I very much want Dream Castle and Paradise Estate, but my current earning capacity (recycling money and a spring seasonal job) is not likely to get me the purchasing power for them any time soon.
So I am asking for measurements of the walls and doors and roofs and crenelations and such, and ideally tracings of round and arched openings, to use in making homemade surrogates out of cardboard and such.
My thanks in advance to anyone willing.
ETA: On reflection I would like the measurements for the Show Stable too. I might be able to afford that at some point, but it could be a while and it also seems like it might be a more manageable starter as far as these building projects go.

This sounds like it could be really cool! A lot of work, but really cool!

Thanks! I also plan on doing custom playsets of the Princess Ponies' castle and of Flutter Valley (at the least select bits of it like the courtyard of the Sun Stone)

It's been almost a week since the last post, so I hope a bump is permissible. Especially with my having expanded the parameters.

Hey, actually, i found a dream castle at the local thrift store for $12. If I risk it, i might be able to get it for half price. It seems really nice. Interested?
Also, once i survive thanksgiving, i can start finding some measurements. Paradise Estate is out right now, so i will start there.
-
Hum... I currently don't have any cash period, but I'll be cashing the recycling on Friday and that should be worth at least $40 so maybe it'll be enough for that plus shipping.. It is quite tempting.
And thank you for being willing to get the Paradise Estate measurements.
-
If it is still there the next time i go, i will get it. If nothing else, we ca work out a payment option.
Where are you?
-
Southern California.
-
Hmmm, a little ways from Minnesota! Does California have a meet-up? Those are great places to score good deals!
-
I don't know, and I probably wouldn't be able to make it. I don't drive, plus I have college..
I kinda figured the distance would be a problem for the deal.. I suppose I can check my local thrift stores and hope.
-
It's not really a problem on my end, unless we lived two hours apart, i was going to have to mail it anyways!
Dream Castle has a lot of twists and turns, i would probably end up tracing and mailing a lot of the castle pattern, and getting this bargain castle seems easier.
But you should look into meet-ups, you could even host it, then you don't have to drive! It isn't as hard as it sounds!
-
Well yeah, but distance can affect cost and even dismantled it would be a bit bulky.. I guess we'll see how it goes.
Why would you have to mail the tracings? No scanner?
I'm still stuck living with my parents and younger brothers, so I somehow doubt I could host one..
-
I live with my husband and toddler, and they are actually a lot of help. I understand, it doesn't work for everyone, just something to think about.
I buy patterns online, and often when they print up, they are the wrong size. I don't really have good access to a scanner, either. Maybe someone else can help with that? I have no problem mailing a traced newspaper, either. Just need some time!
-
Oh, yeah, a lot of online patterns fail to specify the proper print resolution settings..
I do have a scanner, and I have a way to make sure stuff prints at the right size. I draw or paste (in the case of stickers) a couple of the correct measurements on a piece of paper and scan that in, and sizematch the pattern or whatever to the measurements in the scan.

Mine are in storage so I can't access them right now but I would highly recommend thrifting and checking craigslist and other local sources. I got my Show Stable, Nursery, Pretty Parlor and Waterfall all from one person on Kijiji (similar to Craigslist) and then I found my Paradise Estate and another Lullaby Nursery at thrift stores. All really good deals and no shipping costs. It takes patience but I always check if I'm by a thrift store.
That sounds like so much fun to create your own in the mean time and I hope you share pics of your progress.

Oh, I look for 'em every time I go thrifting. But the only MLP playsets I've seen at thrift in the years I've been collecting (unless G3 Scootaloo's RC scooter counts as a playset) have been G3.5 Ponyville on rare occasions, and I'm not interested in those.

That's too bad, hopefully some cross your way one of these days.

I have a complete Paradise Estate and routinely drive to Southern California (San Diego & Anaheim) - If you ever want to chat about a payment plan for it I'm up for that! I can also help with getting you measurements since I was going to take it out for photos.
-
Given my lack of regular income I probably wouldn't be able to satisfy you. But the measurements would be nice at least.
