My coworker found a purple stapler at Office Depot and bought it for me just because. Seeing that bright purple stapler sitting on my desk really makes me smile. How thoughtful of your friend!
It's an Asian street food. It's kinda like waffle/cake batter cooked in a special griddle pan. There are a bunch of puffs all connected... Like bubble wrap! So it's a little bit crispy, and puffy.
I'm on my cell so I can't link a pic, but Google it! I think it might also be called bubble waffle.
We had a screech owl nearby I called, and they called back. I have not heard one on ages, that was thrilling. How cool that they called back!

Went to see a movie yesterday at my former workplace and was told I was missed a lot. One girl said she thinks of me every shift she has. I'm not sure if she was serious or not but I'm still smiling and filled with warm fuzzies today.
A sparrow at work whom I thought was deaf, was actually taking notes on how I whistle, and now mimics me perfectly. I find it kinda endearing in a sweet sort of way.
I made an A on my piano exam!
I just interviewed a new hire that sounds promising. that is enough to make me happy, as I'm losing two employees after the holidays. but the real kicker is his name.
his name is Alucard.
his last name is just as extra, but it's so specific that I couldn't share it in good conscience haha
I'm going Christmas shopping today and it's snowing :frolic:
Edit: It's still snowing several hours later, and it's making me so indescribably happy I need to say it twice :frolic: :frolic: :frolic:
I got to see the sparrows at work, all fluffed up, they look like little puff balls, and they call to me as well.
Congratulations Harmonie. :) Such a great achievement!
Three weeks ago I had a head x-ray and, well I got the results yesterday but it hadn't really sunk in until this morning. My brain is healthy! No tumour, no broken vessels, nothing. Perfectly fine and normal. No more sleepless nights of planning phonecalls with bad news, planning my funeral and whatnot. I am not gonna die or have a surgery! Best christmas present ever!
I still don't know what is causing my headache and the doctor is gonna go over it all and talk to me about the next step. But at least I'm gonna live!

Beldarna - wonderful news!!
re: headaches - could it be something environmental, releasing chemicals that make you feel bad? For example - a new carpet? Sofa? Painted walls? Deodorant spray?
I guess this is kind of a mean thing to smile about, but a very unpopular Norwegian politician lost her job today because she said something extremely rude and tactless (again). I'm just grateful for living in a country where tactless politicians lose their job, rather than one where they become president...
I had a co worker ask if I collect my little ponies, their kid is tired of them and had four years worth in various sizes. Here are hoping there are good ones. You can have some of my pony luck! I hope you get some great ponies :D
There was a report on the news today that said "Scientists have found that goats are drawn to people with happy faces." 'Nuff said.

My friend has asked me to be the narrator for his video game project, I feel super honoured :DCongrats! :iconclap:
Today (or rather yesterday) a good thing happened to me: this really nice guy I met at my friend's wedding asked me out on a date. He seems like a really great person and was so nice to the kids in the wedding party, and can play the guitar. I'm looking forward to it :)
My friend has asked me to be the narrator for his video game project, I feel super honoured :D
Congrats! :iconclap:
Saw the new trailer for Toy Story 4, too funny where the spork said he's not a toy.
Well done on your placements, SS!
Today I was driving along a country road when I saw two ladies riding their horses, I so rarely do I see riders these days, anyway, I had to stop my car to let them cross the road safely - gave me good feelings as I remembered when I used to go hacking in my childhood!Aww, it's nice to get that nostalgic feeling when you see something that reminds you of your child hood lol
I got given a little apple pie at work today! Yums! :D
Way to go, Fluttershy_Spike! I had that myself a couple of years ago, I know how you feel! *hugs* I hope its all better soon :)
(Technically I found this out yesterday but-) My friend told me that Sentai Filmworks has an anime sale going on. I bought a bunch of super expensive anime series (think between $49.99 and $79.99) that I've been wanting but were too expensive to justify the cost for $4.99-6.99. :) Their free shipping starts at $75 and I was afraid I wouldn't manage to find enough to get that, but I did. I ended up with 16 series for $89.Nothing like a good sale on anime! :D
My 3-yr-old nephew got a finger-sized skateboard in his stocking and he put it on the floor and tried to sit on it and ride it around the room.
If everything goes well, soon I'm going to get myself a brand new Audio-Technica LP120 record player! :yippee:
I overheard a snatch of conversation earlier, a couple of guys going "I was just saying what a beautiful evening it is"
"Yeah, it's really nice tonight."
Which might not seem significant, but it's genuinely refreshing to hear a civilised conversation going on, rather than the usual soundtrack to Macclesfield, which is drunk people threatening to knock the living daylights out of each other, or screaming chavs.
Fingers crossed for you! I just got that exact turntable for my birthday and it works like an absolute dream! :DYeah, I can't wait until I finally don't have to play my records on this Chinese all-in-one piece of junk :D
I sat on the toiltet and my husband came in with his minisynth and started playing on it.. First time ever I got to pee to live music  Afterwards we stood in the hallway and played together on it. It was fun, I love jamming with him but it happens so rarely.
I have a purring cat on my lap and can only write with one hand :heart:yes, that is perfect and even if is makes one work slower, it is totaly worth it!
The fact that the new Pokemon's setting is based off of England. It was my first choice out of what was likely.I am not sure if it is England or all of Britain. Though it does look like an upsidedown map, it kind of looks like England and Wales and no Scotland to me...whoops xD.
Birds, birds, so many birds! I don't need my mp3-player anymore when I go for a walk in the morning, I have this massive bird concert now. Spring is coming! :D
I've been feeling really good within myself lately. I've been doing lots of exercise, aqua aerobics and clubasize to help me drop a dress size for my holiday in July. I've felt it was time for a change as I've always felt awkward wearing swimsuits and sleeveless clothes on holiday due to how my body looked and how I felt on the inside about it. So I've given myself a kick in the butt and began turning my life around and getting fit. I've honestly been feeling a lot more energised and happier lately :D
I've started to learn hiragana, and I feel like I've made some actual progress since I've memorized five rows!
I will :DI've started to learn hiragana, and I feel like I've made some actual progress since I've memorized five rows!
がんばって!!!
I feel like a very long week has finally come to an end. And I survived it.
Soon be holiday time...this year has gone so quickly!
Sitting here eating breakfast. I look up and wonder why there is a horse in my neighbor’s back yard. It’s a deer, eating from their bird feeders!
I got my welding certification card today, which means I'm officially able to work on public buildings/things on public property! So excited <3Congrats Dakota!
I nipped into a couple of charity shops today on my way into town, and found this cute little clock for £2.50! I love how it kind of looks like it's levitating when you see it from across the room. :D

