Title: Refund for a penny? Non pony Figured out why see last post
Post by: Ponyfan on January 20, 2016, 10:10:54 AM
Hi,

I ordered some items Friday night from Walmart.com Today I got a notice from Paypal that Walmart sent me a refund for a penny. I checked on my items and they are marked as shipped although I haven't gotten a tracking number yet. Why did Walmart send me a refund for a penny?

Check your online statement for credit card or bank and see if they did an initial $.01 charge and are now just crediting you back.  It does seem pretty strange though.

Huh, strange!  All I can think is that they put through a tiny transaction to "test" the account and make sure it was working and now, as jrr74 says, they are refunding the test amount.

Very strange - it might be due to the reasons jrr74  and Lady Moondancer said. or the other reason I can think of is that sometimes shops will refund you even silly amounts if they overcharged. For example, I ordered some dolls from Amazon last month. On one of them I got a refund of 0.09  due to an overcharge on shipping

Thanks everyone. I did some checking and the penny refund is because Wamart.com overcharged me on the sales tax by 1 cent.

At least that's honest?
