Title: How common are most male dolls?
Post by: ApertureScience on January 19, 2013, 09:06:05 AM
I saw a Scaris Deuce and walked away, but if he's rare, I might go back and get him and sell him later on.  Are the boys typically really rare or sought after?

Yeah, they're sought after. I'd go get him.

Yes, boys are hard to find! The older ones are becoming very hard to find. If you see him again, I would grab him.

Great!  Thanks for letting me know.  I'll go back today and see if he's still there. *crosses fingers*

I would personally run back and get him.

Double what she said! Boys are not easy to find anyways and become even harder to find as time goes on.. Few months ago I snagged Jackson on evilbay for $32, and even then I thought I got lucky because for evilbay that not too bad a price.

Only walk away if the boy doll is in your hands!  :-p  Ah well, you know for next time.

Yes, definitely pick him up! The boys are always short-packed, and pulled off the shelves before they even had time to sell. That particular Deuce is also very special because he's the first Deuce to have articulated wrists!

"Male Dolls" and "Common" are two words in MH that are NEVER EVER used in the same sentence.

Out of all the male dolls, I've just wanted to get a Jackson, and I have never seen one on the shelves, ever.

I've only seen Gil, and that was years ago. Have never seen Deuce, Holt, Clawd...

I went back the last night.  One day after I saw him, and he was gone!  Ugh! *bangs head on desk*

This isn't the first time I've had an issue with a male doll:  I bought Jackson from KMart once for about $20 and then went around for a price check on sites like Amazon and eBay.  When I saw the price was the same there, I figured, well, I don't want him and apparently his isn't rare or sought after, so I'll return him.  Needless to say, I'm regretting that decision immensely now...

It's funny how common they used to be in the early days of Monster High. Oh, how those Deuce/Cleo sets and Holts warmed those lonely store shelves for months... :silly:

Nowadays, everyone knows the boys will eventually go rare and snatch them up at first sight.

It's probably the reason why they are shortpacked now. Mattel doesn't want to take chances of them warming the shelves ever again. xD -_-

My experience with Monster High guys is the following: people hate Clawd.
Haha, at least the people that go shopping at my local go-to toystore. Everytime I've been there, there was a Clawd army staring back at me

It's odd, since I like him the best out of all the guys (Gil being No. 2). Must be because I'm a dog person ;)

I hardly ever saw Clawd or Holt. Deuce was around a lot.
