Please use this thread to share your confirmed hair colour matches for Nylon hair from Retrodolls US and Retrodolls UK. It would also be helpful to share any hair colours that were a close, but not exact match and also hair that is definitely not a match so that they can be ruled out. Bear in mind that original 80's hair will fade slightly so in some cases may look different to new hair, even if it is the correct colour.

I tend to buy more pastel colors, so i can not compare the vibrant colors. I try to match more as i get more in! :D
can someone check if tangerine sorbet fits peaches and cream by dollyhair? And does bordoir fit dollyhairs heart throb?

Also TheDollPlanet's 'Yellow submarine' is very close to Baby Splosh's yellow, just a slight warmer hue but of course mine have joined me for the bath for years so I dont know if that effects the hair much.. how she dont have rusttail is a miracle.

siberia is one of my favorites, it gives a more opaque and full look when blending a color.^^ lemondrop should be a close match but i am not sure about orchid. i do not have blossom here, is it the same haircolor as baby lemondrop?

It would be good to find a white match too - I tried one from Retro Dolls UK (Dove?) and it’s too ‘white’ and not as silvery as the original G1 hair.

Ballet Slipper did not match my Bowtie but she is also a bait pony so I have no ide if she is faded. Tried matching with other pink haired ponies I have but its either to light or too dark.

Sea Shell seems to matc up with the pink on my Rumper but she also the only one with pink left of my faded pink ponies so I dont know how pink 'faded pink' was.

Orchid did not match up with the purple I needed its too "neon" purple compared to Blossoms. Siberia is super white with no sign of the silvershade found in white pony hairs.

I can confirm that "Ballet Slipper" does not match Bow Tie pink. "Flamigo" matches G3 Strawberry Surpise pink exactly, G3 and G3.5 Pinkie Pie has strikes of this pink in her hair. It's a shade too dark for fading pink, not sure if any G1 pony had this colour. "Pixie Dust" allegedly matches Fading Pink.

Not sure if I follow - I meant to ask if "Orchid" hair matches the color of Lemon Drop's (pony) hair colour. I know that Blossom's hair matches Lemon Drop's (pony) hair, except for nirvanas and re-releases. Are you saying that "Orchid" matches Blossom's hair and therefore Lemon Drop's too? (Man, it's so confusing that there's Lemon Drop the pony and Lemon Drop the hair color)

Yes, I stock all the same colors as the UK as she supplies those to me. 2. I also outsource my own nylon and am ordering from the factory myself. So I do have colors that the UK does not. Here is our old list of matches- however some of these colors from the UK/US are retired and we have since gotten a ton of new colors. Philippa's Custom ponies matched these colors and some I agree on, some I don't.

On the website mlphairmatches it says that bright baby blue is a match with atomic turquoise. However, this colour is not listed on the uk website and the shipping the us website charses is twice the amount dollyhair used to charge... Anyone got another hair match for atomic turquoise?

yess, atomic turquise is really bad, reef is far more blue. there is a light blue which looks to me like a shiny version of atomic turquoise, but it is definitely not a match. Melanie ist working hard and researching for these colors, so maybe in the future.
i am really looking forward to our "comparison party" ;)

Yes there are some other mistakes on there that I noticed too.
Is Wonderland a match for DH Heartthrob? I couldn’t order any Wonderland this time as it was out of stock, so I couldn’t compare it with the the Heartthrob I have left.
I’m glad Melanie will be getting a match for Atomic Turquoise in!
I’m also looking for a match for the Rainbow Curl Stripes blue stream. I thought it was Atomic Turqioise but it’s more green.

I took some comparison photos between Retro Dolls hair and Dollyhair to see which ones match.
Yellow Ribbon looks to be a pretty close match to Lemondrop.

Hmm my stocks are running low and I've only ordered from Dollyhair before. Can anyone advise me on the following DH-RDUK matches?
- Whites - what are the closest matches for Virgin Snow (I consider this the "standard" white) and White Witch (more muted than Virgin Snow)?
- Blacks - is Obsidian a pure black? It looks kind of matte in the photos, not close to DH Black Magick... as far as I can see this is the only black colour available? (RDUS seems to have a wider selection)
- Greens - is there a dark green colour similar to Poison Ivy available? Doesn't need to be an exact match. I can't find any dark greens and Poison Ivy is one of my favourite colours...

i do not have hokey pokey but from the pictures it looks like lemon meringue RD, which is lemonade in DH.
tangerine sorbet is the peach color in G1, like in the rainbow ponies or on Nachtlicht.
petal blossoms mane seems lesser translucent on the pictures and more vibrant?

sometimes, it is really difficult to get the colors right in photographs! i swear i do my best, but browser and monitors can all display colors differentely.
now onto fading pink. well.
this color even fades differently on different ponies! so i took some comparison pictures. Pandabearchan/isabella told us before, fading pink has an orange undertone which is difficult to get right.

it is suuuper close to lemon drops purple, but destiny is slightly more blue in its undertone.

Nachtlicht has tangerine sorbet, spearmint, alien and i think the green is eden, but i have not compared that in person since it is currently sold out.
Mel is working on it to have it back in stock soon - i am looking forward to make a nachtlicht custom too and i guess i will blend spearmint with shamrock for it. ^^ this will not be an accurate copy but more a natural blend of the hue of color.

Ok, so it seems as though Retrodolls don’t have an exact match for that colour.
It’s half way between Reef and Spearmint. Reef is too blue, with Joe enough turquoise/green in it. Spearmint is the correct hue, but is a little bit too light.
I'm talking about Sparkler, the carousel pony but that's my bad for not specifying.

I never heared of Holly Hock before, sorry I don't know whether it is a hair color or a pony, etc. A few more information would help here.