Kid on the bus this morning on seeing a building site where a building had been demolished:
"Maybe they didn't like that building, so now they're going to make a new one."
On being on the top deck of a bus.
"Daddy, is this bus taller than the houses?"
Also having Monday off work is a plus - gotta love Bank Holidays! :biggrin:This made me happy too this Monday, even though I'm not in the UK - I wasn't aware, and I was expecting to come back to a long Monday spent with firefighting my super-speedy and messy UK project, and to have no time to look through my 1.5-week pile of e-mails as a result. In reality, all the UK peeps were off, so I was able to check all my e-mails properly, as well as progess with my other project with my Italian team :)
The new Cranberries album, I love it so, SO much. Although smiling isn't quite the right word... Yes, it does bring a smile to my face, but it's accompanied by many tears. :cloud:
Glad you finally got it!!
The weather is really nice down here as well!
The boot sale was quite busy also. Didn't find many ponies but picked up a couple.
One was from a young girl being watched over protectively by her big sister. I picked up a bag in which there were a couple of pony things and she looked at me and said, very importantly, "that's 50p!"
So of course I bought it xD. She was only about four I think. She seemed very proud to be the stallholder xD.

Man, I love booting :D
I went to Stoke-on-Trent today and the Canadian geese there are so friendly! A whole troop of them came walking over to me and were looking up at me, presumably expecting food. I didn't have anything to give to them, so I talked to them for a bit instead, which didn't seem to impress them much. Still, it was nice to be popular with the geese for a bit.
I also tried some Jamaican ginger and sorrel juice and wow, why is not more of a thing in England? It's delicious!
*Heard my babies heart beat for the first time this week! (it's so fast  but apparently that is good ^.^)
...
Was a nice change to the beginning of the week... shopping for Maternity clothes (in the rain too) is not fun.
It's cloudy and rainy and cold outside
"♫ Calling, calling, calling to you all day... ♪" :green:
Oh, and I'm also eating dried cranberries right now. They taste so good. :P
I got pretty boots and they fit! :D Usually I can't wear boots because of my huge calves ( :pout: ) but these actually fit! Of course, being wider than other boots, I totally have stone columns in them instead of legs, but I don't even care. XD
In light of the rest of your post, that sounds a little bit sinister xd.
Or maybe that's just my sense of humour...?
Yay!! I'm happy for you! I totally can relate to this. I have larger than normal calves too, and season after season, still haven't found pretty boots to wear.. >_<
So today I was at the bus stop waiting for a bus.No, Beldarna, it's not a bus story! It's in the happy thread. It can't possibly be!
So anyway, I'm waiting, and this visually impaired guy is coming along the street with his stick.
He's quite a way from the bus stop at this point, and near the road crossing. There's a lot of roadworks by me at the moment and the traffic was all backed up, and I was half afraid he was going to walk out in the middle of the road because all the signs and stuff that had been put up on the pavement were obviously confusing him.
So there's a delivery driver at the store near the crossing. He's doing his delivery, and the next thing I know, This driver comes racing across from his van, goes up to this guy, speaks to him, takes his arm and gently helps him to the crossing and then across the road safely. Then he hares back, the guy continues his journey and the store gets its delivery.
It all happened just in a split second but it made me smile.
Some people are just awesome.
My brother near enough picked up bird poo thinking it was mud.
I was thinking on some of the ways that my life can be complicated or difficult because of my autism. At first, I was feeling kind of down. Then I reminded myself that my autism has given me some pretty epic perks. My personality and interests have not really changed since I was 7 or 8 years old... I’m now 27. XD I’ve become wiser, and more mature in a lot of ways, and I’ve gained new interests in addition to the old, but my overall character is the same. I still enjoy playing with my ponies, dolls, and such, even all these years into adulthood... That’s really the best gift I could ever ask for. :)
So after the long long delay in getting home yesterday, I came home and found this on my windowsill.

So to explain this...
For father's day, I got my Dad this father's day card.

This was his response.
Apparently it's name is Tuppence. For reasons.
Well played, father.
Halle Bailey will play Ariel in Disney's live-action remake of The Little Mermaid. I don't like the remakes but it makes me smile because I listen to that Warrior song from A Wrinkle in Time so much. It's one of my favorite songs. I want to hear her sing Part of Your World
I was brushing one of the cats on the kitchenfloor and said to him that I soon will have a fourth cat, with all the fur coming loose from him. He answered by getting up and walking to the bodyscale and sit on it so I asked if he thought he had lost some weight will all the fur coming off and went to see but then he walked off of it, not letting me see. I couldn't help but laugh, it was such a human thing to do.
(I can't really answer why we have a body scale on the kitchenfloor, it's where it ended up somehow.)
Listening to a group called Nova Era on my way to work this morning. They take classical music and "pop" it up. When I saw them perform at Downtown Disney (now Disney Springs) they were dressed in 17th Century FOP costumes. It was highly entertaining.

This. This made me smile :) I talk to my dog too, all the time. I think people talking to animals like they understand us are awesome (because who knows - maybe they do!),

That was really good, I love the concept. Too bad they're not on any streamingsites, I would start to listen in a heartbeat.

If you go to their website https://www.novaeramusic.com/ you can order a USB with all their music on it for $25 + shipping. I don't know how much that translates into in your currency but there was nothing on their store site saying that they don't ship worldwide. You could always message them through their "Contact Us" link and ask, though. It looks like they take PayPal.
One of my friends/neighbours/ex-coworkers asked if I could water her plants while she's off on holliday and I said yes because I've done it before and it's not a gruesome task, it's quite enjoyable to go over there and look at her plants. She came sunday evening and dropped off her keys, keeping a good poker face I must say.. because this evening I got to her apartment and on her dining table were two potted plants and a note that said they were for me . She wrote that she had planted one of them for me early this spring and she had made research to make sure they weren't poisonous for cats.. I am not used to people doing this for me, rather the opposite. I am so often forgotten and overlooked that I broke down in tears.. I'm still smiling. Such a sweet thing

