Title: How can I identify an original ribbon?
Post by: BlackCurtains on September 19, 2020, 02:39:40 PM
I found a ribbon in a small baggie that was among my craft stuff. I've no memory of it. I put ribbons on all my ponies, whatever looks best. I don't *think* I have any originals besides Nibbles. I remember a thread with someone doing measurements and things for them but I can't find it.

The ribbon is bright orange, single faced satin with the ends cut at an angle. It's 13 inches long. Seems too long, maybe? And how many ponies came with orange ribbons anyway. It may have come from a custom but I think it'd be on the pony and not in a baggie. I'm stumped!

There's an accessory site with pictures of ribbons but I can't remember that either. Your thoughts? Do you have the link to the site I'm thinking of?

I think Chrissytree probably has the ribbons on her site, I also remember other discussions about ribbons in the past but I can't remember whether there were other links. Here's her site link anyway.

The ribbon in question sounds too long to be mlp in my opinion, I am just trying to remember colour/size for the hair salon, as I know it had some odd ones.

Thank you. That is exactly the site I was thinking of.

Not sure if this is the thread you were thinking of but I hope it helps!

It has been my experience with g1 ribbons that the satin seems to be double-sided, where most ribbon you buy at the craft store only has one shiny side and seems lighter weight than original ribbons. I think they are shorter than that, too, but I'm no expert.

Yes, that's the thread! Gosh, I suck at searching for stuff.

Anyway, an update: It either came from a custom pony or I cut it myself for reasons. The weird thing is, I looked through my ribbon and while I have orange, it doesn't match. So... ??? It will remain a mystery.

But thanks for the links and info!
