Title: Are these fake G4 Celestia & Nightmare Mooon figures?

I just received Princess Celestia and Nightmare Moon figures via eBay.

These are the first G4 figures I have bought new (got my first batch a couple of days ago, second-hand early mane 6).  The quality is so poor I am wondering if they are fakes/knock-offs (I am hoping they are, as the alternative -- that this is the quality of official merch -- is appalling).  They came from a seller based in the UK but clearly with links to China and the figures came not in packaging (which I knew in advance).

These are the issues:

- first and foremost, they can't stand up. They just topple over to one side at the slightest touch.  None of the hooves is flat to the ground.  If I bend one of the back legs outwards and turn the head away from the leaning, it can stand but precariously. Photo: woah catch me please!

- the plastic is rough, with a scuffed/sandpapered feeling in places and with visible lines from the mold. Photo:

- Celestia's head is noticeably a different colour from her body Photo:

- The paint is patchy in places, particularly on the feet where the black of NM's body shows through in places

- the glitter on NMs moon symbol has just been dumped on and bleeds outside of the symbol. Photo:

- the tail hair is so sparse as to not fill up the tail hole. Photo (sorry about my nails):

- Celestia's crown is a rough cheap-feeling weird bendy plastic, feels almost like sandpaper. Photo:

- the figures are very heavy and feel almost solid

Is this normal for G4? Am I just spoiled by beautiful G1s toys which are the only MLPs I've seen until now?

I think they are fakies.  I bought a Celestia-mold Luna that has the same qualities you're describing, except she stands just fine.

Hmm, thank you Skeen.  I also just noticed Celestia's necklace has a chunk missing.

They both have a MLP logo on their lifted hoof but the quality of the finishing is appalling.

Regardless of whether or not they're kosher, I don't really want them in my house, so off to charity shop they go.

I know! They do look quite pretty in the photos but a bit yuck in real life. Anyone who wants then free for postage is welcome just message me!

The Celestia is 100% fake. The collar thing is the quickest giveaway.

There are tonnes of princess-mold fakies on eBay at the moment, I've noticed. There was even a set I saw of all the main 6 as princesses!

Yes, the mold has a series of fakies, Princess Applejack being my favorite and one I actually sought out to buy.

Did you buy her? What did you think IRL? They do look very pretty (hence I bought them thinking they were real!) but it's when you touch and hold them that the quality issues are apparent.

So do you think there's like one person in China who has gotten hold of a Celestia mold and is churning them out? It's kind of interesting!

She doesn't actually feel too off. It's the less crisp edges and paint that make her seem off. Not sure who is churning them out, but they are a fun fakie.

They appear to be made by the same company that made my Luna ones. That Cele even has the black stripe in their tail.  Wonder why they did a lousy job with NMM's cutie marks when they got it right on Luna (on both sides to boot)?

I just looked to see if they made a Pinkie one, and they do, so I bought it. Why?

Slightly off topic but holy flip-flops she looks really cute like that!! The comic has some really nice designs sometimes.

Her legs are bent in a little. I'm thinking it's from being shipped in a small padded envelope. Some boiling water should take care of it.

Very cute!  I love how these figures look but I can't come around to how they feel IRL.  I do love the Princess of Chaos though. Soooo............. WATCH OUT!!!!!

I will admit I like the Princess fakies of AJ, Pinkie, Rainbow Dash and I think they have Fluttershy by now too right? So ridiculous and fun...

but yeah, the quality is sub par.  Even considering Hasbro's own low standards.  The fakies have weird feeling plastic and rough cheap feeling hair.

There's a Princess Trixie and another version of Cadence in that style now.   If the legs are bent, stick a magic marker or something similar in between the legs for a week and it'll bend them back into place.
