Title: DollyHair issue (1-4-17 Final update)
Post by: wystearya on December 02, 2016, 01:13:58 PM
(1-4-2017: Please see my latest reply for the UPDATE.  I DID get the Diamond color.)

I have never ordered from Dollyhair before, until about a week ago.

My order came today, but is is not correct.  *sigh*

I have sent an email to them, hoping this get resolved, as I want the color I ordered...  It is NOT marked as sold out.  And I didn't get the 'next closest' color either.  It's like they skimmed my order and mixed it up.

I am just wondering if they fix mistakes like this.  Or if I am stuck with what I got, or risk ordering again to get the color I actually wanted.

I am sure people here have ordered from Dollyhair.   IF you had an issue with them, can you let me know how (or if) it was resolved?

Thank you!

I've only had one poor experience from Dollyhair, but it was quickly fixed. My order was shipped to an old address that I did NOT choose at checkout. They resent the doll hair to my correct address for no additional charge.

The second time the color I wanted was out of stock so they included two free hanks of hair and also told me to remind them next time I ordered to get the color that was out for free. Nearly a year later I ordered more hair, mentioned the color and they sent it!

So I'm guessing they may have just made a mistake, but from my experience they will do everything in their power to fix it!

Something tweaky is going on over there. When I first started ordering I would get it within 5 days. My last few orders dont even get shipped until a week after I order. Then, this last order they sent it to my billing address which is different than my shipping. Luckily I have forwarding as usps charges $12 to intercept a package.
I havent gotten incorrect colors yet, but its been hinky as of late.
Thats not good for those of us who make a "living" off our customs.
Oh, and once I made two orders in a two week period and they were so behind I got both orders in one package.
For the record, I still love the company and their hair, just gets frustrating. Hoping that Kim maybe has just been swamped due to the holidays.

Thank you both!

Hopefully I will get the color I most wanted (and ordered) soon.  :)

Hmm, well maybe they are busy or something, but I did email them about this on Friday and still have not heard anything back.  I sent a second email last night, just in case maybe the first didn't go through.

If I don't hear something soon I guess I will have to call them.  (I am odd but I hate to call any company unless I have to!)

While it's not a lot of money I don't want to have to reorder and risk getting another mix-up.

Not overly concerned, just a bit frustrated to not get any kind of reply at all so far.  Again, I am hoping they are just very busy and I hear back soon.

Ive never recieved a reply to emails to them, and the number on the website is a discontinued number. At least it was when I tried last month regarding those two orders.
I never had issues until I moved from Meridian to Boise. When I first started ordering from them, I generally order on fridays and would get my hair the next thursday.
Now, well, I ordered two weeks ago and the tacking number still says preshipment on usps.com.

Oh..  Well, I sure appreciate you letting me know.

At least I like the color they sent, even though I did really want a hank of the Diamond like I ordered.  *sigh*

I sure hope you get your order soon!  Guess I am lucky I got anything.

I think it was a just a mix up/ mistake. It can happen more often at busy times like xmas unfortunately. Dollyhair has had some issues in the past with orders like this but she does fix them so you should get your correct order eventually   . It sometimes takes a while to get an answer depending on how busy things are- you may need to email more than once ;)

there have been other posts in Trader support about Dollyhair . Here are a few . You can also find more if you do a search here and on MH Arena

I once recieved a hank of the wrong color; it was alphabetically next to the color I requested, so I wonder if that was the mix up. I let her know, and within a few days got an email about correcting it, and the recieve the correct hair fairly quickly. It seems like there are times she is able to answer more quickly than others, but I feel that Dollyhair has always done their best by me.

Well, I hope that it will end up working out for me, eventually.

So far I have sent a total of three emails.  Not one reply, nothing in the mail.

We will see.  I'm not giving up yet, but I don't know for sure if I will order from Dollyhair again in the future.

I think she may have caught up. I ordered hair tue I think, and last night got my shipping notification. Thats a lot more like it was when I first started using dollyhair.
I really REALLY like dollyhair best product wise so I dont want to use anyone else. Im wishing you good luck on your order too.

I hate to say it, but you may want to open a PayPal claim. Sometimes she will ignore all communication when there is an issue. This is why I don't use her hair anymore.

Since I did get a package, would Paypal do anything though?  I mean, she mailed me a package and I did get it.  It just wasn't the color I ordered, but how does Paypal know I am not lying?  :/

Ok, I see.

Well, I am going to email one last time.  If I hear nothing in a few more days I guess I will file with Paypal.  I hate to do that, but... the complete lack of communication is not helpful.  :/

I get that people are saying this is just how this person works, but it's not really good business practice, in my opinion anyway.  Needless to say as a first time customer this caught me off guard completely.  I didn't expect to get no reply whatsoever should an issue come up.

