I decided to look at eBay on a whim and I found this:

So of course I bought her. It's going to be about a week before I find out whether or not I discovered a freak variant or just wasted $19 on a grimy Majesty. I'm nervous :shocked:.

Hard to say given the image quality but the red streak could maybe be a dye job? Majesty's streak is originally white, so it'd be easy to dye. It kind of looks like the red streak in Gusty's hair, though.

I can't say for sure, but I hope it's a variant. Maybe if its a dye you could wash it with water to see if it comes out. And if her head comes off you could look inside to see if it was rooted. I f you want to of course.

I thought that too, but it’s hard to tell if it’s like that in real life or just the result of the blurryness.

My guess is a dye job. You can see it staining the plastic at the base of the streak. But she still looks very cool!
This is just a guess on my part, but I don't think Sprinkles and Majesty were made in the same factory as the other ponies of their era. My main reason for thinking this is that their hair is uniquely terrible for G1 hair. (Choppy ends, not as silky, doesn't lay on their necks nicely.) Although I guess it's also possible they WERE made in the same factory but they purposely used cheaper hair on them in order to keep costs down, since they came with playsets.

My thought was an Alt rehair of some sort, but I can see how the dye would go too. Let us know!

Hard to say. its a g1 after all. Looks dyed but I feel I've heard of a red haired Majesty variant before? Maybe? You'd think she would've sold right away if that were the case though, unless its not very well known.

I am a cynic, so I always go with the dye job until proven otherwise. But that doesn't mean it's not worth investigating.
There's a Chinese Majesty variant but she has a white streak. And variations in the quality of the hair on Majesty, but I'm not aware of a red hair streak version. And we're at a point where new stuff does still come up, but it's less likely.
However my general opinion is if weird factory things happen, they're most likely to come from the origin country, which is the US. There are a few exceptions to that rule, especially with regional exclusives (like the school ponies and stuff), but for the most part you'd expect a freak of production nature to originate in the place a pony came out first.
But I still agree about the red marks and think she's been dyed.

I can't tell either, but it makes me wonder if someone didn't color the hair with a marker. We'll have to wait and see, though.
That being said... she'd probably look pretty gorgeous if her blue hair / symbols were changed to red.

No matter what condition she is in, she's going to a home where she is wanted. :o) Can't wait to see pics when she arrives!
There's no beating my factory error soulless Majesty though... LOL

OOPS I forgot this thread existed :lookround:. I wanted to take a picture of her clean (since she arrived filthy) but I don't think that's happening soon. Anyway, the red in her mane is some sort of permanent marker (as predicted by many).

Too bad its not a hither-to unknown variant - but, I'm picturing a child carefully coloring the white hair with a marker with intense concentration and it does make me smile. Maybe they thought since it was white, it was a paint-your-own mane hair pony? :p

"A my little pony! A white unicorn!"
"But we already bought you a castle with a pony. A white unicorn."
"But Gusty has a red stripe in her hair!"
"You're not having another pony."
"Fine."
(pen comes out. Majesty gets a red stripe in her hair.)

This is too cute ^.^. It also seems that the child tried to cut her a forelock as well.
