I went ahead and downloaded the apk file, but while I got as far as creating my character, I can't interact with the starters or anything. Guess I have to be patient.
For you American folks, I have a question. Do you absolutely always need internet to play, or are there some things that work without it?

They're definitely supposed to be appear in the AR mode. I switched to it immediately when I ran into the first Pokemon.
I've run into a Pidgy sitting on my work laptop so far, but that's about it. It's pretty cool to watch them jumping on the keys. I find it kind of hilarious that while I'm in my building I'm always either standing in the middle of the highway or the middle of the river in the game.

Theres a lot in my town, within just a few blocks I've caught like 60!
I got so excited when I saw this thread and immediately downloaded the app... but so far it's been a letdown because we're too far out on acreage and there are absolutely no Pokemon to be found.
My boyfriend was saying that he'd see what he could find on the way to/from work, I'm guessing when I head home I'll find more in the suburbs...
I thought Pokemon would just be random everywhere, perhaps more so outside of heavily populated areas, so I won't get to properly try it out for a few days *pout*

Hey, so has anyone else seen pokestops with cherry blossom petals raining from it? Literally down the street there was one. We drove by it on my way to work, couldn't stop by, but there were cars parked in that location parking lot something neat might have been going on....that I probably just missed out on.

We're less than an hour from the city here, not completely rural Australia but absolutely nothing in the nearby Pokemon tab in bottom corner.
We actually took a drive in this evening and there were plenty of Pokemon nearby on the motorway (so at least I know how it works now) but I could only get close enough to catch them in the suburbs.
I also saw a pokestop with cherry blossoms, we slowed to try and catch it on the way past but the cherry blossoms stopped before I could tap on it?
What we have had trouble figuring out is the whole transferring Pokemon thing and how it relates to evolution, so if anyone has any tips that would be awesome!
I am debating getting a replica of Ash's cap, in the hopes that people will realize I'm catching Pokemon when I stray into their yards. XD
I could be wrong because I am still waiting to log into PTC and see how it works. I think when you transfer a pokemon then you get something in return. Maybe candies? And then that item helps you evolve a pokemon.

Also, Aintnobuffalo, ahhh I'm jealous of your Horsea! I love the name, too. I was on the trail of one yesterday but I couldn't get more than two "foot prints" (whatever real life distance that equates to lol) away from it. I'm pretty sure it was in someone's yard. Hopefully I'll be able to track one down soon since Horsea is one of my faves.

I ran into a Scyther while coming back from my oboe lesson. I ended up running out of Pokeballs attempting to catch it. How in the world do I get more Pokeballs without spending money? =/ I passed by like twenty Pokespots and I couldn't do much to interact with them... I was riding in a car, but still I don't understand how they work... I thought that's where we're supposed to get Pokeballs? =/

It's hard to get them in a car, especially if you are going over 20mph. You have to get lucky on the timing cuz it lags keeping up with the car speed.
When you are close enough they change from little squares to circles and then.you click on them and spin them. You can click on them before they turn into circles but usually it says it's too far away.

I had a great day with Pokémon too. I caught a very powerful Bulbasaur in the parking lot at Walmart, was able to catch enough Pidgey to evolve my Pidgeotto into a Pidgeot, caught three Vulpix, and two Seel. There were also others, but those were probably the best catches so far.
There are a billion Eevee in my house lol I have Jolteon already and almost enough Eevee candy to evolve another one.
I ran into my friend while I was at the mall, she was with her boyfriend and son trying to catch Pokémon and we had been texting each other all morning. It was just funny to run into her while also looking for Pokémon at the mall. We didn't even plan that!

Bummer. >_< The only other thing I can think of is maybe that the gyroscope in the phone needs to be recalibrated? But some phones don't work with the AR option though. (I thought it wasn't even supposed to pop up as an option if that was the case though.)
For your other question... I'm not 100% sure since I haven't figured out how to go in the right direction. You can select the pokemon you want to track down, and walk a certain direction and see if the little footprints start to decrease. That's the only way you know if you are getting closer. I have read that if the bar blinks you are going in the correct direction? Not sure if it is true.

Last night in the two parks downtown there were about thirty college-aged kids playing. They all formed groups and were yelling out their team colors and player names....I didn't make any friends lol. Seriously contemplating playing the Team Rocket anthem on the loudspeakers whenever I see a trainer come on to the property.

I just started playing today, and found 11 pokemon on an afternoon walk where I hit about 7 pokestops, 5 of them twice, lol! I watched a schoolkid across the street beat a gym while I had a 5 min break at the last pokestop before hitting it again and heading back home. I think when I hit 5 I'll go with Blue. There are players from all three colours around me for sure, the three gyms were red, red and blue before I left, one was yellow by the time I reached it, the kid must have been red, because he beat it and then the one near my house is now blue.
My house is surrounded by three parks, so I've encountered a few different types, though mostly zubat, but I've caught paras, spearow, bulbabsaur, and geodude, and had pidgey, psyduck, krabby, eevee, and ghastly nearby. Right now I'm luring, and have had several zubats and a paras approach. This thing is fun but damn it uses data! I think I'll try to use it on wifi where I can... hopefully there's a pokestop at work.. anyone know if they have hospitals as pokestops?!
Birds are by default my favourite pokemon, so I love all three, Moltes a little less than the other two only because Ho-oh is one of, if not my favourite legendaries. Zapdos was shamelessly my flyer in my childhood playthrough of blue, so I think it defaults to my favourite, but Articuno is so pretty, and fires my favourite type of the three... I don't want to miss out on one if they are exclusive to the team you choose so I need to think carefully.
My area is a Drowzee nest, I'd say like 80% is Drowzee by my house, with the sporadic Gastly around, but never close enough for me to catch at home. >_< I'm surprised at how many water types are around though, I guess they like my neighbours' pools.

Edit: Spoke too soon, there was a Gastly chilling in my room with me. And ah, there is a Weedle somewhere close by and I want it! Why are the ones that are dirt common in the games so rare in my area? :lol:
Is anyone here playing on a 1GB ram phone or tablet? I checked the website and it says the Minimum Ram is 1gb, just wondering if a cheap/older phone would run it at all.
I'm really disappointed because my old Galaxy S3 can't handle it. I am eligible for an upgrade but my phone bill would go up $30 a month. Not worth it.

How old is your phone? Because you'll have to make sure your OS is compatible with the app as well. As far as the RAM goes, my friend has an older-ish phone with the minimum amount of RAM, but she isn't able to play.

It's pretty neat to go out walking and run into other people who are playing. It's a great conversation starter! But if this app does well and updates to keep things fun and exciting, I have no doubt it'll be around for a while and you'll be able to jump in whenever.
Oh, and can I just mention that I love working in a building that's a PokeStop? Someone had a lure set here when I got in, and I just set one there. I'm just barely within range, though. :lol: I had to change my GPS settings from high accuracy to level just below it, so that it could have me closer to the middle of the building. Just a tip for anyone in a similar situation. ;)

The closest gym is 2 blocks from my house. It's an old milk factory. Now that I'm up to level 6 I walked over there today after work. The gym leader's Pokemon were all in the 500-600 range. My strongest Pokemon is 104. :wail: I've got some work to do yet.....

I have the same thing going on, the closest gym and pokestops are a couple blocks away, and the gym leader's pokemon are above 700. I'm finding it really frustrating to be in a small town. Especially when I don't leave town too much to go anywhere on a regular basis.
For a jolteon, you need one that knows swift. :)
My biggest pokemon have come from highly popular areas, some from a pokestop with a lure, and others from places like walmart. :)

Someone put one in a crib with a baby, and the red half of the pokeball (with the little cutout) got over the babies mouth and nose...you can guess what happened., poor kiddo. :( so after thay, if you brought the empty pokeball back, you got a free small fry. The toy inside was still ok, it was just no one had realized the cutout was the right size to suffocate a baby!
Inside the burger kings, we also had to spend hours opening the toys and putting them into white plastic bags, because they didn't want the pokeballs to harm another persons baby.

They've disproven that. :( I tried going both by moves and by the claim that the local gym colors determine it.

Dude yeah omg the whole move thing for the vui's is defiently not true after the data I collected today and what others posted on reddit throughout the week. Ive been evolving eevees alllll day since I live at an eevee nest LOL and I even went near the gyms and STILLLLL lots of vaporeon for my outcome! All I need is jolteon omg so frustratng omg. Ive been contributing to the reddit eevee evo post and so far we cant crack it, in fact most of us keep getting vaporeon and jolteon seems to be rare out of the three. Some people are saying its your team color.....but my husband is Instinct and has a ton of vaporeon and one flareon. No jolteon and his team color is yellow!
So today I got sunburned super bad playing Pokémon Go lol. I didnt even feel I got sunburned. I was wearing a baseball cap and sunglasses at least omg im sooo red LOL! Totally worth it since I got some awesome Pokémon today! Funniest find was a CP26 pidgeot.... :lol:

You guys are lucky... I'm all out of data, so going to change my phone plan tomorrow, for a higher data pack. I'm just hitting level 5, hubby who I've converted, is now level 7, and he doesn't even like pokemon! So hoping that they introduce trading so that when he gets bored, (and he will) I can swap for some of his cooler pokemon, lol! He's a pokemon magnet, we have the exact same phone, and pokemon will appear for him and not me, it's infuriating!