Interestingly enough- on another forum I check in with (for fashion dolls) there is someone making the same exact complaints.  I guess she is having issues right now.  I sure hope she gets back to you both eventually...

The fact that she is filling other people's orders doesn't mean she is caught up necessarily- she seems to have people that she prioritizes...

People keep buying from her so she has no reason to put in the effort of even halfway decent customer service or keeping orders straight. Any other small business that did this would've failed by now :/

I think it's because our hair suppliers as so limited and she is more well known for her hair in the community. I love that other sellers have stepped in and are starting to provide alternatives, but she is still the one that pops up the most and even just googling hair to purchase she pops up. Also, it's so hit and miss. Some people never have issues ever and then others it's constant problems.

Just send an email myself.
My last shippment went out on the 8th. Still sitting in pre shipment mode.
As well as I got no response regarding my order from 11/26 that went to the wrong addy.
I told her that if I didnt get a response in 24hrs that I would be processing paypal claims.
I hope she comes through. I dont want to spend the first part of my new year testing out new hair suppliers.

So far I have heard nothing at all.  I am giving her until tomorrow evening, then I am filing with Paypal for item not as described.

This is just sad.

You would think someone who has been in business for a while would *try* even a little bit to resolve a simple issue.

It helps that between her and Retrodolls, these are the two primary (only?) sources for buying the range of nylon & seran- for the entire customizing world of doll and pony folks.

Basically she still gets business because she has a really good product that no one (?) else does.  Her customer service has always gone in cycles of "great to very poor".  Once it hits rock bottom a bunch of people will drag their problems into the light of day, and suddenly her customer service will be good again.  Until the next time.

I get why people buy from her, I've bought hair from her myself, but it's helpful to know ahead of time that she's unreliable.

Yes, low expectations are the key.

I have bought some pony hair from her that was not available anywhere else.  I went into it knowing of her reputation so it was easier to understand late/weird customer service.

It helps to know that although she is late and disorganized and often ignores emails-  she has never really been known of defrauding anyone, just poor customer service.

Still not ok in my book.  I will know to avoid Dollyhair in the future.

I have opened a case with Paypal.  However it went to the 3rd party checkout system for the Dollyhair site and not to Dollyhair themselves..  I do not know how this will work out.

I doubt the 3rd party can or will do anything, and in that case I will escalate with Paypal.

I did a Doll Planet order recently. The hair I received is absolutely wonderful although the rehairing tool is difficult to use.

I forgot the reason for this but didn't she have so many issues at one point she has to use another party service? I'm unsure it's been ages since I ordered hair.

I really wish the phone number for her business worked.  However.... as I understand, it was her PERSONAL home phone number. and the last time that customers flooded her phone with actual, realistic professional complaints about their transactions, she came to all the forums and LAMBASTED everyone for disturbing her home and her children and "don't we have any patience, she's going through this terrible divorce", blah blah blah, no accountibility, no professionalism...

So I would love to be able to share an actual contact method for her - but she likes to pretend that she's a professional until the going gets tough and then she pulls out all the guilt stops about being a single parent and life is hard, and postage is expensive and filling orders takes time....  :(

So, my question is, where do you buy now?
I mean, Dollyhair has really good hair for ponies, the sending and shipping is long and painful, but in the end it comes home. I have bought 3 times and all the time it was ok with me, even if the delays were a bit longer than expected.
i have tried from Doll Planet, they have a customer service really great. And nice colors but the hair doesn't convince me, I tried to rehair a pony and had to dehair her and rehair with dolly hair because she was punk. The hair did not come down, it remained straight on the pony's head. Even if I wet it and comb it and used pencils to curl it, it recovered the straight position. I still got chunks of hair from them. But since that experience I am affraid of trying some other providers without any advice from people from The arena.
Any one knows better? I like rehairing ponies and I would like to continue doing it, but if dollyhair is doing weird stuff I prefer to try some other seller, but one that works well with ponies.
Any recommendations ?

Retro Dolls is the other supplier I know of. They have a US and a UK store. The US shop is on Etsy and has very good reviews. I haven't bought from either one though.

Thisthisthis. Also she likes to play the blame game about how all the issues are caused by other people (even her own customers!). I've had two run-ins with her and the last was really bad. I refuse to buy from her.

I get all my hair from RetroDollsUS and have ZERO complaints. It takes a bit of adjusting, but if you want change for the better it takes effort. And the more we as a community move away from DH and help RetroDolls grow the better it can be.

