Hi!
I wanted to say quickly and foremost that you guys are wonderful. I’ve only been a part of the Arena for such a short amount of time, but never has an online community welcomed me so warmly. Many times when you join a new forum it’s very difficult to establish yourself or make friends. People seem to follow into clicks and can be very harsh and worse even than associating with those in real life. I haven’t felt that here with you ponies. Everyone has been so warm and caring. I’ve had people constantly give me advice on pony care, suggest different things or places to get items, literally give me ponies, call me to cheer me up and even help me track down ponies I’ve wanted. Where else can you find people like that? A large group of people that are so overly loving unselfish people. My first thought would be that collectors would be greedy, always trying to snatch up expensive items for themselves. I’ve yet to meet a person on this forum that fits that description. I suppose some could make the argument (and have) that army collecting is greedy, but even those with armies are some of the ones that have sent me pm’s helping me or nudging me to find ponies. Ones they collect as well. In general I just wanted to say I feel very lucky to have found you guys, and I love you.  I feel like those I have met embody the ideas of love and friendship that our favorite 80s characters repeated so often.

I wanted to do something to show my appreciation of the kindness I’ve met here on the boards.  On any other forum I would have sent something to one or two people that showed me the upmost kindness that I appreciated; however, there is one problem with this idea for me. I’ve really yet to have one person be mean to me or not be helpful in some way. I want to do something that everyone has a chance, and to express my appreciation. I’ve decided to have a small little round of Birthday games of sorts for my big day in August. The winners will receive a special box from me (free of charge to you of course, you’re allowed to offer to pay for shipping but not obligated in any way to do so) with surprise pony items. It’s just sort of a surprise birthday present, except going the opposite direction, as I will give it to you.

Rules
1)   Only one winner obviously, but I will have prizes for other places.
2)   I’d like to follow trade/sell rules and say that anyone to receive a prize must be 16 years + . I know that’s a bit of a bummer, but I’m sorry.
3)   Anyone can enter even outside of the U.S.
4)   You have to fill out the little questions I have since it will help determine what goes in your box if you win or place high enough.
5)   Please have fun and don’t get discouraged if you lose. I’m not an expert with judging pictures, but I will do my best.
6)   Post your picture submissions. You may submit two entries.

Dates
8/4/12- Officially open to submissions
8/8/12- My birthday! Hooray!
8/15/12- all competitions closed and judging begins
8/18/12- Winner announced
9/1/12- Packages shipping out

Note: I know this is a bit of time to ship, but I start teaching again on the 20th and my days will be really full. It will take me a few weeks to get into the swing of things, and I hate to say they will go out right after the contest then get busy and overloaded with work. I will notify each person when they ship though and get them out at least by the end of August or first week of September. Please realize that a lot of my little packages will be items I buy before the end. That way no one has to wait a long period for me to order something, the item to arrive and then ship it to you. That means most prizes will be G4 pony based, but I want to add extra things to your boxes or try to customize them in a way to fit the winners’ personality.

When you submit a picture it’s optional, but you may submit these questions answered or send them to me in a pm. That way when I pick the winners I can determine extras to include in the boxes. ^^

Perfect Pictures
The idea for this contest is pretty simple. I would like you to take a birthday picture with ponies. This could be ponies having a birthday party set up with a scene or maybe a picture of you celebrating with ponies. I’ll leave it up to your own interpretation, but try to have fun and keep it light hearted. I think something with humor and brightness is important for a pony birthday. Hooray!

Hooray ponies! :cheer: I know it will just make me give a little squeal of joy to see some awesome pictures.
I'm also happy that people are going to participate...I was a teensy bit worried people wouldn't.