It's probably that your phone lacks the gyroscope sensor needed to use AR, like you said. I'll be honest, I use the AR function sometimes, but most of the time I turn it off. It's harder to catch Pokémon with it on, because they'll wander off the screen sometimes and they aren't always right in front of you. Turning it off automatically places the Pokémon right in the middle of the screen.

Try and hatch the 10km one first! Walking around is the obvious way to hatch them, but you can also just leave the app open when you're in the car and get distance that way- it really helps with the 10km eggs. :P

I have noticed that if you live in rural areas like me you won't get that much joy out of Pokémon Go. There are barely any Pokéstops or Gyms and you can't find nearly as many Pokémon as in the big cities. Which really doesn't make any sense according to Pokémon logic. In the main series games you usually find pokemon in nature (tall grass, forests, etc.) not in cities.
I just went for a long walk for over an hour and I only found two Pokémon, a Pidgey and a Spearow. I thought I had some bad luck or that something was wrong, but when I googled it I found out that's how it seems to be for everyone who lives in rural areas. I'm actually considering downloading a fake gps to be able to get more out of the game.

Birds are by default my favourite pokemon, so I love all three, Moltes a little less than the other two only because Ho-oh is one of, if not my favourite legendaries. Zapdos was shamelessly my flyer in my childhood playthrough of blue, so I think it defaults to my favourite, but Articuno is so pretty, and fires my favourite type of the three... I don't want to miss out on one if they are exclusive to the team you choose so I need to think carefully.
My area is a Drowzee nest, I'd say like 80% is Drowzee by my house, with the sporadic Gastly around, but never close enough for me to catch at home. >_< I'm surprised at how many water types are around though, I guess they like my neighbours' pools.

If they had released gens 1 and 2 at the same time and Lugia was a choice for a team, there'd be no questions asked, I'd be on that team in a heartbeat. Lugia is my all time favorite legendary, and Ho-oh is up there too! The legendary birds from gen 1 are just... meh to me, but Zapdos is cool looking and I love electric types, so :lol: Plus I seem to have chosen correctly. The gym across the street from my house is usually controlled by Team Instinct, and the gym right next to where I work is also controlled by Team Instinct.
Yes! It was awesome just sitting outside and catching Pokemon. I wasn't feeling well yesterday, so I didn't feel like doing a lot of walking anyway.

When I left home for work my eggs were at 0.2km. I wanted to try to earn some kms while I was working, but I'm not allowed to use my phone on the floor. We're only allowed to use them in the break room during lunch or breaks. I kept the app open and my phone in my pocket while I was working. I didn't earn any kms. All I did was drain my battery and waste data. :huh:
I thought there was an update, kicking you out when you go faster than 17 km/h? But anyway, 10 km first! You might get a Lapras ;) 2 km ones might have a bulbasaur, charmander or squirtle tho!

My 10km one hatched two days ago and I was pretty proud, because most of it was from me walking the last few days. I got a really powerful Snorlax!
We went to the Farmers Market tonight, and I couldn't believe how many Pokestops were down there! It's really neat how the app gets you out and exploring your area--all the Pokestops were part of the area's downtown Sculpture Walk. Super cool! My 6yo played it on our drive home and is pretty good at catching! I'm not so great, but I did catch an Eevee and a Pidgeotto in the backseat of our truck after gymnastics this morning!
I GOT A PONYTA!! This is very exciting for me hahah and I also reached Level 8 (almost 9 and then my battery died) since I don't have to share it with my daughter this week (she's staying with her cousins until tomorrow).
My hometown newspaper reported that an idiot with an outstanding warrant went to the local police department (it's a gym), following his PokemonGO app, the police looked outside, so him, and arrested him :rofl: I love hearing stories like this!
On a serious note though, I have really bad social anxiety, and this app has really helped me get out of my shell--I've walked up to so many people and just started chatting about Pokemon, something I would never, ever thought I'd do in a million years. It gives me the warm fuzzies. My mom told me (while laughing at my geekiness) that she was so proud of me. I got tips on using Lucky Eggs today from a Level 14 guy, a fellow Valor teammate helped me get a Magmar last night, and some younger teens randomly told me where to find a bunch of Staryu. I know a lot of people are making fun of us for playing this game, but I just think it's so great. I met a mom last night who has an autistic son--he hates going outside, and he actually asked to go for a walk yesterday through town, to catch Pokemon. She downloaded the game right then and was right there with him, just supporting him and making sure he didn't walk into the road. I love it!

IOS Canada is apparently getting it on July 31, so I don't have it yet. But hubby has been playing on his Google/Nexus phone. I have to admit I've never played a pokemon game, but I've been having fun just catching some on his phone, and it gets him to go for walks with me :D
I hate the haters though. Makes me so angry how some people are so judgmental and asking "well what is next?". I feel like they're forgetting Pokémon was a trend in the 90s too.

I have some posts on that reddit thread, since I live in an eevee nest XP The eeveelutions you get are random, but it seems like vaporeon is pretty common to get. I have 5 of them now and 1 jolteon, though I caugjt 1 vaporeon in the wild today.

Awe see I couldnt get it to work for me, and I even closed out the game after naming them and reopened it and evolved them one by one and exiting the app and re opening the game with all of them. I dont know if im just doing something wrong with this method or if its just coincidence with so many people. Im stuck with so many caporeon named Sparky and Pyro! I need about two more wild eevees to get enough candy to try it again, I want another flareon so bad! Im saving my CP426 eevee for any other methods that seem to be working.

Does anyone here have the 3 foot step for every pokemon bug? It's driving me crazy. Also doesn't help I only have rattatas and pidgeys around me. -_-
A couple days ago I noticed that the maps were showing a city view instead of a street view when you caught a pokemon. (Now I just have a white space). I feel like the 3 steps are related to that.
Like (*maybe*, I'm guessing) it can't tell you something is close by because it's basing it off of that larger city map... so everything is 3 steps. But what's worse, is that even if something is on top of you, it's not showing it accurately in the 9 nearby grid. That's more irritating.
I don't know if having less specifics is making it easier on the already at capacity servers... and it was a temp solution--- but I'll be happy when we can track things down. Especially when I found this https://dragonav.net/ and I'm hoping it's actually accurate because it makes sense to me to have a visual like that.
Okay, this seriously isn't fun anymore. The GPS isn't keeping up with me, it lags for 5 minutes, then time warps to wherever in an instant, so I can't get any steps on my eggs. The walk to/from on work is almost a mile, and I didn't even get .01 of a kilometer :/
Not to mention I haven't been able to fight anything because it will never register me as being at a gym.
I wish I didn't have this problem, and it frustrates me because it seems like it's only me? And this game could be so great, and I want to like it. But it only works if I'm at home, connected to my own Wifi. I can't play it walking around because of the lagging, battery draining, and data wasting (not to mention the crashing and glitching), but walking around is supposed to be the whole point of the game. Sorry to be such a downer, I want to love this game so much. I just wish it worked, lol.
It's just all the server issues. Everyone is dealing with them. Maybe wait awhile and try to play it later when the hype cools off and the servers are stable .Thanks so much for responding, it's really a relief to know it's not just me! The game doesnt use up too much data honestly... I read you can download local maps through google maps (?) So it's even less data.

I got a question. How does everyone feel about Pokemon hunting in cemeteries?
Some people on another message board were saying that anybody playing Go needs to stay out of cemeteries. If the cemetery has a sign up asking people not to play on their grounds, I'll respect that. But I don't see the harm it walking around a cemetery (during the day). There's one about 7 or 8 blocks from my house. I just drove through there after work. It has about a dozen PokeStops and a gym.

I want to thank you again, Banditpony! I downloaded the maps last night and today it was much better, my person was actually **walking.** I'm excited to go down to the river and hit some gyms later. I went by the piers yesterday and joined a group of people walking around, but it was lagging and glitching so badly all I got was a single Magicarp, lol. I still had fun meeting people, though.
I'm yet to find a charmander (my starter), but have found lots of squirtles and bulbasaurs hanging around. I stumbled across 2 lure modules today while doing the rounds of the local stops, so I got a full level up almost. I'm on 10 right now. Has anyone else had the "horsea glitch?" Everytime a horsea spawns, it either disappears before I can get to catch it, or I catch it then get a server glitch and it disappears from my list of pokemon. 6 times in the last two days. Almost always horsea. Once it was an Ekans, but I restarted the app which fixed that. But with horsea, it doesn't work. urgh. Not terribly fussed about the horsea though, at least I already have one, but it's annoying. Buzz, try to catch, disappears, buzz, catch, disappears. buzz... urgh.. walk away.