Today is the first normal day after the heatwave. :D :frolic: I'm enjoying this so much! The curtains are open, we are drinking coffee on the couch, we can eat normal food, we are wearing normal clothes, there's no noisy fan on the table, no excessive showering, no feeling of crisis... YES!
Happy birthday for yesterday!
Weather cooler today.
Got my phd formally signed in.
And finally got to hang out with my former flatmate. We also videochatted with our other friend who is working in Mumbai.
So tired now, as last night was so hot it was hard to sleep, and the trains are a mess... but worth it anyway.
I made my first job application today using the title "Dr" :)

I like it when temperature suddenly drops in September and you can make yourself a hot tea late in the evening and stand with it by an open window and inhale the cold, rainy air outside.
I went to Burger King and happened to be wearing my Ponies Forever T-shirt The general manager gave me an MLP Burger King toy just because I was wearing my pony shirt. :D

I was kind of annoyed to learn that they had made yet another Terminator movie, but after reading the synopsis it actually sounds much better than I thought :good:
It was far better than the crap they've let loose earlierThat's exactly what I meant by "better than I thought" :silly:

I wish they would do that in the M&S near my parents' home. Where I lived before that was the norm because of how busy they were, as all the checkouts AND the self service would be busy. Here when it gets busy...it's just mayhem.
I have to choose between catching the bus (since here has hardly any) or buying stuff sometimes.
But I should end this on a happy note.
I have finally managed to get back to reading proper fiction books in English after four years of basically reading nothing but academic texts (half in Japanese). Yay me. :D
The love Floor Jansen finally gets in this country. :D She has been part of a TV show this year, and suddenly people are discovering Nightwish and Floor's other music. For the first time ever there are two Nightwish songs in the big annual Top 2000 (Ghost Love Score (live) and Élan), plus Floor's version of The Phantom Of The Opera, live with Henk Poort. And the best part? People are going crazy over it! So many loving comments, from long time fans and new fans! Better late than never, huh? :D
We stayed up until 04:30 to hear Ghost Love Score last night (the Top 2000 is a 24-7 thing), magical! :hearts:
I think it's pretty fantastic :). There is a lovley girl on youtube who translated Beste Zangers so we outside of Netherlands could follow it and she also translated talkshows and interviews afterwards and it's amazing to follow Floors success. I loved especially how reporters are question how she feel to have sold out the big arenas and ask how it's gonna feel to sing infront of 17 000 people and she's like.. well.. "That's what I usually do". They have no idea how big she is in the world of metal.
The supermarket was open and everything was fairly normal inside. However I had to go through a temperature check station before they would let me into the building.

I hope to leave before they decide to shut down all the airports. I would of bolted already but I sent the application in the renew my residency two weeks ago along with my passport. With the holiday, that office has been closed all week. >.<
I got home from work today to find a parcel propped up against my door in the entryway - The Lion King was in there! Might not seem particularly thrilling but it's a Japanese laserdisc edition with really beautiful artwork on the sleeve. Now I just need a laserdisc player!
Was sorting some boxes today and found a birthday card my parents gave to me...when I turned 1 year old.
It's my birthday this weekend, so the timing of that was beautiful and ironic.
Also found a MLP radio that I didn't know I still had. For some reason it wasn't with the rest of the merch but in a random box. I'm not sure if I'm brave enough to now test it though.
And found some really old stuff from when I was little that I remembered treasuring as a kid. Including my stacking cups. I was the weird child who did not sleep with a teddy bear. I slept in my crib with my stacking cups.

A few days ago I had to catch someones husky puppy at work, their van door blew open and they got out. I just crouched down and said hello girl, and she ran right up to me and was trilled to see me.Aww, that would have made me smile too! Puppies usually have that effect ^.^

Enjoyed a weekend staying at home in the warm, sunny weather.
Whilst tidying the garage today, I found a box of old seed packets from a few years ago.
I didn't want to throw them away (especially as garden centres are currently on lock-down), so I got some trays and planted them!
Now, let's see if they will germinate!
They include cosmos and bright yellow marigolds (I prefer this colour to the usual orange-yellow) worth a try, no?
Seeds can (in the right conditions) survive for years/decades before being planted. Water is needed for the germination process to begin, and the seeds can survive freezing in cold climates and the stomach juices of animals before landing in a good spot. The cool, dark and dry climate of a garage or shed it probably what helped them stay viable. It is because of this resilience that projects such as seed banks are possible, and how some 2000 year old preserved seeds have been successfully grown today.Enjoyed a weekend staying at home in the warm, sunny weather.

I think they will probably grow! Seed packets do have dates on them but they're not always actual expiry dates. I remember once having a pack of seeds that had 1996 as the expiry date. We planted them in around 2005 and they grew beautifully. Plants are a great inspiration in how to survive no matter what.
Finally my seeds arrived, along with three bare root astilbe which I would normally have potted on but they had so much growth already I just put them right in the garden and let them get on with it.

Yay for seed deliveries!
I ordered some extra seeds off the Thompson & Morgan site and await my buffalosteak tomatoes, lovage (amazing herb to use in soups) and lettuce. What a mission - so many online stores have sold out.
Also found packets of basil, dill and thyme seeds that I bought from Lidl last month, slipped down amongst a box potatoes, so I'll get my kid to sow those tomorrow.
I have my bags of compost ready & waiting to service my temporary flower and veggie farm this summer!

Repairing a couple of ornaments has given me a bit of a boost today, the first being a delightfully chunky orange horse who had a busted leg when I got him. I figured that if anyone else were to see that, the poor thing would end up in the bin, even though it's an immensely easy repair, so his leg is back in one piece now. The other ornament is my minotaur, whose fingers ended up being snapped while I was taking his axe out of his hands in order to dust him properly - something startled me, I jumped while the axe was still partly in one hand and that didn't end well. I was gutted when it happened, even though it was an accident and I was being really careful, sometime these things just happen. His fingers have been reattached now and unless you inspect him closely, then you'd never know his hand had been damaged at all. I may leave his axe alone and just dust around it in future, though, to be on the safe side.Good work & love that orange horse!!!

