This kind of thing is pretty normal in the UK, where there is absolutely no logic that I can discern in stocking aside (empty space - fill with whatever you can find) xD. I don't know how old that set you found is, but it's nice to know that even the organised store system in the US has holes in it ;)

Neat! Reminds me of the time a few years back when I found the Calico Critters Berry Grove School at my local learning express for the original listing price, which, as far as I know, hasn't been on shelves since 2013. The box was all dusty, too! I wonder how stuff just gets lost or forgotten like that...? Either way, it's always fun to find a lost relic :P

Cool! Stores around me do that all the time! I once found a 2014 Vinyl Scratch EQG in March of 2017. It was still the original price too :) It looks like your set is before October of 2014 since it has the Hub network logo on it.

My best was the G1 Bed and Crib set (circa 1994) in 2000 in Birmingham TRU (now long since defunct, weird store it was). Also, I guess, my parents getting me Baby Applejack (circa 1984) for CHristmas 1995 from a London store, but I know there were special circumstances around that, being that Hasbro UK had unloaded all their excess stock to these people.

In more recent terms, there are still original first wave Rainbow Power ponies in some stores around these parts. And most of the Monster High dolls in my London TRU are from at least 4 years ago.

I still see Water Cuties and the Wedding CMC pop up on occasion.

Applejack and FLower Wishes (?) are permanent fixtures on shop shelves. My sister is considering doing an appeal to get the last Applejack in her shop rehomed because she's even bought one of each and they're still there. HAsbro definitely made TOO MANY of those...

We also just got the baggied Lyra and company in our stores this year. I am sure the US had them 2 years ago...and we keep getting ex-Target stuff and ex-Hasbro Canada stuff as well. I swear we're a dumping ground for all North America and Europe's unwanted toy stuff. (Not that I mind...)

My local Toys R Us was like that until they put out the movie toys this sumner. They still had pink Celestia Toys and the  Wedding CMC

I remember some store that sold old stock and my mom bought me a Cupcake  Bride Parfait doll.

Thanks Safflower. :) I didn’t even notice The Hub logo.

Of course O.O.

Though I looked at the water cuties applejack and flower wishes packages in one store today, dated 2015 and marked Hasbro Canada, with distribution information for Australia and New Zealand. So I guess that's why we have so many of them. We're getting the Commonwealth's offcuts as well...

aaa I love it when stuff like this happens! XD

The best finds I've had have been finding G3 Sparkleworks and Daisyjo at a TK Maxx in January 2012, about a week apart from each other. NO idea how they ended up there, but I wasn't complaining XD

I know of a store that until recently, still had G3.5 stock! Last year at Christmas I picked up a bunch of early G4 non-mane 6 singles. It's amazing what you find sometimes, and the Christmas break is the best time to find it!

A Rite Aid in my town had a lone Butter Pop in 2013, the box was a bit dented and dusty. It sat there for about a year and a half. Just when I was going to buy it they remolded the store and it was gone. :(

Love when this happens!!

I can say that from the various retailers I've worked for in the past, from small mall stores to big department stores, things get lost in the back rooms and employees find them years later. Especially the department stores with their huge stock rooms. It happens.

When G2's hit stores in 1998, I found a store that was selling a stash of MIP G1 Sparkle Pony Mail Orders. The only had three left, but when I asked if they had more, the girl said there had been a whole box full. Almost all gone before I got there, of course. Funniest part was, the store had no G2's for sale. Oh, and they were priced at $1.27 each.

Baby Ribbons and Hearts was sold off in the UK like that at the end of the line as well. My sister bought her in an unmarked bag at a stationery store for about £1 or something like that.

I also remember the US ponies bagged with grey card featuring a rainbow that appeared across second hand markets and through traders in the mid 1990s. Unfortunately I wasn't lucky enough to find mail order ponies like TAF babies here, though some places did. We had the Slumber Party ponies, minus Pillow Talk. Pink Dreams came with her wings attached to a piece of cardboard, so my Pink Dreams has her wings from new and I am her first owner, albeit the set was never properly sold here ;)

Baby Nightcap was also one of many ponies bagged and shoved inside the Kitchen on clearance. Weird but true. All kinds of things were shoved in as extras with the Kitchen, apparently...

I was recently in a toy store in a small town that still has toys from the 80's, 90's and 00's for sale at their original price.  They had a ton of original Sylvanian Families couches and wardrobes.  Sadly there were a lot of old plush toys that have been sitting on high shelves for literally decades and are covered in dust and dirt.  There was a big plush elephant on clearance for $30.  Mould on the tusks, fur thick with dust.  You would have to pay someone to take it. It was like stepping back in time.

I normally can find way old ponies at drug stores mostly because you know not being a toy store they don’t move as much stock. My TRU does still have a bunch of the wedding line left