How in the world do you both have Gyrados's? I just ran into my first Magikarp for the very first time last night, and it takes 400 candies to evolve it. :blink: Considering I only just now ran into my first Magikarp I can't see that happening in under a year's time. :lol:

I have a question - Does battling in gyms actually increase your Pokemon's CP? Getting to a gym with my incredibly wonky GPS never happens, and the one time it worked, I got annihilated and my monsters' CPs didn't go up. I would rather just avoid the whole process of gym fighting if it doesn't actually increase CP or anything.

Instinct has a pretty decent showing over here. But I think it's because both Instinct and Mystic seem to make it a priority to get rid of Valor instead of each other.
Woooowwww! I'm jealous of all those Pokestops! I work at a college, but it's a community college that doesn't have a huge campus. Of the 5 Pokestops there, the building I work in is one, so at least there's that.
I'm at 9.8/10km on my current egg. I suspect it'll hatch while I'm at work today. I'm also really close to being level 20!
I caught a 660cp Eevee yesterday and it evolved into a very strong Flareon, which is great because my last Flareon was incredibly weak.
Cubone is driving me nuts right now. They keep spawning just out of reach. And the one time one did spawn near me. It spawned right next to an Eevee while I was on the T. Aimed for Cubone but got Eevee.
We had better luck this evening. We took a little stroll to walk her egg and there was a growlithe right outside our door and a pidgey in the yard! That was such a delightful surprise after our hot, disappointing test run. She also caught a paras, geodude, ekans and ratata during our walk. When we got home she caught a ratatata and exeggcute in the backyard and a cubone in the living room. It was so cute to see it hopping up and down on the end table! :)
I'm guessing some pokemon only pop up at night like in G/S/C? It seems we have venemoths, venognats dugtrios, fearows and dodrios at night.
Curious if im the only one who also uses Pokenotify? Its for Andriod only, and was recently taken down from Google Play...but it works similar to the Pokémon Go Plus device that is coming out in September, except its a free app for your phone that tells you what Pokemon species is nearby and what time it will dissappear. Better than a $40 buzzing light-up pokeball cursor wristband. That along with Pokevision is how ive been so victorious!

I was going to skip my evening walk today because I was so tired after dinner, but I had three eggs close to hatching so I went out anyway. Ended up walking for almost 40 minutes, hatching 6 eggs (four 2km and two 5km) in the process. I got two Pikachu, so I'm closer to Raichu- I've always liked Raichu way better! So excited!

A coworker notified me that there was one nearby. It showed up in my nearby Pokemon, too. It was on lunch, so it seemed like maybe it was going to work as I had plenty of time. I searched the whole store and couldn't see any sign of getting any closer to it. =( So I...used PokeVision. I found out it was way out there behind the store.
Despite it being scary and the middle of the night, I actually went out to try to get it. LOL. But the land behind the store is closed off thanks to construction, and that's probably where the Cubone was, or maybe even behind that plot of land. I did not want to try to go around as I was already outside in the middle of the night all by myself. >.<

Had you already evolved an Eevee with that nickname into a Jolteon before? I've read from multiple sources that it only works one time for each Eeveelution. After that, it's back to being random.
I've heard some speculation about that. One is, did you have another Sparky at the time. Another is, had that specific Pokemon been nicknamed something else before you switched it again to Sparky?
Maybe I'll try again with Sparky for a more powerful Jolteon. It's a shame that it's consistently the weakest of the three since Vaporeon is the king of every gym it seems. :pout:
I caught a Tauros at work last night! I wasted so many Pokeballs on it, though. I wasn't doing anything differently, but they'd spin off in the wrong direction. o.o I've heard of curve throws, but I'm not doing anything differently, so I don't understand why that was happening.

I went for a walk after work. Just wandering, no real plan. I was MANY blocks from home (maybe a mile) when it started to thunder. I knew that was my cue to go home, but I was only a block away from a church with two PokeStops. I decided to grab those stops and then head home. Yeah, I wasn't fast enough. I got a little drenched on the way home. Passed by a used car dealership on the way home. Two people were sitting by their picture window laughing at me as I walked past in the rain. As I approached my house a car stopped in the road and the guy (a total stranger!) offered me a ride. Eek! Even if I wasn't already at my house, I still wouldn't have gotten in the car with him.
On the bright side I hatched two eggs! One was a Poliwag and the other was my first Slowpoke.

There's an update out(at least for android) and now they've broken the tracking completely! At least when they all showed up as 3 steps away, you could click on them and maybe tell what direction they were from you (it would pulse when you were heading the right way) Now you can't even do that! :(

Did you try uninstalling/reinstalling and logging out of Google on your phone at least? :/ It can't hurt to just follow the steps just in case...

No srsly, I drank one and didn't sleep for 4 days. It was 4 straight days of jittery, macaroni-bingeing, unblinking video games.
I mostly play at work (I know,I know...bad Renia!) but summer semester means a lot less students to work with, so I'm not busy 90% of the time and just sitting at my desk anyway. Plus my building is a Pokestop, so it'd be a waste not take advantage of that.This, so much this! We've got a gym around with high 2k/low3k, and I'm just like...what the heck do you do all day to jave that strong of a Pokemon? We mostly play for my 6yo, and it's just not fun when you go through 6 Pokemon in battle in less than 30 seconds. I don't have time or gas money to go into town and grind like some of these people do. The most excitement she gets is just reading through the Pokedex.
I also play when I go on walks. I still don't play as much as I did a few weeks ago, though.
I really, really want things to get better in this game. I don't hate the most recent update as much as I did last week, but a lot of things still bug me. The tracker might as well not even be there if they're fixing it, and gyms aren't very fun unless your Pokémon are near 2000CP. I've been playing since day 1 and I just can't compete with some of these people, and that takes the fun out of it. :(
1. I don't have any friends that are also Team Instinct. So there's no fighting alongside anyone for me unless I just happen to run into strangers who are also Instinct. Even when I go walking with my friends, they can team up with each other, but I'm the lone Instinct in the group. I was the first one in our group to play the game, the first to hit level 5 and join a team, and I thought we would all pick the same team (we all like Zapdos more than the other two), but no one else picked Instinct despite that. I'm actually kinda salty over that, tbh. :pout:
If you have any team Mystic or Valor friends (whoever opposes the gym you're after) friends you actually can fight together. Just at the end whoever clicks the fastest/has the fastest phone/places a pokemon faster will get the gym. I have a coworker on Instinct and we do it all the time. (My phone is faster than his ;) )
I will say that after they revelaed what the team leaders looked like...I wish I had joined Instinct. xD
Wasn't the legendary birds thing a hack/cheat/glitch, so technically NO ONE was supposed to have them yet? In that case, it makes sense for Niantic to remove them.
I stopped playing the game for about two and half weeks and I am way too far behind to catch up. Plus, Iuourstubborn and not wanting to shell out cash to buy more Pokeballs, but don't have the patience to hover around a PokeStop just to refill on them. xD
I have friends that play the game, but they are either on different teams or dont live right near me or on a schedule that works with mine. ^^'

Apparently the whole breaking out of balls more often is a bug, and niantic is working on it. O_o Go figure. I just thought they did it on purpose.
I like going up to gyms I see of another color that are being attacked. Ask the person battling them if they're mystic, and if they are I take it down with them. :D So fun.
YAY a magnemite just appeared at my work, finally a new random pokemon not from an egg! That puts me at 110 caught. Getting closerrrrr..
Honestly, I think some players were just trying to start up chaos for the giggles. xD Like how apparently someone had started a Mewtwo rumor in Japan and a bunch of players went to one spot in hopes of him showing up.
I wish there were Charmanders around!!! My only has come from an egg. Never on any radars. Some squirtles around, lots of Bulbasaurs, ivysaurs and venusaurs in the area. I went to a supposed Charmander nest and didn't see any, perhaps the nest had changed by then to another Pokemon.
I still need Kabuto too, that's another I've never seen anywhere.

Got my first Pikachu today!
I hatched him from an egg while walking round the park.
I squeed rather loudly and jumped about (to the embarrassment of my BF, but he's used to me now though!) and the teenagers need by all reached for there phones saying "quick she's caught a Pikachu" I apologised and told them I'd hatched him and they looked quite disappointed.

I just got a phone that's compatible with this! I'm enjoying it so far, though I think I much prefer the traditional Pokemon games. XD
Is there a way to tell how far away a Pokemon is from you in the "Sightings" box or if you're getting closer to it? From what I've read, there are (were?) footprints somewhere that indicate the distance, but either I'm missing them or they're not there anymore...
I got TWO 10 km eggs, the day after I scared my friend, I got another one, I was shocked!
The first one hatched into an electabuzz and the second one hatched into hitmonlee, I didnt have either of them yet!
I also have had a pokemon in a gym for two days now, which is *really* shocking around here, doubly so because I'm Team Instinct. :P

I've been hearing that certain Pokestops are more likely to spit out certain eggs? No idea if it's true or not though.

