I hope this doesn't seem nitpicky, but does "several" wishlist items mean more than 3?
y collections aren't of a particular toy or merchandise (except for a couple of LPS I'd like to have). I collect vintage perfume bottles, elephants, fairies, things like that. So for example, I wouldn't be asking for a certain Care Bear or Sailor Moon doll, but instead giving examples of the kind of bottles I collect. Could I still join?

It didn't occure to me that someone would be after a specific item *face palm* You can be as specific as you need to be but there needs to be enough of a selection for your partner to choose from. I know some people collect some very obscure and hard to find items which is why I suggest having at least 3 "catagories" of items on the list.

Reading about everyone's collections is so interesting! At my house we recently cleaned out two garages FULL of junk and I have a bunch of random old stuff that was going to go to Goodwill.. but I see on the lists here that some people here actually collect this stuff! Once the swap is done and over with I might pm a few people and offer them to take my stuff off my hands. ;)

Tribble, you and I would get along as kids. I used to walk several miles just to go buy some wiggly fishing lures which I've always thought were beautiful. I still go to look at them in stores and occasionally buy them. I have a set of flys that are so amazingly realistic and perfect.
It is so cool to find another girl who liked them as a kid. Lol, I wouldn't mind them as extras either. Just not the ones that covered in " tasty smelly stuff" for baiting the fish.

Yes they do! You can't put much in them except maybe a little bead to make them "jingle", but I like them nevertheless. The clear bell was from my grandma who also collected bells, and the two larger colored glass bells my husband gave me for Christmas one year. The blue bell is a hand painted gift from an aunt we were given on our wedding.

The 'don't edit your wish list' is only for changes made to the wish list itself, not if you're editing in questions someone asked, like "Would you like a custom?" There's nothing wrong with editing your wish list post to answer questions like that. It wouldn't be confusing to our partners since it doesn't change our wish list at all.
I will be editing my wish list post throughout this event with answers to my questions, so my partner doesn't have to search 20+ pages for my answers each time someone asks a new question or two.

well pokemon is lillipup and the eevees. (look like puppies and foxes)
usually i'm always a fan of the lead character. what ever the series i always end up loving the lead. merlin-merlin and well arthur. psych=shawn etc.
We have postcards & keychains, although a lot of it's sports themed. I'm sure I could find shot glasses also. Our main regional food is Cincinnati Chili, which is definitely an acquired taste (and hard to ship, lol). Or Goetta.

I live with my boyfriend and two guinea pigs. I had a brain tumor about a year ago that i had to operate. But i feel so much better now!
I love animals, have always done it. My favorites are guinea pigs, squirrels, giraffes, bumblebees, rhinos and stingrays =)

Several people have dolls on their lists, may I ask how people feel about custom clothing or wigs?
Also may I ask if anyone has any allergies I should be aware of. I am allergic to mold and smoke. Hopefully items won't encounter either of those but I also have two dogs so I wanted to make sure if a few stray hairs got in I wasn't going to kill my partner.

i usually go for what i paid for the item.
i work retail (for one of my jobs) and i get a really nice discount. so when i buy i use the price i paid.
that way i can get more in the box.
if it's something i have at home, that i'm willing to give,usually count it as nothing. but if it's really valuable i may count it for 2$ or whatnot. not what i was gonna sell it for.

grumble... just found out, one of the things i want to buy is 80% of the budget...I have found if I do some digging around on the internet I can always find a item cheaper elsewhere depending on what it is. So you can possibly dig around and look for that item for less somewhere else online. Or even look for a similar item, maybe there's a smaller version or another company makes it also. I wish you luck.

I have to raise my hand on this one too! I don't like realistic looking bugs at all. I do like some of the cuter LPS bugs, but that's as far as it goes. So Partner if you are worried about sending me something from your region, please don't let it be buggy or crawly. :)
Also Partner, here is another question- My area is known for their Salt Water Taffy and we have a Candy store here, they make fudge and chocolates. I know the taffy is a thing people associate with our area, so that being said, do you want some salt water taffy or would you like some other sort of candy or something from my area like a post card, t-shirt or knick knack? I'm sorry you guys have such grumpy postal deliverers. My USPS delivery man is very nice and sometimes stops to talk to me if I am out front.
The UPS delivery man on the other hand...he just leaves the package and runs. Sometimes I think maybe he is just scared of dogs and doesn't wanna stick around when my dogs are barking lol.

I once got a package from UPS, the doorbell rang and by the time I answered it the person was gone. They had just left the box on my doorstep and ran off. Crazy thing is, they left it at our technically "front door", which we never use, and which is on the side of the house. If I hadn't been home I wouldn't have even known that parcel was sitting there. Who knows how long it could have sat outside! I'm always paranoid now...

The cashier was nice enough to let me have him for less, and gave me the broken off piece. Alot of things I have collected seem to have something wrong with them, even if minor. So don't sweat it if I am your partner. :)

I'd have to agree with Daiy, a glass owl or dragon would be cool. I used to have a blown glass wishing well, it had a teeny little bucket. It was a really cute thing to display. I don't know what happened to it though, I think I gave it to a neighbor who was a older woman and she collected blown glass.

I've been meaning to tell you how much I love those Little Pretties. I had a few of them as a kid. The white cat and a purple cat. I also had a little yellow cat with curly hair that came in a perfume bottle. I loved the perfume ones best because they were so small.
I can't seem to find the purple one I had on the Ghost of the Shell list. Hmm. She was in a laying position and was a light lavender with dusty lavender hair. She had a symbol on her so she wasn't a CurlyKitten. I wonder who she was.

I think a question was asked earlier in this thread as to whether or not you want snacks for your pets. Dixie likes to eat anything, but I won't feed her anything with meat by-products. My neighbour breeds pure-bread St.Bernards :) because we live next to a giant feild, they have lots of room to run around in too. And they are super obedient too... Just really big ^^;
Lol those aren't dogs.... They're bears haha. But st Bernard's are cute :). And usually so gentle and sweet.That they are :) Brandy, my neighbour's oldest is just a huge teddy bear. When i'm out on my deck chairs in the summertime, neighbour takes them all out for playtime in the feild. Brandy just walks up to my porch and lays near me in the shade with her head on my lap and gets some good pets and loves from me.

If I collected something general, then I would collect all that merchandise. Like plushies, mugs, keychains, stickers, handbags, etc. So like I have tails from sonic on my list. I love tails. It seems late to put a spending cap on this swap. People have already started spending money and several of us have gone over the minimum. I would be pretty upset if a cap was set up and I'm already over it. 'Cause then what? Do I have to withhold something?

You're right about it being to late for the cap. But I've seen problems in pony swaps a few years ago. Say the limit for a swap is $10. Some people put in only $10 worth of stuff, which is maybe one pony and a tiny bit of candy. Someone else might spend $35. I agree with Yuru and Karrie. When you join a swap, you should know that the budget minimum may be a certain amount, but a lot of people like to go over. If you receive a box that includes things that add up to the minimum, then that's what you signed up for and you should be thankful. If your partner decides to overspend, then great. No one is obligated to overspend and no one should feel bad if their partner didn't.
That being said, I don't think a maximum spending limit is a bad idea, but since this swap is already started and a lot of people.... Including myself have gone over, I think it's too late for that in this swap.
Well it's been my experience that you are welcome to overspend if you'd like, but you have to realize that your partner is not obligated to overspend for you also.
planning on backing up and assessing what i've collect so far, then diving back into the buying. want to get one thing from each collection, then add from there.

