Brightberry, that girl with the face mask is the only new release I was relly into and then I saw her price and did a double-take. Huge congrats on getting her! :)
I used to have five Pullips: Meg, Bloody Red, Naoko, Peter Pan and a Mocca MiO. I recently gave Meg away because I realised I needed to cut down a bit but she sure was one sweet little dolly.
Problem with Pullip these days is that they have become such an expensive brand. Don't get me wrong, they were never cheap, but I am under the impression prices keep getting higher.
Rant ahead where I am not being nice about Pullip, so please ignore if you are still a big fan:
Spoiler
Thinking back, I got my Bloody Red and my Meg both complete for 80€ pre-owned in box. I thought they'd be my most expensive dolls ever. Then came Naoko that I reveived as a get-well gift from my family and was 120€ x__x
I simply can't justify this hobby anymore. If I had to take all my pets to the vet at once it would be cheaper. That's the epiphany I had a while ago.
I also hate how they seemingly stopped with the MiO kits. Probably because they were selling like hot cakes and people would rather make their own than buy an overpriced lolita pile of cloth with a stained doll underneath so sewn into her dress that taking it off at least once would ruin it all. Yes, I am bitter. I am glad Isnagged a Mocca one before everything vanished.
Pullip is kinda like Integrity to me. Only the rich can afford keeping up with them and that's why the line got taylored to suit this elite circle of collectors wants and needs. I miss when Pullip had chracters like the lesbian mechanic with dreads, the love detective or the goth mermaid in a top hat. Now it's pastels and cake dresses out the wazoo and brand collab after brand collab. Not my speed. But I know people are still loving it, so I'll just step back in silence and let them enjoy all those powderpuff characters and Sanrio gijinkas while I am concentrating again on making my own characters with their own styles.
I was just looking at Pullipstyle the other day. I would still love to get Akemi, but I just can't justify the price of Pullips anymore. The quality just isn't there. Its a shame because Pullips were my favorite dolls for so many years.

I agree that they just are not very good quality! The leg pegs break, the shoes break and the eyes always break!
When I got my only Taeyang in 2009, his foot was broken out of the box. At this point I may just try selling him if I can figure out where to do it; eBay prices are ridiculous and all of the old Pullip forums I used to frequent seem to be gone.
I would love to rebody my Ala but last time I tried there weren't any bodies that match her skintone. Its a beautiful color but makes me so paranoid about damaging her fragile body.
