Title: Flimsy Wings Derby! (Photo Contest)
Post by: Crowning_Glory13 on December 28, 2017, 02:52:44 PM: I finally have more time...so you know what that means....PHOTO CONTEST!

This contest is for windy wings, summer wings, and flutter ponies. Those flimsy wings that always tend to break...let’s show them off....why cause I make replacement wings. (Still working on a windy/summer wing) So why our wing ponies...because the prize is a free pair of custom flutter pony wings made by me!!!!!:)

1st place winner will recive a wing of their choice. I can also make a special pair for them as well:) AND a knitted item of their choice. Check out trades for pictures. http://mlparena.com/index.php/topic,381689.msg1576786.html#msg1576786

2nd and 3rd runner winners will get to choose a custom wing that is already pictured, or a custom knitted project of their choosing.

4th and 5th Runner Up winners will get a huge discount on Any of my trade or sale items.

On to the contest.

1. Sign up with a winger of any kind, wingless, flutter pony, windy wing, summer wing, or any custom that is to represent a flimsy wing pony (yes I am starting to call them flimsy wings). You can sign up any pony under the flimsy wing umbrella. If you have questions just as in the forum:)

2. Yes I can have multiple Flurries or Morning Glories, so don’t let duplicates stop you from entering:)

3. This can be a bit of a commitment, because you are posting pictures for a theme. There is a new theme each week. New this game is all themes have been listed with dates below.

4. Each theme will be voted on. The highest votes will pass to the next round. Just votes no added surprises...well except the end. The voting and new photo due date kind of run very short. This is why I post the themes so anyone could work ahead. It could be your benefit. If I have ALOT of entries more than one can be eliminated. If you have a picture post it:)

5. Wild card can happen. I love pictures and sometimes you can’t do all the rounds, get knocked out, or just want to jump in for fun....well now you can:) one lucky pony will get a wild card slot. This will happen when we get down to the top 6 or 10. If you have been cheering ponies on, submitting a photo now and then, I just might send you a pm with the option to enter!

6. You keep the same pony through the whole derby.

7. You post your photo in the theme forum. So your first photo will be posted here, and I make a second post for the second theme. This is where you will post your second photo.

8. A pony with wings is not required. So if you have a wingless Flutter pony or windy wing, they are perfectly fine. This is a contest for wings after all:)

So sign up your flimsy pony and let’s have some fun:)

Theme 1 is your sign up. It is a solo photo of your flimsy wing pony. Any and all props can be used, but no extra ponies in the photo.
Photo due January 13. The Voting starts Jan 14. Voting ends Jan 18.

Theme 2 Rianbow. This can be a group or solo picture. This picture can have all the colors, focus on one color, or a few colors at a time. As long as we look at the picture and say that is a picture representing color/rainbow.
Photo due Jan 20. Voting starts Jan 21. Voting ends Jan 25.

Theme 3 Twinkle/Sparkle. Anything that shines, gives your pony sparkly, even the stars in the sky. Make you pony sparkle. This is a solo shot.
Photo due Jan 27. Voting starts Jan 28. Voting ends Feb 1

Theme 4 Scene It. Recreate a scene from a movie, a musicical, a play, tv show, or make up your own show. This is a group shot.
Photo due Feb 3. Voting starts Feb 4. Voting ends Feb 8.

Theme 5 Love. It’s the heart shape time of year, so show some loved. Maybe dancing in candy hearts, star crossed lovers...anything that show loves is your photo. Can be group or solo shot.
Photo due Feb 10. Voting starts Feb 11. Voting ends Feb 15.

More themes will come once I know how many rounds we will have. I am easy to communicate so ask questions, help or if you have delays:)

You can post when you can and maybe you will gain the wild card spot:)

If there is a delay just let me know. I might be able to do an extension.

If there is no communication or picture by the due date then it is an elimination.

I can't take a picture quite yet as I'm out if town, but I will get one as soon as I get back, which will be a couple days. I do have a few question though. For group shots, are we allowed to include ponies that aren't flimsy winged? Do the group shots have a minimum requirement of ponies? Can participants vote, and if we can, can we vote for ourselves?

Group can be anything. G1, g2, g4, etc it can also be carebear. Basically a group shot is more than just your pony, but not a prop like a fork. Unless it's a talking folk in an enchanted castle then it's a group shot. Hope that makes sense.

Yes participants can vote. Yes you can vote for yourself. I do tend to let voters have multiple choices. So if I get 20 contestants I might give the option of 7-10 participants you can vote for:)

I hope I explain them well.

It's a photography contest based on ponies with fragile wings! You pick a pony and make pictures that fit each theme.

This! Basically, take themed pictures of your winger(s).

Flutters are wingers ;) Winger is just a broad term for flutters, summer wings, and windy wings.

It was hard to get her to wake up during sunlight hours to get a good picture, but we managed to grab just enough of the sunset to get an entry picture! She loves the quiet and calm of the night, but she promises to be less shy and nocturnal so we can get some good shots of her. She is excited to make new friends with the other contestants!

I don't know how she was able to stay outside for so long, she said something about the sun's rays and magic, but then when she came inside she immediately snuggled close to the heater. I think she's trying to play tough...

Skydancer is excited but also a little nervous to be competing in the contest. She has a big heart, is very loyal and is always ready to help out a friend. Skydancer is really looking forward to making new friends and wishes the other contestants good luck.

She's also a little camera shy but she was drawn to the twinkling lights and agreed to land just long enough for a photo.

I did add one more detail. It is not required for your pony to have wings. So if your flutter pony is wingless or you windy wings have no wings. This is a contest for wings after all, they just have to be based on a flimsy wing pony.

Thank you!! :) I adore your picture of High Flyer among the clouds, what a fun shot with perfect props!

Sun Glider and Sky Dancer are looking fabulous too! Ponies in the snow always make me happy (we don't get any of that around here!) and the Christmas lights really give Sky Dancer a fantastic and dramatic look!

If the contestant number stays low, there will be a twerk in the contest. All dates will stay the same. The second theme will stay the same, but there will be no drop outs. So the contest will go by a collection of votes, with a surprise vote at the end:)

As of now all contestants get a discount on any if my sales/trades. So if you hope for a win let me know I can hold your item or take it off my ebay.

If there is going to be a change, it will appear on the voting forum. Theme two is staying the same, but the other themes might change due to the number of contestants. All themes will be set on the voting forum:)

I hope for more, so I change nothing, but change is ok too.

Thank you guys! :hug: I am really bummed I don't have the time - I even know who I would enter and have loose ideas for some of the themes .... but I have to resist because I really need to keep my focus. I'll enjoy being a spectator to this contest, though, and I hope there'll be another contest another time where I have the time to enter :)

It's made from a plastic bottle with iridescent nail foil on it :) I also threw on some other stuff like glitter, pearl mica powder, iridescent flake nail polish.

It's made from a plastic bottle with iridescent nail foil on it :) I also threw on some other stuff like glitter, pearl mica powder, iridescent flake nail polish.

My own Rosedust, riding fellow introduced-in-a-1986-movie leader Rodimus Prime. He's not a pony, so he counts as a prop for this contest's purposes right?

My lamp isn't very strong, so the background ended up really dark. Just pretend it's a baroque portrait or something :P