New England is experiencing a major snow storm right now. It's been snowing since yesterday morning and when I opened my front door this morning, the snow was up to my knees! There were 12 people in line when I went to pick up the parcel on Friday before work and I left after 10 minutes and no perceptible movement on the line. :( I don't go there to send my parcels anymore but I have to go there to pick them up. These ones are adorable. I would love the Meeko or Marie or Percy one xD. I tried to get them once...but since these are sold "blind boxed" I ended up with Pluto and Oliver, instead. They're still cute...but not the ones I wanted xD ahah.
Those are the first ones that I have really thought cute. I wouldn't mind some of Sleeping Beauty characters or Marie, Oliver, or Dinah from Alice in Wonderland. Not a huge fan of the random ones or ones that have nothing to do with my collections.

I started buying the day I got my partner. I found lots of great stuff right off the bat and I didn't let very many opportunities pass me by. I was hoping to add just a little more, but I was separated from my job after the holiday season, so I have had to accept that the buying is over for me. So I was able to switch my focus on extras where I'm spending the least amount of money.
I did the same but had to slow down the last week or two because school was kicking my butt. I just finished up the main parts today and will get some extras going this week.
Sorry to hear about your job! I am a full-time student in a crazy busy nursing program so I am not working at the moment, either. Luckily my tax return helped me spoil my partner! Definitely guilty of going over budget on this one :blush:

Honestly, I am not built for "jobs". I need to hurry up and get into my career. The redundancy of jobs gets me so bored so fast I tend to lose my focus and my performance dies off. Only jobs I'm good at are cashier jobs and fast food. That thrill of the unexpected is what made me so good at those jobs. I was working a warehouse job over the holiday, but a lot of factors started working against me pretty quickly. So they had to drop me, which sucks, but I'm dealing with it. Honestly, I don't think I'll get another, as I'm going to start getting my foot in the door for my career. I'm going to be studying Zoology so long as everything goes to plan, so I'll likely start volunteering full-time at the zoo or aquarium and hopefully I'll get an internship once I enter into the Zoology program.
Neat! :D. If I didn't choose to go to nursing school, I definitely would've went for something animal-related. My SO is going to vet school, so at least I get to hear all the stories and such :D. Plus I just keep a hoard of animals in my house...that helps too haha.

I knew I wanted to work with animals, but vet techs don't make squat and I knew I couldn't be a vet. I took a ton of tests to get matched up with different fields of study and zoology stood out to me. I am hopeful that I will be able to put myself into a position where I have the opportunity to make a real difference for animals. It's many years off still, but maybe someday I'll be a voice that people are willing to listen to. Maybe. ^_^

Okay I just piled up my two partner's items into boxes. It actually doesn't look like a whole lot because most of their items are teeny tiny even though I am over budget! Hmmm. Such small little things.

So... The package I was waiting for arrived while I was away, but our neighbour agreed to pick up our mail so all was well. Well, today she said she left the house for like, 10 minutes, and her dog got a hold of my package and chewed it up :( I'm not sure what to do now as it was something that my partner probably wanted MIP. The item itself is fine but the package is chewed and torn on the back. She felt really bad and apologized, I told her it was ok, as what can we do about it now, but now I'm not sure what to do. Thinking about how I'm going to wrap my goodies... I /had/ the idea to get some wrapping paper that pertained to one of my partner's collections, but I decided that would probably give away who my partner is! xD I thought that, since most of the items I got for my partner are round, it would be a cute idea to roll them up in a few layers of tissue paper, twist the ends, and secure them with ribbons. Like a little hard candy. :3 Anything that can't be wrapped like that, I'm going to wrap like a candy bar if the shape of the object permits!

Also found some alternative ways to wrap some items-a pretty floral box, a brightly striped cosmetic bag, and a patterned tiny gift bag.
I'm waiting on two things in the mail, and I need to go to the grocery for my random items, buy some wrapping paper, and then I will start wrapping.
I actually have wrapping paper already for one partner. I used it on another swap but they will like it too. It fits them perfectly. But I am not sure my second person would like it at all. I might need to get creative with their wrapping paper. The items are all tiny and I don't want to buy a whole roll since it will hardly get used. I think I might use tissue paper with stickers instead.

I think quite alot of us have being shocked at the size of the items arriving for our partners. But I think your partner will love it regardless.