Thanks for the birthday wishes, and I'm glad to have a nice home at the arena with all of you.  I think since I've brought it up my ponies are going to have to participate in a little birthday photo. Now I just need some cake for them. :lol:

I'm going to take my picture a little later, but for now, I'll fill out your handy-dandy survey! ^_^ I'm going to give a lot of options, so it's not outrageously specific, but more ... pick whatever you want, from a list of several options? XD I hope that makes sense! If you would prefer more 'strict' specifics, I can do that instead. :3

1.   Which generation 4 pony is your favorite? Ooh! I like a lot of them, I reeeally like the color combos of Rainbow Dash/Rainbow Flash (RAINBOW HAIR!), Honeybuzz is becoming a rapid favorite along with Dewdrop Dazzle and Blossomforth, but I also adore Twilight Sparkle and Rarity's characters and toys! :) I hope that is vague enough, haha! Really, I love them all.
2.   Do you simply collect or like to customize or rehair? All of the above! I love collecting most of all, but I also love to restore baity ponies to their former glory, or come up with new designs entirely! ^_^
3.   What is your favorite color? Purple!
4.   Briefly list a few things that you like? OWLS! Ponies? I like unicorns too, obviously, and music! (Especially opera, haha!)
5.   What type of candy do you like? ALL? LOL! I'm not too picky. I'm not too fond of sour things, or most gummies, but I DO love Swedish Fish! Otherwise, I especially love white chocolate (esp. Hugs!) and caramel. :3
6.   What little extra things would make for a fun package? Ummm! I love plush things, I love little bits and bobs I can use in crafts (like glitter! Or stick-on gems! or anything sparkly XD), I love fakies, I love ribbon! Honestly, I could receive a box of glitter and be happy. :lmao:

After seeing the adorable pictures of your dogs in their seasonal outfits I'm sure your pony pictures will be fantastic. :drunk:  Drunk pony shows her excitement and approval

Sourdough: Thank you very much. :hug:  I had some other stuff at first to go along with it, but then I thought keeping it simple would be the best option and far more fun. Everyone likes pictures! :cheer:

Sugar Lightening : I would love it if you participated that would be great. I suppose you have a good point, but then a person can always be like my wife and say "I'm turning 21 again this year!" (she will be thirty).  :P

I'm envious of your lovely boy collection! I only have is his name Whirly? From when I was a kid , and I insisted he was a girl being pink.  They look like their having a fun party, but uh oh who will get the last piece of cake?

See I'm asking everyone what types of cameras they have. I want to get my other half a camera for Christmas because she's really wonderful with taking pictures. We just have little umm oh the cheaper digital ones.

Sugar Lightening:   I think that's a great way of looking at it. Haha, it reminds me of something that happened with my mother except kinda backwards. My mother had kids a bit later in life, so she was always the older mother when we were in school. I remember my sister being in like second grade, and they had a day of meeting parents or something. My sister told all of them her mother was "the old one".  :lol:  Poor mom.

Michelle:  You know this makes us birthday buddies! :birthday:   Any big plans for yours dear? Oh Michelle I have a feeling there will be adorable winger goodness!  Which reminds me. I think with my birthday coming up I should finally take some pictures of my girls. :P

Hehe  The birthday thingies are from a little Build-A-Bear outfit my mom found at a garage sale.  The BAB clothing is a little wide for CPK but fit fairly well.  BUt all the shorts have a hole in the back for the tail.  >P

They even have underwear, female and male, which is hilarious and awesome.

Landon is the redhead, and the girl in the surfer outfit (that I made myself with CPK decals) is Michaela.  But don't call her that.  She goes by Mick.  XD

I rehair because I am trying to restore, so any restoration stuff is cool.

Owls, stars, books, tea, writing letters.

Not really candy but I do like Altoids.

What a fun contest and a generous thing for you to do. I absolutely agree with everything you said about how awesome the arena is. I have never felt anything but encouraged and supported here and everyone is so friendly. Tonight is for plotting and tomorrow I will take pictures!

       I'm more of a G1  fan, but of the main 6 G4s, I like Applejack the best. I love Pokey Pierce's design, as well as

       Collect. I will clean a pony up, try to defrizz it, and whiten it, but I don't customize or rehair. I'd love to, but I

I think it turned out well because I honestly thought it was one of those little cakes you can buy from the store. I didn't realize that it was Oreos at all. True they might be tasty, but I really shouldn't be eating any cupcakes. :biggrin:

Thank you :blush: Yep, I made them all :) I realized I don't have any accessories, but I do have a lot of card stock and construction paper! :lol: And the food is actually little erasers that I just found at Target about a week ago :D Aren't they the cutest? There's a fast food one with burgers, hotdogs, fries, and sanwhiches, and one with different cakes :) They're only $2 a bag and they're in the birthday supply aisle at Target :frolic: They too cute! Pefect pony food! I'm glad you like the photos, it was a really fun contest :hug:

Wow Shen, that's just so amazing that you did all that and made a wonderful little setting for the ponies to party. It's absolutely adorable! It also really makes me go "what stuff could I make?" because earlier I was going "I have no cute little setting for my ponies". You made so many really neat things though from what you had. I need to make a picture space for my ponies, but probably when I finally get a good camera to use with them. The erasers are perfect pony size, and I'm going to be hunting these down Friday when I visit Target. Last year I gave away skateboard erasers to my students that were about pony size. They even had working eraser wheels. ^.^

I couldn't shake the Mad Hatter in your screen name, so I ran with it, and we did you an Alice in Wonderland unbirthday party (since I couldn't organize myself properly to do this *on* your birthday... :blush:).  Shady is playing the part of the Mad Hatter (since in the book he's a fairly "shady" character), while Silly Sunshine is the March Hare (silly as he is?).  Pinkie Pie's never one to miss a party, and since she's so small, she's cast as the Dormouse.  And Rosedust is Alice, 'cause I couldn't think of a party pic without a Flutter Pony in it for you. ^.^  My DS supplied all the Playmobil bits and bobs and the mini playing cards for background and accessories.

Hope your birthday was a happy one, and that all 365 of your unbirthdays are just as happy! :lol:

Sugar I love the fact you added so many elements of things I liked and took the effort to make such cool props! Hehe, I actually have an Alice in Wonderland office room in my house, so that picture is sooo cool.

i had a lot of fun making it, and yes thats the katrina outfit haha i had tried numerous times to make it myself then discovered they actually had a ponywear set that was pretty darn close and went on an ebay frenzy. =P just need to get a small rainbow locket for her and a different crown :lovey:

First guys I wanted to tell you how much I absolutely loved your pictures! They were so well thought out, and I was touched by the amount of people that attempted to include elements I enjoyed. The amount of effort you guys put forth seriously blew me away. My only regret is that I could not award everyone. There was not a single picture that didn't make me smile. I've even added them to a little section of my photobucket with your sns on them because they are adorably cute. I want to be able to look at them later during the year when I feel old for being 26.  :P

I did not have a set critera for these photos, and I did not judge them by "who had the best quality photo" as in a great camera perspective or even who had the most items. 1) Shenanigans!
I absolutely loved the setting you created for your ponies. They had a very active little party world and such a sweet variety of things to eat. Pin the tail on the pony stuck in my head long after looking at your picture, and I loved that Mimic was roaming in there somewhere. I don't believe I commented on your thread before (was shy about it at the time), but I thought it was so sweet about Mimic showing up in your heard on your birthday. Your picture gave me warm fuzzies and reminded me of preparing birthday parties for my sister when she was younger. Poor kids at ours though would walk too far and into the wall before pinning the tail on the donkey. :P

2) Sugar.Lightning

Wow, simply wow! Your picture brought so many things I enjoy together. I really do love Alice in Wonderland (have tattoos all over me of it and my office room is Alice in Wonderland decorated).  I adored the Alice decorations from Shady's hat, to the cards and even the unbirthday. It was very adorable, and I liked how you decided which pony played a part in the picture. Adding a flutter pony was simply a plus!

3) Eluluu

Sliding in at the last minute and you still manage to place. How evil is that?  :P

I loved Baby moondancer in her little outfit and the background set up of your ponies. The hats were adorable and put the poor ones I made for my ponies to shame! The biggest thing of course was the pinata, mostly because I could imagine hanging my little wingers by the fan now and smacking them with sticks. I wonder if candy will fall out?



I only intended to pick three people total for prizes, but so many people had adorable pictures I had to pick one more. I will also be sending a smaller mini prize toooo.......

I'm not the biggest G4 fan, but your cute outside picture and fun train ride made it apparent that G4 ponies can be tons of fun.

Small update.

Thanks to everyone for getting back to me so quickly. I've picked up boxes for your items, and I'm packing them up. I intend to use labor day weekend as an opportunity to shop for some of your extras. Then I should be sending these babies out that first week of September.