Shannon keeps small hanks in stock, the large hanks need to be pre-ordered from the UK. A lot of people on Facebook will chip in for group orders for those. The hair is 100% as good as what DH sells. It's soft and smooth and style-able. You just need to be sure of what type you are ordering since she carries a big variety. Plenty of them color match original Hasbro hair. She also has frequent coupons and deals, etc.

There really is no reason for anyone to have to put up with DollyHair anymore.

Really sad to find out all this after the fact, but at least it was not a big order and I know to never use Dollyhair again.

Retrodolls is better for me since they are in the Uk so items would arrive faster.
As I said I haven't had any problems with her, but it is only the thirsd time I buy from them. I don't mind changing to another if it is better and does better job.
I already tried once and I regret since the hair is to thick. Like cheap wig hair... so now I have 7 chunks that are useless...but if you say retro dolls is like Hasbro hair I'm on it! Must try them

Finally got my latest order yesterday. I ordered it on Dec 1.
I guess once I get back from Iowa I will have to try retro and others and do some comparion shopping. Ill buy white and try it out and dye it to my needs.
Im just so behyond frustrated at this point. No work from her or paypal yet regarding my money back. But I guess $15 is a small price to pay for a lesson.

Keep at it.  The amount is irrelevant, it's the principle of the matter.  If she walked up and stole $15 from your purse, would you shrug and walk away?

Post about it on social media... get the word out there and get her attention!

I guess I'm lucky as I've never had issues with Dolly hair.  I ordered twice within the same time frame some of you are saying and got both my orders in about a week.  Is it just random who has problems?

I'd like to try out The Doll Planet, but I find their website so confusing I can barely use it.

I tried them, they work nice and are kind but I had problems with the hair, it didn't fit the ponies they were punk, so I had to dehaire and rehair again. The quality from Dollyhair is better for me, but she seems to have problems with other buyers.

So I hadn't checked my email in a few days due to being busy with the holidays and real life stuff.

Amid the many junk emails and ads I see one from Dollyhair.  I have a package on it's way to me. *wow*
No other email, no apology, no explanation.  I am *assuming* it will be the Diamond color I was supposed to receive.

If I do indeed get the Diamond color in the mail I will be dropping the Paypal claim.

I still will NOT be ordering from Dollyhair in the future.  Too much drama and ZERO communication.

*sigh*

At least I should be getting what I ordered, finally.   :|

(Checking back at my original post, it's been a full month to the day.  And I do not yet have this new package, it just says 'in transit', though it should be here soon as the email was sent on Dec. 30th.)

Sad to read about the problems with Dollyhair.com.
I order from Germany (small amounts max. 6 bags) and had never problems with her shop. I love the quality of the hair, the careful packaging and that many colors matches the vintage ones.

Only thing I can agree is the communication problem. I have contacted her last year because of some colorchanges via email but got never a feedback.

I am glad this is finally over.

Never going to order from Dollyhair again.   The hair may be nice, but it's honestly not worth the hassle in my book.

Glad you finally got your hair! I must agree with so many others here and say that Dollyhair takes AAGES to ship anything out. I've only done one order with them, but they are slow, and communication is atrocious. I emailed to ask if an OOS colour was coming back in stock soon (if it was I would have waited and included it in my order, more $$ for her!) but got no reply at all. I've never ordered from retrodolls, but I made an enquiry about a colour match, and got a pretty fast response. I'll be ordering from them if I ever get around to doing any more rehairing!

I send a question about hair to retrodolls and never got an answer but i guess i typed my email wrong. Anyway I ordered some hair and 5 days later I got them. With Dollyhair this is the time they take between the payment and the shipping! I really prefer retrodoll :-)

I'm glad that you finally got your hair  :cheer:   :bigups: . I'm sorry that you didn't have a good experience though. I haven't tried retrodolls TBH. I used to buy my hair from My Little customs in the Uk - same as dollyhair I think, but not sure if they are still going..its been a while since I had time to rehair *sigh*

re: retrodolls
I buy from them and they ship fast (UK), not had a problem yet.

I would really like to buy from DollyHair as they have a detailed MLP colour-matching list (unlike retrodolls) but I am feeling a wee bit wary after reading about the experiences of recent customer transactions.  I hope the issues get resolved soon!

Well, the issues have been going on for many many many years- so I don't think they will resolve. Things just get better for a while and then, inevitably, worse.

Holy flutter ponies, batman!
Got my latest order in record time and inside was a handwritten note from Tina about my lost order from November.
She gave my a number, I called and my hair is on its way!
Woohoo. No issues getting a hold of her either.
