I was looking at an Italian comic book and was surprised to see Spunky the camel! As well as Crumpet and Angel. They were even drawn to look fuzzy. :lovey: Were they sold in Italy or was this another case of the comics taunting children with ponies they couldn't get? :P

I am trying to remember whether Crumpet and her set are on the 1987 Italian insert I have. I know mimic's set are. I don't think the Pony Friends are. I'm going home next week (Btw I will also check and PM you about your comics then too xD) so I'll check. I have this vague feeling they might be but am not 100%...

Wow, I thought the So Softs were only sold in America and maybe Canada! I didn't think fuzzy ponies ever came to Europe at all. *intrigued*
-
@shaz: They came to Europe ^.^ I remember them from when I was a kid(in Norway). I didn’t have any myself, because I didn’t care for them much back then. But I do remember my neighbour had one. No idea which one though :P
I can’t help with the initial question though, but following this thread because I’m trying to find out more about the European SOSoft releases ;)

Yeah, there's a general incorrect assumption that because the UK didn't get something, nowhere in Europe or the surrounds could have had them, but it's really a lot more complex.
I know SS ponies (at least the first set) were also sold in Israel, because my friend has a SS Shady from her childhood still in storage back at her parents over there.
Israel isn't exactly Europe, but it isn't exactly not Europe either, so...

I'm trying to remember if I've seen any So-Softs in the Italian comics besides the 2nd set . . . I feel like I've seen So-Soft Sundance? (As in, drawn furry like a So-Soft.) But I'm not sure about the first set like Wind Whistler etc . . .
I saw a pony who I THOUGHT was Scrumptious but it turned out to be Random Non-Existent Background Pony (along with her friends Wristwatch Pony and Anchor Pony.) Different color scheme than Scrumptious but same symbol, but I guess there's only so many ways to draw a watermelon.

My mom got me SS Fifi when she was in France for something. So I assume they were sold there too.

Yes, the 1987 set of SS ponies are on the Italian insert I have. Can't get pics right now but they also show a slightly fuzzy line on the drawing to indicate fur. Their names are:
Crumpet: Pasticcino
Twilight: Trottolino
Hippety Hop: Bambagino
Taffy: Zuccherino
Bangles: Bottoncino
Angel: Sofficino
Megan and Sundance (aka Pony Ballerino) are also drawn on the cover of the insert. Megan is wearing the dress released in the US, Sundance shows no sign of fuzz in this drawing.
Lofty is also shown inside Paradise Estate, though unnamed.