I havnt been playing much, but earlier I tried to play today and I keep getting this thing that comes up saying "unable to authenticate". I know I wasnt banned and I checked my email to make sure and got nothing from them, so idk what is going on! I havnt done anything to get banned, so idk why it all of a sudden isnt working. I played it a few days ago in the park and it was working just fine. Last time I played before that was out near Austin. I just havnt been playing much as the hype dramtically went down for me this month, its not fun to play anymore because of these login and server errors.
edit: so apparently this is some kind of common problem with Google accounts now? Ive been watching vids on how to fix it with airplane mode but it isnt working for me. Ive got the newest version of the game updated. The servers are running. Wth Niantic...

I just did something totally evil in Pokemon Go! Our local post office is a gym. My mom needed to go by there this afternoon to mail some bills. When we go there somebody was battling the gym. They finished just as mom put her bills in the drop box. When the gym went gray, I slipped in and put one of MY Pokemon in there first. :devious: I was in a hurry so I accidentally put in my weaker Snorlax. Oh well, I still got my 10 coins.

We had friends over last night to play board games and stuff, and as soon as two of my other friends who play PoGo showed up, a Snorlax popped up in the game. We all rushed outside to find it, walked for a bit, and found it in the parking lot of a local donut shop. Seems fitting.
It always surprises me which pokemon are rare in one area and common in others: my town is crawling with ponyta, geodude, abra, growlithe, eevee, and cubone, even pikachu is fairly common(at least 1 shows up a day), but weedle and caterpie are pretty unusual, grass types in general are few and far between, and water types are practically non existent unless you hatch them.

Did a 5K today with a friend and we both hatched eggs with Pokémon that we didn't have before. I got a Hitmonchan and a Dratini from 10K eggs! My Dratini hatched with 36 candies so I evolved it. One step closer to having one of my favorite Gen 1 Pokémon!

I've been mentioning how Pokemon GO hasn't been working for me quite some time, that the GPS signal is never found. I found out why - Upgrading to iOS 10 for some reason reset my location settings to default completely off. =/
Why would an update do that? It wasn't something I even thought of, because I didn't think that updating the phone would change those settings.

I'm so excited to read everyone's updates!! ^_^ I had a first for me two days ago - I was in Walmart (long overdue to check in there!) and I saw a Flareon - IN THE WILD! :O I evolved one already (only my second eevolution!), but I really wanted to catch one, as Eevees are some of my fave pokemon! HOWEVER - I was out of poke balls!! I'd been catching pokemon like crazy all day, and I'd just run out when FLAREON appeared!!
I was 4k to level, and I'd been saving up a bunch of evolutions, so in the middle of Walmart, I cracked a lucky egg and started speed-evolving all of my pokemon!! XD It was a bit surreal, but I got my level after about five minutes, and brand new ultra balls - and I CAUGHT THE FLAREON! X3 So excited!! Now I have three flareons and three jolteons, and NO vaporeons! :( When I evolved my last two Eevees, I figured, "I don't need to use the nickname trick, the law of averages will make sure I get a vaporeon!" Nope! :P
I'm in California, so we are FLUSH with fire types around here; I have a team of four Arcanines and four Rapidashes, and I have so many Ponytas that I had to release a bunch of them for space! ^^; It's neat, because I love fire types, and Ponyta especially - but ALL of the gyms are dominated by them! I need a water type to beat the gyms, and they are a huge pain to find! :P
Anyway, back to my actual point, my pokedex is at 89 seen, 90 caught - and it's solely because I found a Lickitung at Disneyland, my friends all caught him, and he ran away from me! :P Rude!!
@Duenia: Awesome! It must feel great to be done with a three evolution line! Do you have many more to complete? The ones I have left are Bulbasaur, Charmander, Abra, Machop, and Dratini lines, and all but Dratini I need over 100 candies to go (I want one of each Pokemon, so I need to evolve extras of the middle stage).
@Duenia- Seriously? Haha, we really are PoGo buddies, we need practically the same things. Are you in a Drowzee infestation too? :lol: I'll always go for evolving my strongest Pokemon, but I won't go out of my way to get a high/perfect IV though. Unless it's a Snorlax/Lapras/Dragonite/Gyarados it doesn't seem to matter because of the CP cap.

That's understandable.
The newest update will have added bonuses for catching so many Pokemon of a certain type, as well as being able to take 6 Pokemon with you to battle a friendly gym as opposed to one (Thank God!). Those were the two biggest things with this update that I can remember.
Fingers crossed that the next update is tracking related.

Yep, they changed all the nests and spawns up, now they are random, but still the same type, if they still have anything.
On the plus side, a lot more Pokémon spawn randomly now, I catch tons more from my own house haha, and they aren't all pidgeys and ratattas like they used to be!
Im really sad I didnt catch a decent Snorlax before all the tracking sites stopped working, I have one but hes only a 274 cp one, haha.

@Haruna- I'm guessing Florida is one of those magical places I hear about that Drowzee is the rarest of the rare? You can literally get enough Drowzee here to evolve a Hypno in an hour...if you're so unlucky to not find a Hypno before grinding all those candies. What Pokemon is super common for you?

IV basically affects how much your Pokemon's stats are multiplied when they evolve and it decides their ending CP once you hit level 30. You can figure out IV using the appraisal system to some degree. It varies based on your team what you're looking for to denote CP. I just know for Mystic that if Blanche says your Pokemon is a wonder that it has 80 - 100% IV. There are also IV calculators on the internet and on Android there are also apps that will tell you what the IV is.
So for an example I had two Pidgeots that were about the same. One got 27 CP per power up while the other got 9 CP per power up. It was because the first one had a significantly higher IV as I found out once the appraisal system came out.
And omg anytime I get in the car that stupid notification comes up, "driving too fast!" even if I clicked the passenger button like 10 minutes ago! >_< Like, im happy they added the buddy Pokémon and ditto, but its not enough for me to play unless they bring back the footstep tracking.
I can't get back to sleep right now so I opened up Pokémon Go...it still has me positioned at Port Canaveral in Florida. :lol: There are a ton of Pokémon there, good ones that I need, so I feel like if I open it up periodically, I'll close to getting all the remaining Pokémon I need. Seriously. The port has so many Pokémon!

I was thinking about this, but the only Christmas-y Pokemon from gen 1 I can think of is Jynx...I would like more candy bonuses though.
I think my favourite part of the event, despite the advertising, is that Drowzee are RARE right now. I don't even care if all I see are Gastly line, Cubone and Meowth, there's barely any Drowzee! Really hoping to hatch some eggs I need, my 5KM was a Psyduck though, so I have a feeling I won't be too lucky.
Maybe just ice type Pokemon in general? Jynx, Dewgong, Lapras, Cloyster? Or, since this event is based around candy, the Christmas one could be like... Pokestops giving out items (or Christmas presents) like Lucky Eggs and Incense.

Ohh, I like these ideas. I need a Lapras *grabby hands* And more eggs, incense, etc. would always be welcome. I'm sure they'll do something for Christmas. And, I'm so excited! I FINALLY hatched a Diglett! It was driving me insane. Now I officially have one of each evolvable Pokemon. Now if I can get lucky and hatch/find Licki, Chansey, and Magmar.

I only have nicknames for my Jolteon, Flareon (because of the whole evolution trick) and Dragonair (it's 22CP, so I called it Don'tHurtMe:( and stuck it in a gym and seeing if anyone would leave it alone, it was kicked out in an hour. :lol:). Has anyone noticed the diversity has gotten amazingly better since the Halloween update. No overabundance of Drowzee, and within two hours I caught two Bulbas, two Vulpix, Dratini, and Machop. That's not including the things I didn't run out for either...and there may be a Kabutops that spawned late last night that I didn't notice in time to go after. >_< I love this, especially with trackers working well again.Maybe you're right! Yup, Niantic is killing their own game. They speed locked Pokestops, so even if you are a passenger and you tap the I'm a Passenger prompt, you won't be able to access stops of the car is going over 5mph.
That was literally the only way I could get stops on a daily basis. The building I work in is a stop, but my avatar is frickin' stupid and just runs around the parking lot so I can never spin the stop WHILE I'M JUST SITTING AT MY DESK.
I've heard that people with the Plus wristband for the game are also unable to get Pokémon or stops while driving.

I'm also thinking of quitting the game. Even if I go walking around my neighborhood, I won't pass any stops. All the stops are on the other side of town. This is crap.
I do agree to an extent that if the game is meant solely for walking, then limit what you can do while in a vehicle BUT what about people who go running and want to play? I'm new to running, but I can easily go over 5mph, which seems to be the limit for getting stops and having Pokémon spawn.
I just can't see myself caring about this game unless they introduce Gen 2 sometime soon. Even then, there's so much wrong with this game now. Heck, the tracker thing is the least of my problems with the game at this point.

