i bought one just the other night and she should be shipping out this week ^-^ i'm so excited.
its the most money i've ever spent on a single pony and i feel a little sick after dropping that much on just 1 pony, but i HAD to have her!!!! HAD TO! and in the picture she looked AMAZING. someone was nice to offer her to me, i'm so happy with the purchase and the pony isn't even here yet! LOL!!!
i'm interested in seeing some mimic customs. i was trying to make one but she dried a sunshine yellow color last night. so i repainted her just now. this is what i got so far.

Oh wow, that baby Mimic is adorable! I just recently saw an auction of Party Time and Mimic go for only $68 for the two of em! I wish I still had the funds to bid on that when it was ending. :( Also incredibly jealous of all you Mimic owners, she's wonderful~

Here's my filly! She was my birthday present to myself, and I adore her, despite the pink highlighter marks on one side. She still has most of her twinkle in her eyes, which I love.
She's definitely my most expensive pony so far (7 Tales Clover and Slugger are tied for second) and I just adore her. I admit rarely feel regret for paying $80 for her.

Just by pure luck! If it hadn't been me it would have been someone else a second later. I was just doing my daily pony search on eBay and at the very top of the newly listed items I saw this pic with a BIN:

The package literally arrived like 2 days later and there was Mimic surrounded by G3 ponies! So weird! Without giving anything away I messaged the seller to thank her for the fast shipping and asked how one of the old ponies got in with all the newer ones. She just said that she had the older one and the new ones were ones that her daughter used to play with!
11 ponies for $16.75 shipped? Definitely no complaining here! Mimic does have a teeny tiny possible cancer spot but I'm not complaining about that either 'cause she's gorgeous otherwise!

WOW! How LUCKY and Unusual was that!!
She is beautiful...I seen a tip on here that someone had luck cleaning cancer spots. It made them lighter using baking soda and white vinegar on them...haven't tried it yet myself but going to SOON!

lol at first i was the same way! i didn't understand what all the fuss was, and thought "i don't really like her all that much.. what's the big deal?" but then i saw everyone posting pictures of theirs and it made me want her. i got a parakeet and asked what i should name her (pony themed) and some people suggested mimic (which fits her personality) so it stuck! and then i HAD to have one.

Yup! My sister is one of those people! She found her in a bag of other ponies at Goodwill, and paid (if I remember right) $2 for the entire bag. I got the joy of holding her and cleaning her up before she sold her off to help pay rent. :)

I made a Ponyville Mimic several years ago. She now lives with ImmortalPanda :good:

-As pictured with my Mimic.
Her eyes are hand-set. I gouged out the original pony eyes, inserted the gem and then used Super Sculpey to fill in and re-shape the area around the eye. That was actually great fun. XD They look purple in the photographs because I put an iridescent coating over the eyes, and the lighting really picked it up.

She was the first custom pony I ever made, so she has her fair share of faults, but I had a good time creating her. I wish I had better photos of her... at the time (2007) I only had my cell phone camera.

Holy frak, MOC Mimic? That is some serious pony loot.
The G4 customs look really good, too. I may consider buying one, or going so far as to attempt making one myself. Mimic's hair has a really nice colour combination, she's very easy to like.

Her production run was quite small, making her very sought after.
On an unrelated note, I had a mimic but I gave her to my charity shop. She had smooze, broken horn, haircuts and god knows what else.

She's not rare, maybe HTF, but certainly not rare. She's just very well loved after the cartoon. Her rarity is hyped up. If she was as rare as people make her out to be, there wouldn't be so damn many of her on ebay time after time.

i'm hoping once i get my next pay check that i can commission someone to make me a mimic blind bag custom. i saw someone a few months back had made one and i fell in love with it!!!! i'd even buy the bait for them to make her >.< i'm just not that great. i tried making a G1 mimic, but since then i've got a real mimic so i may hair the custom and sell her if anyone would want her. just gotta get the hair for her. she's not that great -.- if i had smaller paint brushes then she might be better.

I love TE ponies and made it a priority in my collecting to acquire all of the TEs.
I purchased a Mimic (in very good condition) in 2004 for slightly less than $25. I jumped on the first one I could afford, knowing that she fetched upwards of $75 (at the time). Over the years, I tracked down each TE pony (all in very good condition, I'm a little picky). The one who eluded me the most?
Bright Eyes.
Could not find her nor win an auction of her for YEARS. I finally got one in 2009, and I paid nearly $40, if memory serves. Still can't believe she was harder to find and more expensive than Mimic was for me, but there you go.

mimic was the first TE pony I got when I started re-collecting in '03. bright eyes was the last one I finally managed to get my hands on. I paid $50 for mimic, and $20 for bright eyes.

i paid $90 for my mimic (i still tell my family i traded for her LOL! mom would be sick if she knew i dropped that kind of money on 1 pony!) so nobody has to know >_>
but i don't regret it at all!!! she's tied for my favorite. her and applejack are both #1 in my book. especially long haired applejack! so pretty *-*

This is so true!! I found Mimic easier to track down than both Bright Eyes and a nice Quackers! I dont believe she is "super rare" either just very very sought after! She is such a lovely pony though - its understandable that so many people would like her in their collection

Back in the day there was a "Cult of MOC Mimic" button that collectors could put on their pony web pages. It was a joke, of course, but pony collectors do practically worship MOC Mimic. Does anyone else remember those?

I got Mimic for my birthday when I was a child, my 8th birthday party . . . I also got Braided Beauty and Bashful Bonnets that year. I did NOT LIKE HER AT ALL! Even after she had her own MLP Episode. I got Mimic for my birthday when I was a child, my 8th birthday party . . . I also got Braided Beauty and Bashful Bonnets that year. I did NOT LIKE HER AT ALL! Even after she had her own MLP Episode. ...It makes me laugh (happy laugh) you didnt like Mimic. She was one of the only TEs I have never seen in person and I threw kiddy tantrums the store never had her LOL...but then the same can be said about a lot of the TAF and 'wingers'...Michigan, at least where I lived, seem to have a pony shortage at all times.

I sort-of wanted Mimic, but this thread made me REALLY want her and I totally can't afford her, so I've decided that if I can't have Mimic, I'mma make my own! xD
So I've noticed her hair has 4 (?) stripes of color in it. Can anyone tell me the Dollyhair match for the second (pink/white) stripe? I have the other three (Sugarberry, Envy, and Electric Banana, according to the site), but they don't have that fourth color listed.

I'm still sprucing up my Mimic <3 She's queen of my herd and was a present to me from some beloved friends!! She had her brush and ribbon too ^o^ I wish her streak was still pink though ;o;

Here's my birthday Mimic! Got her at the thrift store for $0.16 :biggrin: (Yep you're reading that right!) and there went all my pony luck for the rest of ever lol. She really is such a pretty girl.