WE HAVE EGGS!
I have anxiety over phone calls. I’m not sure exactly what it is, but they always make me nervous. But today I had to make a call to the USPS due to a package I ordered (containing a very special grail of mine) from a lovely person in Virginia. I haven’t gotten updates on the tracking in a month, so that’s why I was calling.I myself hate most phone calls & don't answer my phone. I only called cause of complaints thread post, but it was a great call & made me feel better somehow.
The call went good, and I learnt that the USPS is behind by about a month or two due to covid-19 and a lack of people able to work. I understand all that, and am just happy to know it isn’t lost. It’s in a warehouse somewhere waiting to be sorted.
The part that made me smile was Miss. Debbie (the lady I spoke to) was super nice, and I made a phone call all on my own! Which for me is an accomplishment since I’ll just use the email service if I can.

Well done you on making that call & well done lady on the other end being nice & helpful!!! That makes a huge difference these days!!!
I saw a tortoise crossing the road. :D

A tortoise! So cool!Lol brilliant!!!
Our local lakes have baby moorhens...goslings and ducklings. One of the little moorhen chicks sassed Dad and I tge other day. Tiny little featherball trying to play tough. Moorhens are such funny little birds.
The geese are also so good crossing the road safely, even with the babies. All the traffic stops for them.
Also as for what made me smile today...

Had a shot at online groceries... & Tesco had a slot!!! For tomorrow night!!! Literally the only one they had, but I'm not silly. I nabbed it!!! Sorted for another two weeks
If anybody got this it would be you!!! Been hitting the Co-op mostly as I figured Tesco would be run ragged by everybody who couldn't go outside. But as things are starting to ease up I thought I'd have a go.Had a shot at online groceries... & Tesco had a slot!!! For tomorrow night!!! Literally the only one they had, but I'm not silly. Congratulations!
I understand the true triumph of this achievement.
We have a Tesco slot for Friday. Parents trying to work out how to keep their order down to 80 items.
So happy they have finally got the hang of this but having Mum's priority slot helps a lot.

Oooh, I love moorhens. :D
Oooh, those baby geese and the moorhen are adorable!
As for the other thing that made me smile today, I got back on the horse with speaking French. I don't have any particular practical applications for that skill in mind right now, but it's something constructive to keep my mind sharp, and you never know when it might come in handy. Even if it's just something as simple as asking for a croissant and getting one of those looks for catastrophically mispronouncing it.

I have recently gone back to learning French also. I feel that I am still at a very basic level but I can read some French. I have the extended Miraculous Ladybug theme song in French on my iPod and I can still only understand “black butterfly,” “I am a cat/Cat Noir”, and “Adrien”

I went out and saw them again today, little cheepy fuzzballs. And the goslings. We have three broods, which is unusual, though one is really small. I love living here when I see things like that, and it was so quiet out this morning, which means that everyone's got in the car and driven somewhere for a change now that they're allowed to...
Some pictures!
Two of the Canada Geese families...and the last one is a baby moorhen ;)
This turned up on my Tumblr dashboard and it gave me a good laugh. Oh, how many times I have had to deal with this situation!I love things like this; so apt!!! I bought my G3 Bee Bop six years ago. She's one of my first used ponies after pause of collecting. All of this time she has dry hair and fizzy tinsel. Recently I bought new iron what good for fix problems like this. Today I restored Bee Bop's hair. She looks so pretty!
EVERYTHING. My life has taken a weeeiiird turn...
Something else: I thought of Taffeta today, because the moorhen statue I ordered a while ago arrived today! Now we have moorhen on our balcony. :P

I was reading up on how to conjugate French verbs and this was the example for how to use 'aller' in a sentence. It really cracked me up, in an "alright for some, isn't it?!" kind of a way. :D

Sorry for the double post, but I have something to smile about! As of today, after 45 years, my father is officially a Dutch citizen! :D
Of course it could have been done earlier, but it's A LOT of hassle, and it's expensive. However, with the Brexit it became vital that they couldn't send him back to England, even after 45 years it could still happen. But now he's legally Dutch, and there will be no more stressful situations with residence permits! :beerchug:
He will always be an English-/Irishman at heart though. :P
Kind of a silly one, but I've been playing a lot of Animal Crossing lately and I found Marina on one of the islands so she's now officially living on my island! I've never had an octopus villager before and she is so PINK :biggrin:I remember when I was little and started with wild world, she was a villager I had in my town for a time! She’s one of my favourites!

I helped someone on Etsy by telling them that someone on eBay.uk are using their pictures trying to sell two ponies.
Just learned that one is my best friends is having baby number 2! She tried so hard for 4 years for the first, but this one came as a surprise ^.^
We have an old doe that has lived on our driveway for... ever, it seems. Each year she raises a set of twin fawns. I hadn't seen her all year, but yesterday evening I took a walk and guess who I saw? Sure enough, she had two little babies with her. They're just now losing their spots. So cute!!
I finally got my unemployment! Finally I feel a little bit financially secure.A weight off your mind!

Glad you had a good lunch though.
Anyway, what made me smile was a successful experiment making a microwave, eggless cake mix by myself out of raw ingredients, & the first lot tasted very good!!!

I also finally managed to draw something halfway decent, despite the persistent anxiety that's been throwing a spanner in the works of practically everything I'd tried to do lately. Victory! Now I just have to get back into the habit of drawing on a regular (ideally daily) basis.

I got an invitation to a job interview for tomorrow! It's a bit short notice, but considering that I missed the initial e-mail because it went to my junk folder, it was very good of the folks at the office to be so understanding and accomodating when I called them to explain the situation. :frolic:

My friend has learnt about Australian foods like fairy bread and lamingtons. She is in the process of loosing her mind at the concept of white bread with butter and sprinkles on it. I never thought it was weird but it’s funny to watch her try to comprehend some of this.Well I grew up wi bread, butter & sugar as a simple sweet treat, so for me it's just adding a little food dye to the sugar... I think I'd prefer the chocolate sprinkles or vermicelli though...

I helped a tortoise cross a busy road. You always put them in the direction they are heading, this guy was just off the median toward some mangroves.Oh that’s so sweet! I’m smiling just thinking about it!
I'm glad most people are understanding when you stop traffic to pick up a reptile. It happens a lot here!

I used to help baby frogs because they'd get killed so easily by traffic and stuff. I'd see them on the walk to school. They're so cute...
My smile thing today is realising that yes, Sunset Shimmer can wear a mask too xD. I was overdue a new avatar...
And Taffeta, LOVING your new avatar!!!
While sorting through donations today, I encountered a wig with a bright yellow bra attached to it. Stay classy, Macclesfield.

What made me smile today was having a bat about on Resident Evil 4, although it did made me feel old, as the last time I played it was way back in secondary school, on that mysterious ancient relic known as the Gamecube (ah, memories.) I still find the combat quite challenging, but my philosophy is that thoughtful inventory and resource management is the true path to success.
I will continue to tell myself that until Leon is summarily trousered by angry Ganados. ;)
A comedy sketch from an Irish TV show, about songs being taken literally, completely made my day today. It's easily one of the funniest things I've seen in ages but I can't link to it because it's got a lot of adult humour in it. One of the best ones was Wonderwall, where two blokes were gazing in sheer amazement at a plain grey wall, and one of them was on his phone going "You've got to get down here and look at this brickwork!"
Its my birthday. ^.^

You know I often wish that someone would do a comedy sketch where they literally reenacted the things they say on the football commentary. Like, "he's taken his legs!" and "he's a poacher in the box!" and...there's so much nonsense I think it'd be brilliant.
Your example made me think of it :)
Its my birthday. ^.^
Happy birthday, tikibirds!!
I have been reading some really great fanfiction based on an anime that I love. The author has stated that they watch the episodes as they write and it really shows how close they’ve tried to stay to cannon while making the story their own and not simply repeating everything that happens in the anime. There’s been a few times that I haven’t agreed with how a character acts or responds to things in their story but most of the time their characterizations are very true to the anime.

French accent: "Listen vewy carefully, I shall say zis only once..."Good moaning!!! (though it's actually afternoon).
There is an 80s / 90s UK BBC comedy show called 'Allo 'Allo, it is a farce-style comedy about WW2 occupied France and the japes that the French Resistance gets up to and the complex friendships with the German occupiers.
Anyway, there is a long-running joke about a valuable old painting that everyone wants to have, to sell after the war to make their fortune, with all the crazy sagas involved with the different parties trying to steal it.
Guess what? The company who provide the props for the stage-production of 'Allo 'Allo are selling copies of this painting, printed on to canvas!
Anyway, I now own a copy of "The Fallen Madonna with the Big Boobies by Van Clomp" and had fun yesterday searching out a classic swept frame to display it in.
It shall have pride of place hanging in my bathroom/toilet (something quirky that will start a conversation when guests see it!)

I’ve never had a heated blanket before. Costco had them cheap, so I decided to take a gamble, and I’m in love with it! It’s so cozy, it kind of feels like when you take a blanket out of the dryer, but with this it stays warm. Only problem is it makes me sleepy.

@Miniature Sheep - that's nostalgic :D I grew up playing/singing certain sea shanties thanks to my family indoctrinating me as a kid to shanties, folk music and other random things not in the charts :) I also have a tin whistle somewhere. Haven't seen it for a while (although Dad always called them flageolets so I grew up calling it that as well. xD). I played mostly on the recorder (sopranino and descant) as a kid, before I started messing with the clarinet and the violin (the latter mostly badly). But singing has always been the most fun and this is definitely the year for a bit of musical cheer!

The thing that made me smile today was impromptu pony luck! I found a beautiful notebook and matching pencil case in Home Bargains; they're both blush pink and gold, with Fizzy on the notebook and an array of ponies on the pencil case. I'm coming towards the end of my current notebook after a load of ideas came up out of nowhere, so it's turned out to be pretty good timing!Lucky!!

Happy Birthday Harmonie! May you get every pony you've ever dreamed of!
My smile is also bird related  Outside my bedroom window is a large tree. There used to be an early morning and dusk bird that would sit in it and squawk. It wasn't all that pleasant a sound. Well, for the past three days or so, the bird has moved to another tree nearby. I can still hear it but what has moved into the tree by my window are a group of Mourning Doves! :) I got to listen to them cooing and hooing this morning. It was very nice.

I've done madeira cake in a loaf tin several times before and it's always risen in a neat arch, but for some reason this time, it rose in two arches with a neat line down the middle... and it rather looks like a butt.
I've heard of moon cakes but...

I had an extensive eye exam today. Everything is the same as a year ago and it's all good :) My degeneration of my nerves hasn't gotten any worse and I passed the glaucoma test 100% :whew:

Yay that's great news!
Today I collected a belated Christmas present for me (I had saved up money etc to go towards it) and yesterday, after searching online, I found a company who actually had it in stock in the UK... AND would do next day delivery... done, collected, played with!
It's a very handsome electric guitar, not an expensive one but I wanted something "new" and lovely as a treat (my other ones are old, second-hand and a bit well-loved). For any geeks out there, it is a Fender Squier Stratocaster in Arctic white, dark fretboard & "skunk stripe" neck, hard-tailed bridge (an attempt to keep it in tune longer!) with HSS pickups. Just what I needed to compliment my lockdown playing (and to compare the feel with my old SSS strats with tremolo bridges). I am hoping to be able to jam with my little girl when she gets more confident with her playing!
I would have preferred to have bought from any of my local indie music instrument shops but neither had any in stock :( awaiting new stock from abroad.
So, I haz me a big ol' smile today!
p.s. I think is cost less than what a decent Mountain Boy pony goes for, nowadays!
My lungs are totally healed from my brush with Covid! My doctor told me that physically I'm completely back to normal and I more than likely won't have to worry about any serious complications.
I'm just really happy with the new administration and what has happened so far - and it's only been four days! :D
We have running water! The pipes unfroze!
A sneaky snake was in one of my plants outside. It didn't appreciate getting wet and popped out of the pot. I think it was a rat snake, maybe a cornsnake? I put him in the hedges.
I got my first covid vaccine!:frolic: :frolic: :frolic:
I changed my ringtone a few months ago to Moonlight Densetsu, the opening theme from Sailor Moon and it makes me smile every time my phone rings even if it's a telemarketer.

Gomen ne, sunao ja nakute...yume no naka nara ieru...
I remember them playing that at one of the events I went to back in the before time, and it was so hard not to start singing it...
It must be years since I watched SM, and yet it's one of THOSE songs that never leaves your brain. EVER.
OMG I found out where the fruit flies are coming from! A moldy onion in my onion basket! It was on the bottom of the pile, a little yellow onion. It had gone bad and I didn't pick up on it. I'm housecleaning and doing "adulting" today so I cleaned the kitchen really well and finally found it! Yay :D Now that I've gotten rid of it (and a couple others that were starting to go - I love onions and tend to overbuy ^^; ) the flies will (hopefully!) stop now. They've dwindled down quite a bit but there are still enough around to be a nuisance.
Today is my birthday and my friends took me out to get sushi. The food was so good and I had a really day!