I had the poke-battle of my life yesterday when a Wild Dragonite appeared! He was sooo hard to catch and I was sure he was gonna slip away at any moment but I got him after a 10 minute battle! Yaay!Awesome!! That must have been so nervewracking. Great going!

You know, with the new daily bonuses, it could be in an egg you get as a bonus on thay 7th day...that would explain why he said it should show up in a week or two!
I plan on making sure to have an empty egg spot on that 7th day pokestop spin, thats for sure!

I'm sad that my Arcanines levels all dropped, but my Rhydons went up quite a bit, and overall, I have more 2000+ CP pokemon now, so I guess I like it. :)

Has anyone been finding that Abra has a higher flee rate than other Pokemon? Even when the ring is green, they break out of great balls, and run right away when I use a berry. I've had so many run away from me if I missed it first ball, I wonder if it's an intentional thing because of the whole teleport thing.Funny thing is I feel like Pidgeys and starters flee from me more often, lol. But obviously I run into them more so that's not reliable. I think I have heard that Abras have a crazy high flee rate.
I just don't count Lickitung anymore. I saw one in my sightings the other day, and no matter what direction I went, it disappeared off my sightings so I could not for the life of me figure out what direction to go. After aimlessly walking around for ten or fifteen minutes, it completely de-spawned. I consider that close enough to finding it at this rate.The directionless tracker can be really annoying! Trying to hunt as much as I can, but I am absolutely out of room in my pokemon storage, so every six pokemon I gotta send some away! ;) I mean, I COULD get rid of some of my Arcanine army, but I love them so...I know what you mean! I even caved and bought some storage the other day and I'm still running out of room. I would keep an army of Arcanines, too :heart: As it is I have an army of Growlithes. I have a few other armies, too (Vulpixes and Eevees come to mind). This game is kind of bringing out the collector tendencies in me, lol
Yeah so... I'm done trying to get a Ditto. I kid you not my Pokémon space was full of Pidgey and Rattata that I've caught in the past week. I was saving them up to evolve for XP (which I already did). It's super frustrating, especially when people are like "Getting a Ditto is SO EASY! Just catch everything you run into."
Yeah. Okay. It feels so condescending at this point.
Doesn't help that not being able to spin Pokestops while I'm a passenger means I have close to no Pokeballs to use, and it takes me about 5 Pokeballs -at least- to catch a low CP Pidgey anymore. For reference, there's one stop in my neighborhood and one at my job. I pass about 5 on any given day in the car, so I'm missing out on those.

Something kinda funny, though. Niantic posted on Facebook asking people to share their stories of Ditto encounters and I was kinda glad that so many people share my frustrations. Most of the top comments were people getting tired of wasting so many Pokeballs on low CP Pokemon, plus the added frustration of not finding Ditto yet. I know these things take time, I just wish people would stop saying "it's so easy" like we're doing something wrong.

I just haven't been playing, I'm so close to the end, but I feel like there is no point anymore. Two of the five Pokemon I need to evolve I have only gotten through egg hatches, or from a nest that is gone, so I'm not going to bank on unexpectedly find them on a walk. One doesn't have an evolution and is flat out rare. The other two did show up occasionally, but since Ditto brought forth the Pidgey and Rattata infestation back, I barely see them anymore. Plus, it's colder now so I don't feel it's rewarding to walk the remaining KM to buddy grind.
So I've managed to get up to the 4-day-in-a-row bonus (yahoo!!), and while I'm loving the extra exp and such, has anyone else noticed a SHARP decline in the items you get from pokestops? It used to be that, occasionally, I'd get 5-10 items at once, usually averaging a couple of pokeballs and a couple potions, and today I never got anything over 3, except for the initial "bonus" spin. :/ It seemed like every pokestop I hit, I'd get one pokeball, a candy, and a potion. And considering how many pidgeys I'm trying to catch for a Ditto, I'm blowing through the pokeballs like crazy!

I've been going back and forth between being excited about Gen 2 possibly happening soon, and not wanting it. But, like you, I've realized I won't be completing the dex anyway because nothing of note ever shows up around me (it's upsetting but it makes sense that this game caters more to people who live in cities). So I'll just get excited that my favorite generation is going to pop up in the game in the near future!
But watch, I won't be able to get any of my favorite Pokemon. Kinda like how I don't have any of my favorites from Gen 1 because they're hard to catch/find. :rolleyes:
Have you thought about parking at the mall and taking the T Downtown? Since you can catch stuff on the T and get some of the Pokestops (while covering a large area for some variety) it may be your best bet.
I got Snorlax today! I saw him on my nearby map as he spawned by my local grocery store so I hurried down and there he was.
I'm up to 135 unique pokemon now. Still no trace of Ditto though.
I'm currently at 107 caught, 135 seen, and a lot of those are evolutions I'm trying to get candy for. (Right now my walking buddy is Ivysaur, who I only managed to evolve through the double-walking-candy campaign, and then it'll be Charmelon, etc.!) I evolved a Nidoqueen recently, which was really cool; I think they upped the number of Nidoran/Nidorina around here, which helps, since I'm also really close to my Nidoking! I also finally got enough Jigglypuff to evolve into Wigglytuff!Caught: 88 / Seen: 102

That is a sad fact for me, but luckily I have some Evos to do soon and some of those are new for me.. Thing is I can't go all around town to look for pokemon because of work and I work on the edge of two.. so I see the same pokemon constantly (Bellsprout, Exeggcute, Weedle, Pidgey, Rattata, Nidoran, Venonat, sometimes Oddish..) -- you can tell what kind of biome is here for pokemon.. there was a day that there were lots of Tauros though and Psyduck tends to spawn near one of the Sonics closer to me XDI find it really interesting to hear what spawns in different areas. It sounds like your biome is similar to mine (makes sense); lots of bug and grass types. We do have a lot of poison and a lot of water Pokemon, though, since there's a body of water of some size every half mile. (You can imagine what our gyms look like.) I didn't realize until recently that we're so far south in Florida that we don't get Tauros spawning here (we're outside of the "North America" latitude line in Niantic's reckoning). My sister and I started playing shortly before we went on vacation in the panhandle and got Tauros there, so I'd never thought about the fact that we don't see them down south here until recently.
I've notice when th the latest update that I'll get the buzz and vibration to signal a Pokemon has spawned, yet nothing is there.

Well I live outside of town and ran out of incense, so I've only been driving to a nearby pokestop everyday to get my bonus and catch s Pokémon. I have three of the santachus and need to catch on more to evolve one up. I'm still at level 23. When school started back up I had less time to play, and I'm unable to really hit gyms hard as most everyone around has their players close to level 30, and my Pokémon are not high enough. It takes me ages to knock out a gym. -_-I know what you mean, I can't do much due to work. I forgot what level I am currently but no where near level 30

The starters are live! I like the new loading screen too.The new loading screen is so cute! My sister and I wandered far and wide catching starters after she got off of work, and I actually could evolve a Blastoise now but will probably hold off until she can since Squirtle's her favorite. (I had Squirtle candy from before, didn't catch all that tonight!) Also caught a good amount of Charmanders and I'm about 30 candies away from a Charizard! (only had caught about 20 Charmanders before this, aside from my starter, and have been walking him a long time; it will be so exciting to finally get a Charizard!)
Anyone hatch any babies from the event so far? I've hatched one Igglybuff and one Smoochum (though, I wouldn't say that one counts because I got the egg before the event) so far. They don't really seem that much more common though, most of the eggs I've picked up were all the same old Pokemon I normally hatch. Don't know if that is happening for everyone else or I'm just super unlucky.
About 21km away from Kabutops now. Then I can focus on getting my last Doduo candies. Still no sign of Licky, my coworker had two spawn by his home (and daily Aerodactyls), I'm so jealous.
Uh, highest gym I tried to knock out? I think somewhere between 6-8? I didn't succeed though, they were Pokemon in their high 2000s-3000s, and I didn't have a Pokemon over 2000 at that point. I was bored at a restaurant which is why I even bothered. I don't battle in gyms at all anymore, not enough room in my bag for a healthy supply of Pokeballs and potions...

I wished stops would give out more revives. It used to be I'd throw away revives because I'd have too many. Now I can't battle in gyms because I'm still waiting to get enough revives to restore my best fighters.

Lapras is my favorite gen 1 Pokémon and I was crushed that I've never run into one, even though I've been playing this game since day 1. It was in the parking lot at the grocery store. My husband spotted it on his phone and was like "Open the app, hurry!" He didn't tell me what it was, just that.I'd be excited. :lol: took one Pokeball, and it has decent CP too.
Aside from that, I caught a bunch of Charmander and Bulbasaur. Can't seem to find any Squirtle.

