I had pre-ordered Sunset Shimmer and Rarity (masquerade Mask) from Toywiz, they just sent me a shipping notice today.. O_O WOW already? Can't wait to get them in :D
I apologize if someone's already mentioned this, I'm just uber Excited.
By the way.. I went to a walmart near my grandmas and Found these!!!

I just went to ToyWiz's site and they have a pic of Sunset Shimmer unmasked! Wow, she has beautiful eyes! They look Cadance-esque (rounder than the normal uni eyes)... Could that actually be true? The shade of blue also looks great in contrast to her yellow body.

I've never seen them for $9, but usually Target lists them for $4.99 or $5.99 I think- I know they are significantly more expensive outside the U.S. though...

I checked out the City Target in Seattle. The racks are EMPTY.

Wow $12? Although to be fair as she is the first new character for a long time and possibly likely to be she probably is going to be sought after but I think at that price I ll wait for her to turn up in stores. Although with only one per assortment I can understand people wanting to ensure they would get her.

Not really... it just means that studenthood doesn't last forever, which is perfectly reasonable; would you really want to be still counted as a student by the time you're 90 and in a retirement home or whatever?

I think she's very cute! I really like her colors, and so happy that we have a new brushable that isn't a main 6 or an Alicorn. :heart: Also a fan of the eyes she has. I hope future unicorns get these types of eyes.
I will admit that if she does appear in the show, I wouldn't mind if she was a student that "went wrong" and is a "villain" (be it "Nightmare Moon" bad, or "Trixie/Gilda" bad). Just as long as she ends up good in the end. :)

It's possible that she is under a confidentially clause(? - or what it's called that people that are working on a secret project can't confirm and/or deny something is happening in a show due to legal reasons/contract). So she may not be able to "tell us" if Sunset will be in the show and is saying otherwise.
I remember a while ago during Season 3 when Tara Strong (Twilight Sparkle's voice actress) said that she [Twilight] wasn't going to be an alicorn when fans asked her. And look what happened. xD
I do hope she appears in the show! Being a former student of Celestia is something that should be at least mentioned in the show and not just mentioned in a toy description.

At this point of the series it does appears that only a few powerfull chosen get to be Celestia student (even the 5 of the main 6 aren't) and even fewer of them ones approve the test, and if they do they get a noble title it appears. :nerdy:
Hence that's why I was wondering if Sunset Shimmer failed. ;)

Oh, it's a perfectly valid possibility; I only took issue with your saying that she must have failed, which is different from wondering. Personally she doesn't come across as at all villainous to me, so I prefer to think she graduated or whatever the equivalent would be.
I don't recall any reference to Star Swirl being Celestia's student. It's again possible, but it's just as possible that Clover the Clever or Thornhoof were her students; we just don't know. (And presumably only Rarity of the mane six would even potentially qualify, since the other four aren't unicorns, and I can't see Rarity wanting to be Celestia's student, soooo.)
...anyway, she's really pretty and I want her a lot. <3

I saw a few on ebay yesterday and some seemed more red than others. I am also wondering if it's just the quality of the picture or not. Let us know when you get yours, but fingers crossed she is, indeed red!

A part of me think at least some of the ones on eBay are orange-haired instead of red (and how the pictures are making it appear red, if unintentionally). I did buy one from one of the sellers yesterday, and I am expecting it to be orange. xD

IRL she looks as if she has a mixture of Crimson and red-orange, it's hard to capture on my camera.. she's a beauty and I also discovered her head is a bit wider than Honeys lol.. made me wanna look at the sizes of their heads now..

This comment/theory got batted around so many forums and became a little "chinese whispers" in its context...hence why I am using "supposedly". I dont even think we have proof that it was certainly said as its not any kind off official release just general gossip.

The original poster who claimed to know of Sunset Shimmer posted on the merch board of some other pony site.
I don't have the original comment, but it read something like "I am surprised they made her into a brushable". Then everyone started asking a bombardment of questions that they couldn't answer. It was a poster on the merch board of some other pony site. This post was in reaction to seeing Sunset Shimmer at the toy fair.
Here was my post from an early thread about her on Feb 10:
"Well here are things I have heard on a certain other website from a person who knows who she is:
1. She is a girl
2. She is from something secret that they can't talk about (Equestria Girls?)
3. They were surprised she got made into a brushable (implies she is related to the show, and not meant to be toy only)."
I really would not be surprised at all if she is in Equestria Girls, since Meghan McCarthy said she would not be in Season 4.

