As I've been getting more into older gen ponies, I've noticed something. There are a few G3 ponies that I've been calling "strawberries and a thing" ponies. Strawberry Reef, Pepperberry...how did they come to be??
"A pepper shaker is too...plain."
"What, should I add some salt too? Coriander maybe? Parsley?"
"Nah, nah. What about a strawberry?"
"Oh, perfect!"

Maybe they noticed a higher rate of sales of "strawberry" ponies? I like strawberry stuff... and pink stuff...

I guess pepper on strawberries is something people actually eat and really like. Perhaps the person who designed Pepperberry's CM/symbol liked it? I think it's interesting. Very unique. :frog:

It would seem that it's G3's version of G4's trend of adding 'Dazzle' to every stinking pony.

So what is the story with Waterfire?
I think I know. There is an event several times in the summer and fall in Rhode Island (where Hasbro is located) where they light little bonfires in little floating metal baskets on the river that goes through the city. This event is called Waterfire.
On the Pepperberry thing. Pepperberry is another word for peppercorn.

Lol, I did notice that there are lots of strawberries in G3! I only have a relatively small G3 collection, but have 4 different ponies with Strawberries...Strawberry Reef, Rainbowberry, Bumbleberry and Sweetberry

Strawberry reef always gets me!
I love pepper berry I think she's super unique! I have to admit after hearing people say it was good I tried it. Can't say I loved it though...;)

I've heard that it's popular in parts of Europe, but no clue if that's true or not.

Holly Dash is the OC of Holly Gierbrecht, one of the animators.
It's pretty cool her OC got turned into a toy. I love the design of her "character".

Eh...its really no worse than the sheer over use of the word Rainbow. :P And even with all the strawberries I think I still find the imagination shown in early G3 better than in any of G4. Maybe they just found the strawberries the friendliest and prettiest fruit? :P

Maybe they have seen how popular Sugarberry has been over the years, and has made similar styles to satisfy the consumers. I must admit myself that I have become susceptible to anything strawberry-themed, especially if there are ponies involved! :)

No its always Strawberry and some other combination and they do all at least have a strawberry somewhere in their symbol. :)

I mean if you have the capability of making something and can do it to perfection then do just that

Actually- I remember getting overwhelmed with my G3 choices and specifically limiting myself to ONLY ponies with Strawberries and/or Rainbows on them at some point- luckily that included so many!
LOVE strawberries- and rainbows... (In fact my other collections are Strawberry Shortcake and Rainbow Brite, lol)
Oh- and Sweetberry has always been one of my all time favorites. I wish we had a G4 version!
