Title: Oh, I've been through the desert on a horse with no name.

I saw this poll elsewhere online (GameFAQs) and decided to use it here, but added a few more fun options. Maybe the extra poll options were prompted by this very cute plushie thing I found in the grocery store this morning, of all places. Had to buy it, too! (I'll show it off at the bottom of this post as a bit of a brag.)
:bobcat: :tumble:

In my case, a vote for 8 is also a vote for 9, since that would be the same place. And no, you don't have to vote for going to the desert if you don't want to go. That's just there for my amusement. :D So where do you think you'd like to go?

My phone didn't catch the colors very well. It was desaturated. I tried applying a filter that makes it a bit more accurate, but it's still not quite there. The fact that it was a cactus was enough to catch my attention, but the yellow flowers was what completely sold me on it.

(Okay, Stomper, just submit this post already before you ramble about other things. Geez.)

I voted for a beach resort cause it sounds like the perfect escape from reality for a time. But in reality I would love to travel around the country.

I always feel at home at an amusement park. They're what I dream about most frequently, and there's really no amusement parks where I live after Astrowold closed  :(

Honestly, I've had so much school related things that staying home and getting to do the things I want to do but haven't had time for would be the best! Haven't been able to do much like play Pokemon Sun that I got like a month ago and have wanted to play since the day it came out and draw and make pony related items. Spring break is coming up, so I will get this vacation! Of course I'll still have a little homework.

I was gonna go with a theme park because I love those to death, but I've never been on an adventure-ish vacation before...so I went with that because I've been to Disneyworld 5 times and it's less of a "dream vacation" at this point and more of a "favorite vacation". I also get bored at beach vacations because I rarely just do nothing, so I figure it'll keep me plenty busy.

Honestly, my dream vacations are between two concepts - trips to historical sites of interest to me (Western Europe, Greece, etc.) or places I'd just love to see - a Northern country like Greenland, Northern Canada, or Scandinavian countries. Like, I'd love to see a tundra, they look so beautiful!

I hate the heat, humidity, sun, and bugs, so wherever I want to go, it needs to be at a time when it is nice and cool!

Staying home!  Since an eco-resort where I can do hands on biology or wildlife rehab wasn't listed...

I picked a foreign country...someplace in Asia. I want to go back to China. I was there over a year and there is so much more to explore. I would love to visit Hainan Province. Hainan is an island province of China and the nation’s southernmost point. It's known for its tropical climate, beach resorts and forested, mountainous interior. The southern city of Sanya has many beaches that range from 22km-long Sanya Bay to crescent Yalong Bay and its luxury hotels.

I chose other. My parents have a lake house that my family has a get together at every summer that I love. It's got fishing, bonfires, water sports, sunbathing, hiking, you can camp OR sleep in a luxurious log cabin. It's a lot of fun (except for the mosquitoes, which I swear are the size of birds).

A foreign country with another culture would be nice, but I want to do several so I choose Going on a cruise ship to visit various places of interest, as I hope there will be guided tours to different historical places at every stop!

Fun fact, an ex-friend of my boyfriend and his girlfriend were on a cruise in the mediterranien to celebrate some relatives birthday. The ship landed in various places in Spain, France, Greece, Italy etc.. but these two people never left the ship. This baffles me still.. I would be first in line to get off to discover!

Foreign country. Although with my navigation that mostly means a city or place with good transport links. I have been to a lot of different countries in Europe, but my only trip further afield was the 3 months in Japan last Spring. I want to go back to Japan very much, but I'd also like to visit Taiwan (I have some uni friends who are now back there) and Korea. I'd also like to visit Canada one day, because my Grandad was stationed there in the RAF during the war and loved it so much he wanted to emigrate (but my Nan wouldn't leave London. If she had, I might have grown up Canadian O.O)

I would also like to visit Switzerland. Some books I read as a kid were set in Austria and Switzerland. I've been to some of the Austrian places but not yet Switzerland.

I'd like to visit Norway and also Iceland. Especially Norway. I have been to Denmark and briefly to Malmo in Sweden but I'd like to see more of Sweden. I really like Scandinavia. It makes a lot of sense to me - maybe it's my viking ancestry :) I also loved Finland very much. So pretty. :)

I'd like to visit Budapest because it's meant to be beautiful. It was a choice the other year between Budapest and Vienna but I chose Vienna because I could also go to Bratislava in Slovakia from there quite easily and I wanted to do that too.