So cute! I can't wait until Toywiz restocks, I must have her! I don't mean to nitpick further, but is she Sunny Rays yellow?
But also, a lot of the cast were denying and being a bit side-eyed about Alicorn Twilight rumors too, and then they did come true. So, who knows? Sunset could pop up in the show and maybe staff is trying to quell rumors for now.
I personally hope she does show up! But if she doesn't, this is a sign we're getting more of those 'random' characters like Diamond Rose and Lily Blossom, and I LOVE that!

Hmmm I like the new eyes, but I was expecting Sunset Shimmer to to have more.... sultry looking eyes like Rarity's to match a slightly glossy yet kickarse personality. She looks too benign like this given her strong colour. I was very tempted to buy her off ebay, but I've decided to ait for her to arrive in stores. I just blew my money on Zecora today.

Oh man, I am so disappointed that her mask is only cardboard :( I have no idea why, but for whatever random reason I was kind of hoping for it to be made of plastic or at least something that would...last.
But that aside, Sunset is beautiful! I'm really not TOO into yellow/orange ponies, but hey, she's a unicorn, she's new and she's got the cutest eyes ever! <3 Very much looking forward to seeing her pop up in stores!

Question for anyone who purchased an official release of Sunset Shimmer--if you separate out the orange stripe and line it up next to Rainbow Dash's red stripe can you tell them apart or do they match? The one I got from China appeared to have an orange stripe, but when I compared it to RD's red (without being able to see any bodies or other hair colors) I couldn't tell them apart. So now I am wondering if there is really a difference at all. I'll be buying the official release once I find it, but I want to know NOW! Heh heh.

Perhaps its just the promo picture and the body colour as well as other hair colour which gives the red the perception of being orangey?

Has anyone found her in a store yet? I'm hoping I get lucky on payday and nab one. :) I bet she probably won't show up for a little while yet, but I can hope.

I am seriously confused about her hair color. It's clearly red in MoonShadow's photo (and so gorgeous!), but looked very orange in the previous photos someone posted. ???
I believe it is red...but lighting, camera and the very orange surrounding hair colours as well as her body colour perhaps give it an orange hue in certain pictures.

I got a box of her yesterday and her hair is orange. I compared it to the red in RD's hair and it matches, but I don't consider RD's hair to actually be red.

Her eye indentations are the same as regular unicorns, just painted differently.

Update: I just bought her from hasbrotoyshop.com My first pony purchase in 5 months? 6 months? So long ago I can't remember :lol:

Sunset Shimmer is my fist G4 in about a year(?) or so. Gosh I like her so mutch! She is everything I like about FiM ^__^

I went to TRU for their Easter sale last Thursday and they had some of the Masquerade ponies out, so I got them for $2.99 each.

Unfortunately, the evidence is now pointing towards that not being the case... Looks like both version have a stripe that matches Rainbow Dash's red. :(

But do we really have that confirmation? The person's who got theirs from Toywiz has red hair. Isn't that just an online toy retailer who wouldn't have "prototypes" or random taobao variants? I'm still confused...

The Sunset Shimmer I got from eBay has "red" / "red-orange" in her mane, but her tail is like a "neon"/brighter orange. From what I could tell, at least.

Sure- the ones coming in from ebay/Taobao are definitely red (by red I mean matching rainbow dash red)- and now that people are getting the ones from Hasbrotoyshop and Toywiz- as far as I've heard anyway, they are all orange
My guess is that they switched colors at some point- the prototype PHOTOS on toywiz and BBTS and hasbrotoyshop show red- but the packaged ponies that we have seen so far have orange. In contrast- the loose ponies from Taobao and ebay have had red hair (red hair like rainbow dash red).
Always a possibility they will release the ponies with both colors- but that seems unlikely...

Well, the ones I got from Hasbrotoyshop match RD's "red" hair, which isn't really red, more of a dark orange.

I've got mine on the way not a G4 collector but I loved her as soon as I saw her so she'll be my very first G4. Got her off Ebay so looking forward to see her hair colour I'd rather red :-)

Yay, got mine the other day. Seems like they are making the heads of the ponies differently now. The head matches the body well, but you can see seams on her cheeks. Also the plastic looks softer and shinier.
