It's not just the internet, although I definitely share your concern there. I've gotten it when I'm making a purchase in some stores. On the bottom of your mouse are little black pads that help it to run across the mousepad/desk. Usually there are screws hiding under them. Carefully peel them up to see. They should be able to stick back on after you've taken it apart and put it back together.
Jeez, the amount of pollen in the air today! I don't have any allergies and even I notice it today, everything on the balcony gets quickly covered in yellow dust and it's getting worse. It's a lovely warm day but I had to close all the windows because my throat feels dry and my eyes are sleepy... Thank goodness they're not itchy! I feel bad for everyone who's actually allergic. :(

Welcome to my day, LOL!!
So I spent 2 hours making a curry from scratch, using up 3 bell peppers, onions etc... the aroma was fantastic, then I went to try it - ugh yuck, too many peppers, too bitter. Added coconut milk, a dash of salt & sugar - nope, that bitterness was staying. Abandoned mission - what a waste.
But I then cheated with a Chinese curry paste & water to make a new sauce within a couple of minutes - my fussy kid actually LIKED it so all is good!!
UK folks who enjoy Chinese chip-shop curry sauce - go to ASDA or Tesco or Morrisons & buy a square tub of Goldfish-brand curry paste, it's the bees knees!! A little goes a long way, the tub lasts for ages as you add a heaped spoonful to water in a saucepan & it thickens up.

Of course I start my period today, the one day that I work earlier than usual! I'm really down to today. I'm hoping it's just me being a little overemotional but I've felt pushed aside by my parents a lot lately. It seems that they can find time to do whatever they want but I want to do something I feel like we only do that if it's convenient for them, :(
Today my dad started going through my stuff in in study/home office that we all share. None of it was really private or personal and yet it upset me because it made me feel like again my stuff is in the way even thought it's been there a long time. I am literally blinking back tears He kept pulling stuff out saying "What is this?" "Why do you have this?"
They're great parents and I love them a lot but times like this make it hard

I FUBAR-ed my job test today, and I think I'm more embarrassed I got busted on my lack of skills then what I hyped myself to be on my resume.

So last weekend we watched my nephews (ages 4 & 10). The 10-yr-old (who is from my SIL's previous relationship btw) refused to eat lunch so was rooting around in the pantry for food. When I found him, he had his hands in MY bag of cereal. This wouldn't be an issue if he ever washed his hands. So I told him he needed to just pour the cereal into a dish because when he touched his privates to pee and then touched the food, it got germs all over the food that everyone was supposed to eat.
Apparently, this was too much truth for him to handle and after he got home he started crying and telling his parents that I was mean to him because I expect him to wash his hands after using the bathroom.
Boo. Freaking. Hoo. I don't like crotch crusties in my cereal and in fact will not eat any of the cereal now (it was a brand new bag--I'd had 1 bowl) so maybe what I should have done was handed him the bag and told him it was his because his hands were too disgusting for anyone else to eat it. That would have been mean. And at 10 years old he NEEDS to start washing without someone standing there telling him to do it.

He has ADD and they don't always make him take his meds especially in the summer or on weekends because he doesn't "need" them when he's not in school. So they write it off instead of insisting that he learn to do things or take his meds so he can "remember" to do things. If the meds make that much difference then they need to quit letting him not take them just because they don't want to make him.

TBH when I read that I wondered if it was a problem sequencing behaviours, rather than necessarily something that medicine can resolve. But I don't know the kid. Just if it's an executive function issue, it may well simply be that his brain struggles to remember to do things in the right order, and things go missing.
Since I was a kid I've always done my teeth etc in the morning/evening in the exact same process because my short term memory sometimes flips out on me and if I change up that routine I'm more likely to forget about it. The number of days I'm sure I've plugged in my internet...and actually haven't...or thought I locked the door...but actually didn't...
I'm not sure what the solution is in practical terms, especially since it relates to his family and how they would want to handle it. But I feel like maybe an established routine would help him around toilet functions. As you said, as he grows, it's an increasing issue he's going to be much more hurt by going forward.
Sometimes stuff like that seems like bad behaviour but it's not actually. I got told off a lot for not remembering to do things as a kid, as though I was doing it on purpose, so it's probable that he knows there's an issue...just not how to resolve it. Hence he reacted how he did, even though all you did was point out something reasonable. I remember being told off about stuff and feeling helpless because I didn't know how to fix that, but for my parents it was obvious how I should fix it (for example keeping my bedroom tidy), and so I'd keep getting in trouble for the same thing :/
I don't have ADHD as such, but I have worked with kids with ADHD and I know executive function issues can affect both ASD and ADHD, so it's just what immediately popped into my head. People with executive function issues have trouble sequencing actions or following them in a set order. For me it's organisation, cooking and navigating, but for him it may be personal hygiene. Just something that occurred to me.
On a superficial note though. I shuddered.

Your credit score is a confusing thing. The only thing a credit score does is tell sellers & loan officers that you know how to make debt. Stupid, right? The more debt you have (if you make payments regularly) the higher your score. The less debt you have (because you are smart with your money) the lower your score. If you close a credit card or pay off a loan your credit score DROPS. But a low credit score means a loan risk so higher interest rate. So if you are smart with your money you are a loan risk based on your credit score. Does your head hurt yet?

Seriously considering putting out little bowls of antifreeze and killing it that way except that it seems so inhumane I just can't bring myself to do it.I won't go into details but mouse poison is no less inhumane than the antifreeze you want to use, in all honesty.

WHERE are they coming from?! Since my last encounter I no longer leave the bags of litter on the bathroom floor until garbage day. Now they go IN the garbage can. It's possible, as I am due for garbage taking out (I need someone's help though - usually my dad or my niece) that they are in the garbage. I have sprayed said garbage bag with Raid. The litter box is clean. The garbage disposal is clean. There is no food out except the cat food, and they are in there every morning. I kill as many as I can.
A mating couple had the audacity to fly in front of my face earlier. I tried clapping them between my hands but they got away. I need to find what is enticing them before any eggs are laid.
I want to know how they keep getting in here in the first place!

My Father's Day dinner is turning out to be an epic fail. I guess there is apparently a difference between 'pork loin' and 'pork loin roast'. I made a pork loin roast according to pork loin directions. I should have been suspicious that it only said to roast for 20 minutes. It was completely red inside. It's 9pm and my family is starving while it slow-roasts the rest of the way. I don't even want it now. And now it's thundering outside, so my kids are flipping out.

The slowly-approaching alternative I'm on about is the menopause. I'm now 47, so the dreaded age of 50 is around the corner. And women & AFAB are just meant to put up with it??? it's baffling that most women go through these experiences and no one talks about it. when my mom went through menopause I was in high school. we fought a lot back then and later she told me that she had been going through menopause and had a really hard time. i wish she would have told me so i didn't just think she hated me. i don't know why we don't talk about women's issues.
The clinic called to say my psychiatrist had an emergency and my appointment tomorrow is cancelled. I hope everything is okay but I'm disappointed. She isn't available until August. I think I last saw her in April.