And finally I'd like to visit Lithuania, because we had exchange students from there when I was a kid at school. This was very soon after the collapse of the Eastern Bloc and I think we were one of the earliest exchanges but I wasn't able to go to Lithuania then :( We had  two Lithuanians stay with us and their culture was so interesting.

I love the idea of visiting other places. Those are just some of my hopes, but there are probably more that I forgot.

Not on my list of places to visit are places that are very hot and dry or hot and humid. I would LIKE to visit Cambodia (I sponsor a kid there) and Malaysia and Singapore but I am not sure I could cope with the climate. And I am definitely not wanting to go to the desert ;) Sorry SDS :) I don't do well in hot climates.

Definitely a theme park. I'm not much for going hiking ad stuff like that. I don't like planes or boats, so traveling to another country is out of the question.

I'd say the big city. All the different stuff there is to do and see is fascinating since I've only been to a city a few times in my life.
(I just wish they were safer)

Hmmm, that's a tough question. I have phases of being fascinated by different environments; given the option, I'd want to see a bit of everything! On a more realistic scale, I'd like to visit Scotland sometime; it'd be really nice to see the scenery and wildlife there. :)

All I want to do is rent a mountain cabin and be away from technology, noise and the business of life.  I like wildlife, trees and the clean smell of the unpolluted outdoors.  Oh and it would be nice if I had a lake view as well.

I'm always excited to see new places, and having a husband from the UK helps in that respect. Besides England, I've been to Ireland, Wales, Denmark, France, and Belgium, but I want to see so much more. Germany and Austria are up there, as is Scotland. Iceland would be great too. Oh, Norway would be great... AHHH. <3 I love traveling.

I picked "My home, sitting around and just doing nothing". I'm suffering from a severe burn-out at the moment, and I'm longing for this so much...

Other than that, I love vacations that involve lots of beautiful nature (watching birds! :bird: ), but I'm also a big sucker for souvenir shops. :P

Oooh I am totally with you on this!!! :hifive:  yes please!!!! now . right now -would be good! :frolic:  :squee:  :lovey:   this is my idea of perfect as well!! but with a few slight adjustments....
I chose a foreign country in the poll. That's because I live in the UK, but my heart home is Italy   :inlove: -and my health is a million times better there.  So my little cabin in the middle of nowhere by mountains and lakes would be there, not the UK  :P

I've done a lot of travelling and I love to explore new places  - I'd love to go visit my best friend in the US someday .... there are lots of places I still havent been that I'd love to see ... but Italy is where I always want to end up. If I had to pick only one place I could ever travel to again then I'd pick Italy and I'd still be happy (though TBH when we go to Italy we drive in our motorhome so we stay off in France and Switzerland too ;)  )
Italy is  hot! it can get verrrry hot, which I love  :frolic: .  But there are also places where it gets cool/cold/snowy and there are mountains and Ski resorts, Lakes and completely rural wild areas, then the opposite as well- sunny  beaches.... Also loads of historical places and the cities are full of interesting things ... so it could fall into a lot of the categories here . It has everything. I love it all  :lovey: :inlove:

Although I sure wouldn't mind a trip to a desert right now SDS  :sunny:   ;)  I'm sooo fed up of freezing here in the UK! stupid snow, stupid rain, stupid mud. I think I've forgot how it feels not to wear 10 layers of clothes or stop aching! :yikes:

Will you hate me if I tell you London is sunny and I almost discarded my coat today because it was so warm??

Italy is pretty <3 People are also friendly. I need to visit the North, though. I've only been to Rome and then down to Pompeii.

Other. Any place with lots of history. Big city or small village doesn't matter, as long as there's old buildings. I loved Rome for that reason.

Somewhere with lots of beautiful nature works too. I'd like to go to Scotland some day to see the highlands.