Aargh! I'm having a heck of a time with this swap. xD Every time I get paid and think I'll be able to get the last few items I need, unexpected expenses keep popping up! This time it was a full tank of gas, my 6-month supply of contact lenses, and a hefty payment to the guy that does my family's taxes. Had it not been all at once, I would have been able to get those last few things. I still need to get said things and the armload of extras I have picked out and that should put me well over the $25 "limit" xP

Ugh, I have a test today, and I usually don't have to write tests as I'm studying design, and it's more just visual projects and presentations, so I don't even know how to study! Then class this evening and then working on a project I'm supposed to present concepts of tomorrow, and I'm still pretty close to square one!! :faint: I can't wait until school is over!!

I can only type with my left hand because of a kitchen accident involving a mandolin and my right hand while I was trying to make lunch yesterday. I would't care what kind of wrapping is used for me. I love cute things, even Christmas or any other kind of wrapping paper, and I like pretty much any colour. It might even be fun if my partner wanted to wrap in the colours and style that they like so that a little of them was in the gift (other than their awesome thoughtfulness for creating a great package to begin with).

They are really popular here in Canada (you can even get them at the dollar store.) but safe to say I was a little mad when I got home and my fiancee told me about the bannings of them.

Good point. I did get an item for my partner from a seller who didn't ship to outside of the US but made an exception because I asked nicely. I'm in the sticker swap and the shipping is crazy just for 1 sheet, like $8, but maybe if I ask they'll ship cheaper.

I'm rather irked by the seller I bought my last item from. It was a small thing, not expensive. They never sent me an invoice, and to be honest I forgot about it. Yesterday I get a notice saying they had filed an "unpaid item claim". Seriously? It was less than 5 days. They couldn't send an invoice or just a reminder? Seller claims it went out automatically, I think that's poor communication.

I was planning on making my partner some homemade goodies tomorrow and then shipping their box... And it will be going priority and according to the USPS website, should get there Saturday. But I'm worried about it not getting there by Saturday for some reason and then it having to sit in the sorting facility until Monday and the homemade stuff getting stale :/. Should I trust the website or just wait until next week?

We are supposed to be getting over a foot of snow over the next 2 days so looks like I wont be going to the PO anytime soon...
Yucky snow! We were supposed to get a dumping of rain today, but it didn't come to pass.
I'm crossing my fingers that the snow is over, but I am not really betting on it (yay for living in the mountains!).

Aww, such great support here at the arena. Actually, though, shipping to the US and sometimes to Europe can be cheaper than shipping the same parcel within Canada. Mostly because there is no non-tracking option for domestic parcels. I need more than an International Shipping Support Group. :(

I sent Bertha first class, which now comes standard with tracking (don't even have to ask for it anymore).
Oo for international? I would love it so much if they let me track international first class.
That's ok! There really should be tracking for first class. *shakes fist at post* not to be that person... But Us international postage sucks. It's costly and they really just don't seem to care as much as domestic. I always feel bad when I sell overseas because I feel like they just don't respect our international packages like they should.

Woo-hoo! Mr.TALE and myself go the apartment :D but there's a snag with it, they are requiring first and last rent immediately before we can move in... Which mean by my calculations, I won't be able to ship on time :cry: I'm really, really sorry :(

My older brother loaned Mr.TALE and I the money we needed :) Move-in date is April 6th and if my swap box hasn't arrived by the time I move, I'm going to ask Canada Post if they can redirect all mail adressed to Mr.TALE and me from my old adress to my new one. If they can't do that, I'm going to be walking back and checking every day at noon till it comes.
I'm just so happy right now :D I won't be moving on my birthday! :biggrin:

Wow, congrats on your new place. I know that Canada Post does redirect mail but I it costs almost $50 for 6 months and $80 for a year. I remember when it was $30. Good luck with your move!

You may want to have your buyer check on their end. I had that happen with one of my items that I sent to someone and it never did make it and I never found out why.