It's in a wider discussion on diversity awareness, and I think it's really important to make the awareness point and challenge this stuff politely. But yeesh...bottling that up is stressful.
I don't mind person first rhetoric if an individual prefers it, but it's not right for anyone to tell any disabled person how they should refer to THEIR OWN disability, much less imply that a better way to discuss that disability is to label it something that it isn't.
And the meat eaters are the ones claiming we vegetarians & vegans harass them...

I had to leave the vegetarian and vegan groups I was in on Facebook because EVERY. SINGLE. POST. was inundated with meat eaters posting pictures of dead animals :( I don't understand why people join groups just to harass the intended members. I was in the groups to get news about new veggie/vegan alternatives and recipes and stuff. The worst part? Facebook doesn't automatically hide most of the content posted. What drove me to leave finally was a gif inside a slaughterhouse that wasn't censored. Plus, I'm just tired of seeing the same exact thing said over and over and over again by the meat eaters. Just leave us alone :mad: :(

edit: My Minecraft house burned down!! :wail: Aw. I was trying to make a blacksmith area and put some lava in a stone holder but the ceiling caught fire! I worked on that house for two days :(
editx2: Well it appears that the ants were coming from two directions and I only took care of one. This morning there was a bunch of tiny ants in the cat food dish and I followed the line up and around one closet, two closets, and found them coming from the craft closet. Worse? There were a few larger ants mixed in. They could have been tiny ant soldiers? But I think they were a different species. I really hope I stopped them this time.

My complaint here is my silly mother. She walked sister into town to catch her train early this morning. Without eating anything before hand. So she came back exhausted. I told her off and so did Dad.
I'm incredibly dizzy today and very tired. Well, I'm usually tired. I took a two hour nap and it barely helped. It's only 8pm and I could go to bed. I've been out of multivitamins and extra potassium for a week or so, maybe that's why?
The fruit flies continue to bother me. Always flying in my face - it's really irritating! I thought they'd have died out by now, they don't live very long. I haven't found a nest anywhere so I don't know. I wish they'd go away already.
Tomorrow I have to drop off the rent check and get my mail. It's the last day to do so. I hope my dizziness is better tomorrow. I hate that the office and mailboxes are so close yet still far enough away I have a problem walking to them.

There's a tropical storm coming, "Elsa" (which I think should have been a polar storm name instead) and if it stays on course it will make landfall near me. I've been in a lot of tropical storms so I'm not bothered. However, it's making the atmospheric pressure change and I have a horrible headache and because of the panic buying, I can't get groceries.
In bug related news, I am having a fruit fly problem yet again. Maybe they do come through the drains after all. And there was a tiny ant on my water bottle this morning inside the lid that I had been drinking from. I also found them in my dirty clothes. Are they feasting on my sweat? Why in my clothes? I know RIFA like dirty clothes, but they're insane. I can't spray my clothes... so instead I sprayed the carpet around my laundry basket and by my nightstand. Ugh. I just want everything alive that isn't my cat to GET OUT.

my pet theory is that everyone else will also try to get there early. so to avoid the crowds I try to get a late start. and i end up getting there on time. it really annoys my partner but i swear it works.
I posted a picture of an item in my other (non pony) collection on Facebook. Someone loved it and asked where I got it. Before I had a chance to tell that person where I got the item another person commented where to buy the item and that "they were way too expensive." I felt that last part was really rude. I that person had been complaining about the price of the item in another group we both have access to but this was on my own page. :(

Suuuper trivial complaint: I can't make decent roofs for houses in the Sims even after watching multiple roof tutorials. I wish Sims 4 had auto roofs like Sims 3 does.
I haven't played in ages, but my technique is mostly, "if it covers the rooms then it'll do" xD.
I generally just plunk something down and extend it to cover space. I'd never make an architect.
Not really a complaint but my mom read somewhere that bars of Irish Spring will make flies goes away because they don't like the scent. Now we have fresh bars of soap sitting on the kitchen table.
We are still having trouble with flies. I suggested the apple cider vinegar trap to my dad but he said "he heard that didn't work" and still wants to to burn citronella candles in the house. I've tried to talk to my mom about my worries about burning them due to the asthma but she doesn't seem to be taking my concerns seriously. So far my dad hasn't been able to find citronella candles.

My computer is suddenly telling me that my USB must be formatted before I can use it. Um...I've been using it for a couple of years. At least I have a backup (and now creating a second backup for my backup) but is there any way to restore the files? It would be nice not to have to redo some of the work on there--it's not that much but still time consuming.

Well there is always the scary possibility that the USB drive is corrupted, those little USB sticks are far from the most reliable form of storage...
Are you using the drive on a new computer?
If not, you could open the disk utility on Windows to see if the data/files are even still on there (can't view them but it'll tell you if something's taking up space on it). That will also tell you what it's currently formatted as (If it's Windows it should either say FAT-something or NTFS). There are some third-party tools that might also be able to help you undo whatever the drive's come down with (EaseUS and MiniTool come to mind).
I don't like going to the GP, and twice in a week is annoying. Made worse by the fact I hate phone stuff, and they were all like, well, tough, that's how we do it at the moment.

I'm so sorry :( :hug: My sister was diagnosed earlier this year and it's been a rollercoaster, but she's beating it. You might be eligible for Medicaid and SSI to help you. They expedited my sister's case and she was approved right away. I hope things go well for you :hug:

My complaint is, sweet coffee, blech. I'm almost out of the Cinnamon Toast Crunch creamer I bought. Never again. The thing, is really good on it's own (and would be great with cereal, haha) but in my coffee it's just too sweet and has an unpleasant aftertaste. When I first started drinking my coffee black, I thought, how can anyone like this?! But I did it for health reasons and now I can't drink it any other way.
My eczema is breaking out all over my arm and hand. On my hand it's on my knuckles and it hurts so bad.
edit: The store was out of lettuce. Lettuce! Was there a recall I missed? How can you run out of lettuce. Like ALL lettuce... lettuce is a weird word.

My mother was diagnosed with a form of blood cancer in 1991 and she's still here in 2021. It may be a battle, but it doesn't mean it's a battle you can't win. :) In my Mum's case, she's in remission at present - hers is not permanently cureable and there's always a remission chance, but even so she's done really well.
My sister and I were kids when mum was diagnosed - I was 9 and I think Naynie had just turned 4. Mum was ill for about a year before her diagnosis, and Naynie doesn't actually remember things being any different.
You'd be surprised how kids adjust to a new reality...we kind of just did, but Mum always involved us in knowing what was going on. I remember she had to do injections, and she'd often show us so we knew what was happening. That's not to say it won't be stressful sometimes, but you can do this :) And so can they.

The article is a combination of my specialism and another, and I'm fully prepared to be brutalised and educated on the second as it isn't an area I know as well as mine. But this review is a...problem, and I really hate when I get reviews like that.
The reviewer managed to confuse one historical figure for another, and then lectured me on my use of one thinking it was the other.
They dismissed the relevance of the text my article was focused on, and instead decided to cite another related text - I still don't really know why, but the best I could glean was that they felt like one text was as good as another? In any case they told me it wasn't productive to look at the variants as their detail didn't matter...?
Then they lectured me on a particular facet of the texts I study which I didn't include. Because the facet doesn't apply to the text I was using as my source material.
And then they closed off by telling me that I should do more reading on my specialist subject.
...This is a summary of course. But seriously? You muddle up the characters, choose to cite a different text, ignore the actual text, try to impose an irrelevant interpretation on that text and then tell me *I* need to do more reading?
Seriously, I don't expect every Academic to know every detail of subject, but if you're going to be a patronising jerk in your commentary, at least make sure your patronising lecture is correct.

