't tell Blossom!!* of course if they make variations in the future i'll trade them out for the this one, but just in case they never appear, i want to get enough to match my twilights. (trying to keep my twilight and my flash sentry army balanced)

Just got a message, that Big Bad Toy Store is preparing to ship my wave 11 box. I wanted the whole box, because I wanted to make an advent calendar out of it and even with high international shipping and import taxes, it's still almost $60 cheaper, than buying locally (where I live blind bags are now costing $6 apiece), if this wave was out in Finland yet (probably won't be till late Dec - early Jan).

I do collect the blindbags, but I hate that they have taken the main stage. In my mind, brushable ponies are "real" ponies, and the blind bags are just extras.

The Breezie are a different species and they are very small. They are like bug-ponies and they are based of the Breezies from G3 (and possible the Flutters and Wingers from G1)
They appeared in the episode from Season 4 and it's called "It Ain't Easie being Breezies"

There are some color schemes I like in these guys, but for the most part I've become disinterested in blind bag figures.  I dunno, if they did something gimmicky like release some altered figures with brushable rather than molded hair, I might bite.  :P  At least they're branching out in the number of molds and poses they're using - Fluttershy actually got her own figure after what?  Three years?   :lol:

I have no idea how to even display them. Do the regular Breezies have this issue too?

Yes, the other Breezies also have the issue.  I've managed to get mine to stand by bending their legs out to the sides just before setting them down.  All but one have managed to stay standing for several days now, and I had her standing for probably a couple of weeks before I moved her for pictures.  You have to rebend the legs every time you pick them up or they'll fall over again when you set them down again and if you don't get them bent just right they'll go over anyway.

Ok, so the Breezies in the brushables sets are the same size as the BB ones, nifty! How are they compared to other BBs? They haven't really shown up here yet.

Thanks for the pic, Breyer600! I can't wait for my case to arrive; I think I shall set up the Breezies in a staring contest with my teeny weeping angel. Then I don't have to worry about their googly eyes staring at ME!   :biggrin:
