Title: What do you call this, double stamped symbol or something?
Post by: JasonP on July 06, 2018, 01:26:31 PM
I have a pony Seashell, that I think has a double stamped symbol on one side?

https://photos.app.goo.gl/QdCYjCJhNPdi1L8f8

On the other side the symbol is normal. What do you call this?
thanks ^^

Oh thats neat! My childhood Barnacle didn't get a symbol stamped on one side of him but that was very different than getting stamped twice!

I've never seen that before. She's cool!

How about Twice-as-Many or Twice-as-Awesome Seashell?

Looks like a QC fail in the Italy MLP factory :) Very awesome. It looks a lot like seaweed instead of shells!

Haha, twice as awesome seashell sounds awesome xD I'm gonna go with that.

Do all G1s have stamps on both sides?

What's a QC fail? o.o

I love Seashell! Her symbol is a factory error.

QC fail = Quality Control fail.

Italy ponies were hand finished, it looks like your Seashell was double stamped by mistake. It is quite common for Italy ponies to have misprinted symbols as they were hand stamped, but I don’t think I’ve seen a pony like this before.

Yes, all G1 (generation 1) ponies have symbols on both sides (there are a few exceptions though)

Aw man! This is so cool! I like factory flaw ponies that slipped by quality control. They’re so unique. And yeah, almost all g1 ponies have both sides. I think it’s quite nice, and kinda a shame they don’t do it in the newer toys. One cutie mark, while it’s easier for my simple self to figure out the display side, is kinda strange to me.

Right? xD unique factory flawed ponies are awesome. I've never thought about it until now...
I also think its a lot better if they have two... and its a real shame that the new ones are all so small... its like the ponies get smaller with each generation. Thats why I prefer the G1s. I got one G4 as a freebie when i bought a larger lot a few weeks ago and its so tiny o.o its this small, pitiful creature of darkness... i feel so bad for it

Sadly factory errors are more common than they should be. I do enjoy them.
I have at least 4  with factory errors - probably more, but I'm quite out of touch with my collection, deciding what to do with it. I really don't want to sell, but I'm rapidly losing interest. I've invested too much $$$ and time into my collection I know I can't part with it.

Don't sell your collection... Mine was also sitting there for over 20 years without interest, but suddenly I got into it and now I'm really glad I kept them. Just leave them alone for a while and see what happens xD Otherwise you might really regret it later on...

Maybe I should keep my eyes open for factory errors... I really like them x3

Yes, errors are fun and prototypes are expensive!

The most recent to sell on ebay went for the cost of a used car!

I'm sure there are still many to be discovered.

Bidding has ended on this item.

.__. i cant see it anymore... aw. I'll google them xD maybe I'll find something. Who buys a pony worth a car? o.0; I mean seriously....

Okay so I googled some and found a few on my little wiki... I guess theyre just so expensive because they dont really exist. but with most its no wonder they were left as prototypes xD

You should be able to scroll down to see the listing, it was 5 ponies, so it's not like someone spend 8.5k just on one.

;__; I love that pony, I wish I knew of it before the ended auction (Although I guess I couldn't of gone THAT high, lol. A couple grand, maybe...)

haha, thanks xD Yes, it's a very interesting process, though meanwhile I have already bought 5 new ponys off this second hand website we have in my country. It's really great. they have so many ponys. I never knew that there were so many G1s in Austria

I talked to someone a few weeks ago who said they played with  prototype ponies as a kid (idk what gen) but they all ended up getting donated cuz it didn't seem like a big deal.

Agreed! There are still new ponies showing up. The ones in the auction have been around since at least 2003 to my knowledge :) the seller is a very old school collector.

Very nice pony you have there - congratulations! Factory error ponies are awesome because they are unique  :)

thats a lot of unknown ponies... But I think I will stick to regular ones for now xD maybe a few costumes... but thats about it o.0 I guess collecting such insanely expensive ones only pays off once you already have everything else.

thanks nightglider ^^ I quite like it too, even if i never noticed it before xD

Anomaly pony!  QC slips up sometimes, but I like the fact that these ponies are in circulation because they're so unique.