Keeping the news to yourself IRL is totally understandable, so I am relieved to know that you feel comfortable sharing it here, under some kind of anonymity, but still getting that little bit of mental support that is so important.

I do not know what "type" you have been diagnosed with, but can share that my Mum had the stomach one (diagnosed in her 50s); we were very lucky in that they caught it just before it breached the lining, so it was still contained.
Mum still had her stomach removed, resulting in the equivalent of a gastric bypass. The side effect was, of course, significant weight loss, but Mum was cool with that! ;) she had radiotherapy and chemo too; the first chemo round was tolerable & she kept her hair. On her second chemo cycle, they upped the strength, so she was very, very tired as the drugs did their thing; there was a bit of hair loss but it grew back - with a wavy texture & strangely darker? Mum had hardly any greys when she approached her 70s, whereas my maternal Granny & Great Granny where snow-white by that age! Isn't that strange?
I hope that the answers are the best type of answers!!
My trivial complaint - built a bunk bed for my kid who begged me to have a "sleepover" with her last night - currently typing this on my laptop form the top bunk, reliving my youth and fighting vertigo... oh and my butt is too big to wiggle down the narrow kiddy ladder, so instead I'm performing my own clumsy version of parkour & jumping on strategically-placed furniture to climb up/down :lol:

My back isn't getting any better. Had a hard time getting out of bed again this morning. Stretching helps, but it's temporary. If things were normal I'd go to the ER. I don't know what to do besides hot and cold therapy, stretching and just taking it easy. Yesterday I had to lift a heavy box. I hate when my phone rings and it's a nuisance call. I don't answer my phone as a rule. Phone calls stress me out, so I only use my phone to talk to people who know I don't like the phone (ie family) or on rare occasions when I have to, those that can't be avoided (doctor, bank, etc). So random sales calls do not get answered. But they do make me jump.
I wish that people weren't allowed to pass on people's phone numbers like they do. Companies get away with it too much and they might think it's harmless, but it really isn't.
listened to a podcast about the case from the 90s where the woman spilled mcdonald's coffee on herself and sued. this case i so sad and upsetting. i already knew that her case was horrifying and she was severely injured from the coffee that was basically boiling hot. but this story makes me so angry every time. it's so upsetting that this is the case everyone made fun of and thought was a frivolous money grab. i'm not sure if it's widely known but the way the case was portrayed in the media and parodied on seinfeld is completely innacurate. i didn't know until i commented to a barista at starbucks about my partner saying the coffee wasn't as hot as he liked. and the barista told me that learning about the case is part of their training and it was actually a tragic and sad case.We discussed this case in a law & logic class I took back in college. It's a real shame :(
btw if you like podcasts "You're wrong about..." is really good. especially if you grew up in the 90s. Swindled also had an episode about this case but i had to stop listening to that podcast because it was too depressing for me.
also my dog managed to rip a hole in my mattress pad before i got a chance to put the clean sheets on it. i am glad it was just the pad and not the mattress
My back problem has progressed to numbness in my right foot up to my knee. I think I do have to go to the ER now. It hurts even when I'm sitting, which it didn't at first. Also it's affects my left leg too now, pain shoots down them both.
Great. Just after everything with my sister happened and I have to go to the hospital too. My parents are going to be so worried :(

My friend invited me to sell stuff at a craft sale with her again. I am going to do it but I don't expect to sell much (if anything) because the audience might not be right for my crafts. (If someone is looking for a "Welcome" sign in Dutch, they're not going to spend money on a fandom inspired art piece.) And the last time I did a sale with her one of the other vendors (who had outrageously priced "found" wood pieces that she had painted "Welcome" on in cheap paint) told me that I would sell more if I put "Salt Lake City, UT" on my stuff because then it would be a "collectable". I am not destroying my designs with a tacky city name. If people want that they can actually GO to Salt Lake (I am not from there and wasn't selling there at the time, either) and get a cheap, overpriced souvenir at the mall or airport.
My mom said that maybe I need to adjust my prices to the audience. So instead of pricing my work based on the value of my skill and time I should price it like a garage sale and lose money just because I'm surrounded by people who aren't interested in my art style? I hate how people devalue artists and their work. :rant:

If you want a one-of-a-kind art piece that nobody else will ever create (and I will likely never create again as I do not tend to reproduce my own work) then you pay the asking price. My prices are not unreasonable and cheaper than Etsy so I'm not going to change them. And if you think you can do a better job than me, go ahead. I'm not stopping you.

I don't even live in Florida, I live in Oklahoma, where we are at least supposed to have some resemblance of fall. It's supposed to get up to 95/96 on Friday. :enraged:
This is OCTOBER. It is FALL. Seriously, I hate living here so much. Miserable place, for many many reasons.
Oh wow. I didn't realize it got that hot in OK. That's higher than our temps are going to be, we'll be in the low 90s but with the humidity it'll feel hotter. I saw a new predictive map for climate change, it's supposed to be the most accurate to date. The biggest changes are going to be the NE coast and the along the Great Plains. They say the best spots to live in the US to avoid the harshest effects of climate change are from where I used to live (because of course it is); Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan will still have four discernable seasons, including Upper Michigan, which is a cheap place to live. But you gotta watch out for sinkholes. In my "lottery fantasies" my goal is to move there, or somewhere in mid Wisconsin. Florida is too hot, has too many bugs that can kill me and hurricanes (AND sinkholes, tornados, fires and flash floods plus "Florida man").
Yeah... Florida is miserable. I would be so depressed living there.
I have tried to convince my parents to move to Michigan (I don't want to go without them, and also I can't really be fully independent with my lack of ability to drive and all), but they don't like that it's not a true blue state. I understand but I think that's irrational when we live in one of the most red states in the nation. At least in Michigan we could move to Lansing or Ann Arbour and be in an actual blue county/city. There are absolutely no areas like that in Oklahoma.
The fact of the matter is that it's the only logical move from where we live with our finances. I'd love to move to New England, but I don't want to be stuck in Oklahoma forever just because we can't afford to move to the best area. I'm very much a settle for something better but not perfect kinda person. Michigan is that happy medium, IMO.
I'm probably biased because climate is also very important to me (obviously) and Michigan would be so nice.

My insurance switched over the 1st. The bigger, yet inferior company absorbed my company (they are all part of Medicaid but have different services - it doesn't make much sense). And now this new insurance is screwing me all up. I've got five referrals that are no good because they don't take Sunshine Health when before the 1st they would have taken Staywell. So now I have to call my doctor's office - which, btw, is NOT the doctor listed on my new card, I had to call and order a new with my proper PCP on it - and tell them, oops, you need to find different doctors because Sunshine Health sucks.
The more I read about American health insurance the less I understand how anyone accesses medical care over there. I think my head would explode if I had to try and figure it out.
Although right now over here I'm not overly pleased with the NHS and the delays to the vaccines for people like my Mum. She spent some time yesterday reading the GPs the riot act over it. Today's been a frustrating day here as well.
My birthday is Friday and my mom bought me some things from Walmart.com today while I was over at my parents house. My dad and I went to pickup the order and I didn't look in the bag because my dad put it in the backseat. One of the things my mom bought me was the Unicorn Party Celebration pack. They would have been my first G5s but when I got home and took the box out of the bag and looked at them, Sunny is missing! Someone ripped her off the box and then a Walmart employee didn't notice and gave it to me :mad: So now instead of having new ponies (my first in months), I have to wait until Friday when I go back to my parents, print out the receipt, go back to Walmart and HOPE they still have a complete set to exchange it for.
If I decide to do a giveaway, where would I post it on the Arena?

I think I'm protected up to $35? But the legal jargon is confusing and they don't have the account type I have anymore (I'm grandfathered in, apparently) so I can't tell what's covered and what isn't. I also can't find what the overdraft fee is.
If I'm protected up to $35, that'd be great. Netflix auto payment isn't until the 14th and I'll have money then. I think Amazon Prime already took their fee. I keep telling my parents that this would happen. Even an extra 20 bucks would be helpful.

Microsoft wants me to upgrade from Windows 10 but for me that would mean getting a new computer (or seriously upgrading) because mine doesn't have the right programs for Windows 11. My computer is 9 years old, but I really like the color and I don't want a new one especially since most laptops now don't have a DVD/CD player/burner. Why can't they just let me be?
I'm trying to pretend the nights aren't getting longer, but they are, and my brain wants to hibernate...

We had some brief flickers last night, apparently my parents' tv turned itself off, but that was all so far. The wind has died down here a lot now but it was a bit mad last night. November has been generally nice but I guess it wanted to finish with a bang.
My computer randomly started sending me the football scores.
In itself this isn't an issue, I follow football and do keep up to date with this stuff but...I'm not really sure how my PC knows which football team I support o.O. It did it last week as well as this, and so it's not coincidence, it got the right game both times. And also, I don't always want up to date scores as they come in, depending on the game or what else is going on. So...thank you, PC, but it's a bit much.

My spider plants apparently brought some flies in with them. Or at least, eggs or larvae or something in their soil. Yesterday there were flies all over my bedroom window. I hate having to resort to the vacuum cleaner in such situations, and I got out as many as possible, but it just wasn't realistic.THIS is why I like spiders xxx
On the positive, the couple of spiders who make their home on my window (yes, I know they're there, no, I don't mind at all) thought Christmas had arrived early and had already taken care of a few flies before I even got to them.
My trivial complaint is a canker sore. Where it is located makes it difficult/painful to swallow and I feel like swallowing just irritates it so I'm not sure what to do to make it go away. So annoying.

I've been trying to imagine myself as a nuerodivergent child in that situation, and just thinking about the fear and humiliation my own sister had to go through is so gut-wrenching. That manager is a cruel, heartless person and the store owner is just as bad as she is.
Your poor sister. Especially when she was just trying to help.
It's a bad way to treat any kid, but that kind of behaviour can cause much more trauma in an autistic person because we're so sensitive to other people's hostility and atmosphere, even if we can't process it. And of course she isn't going to be able to communicate clearly to a monster bearing down on her yelling unfounded accusations.
I hope you get some satisfaction from the store, but it doesn't undo the experience.

We live side by side as neighbors. Even though we do not have a lock in the woodshed, no one has stolen from us!
How can this even be possible, as I am often at home and I keep a close eye on what is going on outside. There have been no extra traces in the snow, so it must have happened earlier when there was no snow. :wonder: My brother's yard is really dark in the evening and night and I have often told him to buy a yard lamp. :nope:
I hate posting again so soon but there was a letter in my door today. The big inspection is coming up for our apartments, Jan 28. It's nice that they gave us a month notice but it's still nerve-wracking. It says that if they find even DEAD bugs, you'll fail the inspection! What?! That doesn't sound fair at all. I'm still having fruit flies, but I put out some traps today and they're working very well. I need to get my garbage out though. My dad said he'll be down this way on Friday so hopefully we can do it then.
And I still have boxes about the place. From when I moved in. A year and a half ago :lookround:
I wanted to mop the floors anyway, but now I have to. I guess I'll have to stuff my boxes in the laundry closet. My dad said he might buy me a washer & dryer for Christmas, but that didn't happen so... might as well use the space. Why don't I unpack them? I could unpack some, but some of it is stuff I don't have room for, or things that go on the wall and other décor. For example, I have three different collections of dragon ornaments. I have trees for them, but nowhere to put the trees.
Wish me luck as I work past my pain and get this place inspection ready and hopefully get rid of the flies again. The letter also said there will be a preliminary inspection by the community manager who will tell you what you should fix before the real inspection. So it's not a total blindside. Still makes me anxious!

She helped me out so much. But now I'm on my own again. And I won't see my therapist until the 12th of Jan, so... I'm kinda in the ocean without a life jacket at the moment ^^;Deffo do!!! ^ I feel the same. I do all my grocery shopping at Walmart.com and have it delivered. Usually I don't have problems but when I do it sucks. I ordered two yellow onions and they were both moldy. I also got a squashed box of Texas Toast. I ordered tortilla chips for nachos twice, and both times the bags of chips were open! So of course they were stale. Another time, half my eggs were cracked. Terrible.

Yesterday someone accidentally knocked the fridge setting onto super cool. So some of the food for tea got accidentally frozen. I am quite paranoid about food, so of course this was worrying.
The weather here is full scale November, rain rain rain and it's very difficult to be motivated to do anything useful :/

Texas Toast is thick cut bread that is seasoned with garlic and usually served with pasta. You can also add cheese to it which is even better. It's very yummy :)

My little 7 pound maltipoo got attacked by a loose Rottweiler last night. I debated on making a WYP thread, but thankfully it seems like the dogs teeth only ripped my dogs skin and he will be okay, so I don’t think a whole thread is warranted.Not surprised you were so scared xxx :shocked: :cry:
The owners of the other dog truthfully were very nice and did everything right. They tackled their dog to the ground within seconds (although it felt so much longer in the moment!) and offered to pay for all of our vet expenses. I still feel the dog should have been leashed, but I guess what happened was it was getting out of their car, saw my dog from across the street, and charged. They said she’s never done anything like it, so I guess we were in the wrong place at the wrong time.
If anything I’m more horrified at my own inaction. I was so paralyzed with fear that I couldn’t even scream or yell for help. :cry: If the owners of the other dog hadn’t been right there I don’t know what would have happened. That dog had picked my dog up and was starting to swing him like a chew toy, it was honestly traumatic. I keep going back over it in my mind like, what if I had been just a little quicker and had managed to pick my dog up? If I hadn’t been wearing headphones, could I have prevented this? What if my dog had been wearing his sweater, would that have prevented the bite markers from going as deep? I just feel like I could have done more somehow.
My dog has some stitches on the wounds now and I guess some sort of drainage tube on one bite mark? But it seems like it he should make a full recovery. I’m just scared to walk him again now. This isn’t the first time he’s been charged. A lot of folks around here seem to think the world is their dog park and they let their dogs run off leash. It’s really frustrating.

Thanks all for the kind words ad encouragement! I do think folks can underestimate how dangerous dogs can be. Of course they trust and love you their owner, but they can still be easily spooked by other things, they are animals after all! I also I agree it’s primarily up to the owners to take responsibility. I’ve always primarily owned little dogs because I know I wouldn’t have control over a big dog. We’ve been working really hard with this current dog to get him trained (he’s a rescue) and his trainer says he never sees dogs his size get proper training. :lol: It’s funny, but it’s also sad because little dogs can be aggressive and cause damage too!
It seems like he’s starting to perk up a little! He’s been eating well and even though he doesn’t walk much, he does walk around pretty well when we bring him to the backyard to go potty, so it seems like once the stitches come out he should be back to normal! :)
I found some pretty gross stuff under my computer desk while fishing out the aux cable from under there :scared: I really need to clean it up some day...

Front lawn has been driven over again >_< Dad has moved some large stones, painted them white and placed them where the lawn has been driven over. I had been planning to buy a large, cute, mother duck and even cuter ducklings to put on the lawn as a deterrent.
This is the fourth time in 6 months it has been driven over. The first time was buy a 12 wheel, curtain sided lorry, it was soooooo bad, the council had to come and out to clear up the mess on the road. There was mud and lawn smeared up the road for 50 meters and a two foot deep trough/gouge in the lawn.

Your dad is nicer than I would be. After the third time I would have buried spikes that would pop their tires. If they complained I'd ask them why they were trespassing on and vandalizing my property. If they called the cops, I'd point out the damage to them and let them ticket the violators.
Still sick -_- My joints really hurt, even my fingers. It's been pretty cold the last week or so, and that could be contributing, but I think it's mostly whatever I have caught. My mom is sick too, but our symptoms are different so I don't think it's the same thing. It's not covid (why does spellcheck still not recognize this?!).
I'm also going to complain about people standing under my bedroom window and talking LOUDLY this morning. It was two dudes, I have no idea who they were. I know they don't live close, unless they were visiting. I also don't know what they were talking about, I missed the beginning of their conversation due to being asleep! It was super early too! Like 6:30! Granted, I usually get up around then but since I'm not feeling well I didn't want to get up yet. I was able to go back to sleep when they finally walked away.
I blame the tree. People like to stand by it. It's a very nice tree. It helps block my window from my neighbors. But people need to go to the little park and talk instead. I hate overhearing people.

Inspection day today. Units are randomly chosen so I hope I don't get picked. I've been slacking on housecleaning due to my tooth, which actually feels better today, unless my pain tolerance went up. Either way, the kitchen and bathroom could be in better shape. At least the floors are clean.

Things that involve money make organisations so callous.
Read an article just now about levelling up cash being given to Sheffield and Wolverhampton. Now, I don't think that's a bad idea - except we have a govt who don't really understand levelling up in the slightest. Tories are not really interested in stuff like that. And also that their levelling up seems to be about towns and cities.
There are a lot of poor areas in counties like mine, where there are no cities and where a lot of the county is rural. The council on the rural side are already hiking their council tax because of deficit, in part caused by how much more it takes to get across the region to everyone (albeit they are also a bit stupid). It's the kind of place that nobody ever thinks of, most people don't even know where to find it on a map, and pretty much nobody cares about the kids growing up here.
Levelling up is apparently not applicable to kids growing up outside of cities, even though it's well documented that transport, connections and opportunities in most of these regions are very few. There are just as many kids here who need support as in the cities. But I guarantee you they won't get it.
Speaking of the cold, this is really going to hurt the manatees. They finally started eating the lettuce they were given (because climate change killed off the seagrass and they're all starving) but they do very poorly in the cold.
My complaint don't feel very trivial but I still feel like writing...
So far 2022 is not treating me or my family kindly.
First 2-3 weeks of January I was down with Covid-19. It wasn´t so bad actually but I was very annoyed with the fever and all the coughing that never seemed to stop.
But then last week my father died very suddenly by sepsis. It only took a couple of days from being relatively healthy to just pass away because the bacteria basically ate up his heart valves....The doctors said it was an extremely aggressive bacteria and they tried an operation to transplant new heart valves but his body was already too weak and he died the night after surgery. Apparently the first symptoms could be just a common cold which seemed to be the case. But he was very careful and tested for covid and since he was negativ none of us thought much of it more than it was a common cold....
He died 29th of January and was going to retire from work on the first of February. Had his 65th birthday while in emergency care....
This is of course a huge chock for me and the family... None of us even had a chance to talk to him or to say goodbye because he got sick so fast.... He wasn't my biological father but he did officially adopt me and was very proud of that....
Now my days seems to be most about helping out mom and supporting her with all the paperwork and stuff that needs to be fixed and prepare for the funeral.

And if that´s not enough, my moms dog slipped on the ice injuring his back. Took him to the vet earlier today and they took some X-rays. Seems like there´s no option then to put him down now since his lower spine is injured and he can´t really move his back legs properly... He´s just the biggest (Shiloh Shepherd) and sweetest dog ever. I don´t think I ever meet a dog with such a loving temperament so it pains me to see him go and also leaving mom all alone in her house now....
Right now I'm mostly exhausted but I hope things will look better... All I can do is to continue to support mom and the rest of the family...
And I am ever so thankful for my beloved fiance. He is the best support I could ever wish for!

So far 2022 is not treating me or my family kindly.
First 2-3 weeks of January I was down with Covid-19. It wasn´t so bad actually but I was very annoyed with the fever and all the coughing that never seemed to stop.
But then last week my father died very suddenly by sepsis. It only took a couple of days from being relatively healthy to just pass away because the bacteria basically ate up his heart valves....The doctors said it was an extremely aggressive bacteria and they tried an operation to transplant new heart valves but his body was already too weak and he died the night after surgery. Apparently the first symptoms could be just a common cold which seemed to be the case. But he was very careful and tested for covid and since he was negativ none of us thought much of it more than it was a common cold....
He died 29th of January and was going to retire from work on the first of February. Had his 65th birthday while in emergency care....
This is of course a huge chock for me and the family... None of us even had a chance to talk to him or to say goodbye because he got sick so fast.... He wasn't my biological father but he did officially adopt me and was very proud of that....

I've been getting calls for three days now about every hour. The locations are always different but the call is the same. I answer and there's a weird noise like a gurgling and then a robot voice says goodbye and then hangs up. It's driving me crazy and I'm beginning to hate my ring tone.
I don't want to sound like a paranoid conspiracy nut but what's the deal? Are they getting information from me/my phone when I answer? What's the weird sound? It's like I'm being called by a numbers station or something.
I only answered it a few times, mainly out of frustration. I can't block them either because it's a different number each time. But I have some good news, the calls stopped today. It might be because it's Saturday, since I usually only get robo calls and other spam during the week. Guess we'll see come Monday.

I've tried to her that I can't read her mind and I need her to tell me if she decides to do something different when I'm relying on her previous statement, but it never does any good. I always feel like she thinks I'm the one in the wrong whenever this happens. :(

Ugh. So aggravated right now. Bought 2 ponies from eBay separate auctions. Well they both arrived today, I’m up at my mom’s for Valentines. I go to my house that’s not even 30 minutes away to get my mail. I get there & see that one of my packages was stolen out of my mailbox & the other they left. I have no clue who did this & the worst of it there’s nothing I can do about it. I just want to cry. Why do people do things like this? I’m now getting a P.O. Box. We’ve lived here over 5 years and now this happens. It kinda ruined today for me.

I'm always tired, but this is extra tired. My stomach hurts too, which is happening a lot more frequently. I'm not eating what I should and eating too much of what I shouldn't. I'm paying for it with pain and feeling uncomfortable and I bet I gained weight back. Feeling more depressed than usual too. It's probably all related. I could go back to my diet but I've already bought all this stuff and I don't want to waste it.
The situation in Ukraine and Russia is already worrying and stressful for me. :huh: :yikes: And I hate to read the news in the press and follow the news broadcasts of the various channels when there are no events there other than this threat of war. :pout:

I almost started crying that madness. I was shocked and couldn’t do anything all day. I don’t remember anything about going to the grocery store, but I still bought something for the fridge.
And I still don't sleep.
I have not dared to look at pictures of explosions, etc. published by the media. I am already quite sad and depressed enough. I am thinking and mourning the fleeing and suffering people of Ukraine and also the people of Russia who did not want this. :cry: What is happening to us who are Russia's neighbors? Has the end of the world already begun? :huh:

A little small complaint yet … My cat scratched my palm open! :shocked: It was going to vomit on the carpet, so I went to lift it off to the bare floor. It startled and jumped out of my hands. Then I had bleeding hands. Really great experience for me who has hematophobia! :ohyeah: :freak: Luckily, my mother was there and she helped clean the wounds. :heart: I would have fainted if I had tried to clean them myself. Now I have gauze in my left hand and patches in my right hand. :|

I suspected ovarian cysts, but my (male) OBGYN kept dismissing it and telling my parents that I was "just another teenage girl overreacting." It turned out to be endometriosis and I had to have surgery for it. I am still angry about that. :hmm: I hope your situation goes over much more smoothly.
So, my cat bit my hand. She sometimes does this when she's being impatient for me to wake up. The problem is she bites really hard. I don't think she does it on purpose. She's missing teeth, so I think she just bites and chews with more force and the same thing happens when she bites me. It's only been two days and my hand is already super infected. I'm thinking of going to the ER.
What really annoys me though is that I can't play my PS4 :pout: It's too painful.

I'm overwhelmed. There is too much going on...nationally, globally, or just in my personal life. Engaging in conversation of any kind is a struggle. I don't really want to talk, but I also know that if I don't, I'll withdraw more than I already do. It's exhausting. Every day I tell myself that things will get better (and probably not as soon as we'd like it too) but it honestly feels like a pipe dream.
I think I'm going to shower and sleep in an attempt to clear my head. >_<
The meds my doctor gave me for my sinusitis is some hardcore stuff. It's used to treat, among other things, anthrax and plague :crazy: It has some scary potential side effects and I'm a little scared to take it. I think I'll wait and start it tomorrow in the morning so I can be awake to monitor myself. I'll tell my mom to call me and make sure I answer.

I had an endoscopy today myself, a gastroscopy (just the stomach and the small bowel?). I don't have anyone to look after me, so I had to go with numbing instead of sedation. I warned them that I had a really violent gag reflex, and I was already feeling sick from bile/acid reflux and fasting from the night before.
I panicked during the procedure and started to retch :cry: The doctor was actually IN the stomach the first time, and we took a break and then tried again. I was able to see the inside of my stomach, which was pretty cool, but I really panicked and retched hard. I'm back home safe, I had something small to eat after I was allowed to (once the numbing spray wore off), and did some shopping to cheer myself up.

:yikes: I am also about to have a gastroscopy at the end of April. I'm a little nervous about it. Let's see if I get a similar panic there as you, because I also have a sensitive / violent gag reflex. Just plain brushing your teeth or tongue causes this reflex for me. :rolleyes:
My mother also has an appointment with a doctor soon next week. First blood tests and electrocardiogram on Monday. On Friday, he will know the results. They worry me. My mother has something on her elbow, that’s what worries me the most! I'm afraid the worst … :yikes:

is it normal to want to cry, throw up, and pass out? i'm so stressed out right now. i feel like i'm being buried under so many tasks i have to get done in the next 2 weeks. most of this i didn't ask for or want.
I miss when phone calls and texts were fun. like when it was a friend calling to catch up or texting to make plans. i don't know if it's because i'm older or what but now every time the phone rings it's rarely something good. at best it's a junk call. if it isn't junk it's usually someone needing me to do something or calling to ask questions about whatever. i get stressed out every time i hear the phone ring. and texts are usually junk for more people asking me to do stuff. i have a lot of anxiety talking to people i don't know well. i get stressed out if i know i have a phone/video call with someone i don't know. i guess not everyone has this issue and i just don't like people forcing me into stressful situations. it feels really invasive.Big same. And then there are the ones you have to MAKE. Like before, it was five minutes to get through. Now you're on hold for an hour, interrupted every minute with "your call is important to us" messages, or something about what's available online, then when you're finally through it's some poor sod who would love to help but generally doesn't have the power or authority to do so...

My complaint is my therapist always being booked already for the month when I see her. I need to see her weekly, I've decided, and she agreed to that, but she doesn't have any openings for May. I do have an appointment set up for the 24th. Luckily, June was mostly open so I got in for 3 weeks. She said the problem is that the front desk books new clients for her without her knowing until she sees her schedule. Then she said half of new clients no show. Seems like a bad way to go about things, but whatever. I know it's not her fault.
Could you ask her if she'd be willing to do a phone/zoom meeting with you if someone cancels/no shows? You could set a time (for example Wednesdays at 3) and if she doesn't call by fifteen minutes after you'll know that her client showed up.

When I was driving home tonight I passed by a jinxed hotel that can never seem to keep the same name for more than a few months. I pass it every night and there is usually some activity, but nothing odd. Tonight though there were maybe about 20 cop cars, crime tape all around the main entrance, and people in the parking lot being interviewed.
So I’m already on high alert, right? Well I pulled up to my assigned parking and sat there for a while. I do this most nights, I may be listening to the end of a song or gathering up my stuff. Just as I’m turning off my car I catch a glimpse of someone standing behind my car. He was always back in the parking area behind me, and I couldn’t tell if he was facing me or had his back to me. Actually…I guess I could t even tell if it was a man, but I felt like it was. But no big deal. I’m cautious at night anyway when getting out of my car so I sit there for a few minutes to see what he’s up to. Usually people are also just getting home themselves and will be on their way before I have the chance to worry too much.
This guy didn’t move. I kept starting out my rear view window because that was the only way I could keep an eye on him without being obvious. Since a few minutes had passed without either of us moving, I decided I was uncomfortable and would drive around the block a few times and come back. I noticed when I turned my car back on and started to back up it looked like he started moving towards me. I freaked out, floored it, and my phone went flying under my seat. So now I’m REALLY panicked because I don’t have immediate access to my phone to call for help if I need it. I also at that point was planning on just going back to my parents house but if they had locked the door behind me now I had no way to tell them it was ME ringing their doorbell at midnight. >_<
I got out to a different part of my neighborhood and tried searching for my phone, but it was gone. I couldn’t find it without a flashlight and….my phone is my flashlight. Thankfully my parents live close and I was able to get back quick and let them know what was going on. I ended up staying there for another hour or so and had my mom drive back with me.
I hope I’m just being paranoid, but the whole situation really spooked me. Maybe it was just a neighbor I don’t know who was just as scared as me….but since something bad had clearly just happened a few blocks away I didn’t feel like taking any chances. Ugh, and I e had trouble sleeping these past few nights. I left early to try and get to sleep sooner but now I’m all wound up. :( Sorry for the long post. I needed to write it all out somewhere to get it off my mind.
Last night an ambulance and fire truck came here and parked in the lot outside my bedroom. It's not unusual to see this because of the elderly people who live here, and kids. It's usually one of the two. Anyway, they were parked there for a long time and kept the lights on. The lights were getting into the room while I was trying to sleep. I normally sleep with my blanket over my head but I was hot last night. The lights were bothering me.
I recommend investing in a sleep mask.
I'm having a really bad day and 99% of it has been caused by my dad. :wail: He took the car in to have the windshield replaced because he thought the insurance company was taking to long. He then got mad when he went by an hour after the appointment time and it didn't look the shop had started to work on the car yet even though he got a text earlier that said it was "in work." He went in to talk to the guy working at the shop and he was on the phone and that made my dad madder. After we had been home for a little while my mom said that the insurance company was wanting more pictures sent. For some reason we can't send email from my mom's phone so I was going to ask if I could text the pictures to my dad's phone and then email them. He came out in to the hallway yelling about something so I decided to just figure out how to do it without his phone.
I wasn't feeling well this morning when I got up anyway and all of this with my dad hasn't made my day any easier. I know everyone gets mad sometimes I needed to post about this somewhere.
Also, I started a new medicine last week. One of the side effects is daytime grogginess. It's gotten a little better each time I take the medicine but it still leaves me in a fog that doesn't lift until at least mid morning the next day. :( I'm only supposed to take the new medicine as needed but I don't like how it takes so long for it to wear off.

BC are you able to invest in blackout curtains at all? I know they can be a big investment just for an occasional annoyance but they have been a godsend for me. I also find sleep masks uncomfortable, but I also get bothered by any amount of light coming into my room. I got tired of layering up blankets over my window and finally went ahead and booth them. I feel like I sleep so much better with them now! I have mine pulled up extra close to the wall so no stray lights get in.
They actually got my car done yesterday. It was a sensor that went out that caused the problems. It was a good thing because I also had 4 belts that needed to be replaced (apparently they were ALL cracked, which I'm not sure if it's normal for that to happen) but since they could have broken at any time, it was good that they got caught before. My complaint about it is that I currently work in the building where they service the city's vehicles and because it was a personal car, I couldn't even have the guys here, where I work, look at it. I know it's all rules and liability stuff but it was a bit ironic that I work in a car shop and had to take my car somewhere else to be fixed.
My computer has that graphic too. Today it's owls. I like owls, so I'm ok with it.
My cat is not well :( She hasn't eaten food (only treats) in two days and she feels hot. I know she's got a hairball and I've been giving her medicine for it so I'm hoping it's related to that and not something else. She's still drinking water and like I said, she'll eat treats. I wish she'd eat some real food.

Ponyfan, the stories about your dad make me so mad because he's just like my dad. When he picked me up yesterday to go to the house he ranted about 3 different things by the time we got there - it's only like 15 minutes away! He ranted about someone behind us that "came out of nowhere" then he ranted about a guy walking his dog, saying "he's out here from morning till night" then when we got to the house he accidentally ran over the grass parking the car. He had a fit and it's so dumb because why does he care so much? It's not even grass, it's weeds. It's not like the yard is really nice. It looks abandoned besides the plants my sister planted. And also my niece runs over the grass on the other side of the driveway and there's already tire marks. So whyyyyyyyyyyyyy does he care?!
When I was there last week, an A/C guy came out because my dad claims it's not working right. The guy told him there was nothing wrong with it and it was working fine and my dad told the guy to get out because there's OBVIOUSLY something wrong with the A/C and who is this schmuck trying to mess with his head. Then later he was trying to "fix it" himself.
Ever since his stroke he's been like this. No one talks about how strokes can change a person's personality. Both my parents changed. My mom got nicer and quieter and my dad is mean and upset all the time.
That is not what I wanted to complain about, but Ponyfan, I just want to shake your dad for you and tell him to stop being so difficult. You can shake my dad :P
I ran into a rotten piece of work today. I was just minding my own business and some crazy lady was screaming slurs in the parking lot like an automatic weapon. I got called multiple names just for walking by. Freaking psycho.
Update on Mouse - She's much better! I won't be taking her to the vet. She had a big poo last night and ate half a can of food this morning plus treats. She looks better too, her eyes are clear and bright again. Plus, she woke me up today and tried to bite me :lol: She hasn't done that in a week. I'll keep my eye on her and continue to monitor her food intake and watch the litter box, but I think her hairball is gone finally.
All weekend long these two kids, must be siblings, have been outside most of the day and they argue at the top of their lungs. Or literally scream. I was trying to take a nap yesterday and they were in the parking lot behind my bedroom and I couldn't take the screaming. Then when I was back in the living room, they came out to the street with a basketball and were arguing over that. I've never seen them before either. They just moved in or are visiting. What I don't understand is that the parent/s let them scream like that. When I was a kid, if my friends and I were literally screaming (though I don't think we ever did that) an adult, one of our parents, would come outside and tell us to be more quiet.
Are they close enough you can throw water balloons at them next time? :devious: In all seriousness, though, is there an apartment manager you can complain to? If the parents get formal complaints about the kids, they're more likely to do something about their disruptive behavior. And if they target you for complaining, that's harassment and can be moved to an actual police complaint.
My complaint is that I still work with people who don't understand how the alphabet works. L comes after W in today's version.

Anyone else hate the smell of freshly cut grass? I came out of the the shower to notice that the lawn in front of my apartment was being mowed. I had a window open and now my whole apartment stinks and is making me nauseous.

well a lot of neighborhoods in the USA have HOAs that require a certain type of grass. and require you to keep it green in parts of the country where water shortages are an issue. you're literally not allowed to install more sensible landscaping that doesn't require much water or any watering. also fertilizers and pesticides, emissions from lawn mowers are terrible for the environment. i would like it if people could have more natural landscaping. or xeriscape lawns. also more planting food, community gardens.
we definitely don't need more pavement in Texas. i just want more walkable places with mass transit.

Feeling incredibly unwanted and unappreciated. I think the utter heartbreak of a close friendship of over 15 years still really, REALLY hurts me. She never talks to me anymore, never messages unless I message first, and before we used to talk every single day at the same time. It just hurts
The air conditioning went out. :hot: :hot: It's 94 F outside and 76 F inside. Someone is supposed to come out later today to fix it but it's going to be uncomfortable inside for a few hours.

Not a complaint but I know a lot of people have been following the air conditioning saga. We finally got air conditioning back on Friday night. 9 days of no air conditioning in brutal summer heat was horrible.

My sinus' feel like they're stuffed with rotten cheese :drunk: I have bad sinus drainage and it's in the family, so I think COVID-19 got in there and got trapped. It's too hot to really do steam things, I'll have a bath later when it's cooler and hopefully that will get the gunk moving again

Try a sinus rinse? I have a deviated septum and bad allergies and started doing saline rinses years ago. They help so much. If you've never done it before it can take some practice to hold your head the correct way and it will probably burn a bit. Also, when you first start you'll have more mucus for a couple of days but that's just a defense reaction, If you keep doing it that will go away and so will the burning. I do two rinses a day unless I am having a bad allergy attack, then I do it every hour or so until everything is clear.
I have a massive headache verging on a migraine this morning. I'm nauseous and sensitive to the light. I'm supposed to go visit my mom today. I know she's looking forward to it so I'd rather not cancel but omg my head :dizzy:
Why are there so many grasshoppers? Where are those fabled seagulls when you need them? Though if the seagulls did show up to eat the grasshoppers we have, they'd end up too fat to fly away. I've been dusting my mom's plants and the grapevine with flour to see if it helps anything but there are so many of the bugs that even if it is killing some of them off, you wouldn't be able to tell.
I've not done a proper one before, I DO have a spray though? It's just seawater with a little aloe, I got it last summer when the air was so dry my sinus' were angry, it does help a little for a while, I'll need to get a proper sinus rinse system
Neighborhood kids have started a new "fun" game. They keep ringing my doorbell and then run away. They don't do this to others in this hallway and I have a sticker on my door mentioning there are pets in the apartment. Imagine if I had a dog who goes crazy when someone is at the door.. Luckily just two cats who seem mildly annoyed about it. They have woken me up 3 days in a row now which is especially annoying due to insomnia. I don't know who's kids they exactly are or where they live since this is an apartment complex.
I know I'm being a little oversensitive about everything, but I feel really pushed aside and unimportant right now. :wail:

Its too hot. I can't get much sleep. I'm depressed, tired, snappish, and overly sensitive. I have cabin . My family is driving me up the wall with bickering, nonsensical demands, and being super petty. (Yes, I'm part of the problem.)
I'm seriously considering risking heat stroke to walk around town in triple digit weather, just to get away for a few blessed hours.
Parents who conveniently 'forget' family agreed rules about things like mask wearing when contractors come around to replace taps/do other work, despite the conversation we had about masks and contractors, which made it clear that yes, masks are still required.
I am so angry with them about this. I went out this morning, and the guy (who I knew was coming) was here when I came back. Neither he nor they were wearing masks.
It feels like they went behind my back, although my mother is making her usual excuse of 'I thought it was fine, and we didn't know what to do'.
If you don't know, mother, wear the mask. Covid is around still and YOU ARE IMMUNOCOMPROMISED.

Thanks, guys. I love my mother, but she's the queen of convenient misremembering in situations like this.
When my sister was home a couple of weeks back we had an actual family meeting specifically about masks and discussed how we were going to play it through the summer. Contractors coming over never came up in this conversation, as it was about other things. THe last time we had a contractor, though, I pointed out the mask thing. Mother made a big fuss about it, saying it was silly, I was overreacting, giving me all the grief over it. When the contractor called, Dad took the call. He just asked about the mask and the guy said he intended to wear one anyway. Literally no drama, except in Mum's head.
That's why this time angered me so much. That last incident was not so very long ago, and it was so very clear that situation had not changed. When Mum is there saying, 'we talked about it but we didn't know what to do', I told her straight that she was talking nonsense. She knows full well, she just doesn't like to 'make other people feel awkward.'
I hope it will be ok, but contractors go around people's houses. Dad is on a lot of meds for various things right now, and as I said, mum has blood cancer so is immunocompromised. And she is constantly on the 'we don't need to do x y z' now as if covid has gone, even though it hasn't.
I get she's fed up. We're all fed up. We're all doing this to protect her, though. I wore a mask out on that same day, even though I don't really like wearing them, and feel hugely uncomfortable now being stared at by people. But she couldn't even be bothered to protect herself. I've also given up 2 years of my life, and absolutely every piece of the independence I spent 10 years building to keep her and Dad safe through the pandemic. I'm sick of having to be the reminder person, I'm sick of being whined at for having to be it, because its her safety that's really at stake at the end of the day.
It's not my fault covid happened, it's not my fault her immune system sucks, it's not my fault that the world has changed. It's not her fault, either, but taking it out on me isn't going to change any of the existing parameters. She should be glad her daughters love her enough to make the effort, instead of trying to make out we're fussy idiots who don't understand. Just I'm the one that has to live with it. Naynie's is mostly over phone.
(THis is the same woman who was told separately by a doctor and a hospital matron to listen to her daughters, after a couple of bouts of pneumonia years ago. It's also the woman who didn't go to hospital when she was bleeding internally because she thought it was making a fuss, and tried to pretend to my sister she wasn't running a 39 degree fever because it was too much trouble to bother the doctor on a sunday night.
I rest my case).

I bought compression socks that go up to the knee (not over it) because I spend so much time sitting at my desk. My legs have really been bothering me and my feet get swollen throughout the day. So I put the socks on, which was hard to do, and wore them for most of the day. But where the top of the socks are, I had severe edema. When I took them off, my feet weren't swollen and my legs felt better, but then I had the edema in my thighs and the top part of the socks left red marks that didn't go away for hours. I bought the largest size they had, but obviously I need bigger ones.I hate top-of-sock rings!!! Swollen feet are also unpleasant!!! Like, I want to wear these nice TS Socks, but they aren't made for legs with either muscle or fat in them, let alone both. Sock-makers, please account for those of us with bigger legs!!!
I'm just disappointed because they work, they're just too small and I don't think I can return them.

The company I work for recently increased wages by a pittance due to pressure from the union to keep up with inflation.
The catch? To be able to afford these higher wages they’re ‘restructuring’ work hours to reduce the amount of penalty hours paid to staff.
The result: I’ll be making less money a month than before they increased wages.
(This company is in the top 5 largest in my country, no small fry - just a soulless CEO that owes staff millions in stolen wages).
I need to vent -_-

Ew. I wonder what would happen if all the staff decided to do minimum work for minimum pay. Crappy quality work costs companies more than quality work so if you all get on board with doing the bare requirements of the job maybe that will send them a message. Or if enough of you walk away to new jobs (especially a competitor) that might get the point across.
They have different kinds. I think the one I was looking at is called Rhapsody. It has cool gel in it and a firm foam layer for extra support. I think the original is just foam and those do wear out quickly.
My dad was complaining again today that we need to organize our movies. We've tried to discuss it before, but he doesn't like the categories that I suggest or listen when I tell him that most of the movies are already sorted in to themes (Disney, TV series etc...) Then he said we need to get rid of the VHS tapes that we've replaced with DVD copies. I was sorting through movies to do that months ago and one day he decided to clean up stuff and said "I put all of those movies back on the shelves." I haven't resorted them yet. He complains about not having enough space for movies but then I try to open up space he erases all of the work I did. :( On top of that he also decided to move some VHS tapes but some of the ones he took out we don't have DVD copies of yet. He was also saying that he couldn't find another movie but it was a movie that he put away and then couldn't remember where he put it. I can remember where most of the movies are but I try not to bother his movies. I know it shouldn't frustrate me so much, but I don't see how we're going to agree when we just go in circles about this. :argh: :argh:
Beth, I hope your missing package shows up or if it doesn't you can get a replacement.