An adventure, duh! In Norway, you're allowed to put up a tent pretty much anywhere as long as it isn't right next to houses, but I've never used this right for all it's worth. Just going out the door with a tent, a GPS and, no plan does sound pretty great, though.

all of the above :P
it was hard picking one so i picked a cruise, its the only thing on the list i haven't done and iv always wanted to do even as a child was to do a cruise to some tropical island paradise or foreign country.
other pick would be foreign country.
im always doing bush walks/hiking and exploring nature or walking down to the beach so something different like visiting a big city (say New York or Paris cos i haven't been there yet) would be a next pick also. :D

I went for "a big city", since there was no option for "a big city in a foreign country". Living in London, I get plenty of big city culture, and I love it, but it's so much fun to experience it in a different country. My partner and I are off to Brussels soon. What a treat!

I voted for the foreign country option, but it really is a foreign continent. I have visited several foreign countries in my life already, but I have never been outside Europe yet - and I long to! I do not have one specific dream destination, there are several places I'd love to visit, like Australia, Hawaii, the American continent - but all of these would cost considerably more (partially because they take longer to reach and thus once I'm finally there I wouldn't like to spend only a few days there, rather weeks - especially in the US and Australia, because I wouldn't only like to visit one city or a few. The things I want to see are like... thousands of kilometres apart), so we never made up our minds about them yet. It would be a little easier if the hubby wasn't so much of a Europe-fan, he loves to travel, but is not really interested in going outside the continent, as his main travel interests are more fulfilled by countries around here.

I can´t choose between sun/relaxation, City Life and unique Culture. I love to explore big citys and new Cultures as much as sun and relaxation so a mix is the best.

A Dream come true would be going some Place exotic and explore nature maybe Safari in Kenya or Malaysia national park.

although it is actually sunny and quite warm today.. which is like... a miracle! :wow:  cos it's never sunny here on a weekend especially *faints again* :faint:

Rome, Pompeii, the south of Italy - it's all amazing :lovey: , but you totally should visit the North of Italy too! It's lovely! it's very diverse .Some say the people aren't quite as friendly as in the South but I haven't found that to be true- they're just as outgoing, friendly and generous  :)  Try the Italian Lakes

Right ..I'm off to enjoy what bit of warmth and sun we have ATM now outside here before it vanishes!!

What if we choose a place that combines several of those options together? Going to Japan would cover the first 5 on the list. There are plenty of natural places, it's an island so there's beaches, there are several big cities, a unique culture, and theme parks like Sanrio Puroland and Tokyo Disney.

I choose nature adventure. I'd love to go to the beach, but never a resort. Every time I see those "beautiful" resort pictures, all I see is a dead beach with no living nature. Clean sand and water where nothing but filthy humans survive.

Voted a while ago, but another country for sure. I've been to Canada (Québec!), but that's really it. My wanderlust is nearly unbearable. I'd go to Sweden or Finland before anywhere else if I could, and probably never leave. I want to see the great forests, the northern lights, the lakes, the meadows. I want to be in a sauna by a lake in winter, celebrate Midsummer, visit the Arctic Circle, take a trip on a train just so I can stare out of the window and marvel at what passes by (and I've never been on a train), see historic sites, shop, the list can go on. And I want to speak in different languages, even if only a little. Québec was for a school French trip, but I spoke maybe three sentences in French because everyone kept switching to English (and too many of the other kids on the trip - which was for the language - didn't want to speak French, so they didn't even try  :pout: ). I don't know what it is, but Sweden and Finland have always been fascinating to me, and I think the world can learn a lot from the Nordic countries in general. They're beautiful to me, and I want to see them in person and do everything!

And have lots of cinnamon buns and coffee. :iconclap:

I picked a theme park, only because I'm itching to go back to Disneyland. Otherwise it would be a beach resort, because those are so nice and relaxing or a foreign country because there are so many places I would like to see and I love history and other cultures.

Road trip! I've always wanted to see the world but my wallet has always firmly disagreed. I'd love to go out of the way places most tourists would avoid. Pass on the major tour group route things, that said I did take a cruise once. Five days tripping around Mexico and back to southern Cali. The mass/huge group setting was so not my thing. But it was nice to not have to worry about food (all the food) or a room, it was already taken care of. Plus it was always in easy reach if you went ashore. :ohyeah:

Plus you didn't have to worry about getting to the next stop, someone else was behind the wheel.

I chose theme park, specifically Disney World.  I've been there once before, but it was a long time ago, and my memories are vague.  And the Animal Kingdom park (sub-park?) didn't exist at that time, sadly. I want to go back so I can experience that park specifically, but also the rest of them.