In line at the convenience store today, this mom and kid made me smile. Something about the kid reminded me of my son...his mannerisms or something, and the way he wore his shark themed raincoat with the hood up in the store, which is totally a thing my son would do and wear. He was bouncing all over the place, and it was just an instant flashback to a couple of years ago when my little guy was that age. I let them go ahead of me, since I know how hard it is to keep a kid with that amount of energy from breaking free to run amok. Just a weird, random moment where it occurred to me how fast kids grow up and to appreciate them in the moment...I gave mine a big hug when I picked him up from school. You had me at shark-themed raincoat!!!

It was cute--the hood was the shark's head and it had a fin on it. My son has a shark bucket hat with a face and fin on it, maybe that's what made me think of him.
Thing to smile about today: one of my twin girls went all day using the potty without an accident. TMI, I know...but it's a relief to know that one of them is finally getting it.
I found the scissors!! they were behind a box in the pony room
I was looking at some old pictures of my aunt today in honor of our shared birthday. She passed away in March, and it was my first birthday without her. It was bittersweet, but some of the pictures made me smile. There was one of the Christmas she gave my sister the pony baby buggy, and she was helping her set it up while my other sister looked on covetously. Gusty was on the floor in the picture, too...I had always wondered where Gusty came from, I knew she was my younger sister's, but didn't know who got her for her.
The Saimaa ringed seal cam is live again! My favourite reality tv show, haha. At the moment there's not just one but two seals. They are adorable and hilarious  https://wwf.fi/en/wildlive/saimaa-ringed-seal/
I'm getting a referral for equine therapy through my insurance! :cheer:
I know I'm too fat to ride a horse but I can do other things, like feed them, brush them, bathe them, talk to them. I'm really excited!
Got home from work and saw my first adult cicada of the year! We are having a huge emergence of seventeen-year periodical cicadas this year, I'm pumped!

Pumped?!
I'm terrified! :yikes: Although I don't know if this 17 year emergence is effecting where I live, since I hear it's a mid west thing. I hope that's the case because I don't need anymore of those things around. Ugh.

You can look n this article to see where and when periodical cicadas will emerge, on a US Forest Service map: https://www.vox.com/science-and-health/22362042/cicada-brood-x-map-2021
They are not harmful to humans, they don't bite or sting. And they are smaller than the regular cicadas that come out every summer. But yeah there will be a huge number of them so it can be a bit intimidating. Today they really started coming out in large numbers, and they are up in the trees singing!
I bought ingredients to bake cookies for my brother as thanks for a rather... emotional hang-out session. I managed to sneak everything into the cupboards without him seeing, and now I'm getting all warm and fuzzy inside knowing there's sugar and brown sugar and flour and semi-sweet chocolate just waiting to get turned into little nuggets of love and gratitude... Does that sound cheesy? :PAww that's sweet!
May I ask what game you've discovered, BlackCurtains? :)
My renewal for my apartment went through and not only am I leased for another year, they lowered my rent again. Plus, the DCF adjusted my Food Stamps and I get almost double what I got before :) Just went on an online grocery shopping spree

Yeah, discovered that the costume that came with my Zootopia Gazelle fits my adorable femboy, Austin Crowe. Here he is ready for open mic night at the Falcon's Nest...
I handed out cold waters to the garbage and recycling pick up guys when they came by today... it was almost 40 with the humidity and sunny and I wanted to make sure to say thank you as it's not a great job but in this heat would be brutal. They really appreciated it.

Honestly... the MLP arena makes me smile a lot these days  I've been having kind of a hard time on social media lately, and am not a big fan of the direction web 2.0 has taken in general, so it is very relieving to know there's still an active web 1.0-based community I can retreat to.
While I admit that social media is a bit quantity over quantity for me, I also feel like it's become a really polarised space in the last several years. Not just with bigger political issues but smaller ones as well. The things people can hate on each other over are seemingly endless...
@Ponyfan, the answer to the baseball game question is A LOT xD.
My parents are visiting, and mom was looking over the new pony display I'm working on.
Mom: Who's the girl? She's unrelated to the ponies, right?
Dad: That's Megan.
And he started reminiscing about pony-related names he remembers from our childhoods. Which was like... Baby Firefly and Katrina. But I'm really impressed the name of a one-off villain stuck with him like that for 30+ years. I guess we must have been pretty obsessed with that special.

I have a butterfly bar in the garden. Many Admirals (In Finnish: Amiraali) and Mourning cloaks (In Finnish: Suruvaippa) have visited there every day. There are also flies and wasps that I don't like so much, but they also need food. :)

Try 'butterfly feeder', I believe that'll give some more results :) We call it a butterfly bar in Finnish, probably because it sounds fun... maybe 'butterfly buffet' is something you'd do in English for a similar connotation and fun allitteration. :D (Ok googled it and yup, got some results, esp. for DIY feeders! Might be a regional difference, too?)

:yippee: Now the photo sharing site works and I get a couple of pictures here! These beauties make me smile :lovey:
I planted milkweed in the spring to try and attract monarch butterflies. Yesterday, I saw six monarch caterpillars and I think one is planning on making a cocoon. :) My plan for a butterfly army to conquer the world with is coming along nicely.

I saw a big gator today! Must've been about 8-9 feet. You don't normally see them that big around here but it's mating season and all the rain we've had has made it easier for them to get around. I wish I had remembered to get my phone out and take a pic.
MouseCardinal, I wanna seee! Where's your art thread already? :bateyes:I guess I didn't think anyone would be interested! I'll get onto making a thread

Happy early birthday, Luxrayx
Have a great birthday Luxrays xxxThank you!:hug: I feel a bit bad because my parents forgot that it was my birthday, so now they feel really guilty about it. I wish I could make them understand how not upset I am, because I still had a wonderful day hanging out with my very dearest friend AND I got a beautiful drawing from my sibling! :lovey:
^ I too am happy about the election results! And... also not going into details on pony forum.
My sibling sent me a message asking if I want anything for my birthday tomorrow. I asked if they could make a fanart of my favorite OCs. But then I started panicking and apologizing, for selfishly thrusting them into an art request out of nowhere... and they replied "Now, listen here, anxiety. It's your birthday, let yourself have a birthday."
Something about that wording is so reassuring, I don't even know how to explain it
I know it may be pretty trivial, but I've finally caught up on The Simpsons... well, sort of. Back in March of last year, as part of that whole stay home thing, I decided to have a big marathon of all Simpsons episodes I had watched so far (the first nine seasons and some of the tenth season) and then I would continue from there after a long break from the show so that I could finally know which episodes all those post-1998 scenes on YouTube are from, but somehow there would always be something getting in the way and it actually took much longer than I expected, but this night I finally watched the first new episode in years!