In the last two days I've either caught, hatched, or evolved to get 15 Pokémon I didn't have before. :shocked:Cool! Hope you get those last Charmander and Venasaur candies. This event was pretty cool overall; I even saw a wild Charizard (which I missed out on, but the experience was awesome). Now that we're back to the same old, same old, it's kind of boring, but sometimes not. I don't like seeing Venonat, Pidgey, Oddish, Zubat all over my sightings, but the other day I stumbled onto a touristy area near the beach with Seels and Shellders showing on the radar. I almost never see those and want to go back and get a Dewgong. :) I probably should go to touristy places more often. And the other day there was a Wigglytuff randomly wandering my neighborhood, which was fun to catch. And after two running away from me, I found another Growlithe yesterday (yay! love Growlithe) and a very good IV Eevee (say that five times fast).
Has anyone else (in the US) noticed a lot of Tauros popping up? I see them two, three, even four at a time sometimes! They're everywhere! Go away, Tauros! It's becoming the new Pidgey/Weedle/Rattata/Venonat/Nidoran/Zubat of my area.
You have no idea how many Tauros I run into daily... I start wishing for Pidgeys because at least they might be a Ditto.

I really have no idea. I only caught my first Lapras a few weeks ago and I've been playing this game since day one. I would assume that Lapras spawns near water but both times I've run into one now, it hasn't been anywhere near water. I've seen Dragonite on my radar a few times now, but it was seemingly random.

I've now caught more than one Snorlax and have seen their shadows on the radar before (before the sightings disappeared), but I've never seen so much as a hint of a Dragonite. Do you have a Dragonite or have you seen one, pinkkittywinks? I'm probably wrong with my theory (or at least I hope so).

I didn't see a time on the official post, but lots of people are saying 11am PST so...half an hour ago it should've started. :)I was at a Seel nest today and then randomly saw a Lickitung at a Pokestop across the road. I hurried over to catch it, of course, and while I did so was swarmed by Exeggcute. I noticed a Wigglytuff and Jigglypuff on my sightings, but they were across the freeway. I went back to the park full of Seel (I'm trying to get a Dewgong) and, since spawns were slow, looked on the Internet and found out there was a Valentine's event and that it had just started :lol: From then on the park was full of Exeggcute; it was ridiculous and pretty funny. The Seel spawns stayed the same, though, so I finally got enough for a Dewgong (yay!) and double candy, too. I'm excited about that and double candy for my buddy, Dratini. I've been walking her for quite a while now and am only at 47 candies. Yay for Valentine's events :) I'd call this one "the invasion of the Exeggcute," though.

My sister found a Porygon already and caught her first Lickitung; we also found a Clefairy together, which was fun.

Same. Although I read something just a bit disheartening (not sure if it's totally true, but it.makes sense given the comments I was reading). Basically, if you're in an area that doesn't typically spawn Chansey, this event won't help you get one essily. For instance, I live in an area where Jigglypuff and Clefairy are pretty common, so now I'm seeing them way more often. People who live in Chansey heavy areas are seeing more Chansey, people who see Slowpoke every once in a while are getting a ton of those...
Basically, this event just ups the chances of seeing pink Pokémon that you're already used to seeing.
I hope they fix this. Otherwise this is a pretty lame event. Make the spawns more random!

GEN 2 IS COMING!I'm excited, too! I actually don't know as much about this generation -- I can name about half but am not very familiar with their abilities/types. Thankfully my sister is a Pokémon buff and can tell me all I don't know, and it might be even more interesting this way, catching creatures that are unfamiliar to me. I've saved some high-stat Eevees for Umbreon and Espeon, and I really want to catch a Furrett and Swinub because I think they're cute :) Oh, and Chikorita and Cyndaquil and Corsula. And this is kind of inconsequential, but new clothes for avatars will be a welcome change as well. Now I need to go stock up on Pokeballs to prepare for catching Pokémon!

I plan on hoarding a bunch of Furret and naming them all after my 5 ferrets. :lol: It's always been one of the cutest Pokemon to me.Awesome! I'm collecting every Sentret I see (or at least I was -- currently I'm out of normal Pokeballs and I'm trying to save my Great and Ultras) so that I can get Furrets. I asked my sister what an Ampharos is and I think I remember that one; I've always liked Mareep, which I think evolves into Ampharos. I want to catch a Cyndaquil, too! Fire types are usually rare around here, so we'll see. I saw the shadow of a Totodile and we caught a Chikorita last night :heart:
Gen 2 has my favorite Pokemon (Ampharos), starter (Cyndaquil) and legendary (Lugia) so I'm obviously kinda biased in my excitement. But I hope that I'm able to finish the dex for Gen 1 as well.
Along with the more common Pokemon, I got two Totodile and one Chikorita at my apartment. Yay!

Apparently Togetic had a 1% catch rate, no matter which balls and berries were used...but I caught both of the ones I saw on Saturday and pretty easily too. They raised the catch rate up to 5% yesterday, according to Reddit. I feel kinda lucky.Awesome! I kind of hope I never find a Togetic in the wild, lol, because it would almost certainly run from me. I'll just hopefully hatch a Togepi someday and walk it.
I haven't done any gym battling in a while because while all the ones around me are Instinct, they're also all level 10 so I can't get in. -_- I have noticed lag when it comes to catching Pokémon, or even just having them show up on the screen. I think the most common new ones around me are Houndour, Snubbull, Sentret, and Spinarak. I also see a lot of Hoothoot and sudowodo, too. :)

When I got to work today, there was an Ivysaur near the Pokestop just up the hill from the building I work in. I put my stuff at my desk, then ran out to get it. On my way up the hill, my 2k egg hatched and it was a Bulbasaur! Then I caught the Ivysaur with a Pinap Berry and transferred it and the Bulbasaur I hatched, which means I'm just one Bulbasaur candy away from a Venusaur. Ivysaur is temporarily my walking buddy since I just need that one candy. Once I have Venusaur, I think I'll just be missing 4 or 5 Pokemon from the Gen 1 dex.Awesome! You gotta have the original evolved starters to be a true Pokémon master. Or at least for nostalgia's sake. ^.^ Have you gotten your last candy now?
I got a metal coat. I can't decide on evolving scyther to scizor or onyx to steelix?? D:Steelix is a decent attacker (if you have one with good IVs) but weak to water (*cough cough* Vaporeon); Scizor is a relatively strong attacker, I think, good for use against Pokémon you might find in gyms like Exeggutor (grass/psychic) and Espeon (psychic) and without as many type weaknesses (except fire and maybe a few others). So maybe evolve Scyther first?
I got the last candy I needed during my walk yesterday to evolve Ivysaur into Venusaur! I also hatched an Onix, so now I don't feel so crappy about having two Metal Coats. Since I have more Onix candies, it's my buddy for now. Scyther will be next and then Mareep. :) The 2k egg I had incubating hatched into an Igglybuff, so now I'm just missing two baby Pokémon.

I'm really enjoying this event so far, how about you guys? There are Magikarp everywhere around my job today, haha.Yes, me too! It's great to see so many Magikarp around and, of course, I'm hoping for a shiny one, along with a Lapras. Hope, hope. There are rather a lot of wild Seels in my neighborhood, which never happens; it's just not their biome. And of course there are lots of Squirtles, Totodiles, and Marrills, and a lesser amount of other water Pokémon, like Chimchou, Psyduck, Tentacool, Remoraid and many others. Lots of Goldeen, but I feel kind of bad because I skip over those to save Pokeballs.

I caught a Mareep as I was leaving Wal-Mart!!!!!Congratulations! Why does it seem more and more like Wal-Mart is the go-to place for Pokémon, lol? I found a ton of Pokémon (before this event) at Wal-Mart a few weeks ago and was really surprised to see so many (a Pikachu, some others, and a Donphan that ran away). (I don't normally go to Wal-Mart these days just because it moved too far away from my house.) And lunar_scythe mentioned that she caught her Lapras at a grocery store, and I think Renia found one of hers at a grocery store; I guess Pokémon congregate around stores like Wal-Mart and grocery stores because of all the cellphone use? Maybe I should search for Lapras at Target . . . :lol:

Other than no Totodile sightings, I'm still happy with the event. I got Octillery and Lanturn, which I didn't have before, so that's cool.I love Lanturn! Not only is she cute, but she's a durable prestiger against Vaporeons, with the right moveset. I haven't found a use for Octillery yet, but he's an octopus, so neat. How on earth does he come from a Remoraid? XD
I managed to knock Mantine, Quilfish, Lanturn and Octillery off my list with this event, although I haven't seen a darn Lapras or a Totodile at all.I have a theory that Niantic decided to put Totodile in poison/marsh biomes, rather than water biomes . . . Not sure what to call them; I just know that I'm in that one when I'm not in the grass or water biome areas where I live. Lots of bugs, poison Pokémon like Ekans, water Pokemon, etc. Maybe they were thinking "where do alligators really live" and thought of Florida and other southern areas. That's my best theory, anyway. It stinks that they aren't making Totodiles spawn in every biome, though, when they specifically said they were part of the event.