I feel really crappy about not being able to ship on time. When I signed up for this, I wasn't anticipating needing to move all the sudden and my funds going down the drain. t's all ready to go here at my house, It's been ready. I just had to wait for payday which is tomorrow night (April 10th), so I can ship it on Thursday. I am terribly sorry for being delayed. I had been on medical leave, then when I got back to work my husband was injured so I had to take another week off to take care of him. It's been one big mess. But I've been working steadily now and will have your box shipped to you as of Thursday! My cousin works at Target in WI. Although they are much better about giving time off (which is really good since she's had a lot of medical issues) their scheduling is horrible! Sometimes she works at 6am, sometimes she doesn't go in until the evening, some of her shifts are only for 3 hours. I worked at walmart when I was in Alaska. The good part was they started you out at $12/hr and I got $13/hr for being inside the dairy cooler for 9 hrs a day but OMG it SUCKD. There are so many levels of managers and you could never find the one you needed, they scheduled you whenever they wanted - basically at orientation and the intervies they tell you want you want to hear and about how great they are to work for-blah blah blah..but when you actually need something..nope. they dont give a rats ass. I needed 2 weeks off for my grandmothers funeral, in NY. I wasnt there long enough for a LOA and the store manager was the only one who could authroize 2 weeks off. He said "NO, if I was going to be gone more then 3 days to march myself straight into HR and tell them I quit because walmart only wants employees who are willing to work." It takes about 24 hours to get from Alaska to NY with layovers and crap. No way in hell I could do it in 3 days. Plus, if you have to transfer in chicago - you got a good change of a weather delay. :enraged:

Lol, I am glad this has been so enlightening. Everyone needs to know about the life cycle of sea slugs. I'm wondering what strange and unusual things you found on the internet.I can understand white on white would sort of bleed into each other.
Well I learned that you can buy fossils and dino poop on the internet. Whether I did buy it or not is a complete mystery, but I found it interesting that people sell that sort of thing on the internet. As a kid I loved Egypt and fossils, they always seemed like a far away dream, but now I know I can buy a piece of "history" from the internet. I also learned about the variety of sea slugs and how beautiful they can really be. When I thought sea slug I imagine some slimy gross lump drifting through the ocean waves, but these are more like colorful hovercraft with dust ruffle skirts. On my wanders into a craft show I met a guy who does blown glass sea creatures and I asked him to look into sea slugs and see if he could make those. I told him he would be very popular with his craft if he could make some. My husband met a kind old lady that day and he sat with her for a hour or so talking about painting roses and flowers. We wouldn't have gone to the craft show if I hadn't been looking for items for your box. So it really did change my life doing things for your collections.
Yep my pony is a pale pale pink. But she started out being white and I didn't like how that looked against white backgrounds.

their scheduling is horrible! Sometimes she works at 6am, sometimes she doesn't go in until the evening, some of her shifts are only for 3 hours. Her mom is pushing her to find a job with a more reliable schedule, but I think she'll just put up with it until she gets pushed out of the nest (she still lives at home).

and you know what else? The idiots at Six Flags MAILED my paycheck. Who in the hell mails a paycheck after only like 4 days? For those of you who are not in the USA, Six flags runs theme parks across the USA. MASSIVE FAIL on their part :enraged:
I have been having lots of fun watching this swap! So sad to hear that someone dropped out and left a participant without a box. :( That's always so depressing. At least it's really fun and positive when everyone pitches in together for a replacement box!