I actually watched that episode back in 2016, but now I finally know where Lisa playing the dingo game came from.
After a lot of my own procrastinating, I finally applied to a college. Now to just wait 30 days for someone to look over my application.
It's my cat's 19th birthday today! :lovey:Whaa, 19?! :dropjaw: Congrats! That sounds like a wonderful celebration
She got lots of treats, both crunchy and soup style. Lots of love and I even sang to her :accomplished:
Belated happy birthday to the kitty!
A friend of my Dad had a rescue cat who lived till 21, but some cats live to a really ripe old age beyond that. Hoping yours is one of them BC :)
Parents got booster jabs. AT LAST.Doctor Haj. Haj yaiy.
Dang, I'm good  I made teeth for my sculpture and was just making them randomly. Once I felt like I had a nice sized pile I stopped. I put them on today and I had the exact number I needed.Glad that worked out so well!!!

That is all.
Yes, I am eternally 7 years old.
I finally managed to get the moldy smell out of my french press! :frolic: (yeah I know I should have been more careful, but we live and we learn)Ooh, I fancy a coffee now!
We gather a bunch of them, by each posting up a different one, & the bot sharky reacts by dancing & shoving up a jam gif.
I'm glad your test went well :) Could the feeling in your throat be related to the hypothyroidism? Or swollen lymph nodes? Your doctor probably would have found that though.
Yes, I think it can and I hope it is due to hypothyroidism. Too bad I didn’t notice asking the doctor if it could be because of it.

I have hypothyroidism too. I have a lot of problems with my throat but most of it is from having scar tissue removed when I was a kid. But my mom, who also has it, had problems with her throat before she was on medication. She swore there was something IN her throat and would gag trying to get it out. It eventually went away when she was the medicine for a while. Whatever it is, I hope it goes away!
Sister is home :)
We got a white Christmas! :frolic: It was snowing a lot yesterday and now it is -10 ° C! :xmas: :glitter: :glitter:

I learnt 2 styles of arpeggio on the guitar today - but then discovered something really cool when I accidentally nudged the dial on my amp - it set it to a delay mode - so when I played the arpeggio, the delayed playback echoed the notes & it sounded like a a whole bunch of cascading notes being played together - it was so lovely!Oh wow, that's really cool! I might have to try that myself.
My first arpeggio, for those interested, was a romantic major 7. The second one was a minor 7 flat 5, which sounded really dark & sinister - really spooky with the delay!
Wait, you made that by hand?! :whoa: That's so impressive!Yep, & proud to get it done. Well, hand, two knitting needles & a darning needle (knitting needles of 3.75mm)
That's precious, PBW! I love the color choices. It HAD to have a dorsal cover!!! Keeps her dorsal fin warm xxx
I just noticed you made a sleeve for the dorsal fin. Love that!!!
Congrats on your one year Arenaversary! :D
My dad (I'm assuming) deposited $200 in my bank today :whoa: I'm trying to call him but he's not answering. It isn't like him to just give out money. I wonder if he won big on a lottery ticket?
We went and fed the cheeky water birds, who were as much fighting over it all as usual. The geese are so good at giving sad dog faces xD.
FINALLY an email from my university graduation office saying that the cancelled graduation ceremony from 2020 is hopefully going to be rescheduled for December 2022! With official dates to come. I may yet get to graduate my PhD with a proper ceremony! Hopefully things will be safer by then!

My 19 year old cat only weighs 4lbs, she's skin and bones, so I ordered a high calorie supplement to give her every day. It's a thick gel and you need to use a tea spoon amount, which is a lot. I mixed it in some treat soup but it wouldn't mix very well. She ate it all! I was worried the flavor or texture would bother her.
Yes, she's always been small. I think the most she ever weighed was 8lbs. She was 6lbs most of her life.
Believe it or not but my heart cat who passed away was even smaller. She weighed the same, 4lbs, but her frame was small. My living cat is an orange tabby and has a bigger body overall, plus her fur is medium so she's fluffier. They spent most of their lives together.
This is related to the world of ponies although I will write this here in Off Topic. I don't know where I would have put it there ...
However, I am very excited and happy that I might get something very big on Sunday related to ponies! :yikes: :frolic:
But I won't tell you what it is yet ^.^ If all goes well, one day my latest treasure will appear in the Pony Brag area with a picture. ;)
Birthday :DLooking forward to seeing xxx
But especially, a gift from my sister. I'll take and post pictures if I can at the weekend, but she drew a picture of Windy and had it put on a cushion for me. Windy was my first pony :D It's so pretty :D
BC, Your writing brought joy to me and a smile on my face :)
Now tonight in the sky northern lights! :frolic: The next night there is also a chance to see them! :green:

:yippee: I did it! I survived the gastroscopy! :frolic:
It happened this morning. I didn’t get a soothing injection because I didn’t know I should have come to the health center earlier than my allotted time. It was a pretty unpleasant experience, but it was worthwhile to do. The doctor said that I'm worth to visit the ultrasound description of thyroid gland, as the symptoms may join the goiter. He also took several tissue samples of the throat, stomach and small intestine. After four weeks, I get to know if the pathologist found anything.
Fortunately, it is now done and over! :relaxed:
I got accepted to join the MLP Arena! :)
I've been experimenting with resin. So far, I'm happy with how this one is turning out.

She has glitter for daytime sparkles but glow-in-the-dark stars and moons for nighttime fun. I don't think she'll be as darkly colored once I take her out of the red mold but that will make it easier for the glowing bits to absorb light.
i'm starting to collect ponies again. brags coming soon :)
I have officially completed my last round of chemotherapy!! Just in time, apparently. My lab tech informed me that it was a good thing, because my veins were looking angry and she was having a hard time finding one to put an IV in (I refused to have a port). So while treatment is far from over, I get a much-needed break from sticks and yucky chemicals! :beerchug: :yippee: :cheer:  :green:That's awesome news xxx
I got my eyebrow pierced!! :frolic:
Leave a Whisper, that's wonderful to hear! Congratulations to your daughter.
I finally got some decent sleep. I had to kick my cat out of the bedroom. She's the main reason I haven't been sleeping - she keeps waking me up! So I was done with it last night and closed the door. I did still wake up (because of my apnea most likely) but I got at least 3 hours straight sleep.

I'm happy today because I got so much done yesterday :) I love my shaved head! It feels so nice to have the breeze from the fan on my neck.
I'm also feeling happy in general. I have a regular sleep schedule for the first time probably since I was in elementary school. My medicine is perfect, I think. I'm not feeling any depression or anxiety (well, maybe a little) but I actually look forward to the next day when I go to bed. I don't think I've ever felt that way before. I wonder if normal people feel like this?

I didn't get one of my medications on Monday (I couldn't pick it up earlier as when I ordered it I still had COVID-19), and it's a pretty important one. Turns out they were out of stock of the amount I need, so I need to take two tablets instead of one (no big deal). However, I only had enough of my regular version until ... uh, today, and man did I feel not taking it this morning! The public transport routes around here are really bad at the moment due to heat/staff shortages/roadworks, so I dared to ask if I could go home even earlier than scheduled because I was afraid that the early bus wouldn't get me there on time.PHEW!!!
Turns out that was the right call; if I had taken the bus I had meant to, I would have been 15 minutes too late!! I got home and got my medication!!
So I got Bridal Beauty in the post, and I put a new toy in my animals cage. Immediately, the younger one was on it and investigating/nibbling ...
... she's broken a string of thick beads off it already  I'm not mad, toys are made to be broken, it's just funny how quickly she did it!

What kind of animals? :) I had a super smart gerbil who could take apart puzzle toys in minutes.
What's made me smile is just being home and getting some decent sleep. My cat is also very happy to be home.
My cat, stole my Mother little plush lamb and put it in the toilet. I have repeatedly warned my parents about the perils leaving the toilet seat up.

I got accepted onto my MA recently, but the real reason I'm excited is because I was looking at modules today and there is a digital histories module - a programming module seeking to combine interests in computer science and history to work on databases and such!! Which are my two biggest interests. I'm really hoping I can get a place on it (not that I expect it will be super oversubscribed) - I've done programming as a hobby so to get some proper teaching would be AWESOME!
Thank you! It stayed gone and I don't have one today either
I also got some great news! My EBT (food stamps) has been reinstated :cheer: I'm glad it happened so quickly. I'm getting less than I was before since my dad has been giving me more money each month, but that's okay. I actually have plenty of food but I run out of fresh things like veggies and cheese. A lot of what I have in the pantry also calls for milk or eggs or both.
Now if my disability gets reinstated soon I'm all set
What great gifts! I didn't know you liked owls so much :) Happy birthday!
So I am a high school student, and in my second period class, I have Foods/Wellness. Basically we cook and bake stuff. The group im in is with 3 other freshmen. We all make fun of eachother in a fun way, call eachother pretty harsh names to mess with eachother. Today, Noah had his shoe put in the trash, then he put Loalas backpack in the trash. Then, we laughed soooo hard after that. Sooooo.... high school is pretty intense for me.
I got a kitty!!!! :hearts: :frolic:  :kitty:
I shaved my head! :frolic: It feels so much better! I sweat from my head a lot for some reason. My head, face and the back of my knees are always the first to start, I don't really sweat anywhere else. I got tired of having wet hair all the time.
I shaved my head before but I think I used the number 4 guard. This time I used the 2.
Before and after!
Looks good! Shaved hair suits you well! :ohyeah: It was also nice to see what you look like!
I got my check :frolic: Remember the disability lawyer I hired? I used all my savings to pay the retainer and he took my case up to District Court and dropped it? I thought he kept all my money but I got a call from the firms bookkeeper who said she was sending me a check for the amount minus what they used to get records and mail stuff, etc. They only used about $200 out of $3500 so I got this hefty check here :D Most of it is going back into my savings, but I'll be able to buy a new box spring and the upright bike I've had my eye on.

My mom got the job she wanted after going through 3 rounds of interviews! :woot:
My PC is fixed :cheer: The tech dude was here for three hours :whoa: It was a software AND hardware issue. A problem with Windows being corrupted and a problem with my motherboard not being compatible with the USB with the new Windows installation on it. He also had to disconnect one of my SSDs because it was interfering with the start up process. There's one little hiccup that I need to call about. He installed Win 10 Pro, but my license is for Home edition. I can't personalize the computer without it being activated.

BC, she's such a cutie! I love her eyes.
I am such a bad gamer.. like in bad with the controls. I'm playing Mario Wonder and keep dying. I tried being Mario and I tried being Peach. I'm laughing so hard at how bad I am. My husband told me it might be better if I'm Yoshi instead. He can't die. I love Yoshi, he's my favorite Mario character, but playing him feels like cheating. But I'm so bad I might just have to do it. Yaay. Yoshi!
I have a new nephew. He showed up at 4 am yesterday. :)Congrats! ^.^

John remembered he had a portable discreader for his PC. He plugged it into the computer and my Secret of Nimh DVD works on it! :yippee: So he moved it to my computer! It's not a bigscreen TV but I can at least watch it! I am so happy! :joy:
Happy birthday, Bakana! PBW, I always wanted to ask, does her name mean anything? Did you name her or did she come with it?
edit: Oh! I almost forgot! I finally got a pony shirt! :frolic:

I haven't watched Smurfs for years but was desperate the other day trying to get some sleep and started watching them on TV. That led to finding this on Youtube from The Smurfs and the Magic Flute

Ponyfan
That's the version I grew up with! I bought it on DVD and it's the UK dub, which I didn't know existed, so Peewit's name is William and Johann is John and it just isn't the same.
Bummer, that video is not available here. I think I'm gonna stream the oscars on my next day off so hopefully I can watch it then.
Ponyfan, it did and wow. I got the biggest smile ever!
I was able to buy a new (to me) car yesterday. Still bummed that the last one was totaled by someone else but I like the new one so it's not all bad.
I'm not religious but doing seasonal decorating lifts my mood, and so many Easter traditions are pagan anyway... The white tablecloth brightens up the whole room and together with the decorations makes me smile every time I enter the room.
This was last night. I was eating strawberries and I went to pet Aster. She went crazy on my fingers! So I gave her a little slice of strawberry and she acted like some cats act with catnip  I got it all on video!