I'm convinced they forgot to add Totodile to this event outside of places where it already spawned frequently. Never mind the fact that it's featured on the banner they used in the announcement...Niantic dropped the ball there . . .
Is anyone else having an issue in the game where all the Pokémon on the map and radar disappear, even if you're just standing still? It happens to me so frequently now that the game is almost unplayable while I'm walking. It won't let me spin stops either when it does that. And it isn't the same thing as the "are you a passenger?" crap because I don't even get that notification and my avatar is usually standing still or moving slowly.Yeah, I get it pretty frequently; the sightings go totally blank and the Pokémon that I know are around me disappear. Sometimes lately my avatar's face hasn't been in the little circle and once or twice now there's been an error when I catch a Pokémon; thankfully when I started the game back up the said Pokémon counted as caught. (I have an iPhone 5s, by the way.) I hope these little bugs get fixed soon; I worry that they'll accumulate.

I went out of my way this morning while driving to get a Houndour! Houndoom is a favorite of mine, so I'm excited! That's two days in a row having an actual shadow on my radar- crazy!Oh, I want a Houndoom, too! I actually only knew of Houndour's existence before Pokémon Go (I think Houndour was in a Pokémon movie I saw as a kid). I walked my Houndour named Zuko to get enough candy and now I'm waiting on a good IV Houndour (might be a while).

I'll buy incubators for the rare occasions I have a 10k egg. Which means I'm usually only walking 1 egg at a time. Getting into gyms is hard around me so gold is hard to come by. And I try not to put too much real money into the game.Yeah, I get most of my coins through gyms, too, in an effort to save real money and buy incubators, and it's slow going because getting into gyms has become harder and harder in my area (here comes a "woe is me" whine :P); two other teams have kind of "moved in," and the remaining gyms that are my color are filled up. One of these days I'll suck it up and put in the time to destroy the high-level other-team gyms, but it's a lot of time and potions and revives that I don't always have. Yesterday I was happy to find a gym guarded by just two Gyrados, though, a nice two-minute battle. One of them was a cool shiny Gyrados, so I was sorry to kick it out.
All of my 5k eggs from yesterday were either Phanpy or Poliwag. :cry:5k eggs are let-downs so often. :/ Mine lately have been several Staryu and Psyduck (very common here; maybe everywhere?). I was happy to get two Vulpix in a row lately; those have probably been my best hatches lately from 5ks. I think they should actually drop some of the G1s or make them less common in 5ks and add more G2s or something. I don't think Houndour hatches from eggs, for instance, and that would be a reasonable 5k hatch.
I walked my stupid Grimer 99.5 KM in total and finally got Muk. Was that difficult for anyone else? He spawned once and I hatched one and had to walk him the rest of the way. SO GLAD THAT'S OVER.

During this one week I finally had a chance to evolve a few of my water Pokémon (Staryu, Slowpoke, Psyduck, Wooper and Omanyte), and also found new Pokémon (Remoraid, Octillery and Mantine), including Totodile and Lapras! The latter was an especially happy find - on Thursday morning I woke up and got ready to go to the Post Office to pick up a package before work. Not counting timezone differences I thought the event is already over (it was the morning of the 30th here already), so I only turned the game on after I left the PO and was on the way to the tram that takes me to work. The water Pokémon were still abundant (it was about 10 minutes to 9 AM here), and upon approaching the tram stop I noticed a familiar shadow in the nearby - a Lapras! Realising that this might be the only chance I ever see a Lapras, for the very first time in my gameplay I decided to go into a completely different direction compared to where I should be going, and track the Pokémon down. Fearing that 9 AM will be when the event is over, I ran, LOL :D In the end I did get to Lapras in time, and managed to catch it before the clock hit 9 - when, as I expected, all the water Pokémon disappeared :( It was a very fun and memorable ending to the event for me :)Big congrats on your Lapras! ^.^ And yeah -- there's this "after-event letdown" when it seems like all the exciting special Pokémon turn back into Noctowls and Spinaraks. In fact, it seems like there's more common Pokémon around now than usual. (I think that's just my mind playing tricks on me.)

(although I don't mind getting Vulpix and Ponyta when that happens)
I kinda wish you could throw eggs away because I'm not even interested in hatching 5k eggs anymore. It just feels like such a waste.Yeah; I was just looking at the frequency of 5k eggs and a lot of basic Gen 1 Pokémon are the most common: Staryu, Eevee, Paras, Psyduck, Magnemite, Poliwag, Cubone, Drowzee. (those are fairly easy to get for me or I have enough of them (Cubone and Drowzee from Halloween, for instance), although I know different regions are different) Maybe Niantic will change it up . . . someday . . . and add Gen 2 starters. And Houndour and anyone else who's missing. I also think they should add Magikarp back in, since he's useful and in some biomes they don't have him at all or rarely.
Speaking of eggs, I have to wonder why the Gen 2 starters aren't in any eggs. Isn't it bad enough that they didn't let us "pick" a starter like they did with Gen 1?

His subtitle should be Destroyer of Dragonites; I'm very impressed with his Dragonite-defeating abilities.

I'm desperate to know what other Pokemon we can get from 2k eggs at this event.I think the Silph Road has a list; there are lots of great Pokémon you can get (Aerodactyl, Lapras), but I think they're just as rare as usual, meaning you're more likely to get the common 2ks (and others who have moved down, like lunar_scythe mentioned). I guess the good thing is that even if it's common it takes only a very short while to walk it. Then again, that uses up incubators fast and incubators are expensive . . . I usually use my gym earnings for incubators, and so can only afford about 1 a week. I'm debating whether to buy more or whether to just walk more. I'm sick, though, and don't feel like walking more . . .

I had a 10k egg and hadn't had one in forever. My first one hatched an eevee and I hatched a dratini. I was really wanting aerodactyl.My sister's in the same boat. If trading came out, maybe I could trade her my Aerodactyl (I have more than one, as before this event I caught one in the wild) and she could trade me her Togepi. I still can't hatch a Togepi (although at the rapid rate I'm filling my Gen 2 dex, I'm glad it gives me something to look forward to).

Two of my 10k eggs I got during the event hatched, as well as one of the 2ks. I was honestly surprised. I got a Grimer from the 2k, which puts me at 20/50 candies for Muk. From the 10ks I got Dratini and Mareep, which puts me at 48/100 candies for both Dragonite and Ampharos!!! Has anyone noticed that Revive are dropping with much less frequency lately? And in other news, I finally helped with a gym, and have held it for five days! Totally didn't realize you have to claim the gold coins, and missed out on them though. I thought it was going to be automatic. :(I've definitely noticed that, too! For about two weeks I had about thirty Pokémon or more out of action because I had almost no revives or potions. After spending some time visiting Pokestops on drives to and from work and for about an hour on my day off (probably not the best spent time of my life ^^;) I've managed to revive and heal everyone. Now I'm taking a small break from gym battling so that the casualties don't pile up again . . .

Continuing on this "all the cool stuff pops up when I should be sleeping" trend at my house, there was a Flaaffy at 4am the other day, and an Onix yesterday morning. We've seen a slight increase in Bulbasaurs, but if I didn't know the event was going on I wouldn't notice; there are lots of Chikoritas, but again, there always have been. My sister and I did find a Meganium yesterday, though, which I'm sure is thanks to the event. It was CP 35 for me, but that's okay, lol. I've been catching the extra Sunkerns mainly for easy stardust and because they're just too adorable.

I frequent the Pokemon Go subreddit, and I also like the Pokemon Go page (official, run by Niantic) on Facebook so I get info from there too.
Rock type Pokémon event starting on Thursday! My husband and I were anticipating a fire/rock event, but this works!Wow, that's cool! I'm collecting Onix candy for Steelix and it's been slow going, so very glad to hear this! I've been thinking about my lackluster Rock badge lately, too, so what a funny coincidence that I can now hopefully get it to gold. We don't see many rock types here; Geodude is somewhat common in the city and today I randomly found a Shuckle, but otherwise there's not much in general. My sister just hatched her much-desired Aerodactyl (she was so excited! it was like the equivalent of Lapras to her), but I'm sure she'll be stoked if we do happen to find another in the wild (in our dreams!). The extra buddy candy and Pokestop items sounds great, too!
Still hoping for a fire event eventually.

Ninetales was one of my all-time favorites and it took so long to get her (not many Vulpixes here); I still keep her powered up to the max just because I love her. :)

Today I went on a BIG Pokemon walk around a popular touristy area, which has been super good to me in the past for these events (tons of Bulbasaur for the plant one!), and I found ONE Onix, and maybe five Kabutos. :/ There's some Geodudes, but we always have them! There have been a good amount of rock-type spawns here just in our neighborhood, and it's been fun seeing all of these different Pokemon, as rock types aren't the most common where we are. I now have my gold Rock badge! Are things going better for you?
I'm so sad, I was hoping for tons of Onix (I'm 20/50 candy to evolve him!), and maybe a first Aerodactyl sighting - but no! Maybe better luck next time for both of us!! :hug:

My favorite thing in this event is the 4x buddy speed! I'm thrilled to see that walking my Totodile only need 75 meters for candy.