I got my box from Japan with a Figma I bought, then a box from Amazon with a couple movies I bought, then last night I got a huge mystery package and totally thought it was my swap box. Then I looked and saw it was from my mother-in-law. It ended up being two gorgeous quilts she made us

For reasons I do not understand, Alaska had a large Asian population and Fairbanks had at least 2 ethinic food stores - one phillipeano and one Korean. The Korean one was kinda creepy with their bugs in a jar type of items but the Phillipeano one had some cool drinks like aloe vera and thai tea and a lychee drin that I liked.
Yeah but I dont remember what it was. The church my boyfriend went to would have a monthly potluck and 3 of the guys were married to ladies from there. I did not get along with anyone from this suposed church as they had a strong dislike of catholics, muslims, jews, mormons, buddists, hindus...but they did get along with one of the baptist churches that was pretty radical in their views

There's surprisingly a big asian community in London. We have 2 asian supermarkets (one in the north-end and one in the west-end) and alot of asian-themed stores too. I usually frequent the anime shoppe called Neo-Tokyo and they offer lots of flavours of pocky and other Japanese sweets like Ramune, Nerunerunerune and wasabi gumballs (they sound weird, but they actually taste good!)
But the one asian supermarket I go to mainly sells fresh fish still swimming in the tank, they will clean and cut them for you to your specifications, and they sell lots of other asian foods like bao-buns (I lived off of these in my fall-semester finals) and rice is uber cheap there too! I got nearly a 20 lb. bag of rice for 10 bucks and it has lasted me for the entire school year and then some.
Ramune! I didn't like it though, but all I've tried is the regular flavor which tastes too much like liquified cheap bubblegum. Maybe I should try other flavors. They've got cool bottles, though.

I've had these. Or something like them. Thy tasted like vanilla chews and I found the rice paper didn't add to it at all. It's rare for me not to like a texture but I guess paper texture doesn't do it for me.

Mkia, those are hard candies actually. They remind me of the texture of nerds if you suck on them a while. They even crunch apart like nerds do.

Yes, um...and yes lol. I love chocolate...and toffee. Oh and Kinder chocolate, especially cocoa Happy Hippos, and....Bueno. I am so hitting up that World Market when I go back to FoCo. There is a foreign market at one of our malls that sells this kind of stuff so I am not completely cut off. The selection is a little small though and I think a lot of the stuff ends up being outdated before it all gets sold. I buy the Kinder candy anyway. Don't get between me and those cocoa Happy Hippos or someone may get hurt. Oh and Cadbury Mini Eggs and mini crème eggs at Easter.

Well... I'm back from the Wide World of Disney. Holy cow that place is HUGE!!! I'm sooo tired but it was a good time. My friend had her Cinderella wedding complete with glass carriage drawn by 6 white ponies. Soo cute. And our place cards were attached to glass slippers. She even got pics taken in the Magic Kingdom yesterday morning before it opened! And I got my mouseketeers ears that I wanted since I was 4. I had my name embroidered on them and did a bit of a double take when a cast member bid me goodbye by name as I was leaving the park. :lol:

I grabbed 3 limited edition special commemorative pins, though I don't collect them, so I'm selling them for anyone who wants. We just found out that Comic Con is coming to Denver. Ermahgerd. Paying attention is hard. So now I am pressuring hubbs into taking me since I have never been to a con. :P
We just had Starfest, but we skipped it and I told hubbs I wanted my first con to be a Comic Con. And then! Comic Con happening right on my doorstep. How do I pass it up?
Kind of bummed because we had no idea it was coming and the special guest is Stan Lee. Of course all the tickets into his panel and to meet him are long gone. But I think we're still going because George Takei is going to be there and hubbs really wants to meet him.
My big thing is wanting to checkout Artist Alley. I was looking at the list and there are going to be some awesome artists there!

people can be cleared from a swap before the whole thing is complete. The only requirement is that the package has been received by their partner (and obviously that it's after the shipping date - no super early shipping just to get cleared).

I was worried my box wasn't so great. I was worried about shipping to Sweden being expensive. I still wish I had done more with the box for this swap. I always feel that way after all swaps, though.

Everything is pretty much ready to go with the replacement box. Even if she comes through, a negative is still completely deserved. She went Mia and did not fulfill her requirements or make any effort to contact anyone. Baring extreme personal circumstances I think the negative should stand.

Oh I would definitely still send it if I was her. But either way, Yuru will get the box that we made as a replacement. So if it comes down to it, Yuru will just get two boxes :) lol.
