I'm sad. Three of my ponies developped nasty head discoloration. I never had them in broad sunlight. My "toy corner" is in my bedroom, the shelves are always in the shade. And yet Snowcatcher, Dewdrop Dazzle and Luna I developped dark heads. Snowcatcher is the worst. Her head even has a brownish area around the hairline.
None of my G3s have this problem and they are older than the G4s. Are some G4s just prone to discoloration? I know that Feathermay oftentimes came like that in box. If the same happens to my Rainbow Flash I'll be severely pissed :/

I think it's likely; most of my older G4s (before the tails started feeling cheap and nasty) have matte heads and shiny bodies, indicating that they're made from different plastics. I think someone tried to sunfade a pink Celestia and the body faded to white very quickly, but the head wouldn't fade at all, or vice-versa (it was on here somewhere, I'm sure...) so I'd think this is why.

I have LOADS of mismatched ponies. Sometimes I find counter parts and swap heads. It is very annoying. As far as fading to become mismatch; I think my Apple Jacks have gotten worse and they were not near a window.
-
My Luna is pretty bad too.
Hydrogen peroxide helps with my G4s. But so sorry to hear about Snowcatcher
-
Of my daughter's two TS (both the tinsel hair with the glasses and book set), one has a pale purple head compared to the body. It's annoying, but for a 4yo, I don't think she noticed it. It also happened to her TS EG doll, which is odd, now that I think about it.

That much discoloring already?? Oh no, now I'm concerned for my ponies back home...
-
I have a Twilight who I refer to as "Ugly Twilight". She is banished to the back.
-
I have a couple. My Feather May's head was a totally different color right out of the box, and of all of my g4s she has by far the worst mismatch.
-
Well, I haven't looked at my G4s for a while. They're tucked away in storage. But if I remember correctly, they had mismatches between head and body the day I bought them, and they're still MIP. Wonder if it got worse?
-
Yup, I picked up a second hand purple g4 (too lazy to look up the name) and Hasrro still hasn't gotten purple pigment to stabilize... Totally noticeable head/body mismatch. And the hair is very faded...
-
Yeah most of mine had a mismatch from new, especially Feathermay, who I got with the season 1 collector's box. I haven't noticed it getting any worse yet, but mine have bee packed away, out of sunlight for the most part.

i have two l ike this.. feather may wasnt really bad.. but yah kinda..
i did notice tho that even on SR's site.. the feather may there has head issues.
i wonder if they are all like that?

I tried that. It was disasterous! Her body is a cute pale lilac but the head is just as pink.
I had a lot of trouble with Twilights, Feathermay, and some blue ponies. Even my Daisy Dreams has a slight mismatch.
-
I have a Twilight from the very first wave - her head is a completely different shade from her body now. Its taken 3+ years to get that way but its a crazy difference.
Cheap plastic, mass manufacture and the low production costs does not a quality collector item make :P
-
My G3 Breezies have the same problem (squishy plastic for head, hard plastic for body) and they are likewise mismatched. :\ Very sad because it really affects how they display.
-
Uh oh. My Snowcatcher has been in storage for a long time now. I had no idea she was prone to that. :(
I remember Feathermay and Twilight being the worst offenders, often mismatched while still on store shelves. It's the reason why I never bothered getting Feathermay despite liking her design.
-
another reason why i like the new head mold ponies  i think i am the only one here who does :lookround:
anyways the new molds all have perfect matching head body colours.......so far.. not like the others  95% of them have mismatched head/body and pretty much all of those were bought that way too. feathermay being way worse then twilight coming in second, it was so of putting when i first started collecting them.
great supporter of the new head mold :bigups:
