Title: New pony artist 👩🏻‍🎨
Post by: Blazenheartcustoms on June 04, 2019, 09:08:06 PM
Hello
I’m an artist all my life(42 years). I’ve been airbrushing for 27 years. I just started making ponies and would just like to read information about cleaning and restoring them. I had a herd of the original first ponies as a kid and would like to replace my herd.

Hello there! :D
There are so many methods for cleaning them! If you have baits ( not for a collection!- ponies you want to airbrush anyway) pull off thier head. ^^
if it has strong glue, try softening the plastic with hot water, be carefull not to destroy the inner holding mechanism of the neck. you can also lay the pony in acetone or acetone thinned out with water.

head of the bait? nice, now cut the tail and mane short. you can pull the holding ring of the tail out easily with a crochet needle.
for the head, i use big scissors and scrape with the tip of one blade on the inside where the hairline is. you will see you will pull the hair out. be carefull nor to poke through the head!

now your bait is prepped.
it still might be yucky? rust inside? - trow head and body into the washing mashine and they will be nicely clean.
they -will- survive the dryer but i recommend you leave them to dry a few days outside or on the windowsill.

now you have perfectly good baits! :D

but others may have different methods. ;)

If you are customizing them, just be careful not to bait a htf pony. There's also a few reproductions out at the store, so consider using those as a base.

There's a lot when it comes to cleaning ponies.. like toothpaste for tail rust.. sun fading for certain stains (usually pen/marker)... Conditioner/hair straightener treatment for frizzy hair.

That webpage covers a lot.

Welcome aboard! As my fellow arena members have said, the mlp preservation project has a bounty of information and might prove quite useful to you.
Also, I love sky/space themed ponies, and your profile picture looks stunning! Did you make her?

Hi, welcome to the Arena!

The preservation project is a great resource, just one warning though - it does advocate for the use of acne cream. Don't use acne cream. It will ruin your ponies.

Anyway, the pony in your avatar is stunninggg :lovey: Can't wait to see more of your stuff! Enjoy the forum, I'll see you around :D