So I've been able to evolve Omanyte, Slugma, and Kabuto thanks to this event. I'm 3 candies (so one Onix) away from Steelix, I'm at 44/50 candies so far from walking Scyther (got 4 of those candies yesterday evening), and I know it isn't a rock type, but I caught a Dragonite on my way to a job interview this morning! I've also seen like 5 Aerodactlys since this event started. Didn't need them, but I was still surprised.Whoa, a Dragonite! And 5 Aerodactyls is intense, ha ha. Very cool!

I'm also having fun with this event so far, however, I hope there's more to it - I haven't come across a single Aerodactyl, and I so wish to find one! I'm leaving after work on a different route today (not going home but to visit a friend), so I'm hoping to find some secrets to discover in a new neighborhood :rolleyes:I hope you find your Aerodactyl! Word on the street is that they're spawning in neighborhoods, but I'm not sure if that's accurate. It was true for me, though. I also find Omanyte, especially, really cute! Even before this event I had an Omanyte as the profile picture on my laptop's guest account XD There was an episode in the anime, I think, that made me first see them as really cute.
What I did catch so far is a bunch of Kabuto and Omanyte - and I'm freaking out about how cute they are! :3
The only Pokemon I haven't seen much during this event is Larvitar, but I'm sure they did that on purpose. Of course, it's the only thing I still need because I need to evolve Pupitar. I went through my dex and I'm almost done, outside of regionals, Typhlosion, Feraligatr, Elekid, Girafarig, Miltank Hitmonlee, and Porygon- which I'm still convinced I will never see/hatch.A Cyndaquil nest would be awesome. Yeah, I haven't seen any Larvitar during this event; I thought I might see some, since I actually have seen two in the wild prior to this event, but none so far. I'm wondering if they meant for them to spawn during the event at all, since they cut way back on the accidental increased spawns in the beginning (they're a rock type, so I do think they should spawn more).
My husband and I discovered a Cyndaquil nest a couple of towns over while we were walking in the park on Sunday. Caught 4 of them during the two hours were spent there. We'll probably go back down today after work.
For some reason I'm in Squirtle city today. I've hatched like 3 and caught a Blastoise in the wild.Squirtle and Chikorita seem to be the most common starters in western PA, I swear. I'm so tired of seeing them. :drunk: I thought for sure with seeing Squirtle almost all the time, that Totodile would be more common but nope! I also hatched a TON of Squirtle recently. Blastoise was the first fully evolved starter I got...last year. All these Squirtles are useless to me!
Well, the event ends today. What did you all think?It was a success in my book :bigups: A big plus for me was just seeing Pokémon I don't see often, and getting 4x buddy candy. I now have a Porygon2 (Porygon was my buddy). I know it's no good for battling (at least mine isn't) but I think it's pretty cute. It was fun catching Aerodactyl in the wild (only seen one in the wild before this) and finding a perfect Omanyte that I was able to evolve thanks to the event. I was happy to find enough Onix to evolve a Steelix, one of my main goals.

I now have slight post-event letdown, as now all the Pokémon I'm seeing are commons. My sister even commented on the unusual fact that there were three Rattatas in our house (there are usually some Natus or Spinaraks in the mix).
I caught enough of everything to get all their final evolutions. Except Larvitar.... Saw his shadow a couple times, but that's it.

Well, this summer will be fun. The Legendaries and PVP is coming for sure!
When winning an award for Pokémon Go, the global marketing lead (I think) said, in the five words they're allowed (the speeches have to be short like that), that "This summer will be legendary." So it's just a rumor, but I think the rumor's pretty well-founded. I just wonder which legendaries they'll release and how. How ridiculously hard might they be to catch, for instance, or will we just be able to get the legendary bird of our respective team (I hope they don't team-lock them like that), or will they even do all the legendaries this summer (since now there are 8-ish? not counting Mew and Celebi). I can also imagine gyms full of Zapdos, Moltres, Articuno, Mewtwo, which could get strange . . .Well, this summer will be fun. The Legendaries and PVP is coming for sure!Oh really? Developers recently confirmed that they would be releasing the legendaries this summer.
It would be cool if the legendaries are part of the 1 year anniversary event- which I'm hoping they'll make a big deal out of.That would be the perfect time for the legendaries!
Regarding the event next week, I wonder if we'll be getting Delibird? I know people are saying we may not get it until next Christmas, but that seems silly to me. Waiting that long to get a Pokemon that, let's be honest, isn't going to do much in gyms. Same with Smeargle. Unless they plan on completely revamping gyms sometime this year. Like... it's just strange to me that we haven't gotten those two. I did read that Niantic was probably having issues implementing their signature moves (Present and Sketch) into the game, so I guess that's a good excuse.Niantic is a mysterious company whose logic I don't always understand. :lol: Yeah; it seems like they should release those two sooner than Christmas, especially because one would hope Gen 3 would be out by then.

I didn't see Lapras at all during this event. I actually didnt see very many ice types, tbh. That would've been incredibly disappointing if I needed them.
I'm still a little upset that Cyndaquil and Chikorita were so plentiful during the respective events, but it was like Totodile didn't exist during the water event (at least around here). And we already never see Totodile around here anyway.
Also, it looks like the gyms are already looking different. Still under construction of course, but I'm excited about them revamping them!

I already got kicked out of the first gym I took over. I think I was in there for 5 or 6 hours? I got 5 coins. I'm in four other gyms right now, but they're stacked so I should be good for a while.When did the gyms start working, by the way? I got off of work at 6 (Eastern) and so many of them were filled up or claimed already! I battled a few and put 3 Pokemon in different gyms; only my Wobbuffet remains, lol. I actually saw people out playing today for once. They weren't on my team, evidently, as the gym right there changed from my team to theirs right then.
It also seems like the raids are open to players level 35 and up, according to a Facebook post from an hour ago.
T-T There are raid battles EVERYWHERE around me, but I'm not level 35.....

What do you make of this?I really don't know what to make of it; sometimes I think I know what Niantic has up its sleeve and then they throw a curveball I never expected. But you never know! I guess I'm keeping my expectations low so I'll be pleasantly surprised?

I really don't understand what they're thinking sometimes! At least the attendees definitely get Lugia, store credit, and a refund of at least their ticket. (It's still pretty sad, though, because I think the big event of the day was supposed to be battling Lugia, not just getting Lugia handed to you . . . )

Currently about 17 hours left for +3 candies for catches, 1/3 walking time on eggs (only on new ones started) and buddy candies, double xp and stardust. :)Yes! It's pretty sweet. I've been able to level up and I've been hatching Pokémon like crazy. Nothing more exciting than a Cyndaquil, but it's fun all the same and I covet the double stardust.
AND, go raiding for Lapras and Articuno! If one pops up close enough to you and ypu have the time to wait, I would head to it, people will show up. Last night, in my little town, 19 people met up and together we beat Articuno, and with using golden berries, right around *half* of us caught it. Much better than the 2% chance most sites are saying you have, and that was the first raid we had that many people at. :) only a few knew each other at all, but with 2 hours to beat it, thats plenty of timw for people to spot it and head over. :)
I did an Articuno raid with 8 other people on Sunday. We got very close to beating it. But timed out right before anyone could get the last hit in.
But I did manage to make it to level 30!

My husband and I actually managed to score tickets back when they were on sale, so we ended up going. It was.... pretty bad XD I think a lot of the problem was that they just never have dealt with THAT large of a crowd before. But I will say that the stories showing up on the internet are leaving out the good. From a software standpoint, the changes that Niantic were able to make so quickly was impressive, and once they widened the radius of the event to two miles away from the park in every direction it helped a LOT.
And yeah, the big major event WAS supposed to be everyone battling Lugia in the park. It was supposed to 'be a tough battle, but an easy catch', according to one of the staff members we spoke to. But we didn't miss out on that! They released the Lugia and Articuno raids all around that two mile radius of the city, and IT WAS EPIC! We were running from raid to raid, laughing and talking to other people doing the same thing (the raids started as a few at first and just kept spreading). Almost everyone we talked to said that THAT was what the event should have been, and that at that point everyone was having fun, getting to run around and raid, catch unown and heracross, and explore.
Over all we actually had a really good time and a nice little mini vacation, and would do it all over again.

Yeah, if you're in certain European cities or within a forty-mile radius of them, you can find Kangaskhans and Unowns (E, U, R, O, and P Unowns to spell "Europe") right now :). I forget when this event ends, but it's Niantic's apology for cancelling Europe's Safari Zone events that were supposed to happen in Unibail Rodamco malls. I'm in the UK, which is what confused me as I thought you could only get them from either eggs or if you where in Australia.

I caught a Suicune on Saturday and I'm very happy. It has good IVs and a fire-type Hidden Power (which is kind of random but I find it interesting!) My sister went raiding with me, and we joined up with other players from Discord; my sister didn't catch it, though, sadly. So we'll go raiding again when we can.
