Title: Monster High parts
Post by: Crowning_Glory13 on December 09, 2017, 08:42:06 AM
So I found a Monster High doll in bad shape. Face, hair and body is awesome just needs cleaning. She is mising an arm from the shoulder socket and an arm from the elbow joint.

Is it easy to find parts?
Any one want her to customs of no parts can be found?

I am slowly starting to fall for these dolls:)

All information is greatly appreciated:)

The gargoyle one with pink hair with a teal streak

The gargoyle is Rochelle goyle. If you have a pic I can identify which version that she is for you.

Seconding this, I'd love to see which Rochelle you got :)
And I can totally understand how you are starting to fall for MH after her - she was my bery first too back then the one who started it all for me. Fast forward to today, my collection is... well, bigger than what I am comfortable to admit  (not as big as ponies, but definitely not the "just a few" I originally aimed for, and not even the "okay, but no more than twenty" :P

As for her arms, Mattel is also selling spare parts for MH dolls, you can buy a pair of arms for her here:

Rochelle has that kind of face, it draws you in. I think she was the first one I ever found second hand at the toy fair, in a box, with no clothes...I didn't even know it then but Rochelle is now one of my favourites. I may have more Rochelles than any other character which is weird :/

Erm, arms and such. I don't know how easy the shoulder joints are to replace but elbow joints/lower arms are very easy. Mattel designed older dolls to detach at wrists and elbows (possibly) for dressing, in any case they pop out and in. The only thing I'd say is to make sure there is no broken peg from the lost arm(s) in there.

Some sellers also sell arms on ebay. That sounds wrong. Some sellers also sell doll arms on ebay. There. That sounded better ;)

I mention this because Mattel has changed the joints and the bodies and stuff from the reboot and I think the newer dolls have thicker arms. Some of them also have very clumsy elbow joints now (though mostly Venus I think?) So if your doll is older, and she probably is, you might want to try the ebay seller line. As I said, though, I have no idea about replacing a full arm. It's never happened to me. I've replaced a lot of forearms and hands, but not full arms...

Uh, you are right Taffeta... I missed the point that one arm is missing from the shoulder socket  that will indeed be hard to replace, as those weren't meant to be removable originally, only the elbow and wrist joints are removable. Because of this, Mattel also does not sell upper arms for regular MH dolls, only lower ones. The link I included in my previous post lists which dolls the offered parts are compatible with (and they are the older type), so in case your Rochelle is an older version (chances are high, IIRC only two new Rochelles were produced so far, in the Shriek Wrecked and Party Ghouls lines) those will be compatible with your doll - but will only be a solution for the arm that's missing from below the elbow.
As for the upper arm piece, I don't know if there are eBay sellers selling those either, since those are originally not removable and removing them basically requires breaking the doll's torso  Is there visible damage to the shoulder socket? Also, is the body exactly the same color as the head, with the little specks in the plastic? I'm just wondering if Rochelle's head hasn't gone through a body swap and is now on a CAM silver Werewolf body (which can be taken apart fully).
In case the body is indeed Rochelle's, you can also consider buying a replacement body for her, I know sellers on eBay have doll bodies too.

Judging by the photo, I'm going to say that she is the swimsuit one.

Her make up is quite gentle.

If you are ging to try to fix her up on this body you also need to find her some wings :D

Yep! On her back there are two little holes that they fit into. They're only small, batlike grey wings I guess. The wings are also detachable so often come loose and are missing in second hand dolls. They're also quite easy to pick up second-hand :)

Fortunately you can find mh bodies pretty easily on eBay:) Rochelle is adorable ( and one of my favorites), can't wait to see her fixed up!

She indeed seems to be Swim Class Rochelle, congrats on the find! She was a Justice exclusive doll, so she is among the rarer MH dolls (and the only Rochelle I have never seen IRL).
Her body is her own, so I'm guessing her left arm was broken off at the shoulder. Poor thing :( The easiest fix indeed seems to be a body replacement. I am always happy to see dolls getting TLC instead of being just given up for a new/better condition one, and I can't wait to see pics of her once she gets a new body :)

I do have her up for trade, as I really have no clue how to fix. I do know a doll collector that restores, but I can afford to pay for that, so I might donate it to them. I have never found a rare find before...i do feel a bit sad that I am in no position to really help her:(
