Title: Need help with Ebay seller ASAP!
Post by: ponybabe on March 13, 2012, 01:30:45 PM
Actually I'm asking this for my husband since it's his purchase that has gone wrong :(
So my husband purchased on the 29th of February a couple of dolls for me as an early birhday present, yay :frolic: He waited a bit on payment because unfortunately he's a bit of a procrastinater so he first paid on the 5th of March and didn't think any more of it. So one would think this was fine since it's within 7 days (seller didn't state any time period for payment in the auction so isn't the default 7 days?).

So today I asked my husband if he had yet received an email on when my new dolls would be sent. He then told me that it looks like he got his money refunded so I'm thinking why :what:  I check his Ebay account and in his message inbox is a "unpaid item case" that was opened on the 5th of March and says he must pay by the 9th of March or else   So I ask him to log onto his PayPal account and sure enough, he DID pay on the 5th of March like he remembered but she refunded the same day AND opened the case, all on the 5th of March
So is it just me or is something terribly wrong here :yikes: :what:

Is there any advice on what can be done??

Oh yeah, I'm pretty sure she/he has sold the dolls to another buyer. The last set was BIN'ed on the 4th of March so we have a sneaking suspicion that she just sold his set without waiting. I'm like 95% sure the seller had 6 sets and all of a sudden it says 7 sets sold and the auction has ended.
Ok the case has been closed the 5th of March (same day it was opened) but otherwise it stated:

"We have opened an unpaid item case for Coffret cadeau Monster High Cléo de Nile et Deuce Gorgon.
visitors can't see pics , please register or login
If payment isn't received by 09-Mar-12, the seller may withdraw from the contract and you would no longer be entitled to receive this item. Additionally, an unpaid item may be recorded on your account, which could lead to your account being suspended.

If you've paid and believe payment should have been received by now, please contact Customer Support
." So if the seller sold the item to someone else after being paid, isn't there something wrong? So shouldn't the seller should be obliged to send the item if she/he was paid, it's not our problem they refunded the same day he paid and created this whole mess.

The only thing you can really do is contact the seller. At this point it might be too late as it's past the 9th. If this has put an unpaid strike on the account, you will need to talk to ebay.

Yeah my husband should have really checked his messages sooner but he's the distracted type :throw:

How can I see on his account if he has a strike? He has not received any feedback from the seller, that's all I can see. That and it says next to the item: "Payment was recorded and this unpaid item case has been closed." So why the refund on the same day of payment and selling the paid for item to someone else???

I'm just really upset that the seller acted in this manner, it's very strange to refund payment and open a case all on the same day :what:

It sounds like the seller was being very shady. But again, have you contacted them? You have to start by contacting them, and ebay will tell you the same thing. Send the seller a message and ask them why thyey did what they did.

I have written to them today but am afraid I was rather enraged when I wrote the message and probably wasn't as diplomatic as I could have been :yikes: So I'm not sure how the seller will take it but I was just really mad that the seller acted so strangely and felt like we were being cheated.

I can only think at this point that your hubby paid past her payment due time and she refunded the money.

I know some sellers open the dispute and relist the item right away instead of waiting the four days it takes to close the case.

Do you have a link to the auction?

But she didn't contact him or let him know that she had a time limit and there wasn't any time limit in the auction e.g. "payment is expected within 3 days." So we assumed he had 7 days. It's also fishy that the seller stated 6 sets and suddenly it's 7? Also, the seller opened the case after she sold the set, the case was opened the 5th and the last set was sold on the 4th.

Here's a link:

So my secret's out, I've been starting to collect Monster High dolls :P

I'll update when I hear from the seller. Any chance I can complain to Ebay if the seller has a horrible excuse  I still feel like the seller has done something very wrong here. Perhaps they opened the case to justify selling our set and then closed it. But it still all happened after they sold our set.

My husband is really mad and is planning on giving the seller negative feedback since he feels the seller has not been fair and has acted badly.

I agree with ponylady - this is probably what happened, although it does sound like something was amiss with this sale   I guess it might become more clear when the seller responds :awake:   I think in future if I were you  I would also keep an eye on things when your hubby buys stuff, to make sure he pays ASAP or at least contacts the seller to let them know when he is gonna pay if it isnt right away ;)

Perhaps but I still feel the seller should of put some sort of limit in the auction, that they want payment within 3 days or whatever they feel is best. It's impossible to know when his/her latest payment day is when there is no information of this in the auction  There wasn't any communication either, the seller just opened an "unpaid item" case after sending the money back the same day he paid and then closed the case again shortly thereafter, a few minutes after

Don't think it'll be a probably anymore since he now refuses to buy stuff from Ebay and is seriously talking about closing his acount :(

Well.. Standard payment deadlines are 3 days. Ebay allows sellers to open unpaid item disputes when an item hasn't been paid for within 4 days. So, I think that given those standards, a seller is within their right to follow those Ebay guidelines without posting a notice on their auction.
Should they still post a notice? Yes.
Should they contact the buyer before taking this step? Yes

Unfortunately, not every seller has time to contact every buyer who fails to pay promptly. The fact of the matter is, You  (I use a general "you", not a personal "you". This is by no means a personal attack) the buyer placed the bid. You knew the auction was ending. You knew that you won it, because ebay notified you. You should have been responsible in keeping track of your purchases.

Ebay has made things so hard for sellers, that in order to sell on ebay, you have to be super careful and super meticulous. Ebay always sides with the sellers and ebay does everything they can to make things easier on sellers, while punishing buyers.

Perhaps the seller in this situation was just trying to make sure they got their money. Regardless of why or what or how.. They still acted only by refunding the money and then opening an unpaid item strike. You really should contact ebay about this if the sellers response doesn't satisfy you.
