Title: Some pet art. Updated.
Post by: Hannah66665 on August 22, 2021, 07:38:38 AM
Long time no post. Real life has been... a lot. My drive to make art comes and goes. Lately though, I've been painting experimental digital cat portraits and I thought I'd share.  ^.^

Oldest to newest -

Baxter for one of my sisters.

Penny for a friend.

Irisa, one of our family cats.

New - two portraits commissioned by my aunt.  The references were old photographs so it was interesting trying to capture their likenesses from them.

Wicket.

Kody. First time trying to paint a dog like this.

For anyone interested, I am open for commissions like these for $25 per portrait. Inbox is always open for inquiries.

Wonderful! I love that they are not overly polished, yet the eyes are so lifelike and full of personality. :lovey:

I've updated the first post with my newest pieces.  ^.^ Thank you for the lovely comments everyone!

Griffin - the eyes are definitely the part I refine the most! Once I get the rough concept down I paint them first then fill in the portrait around them.

Figured it'd be okay to share the photos I referenced here.

Spoiler
Baxter - I don't have the photos I referenced of him on this laptop, but I do have a picture of him I snagged from my sister's facebook. I painted him as a gift to her after he passed away.

Penny. This is the cat of a client who's come to me for repeat artworks of their characters and cats. I've fallen in love with their cats after drawing them many times and so I decided to paint Penny for her based on this gorgeous photo of her.

Irisa. One of our family cats.

Wicket. My aunts cat. This photo is roughly 30 years old from my understanding. My aunt had to find some tortie cat photos on google to help show me the correct colors and fur style.

Kody for my aunt. Based off another old photograph.

Thanks.  :lovey:
My current project is a Shih Tzu for one of my other aunts. It's such a wildly different dog than the samoyed Kody, so getting the fur right is going to be trial and error haha.

You're tortie looks so great!  I always hate trying to color tortie pictures myself because I can never make it look good.

Thank you both!  I'm glad people think the tortie turned out good, I feel like I struggled a lot to get the coloring right. Plus it was such an old and kinda blurry photo for reference. My aunt ended up sending me pictures of torties on google as examples for the right colors and fur length. There were quite a few revisions on it but she was thrilled with the result.
