Title: What else do you collect?
Post by: scarletjul on June 14, 2017, 05:06:10 PM
I think I put this in the right place.  :)

While I love my pony collection, I collect a host of other things.  Right now, I've moved away from ponies and have been focusing on my other collections, including:

American Girl
Sylvanian/Calico Critters
Disney

But I also collect theatre memorabilia (playbills and such,) and anything else that I find interesting.

So...  what do you collect?  :)

Lego
Ponies
Books...kind of!

Lego is the big thing, my kiddos are super into them.  ^.^.

I tend to have a collector mentality about a lot of things. Some of my collections include:
Other 80s girls toys (Rose Petal Place, Lady Lovely Locks, Little Pretties, etc)
Crystals
ABJD
Plushies
Stickers
Japanese fashion (yeah I tend to collect the clothes more than wear them haha)

Blythe - I keep telling myself to stop because CWC's attitude towards their Western fans hasn't been the greatest, they're expensive and I'm running out of shelf space...and they manage to crumble my resolve every time...

BeGoths - I'm not a fan of all the characters, but I like enough of them to consider myself a collector! With their high-quality clothes and beautiful, unique facial screening, I think it's a huge shame that they didn't stick around for longer.

Furbies - I know a lot of people find them creepy, but I think that's part of what I like about them. I've always been attracted to things that straddle a fine line between sweet and unsettling, and I think Furby hits that mark really well.

Dolls that catch my interest in general, particularly rabbit-themed dolls

As for non-toy things, I make it a point to have at least one bow or hair accessory for every outfit. My head just feels naked if I don't. :P

All my collections are toys! Most of my collections revolve around things from my childhood, during the late 90's and early 2000's.

Action figures - Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones
Super Mario figures/plush. Especially Yoshi! Other World of Nintendo things have snuck in as well, like Animal Crossing and Zelda.
Hamtaro figures/plush
Pokemon figures/plush
Dolls - I used to collect MH and Disney dolls, but those aren't active anymore. I have some others, but I'm not actively them now....unless you count action figs as dolls!
Stuffed animals - I like ones that are cute but realistic (not too stylized). I'm really picky about their faces!

That's actually an interesting conversation to have. My honest opinion is that action figures are dolls, simply renamed so that it's more acceptable in society's eyes for boys to play with them. :P This is my opinion purely because I haven't heard anyone be able to articulate the exact definition of "action figures" versus "dolls" that there aren't counterexamples for.

Too much stuff. Toooo much stuff. Our house is jampacked with stuff between my partner and me. We both tend to hoard things we like over time.

Dolls
MH and EAH, mostly. Also quite a few Novi Stars, and hybrids that I made of Novi heads and MH bodies. Dipping my toes into Pullip and BJDs lately as well.

Action figures
Mostly S.H. Figuarts and Figmas, but also several Star Wars Black Series figures, some random MotCU figures, Nendoroids, and so forth. My partner also collections Transformers, so they're mixed in with the action figures in our display cases.

Childhood Toys
I have a slew of toys that I saved from when I was a kid, and somehow they stayed in pretty good condition all that time. This includes Littlest Pet Shop toys and Polly Pockets in terms of collections, but also random one-off toys like my Cinderella Castle or my lone Sky Dancer.

Static Figures / Statuettes
Mostly for video games that we like, but also for anime on occasion. We have multiple KOS-MOS figures, because she's just. Too. Cool.

Board Games
We bought a bed that has a hydraulic lift system, so that we could use it to store our linens. This is only logical, because our linen closet is full of board games. Our biggest sets include Dominion and its many expansions, Arkham Horror, and Nightfall. But we have a lot of other games that are one-shots, or that we don't have the full run of (such as Mage Knight or our various decks of Fluxx and Smash Up).

Paintings / Art
This one is the most personal collection, I think. We have paintings from a lot of our friends who are artists (including my partner's mother and best friend, and my best friend from overseas). The canvases are all hung sans frames, and we need to get some pieces from other friends matted and hung, but we're running short on hanging room. We also buy cool art that we find at local galleries while travelling, or at events. We found a really neat metalworking shop on a recent trip, for example.

Lolita Fashion
I used to wear lolita pretty much daily, but that's kind of gone out the window with my health issues in the last year or two. I have been trying to pare down and sell things lately, actually, but the closet in my sewing room is full of nothing but lolita.

-Model Horses are the big non-pony collection for me!  I mostly collect Breyer, but I enjoy other brands as well so I have quite a bit of variety in my herd!
-Beatles related items!  This involves everything from books to memorabilia to records.  The highlights of my collection include Ringo Starr's autograph, a piece of a bath towel owned by John Lennon, a drawing and autograph from Ron Campbell who worked on both Yellow Submarine and the Beatles Cartoon, and a Wings "London Town" album autographed by Wings guitarist Denny Lane (also of the Moody Blues).  As a side note, I collect other music memorabilia as well (mostly 60s and 70s stuff) but the Beatles are really the focus.
-Anime/Manga is another interest of mine.  In addition to the books and DVDs I collect merch (both official and fan made stuff), too.  I'm mostly into sports anime, but I do like other things, too.  I especially like small blind box figures and key chains.  I also like figmas, but I only get them if I'm suuuper crazy about a character.
-Plushies!  I love plushies.  I honestly have way too many but I can't stop!  Beanie Boos are a particular interest of mine right now.  Also Alpacasso are favorites of mine!!  Love them!
-I also collect some dolls.  I am pretty picky about what dolls I collect, so my doll collection is pretty small but I quite like all of them.  I have some MH/EAH, Pinkie Cooper, some Equestria Girls, and Barbies.
-Books!  No real rhyme or reason here, I just go for what I enjoy!  And I enjoy a lot of books so there's quite a bit of variety here!
-Other smaller collections include Bella Sara cards, Kinder Egg toys, and concert T-Shirts.

Littlest Pet Shop toys!   I've run out of G4 MLP to collect for the time being, so I've moved my focus to buying Littlest Pet Shops - mostly the G2 pets, but some G4's as well :3

I have other collections (or sort-of collections), but I consider them to be complete  :satisfied:

I collect.. collections. XD The simplest way to put it would prolly be to say I'm a toy collector, I guess. I collect:

- Sylvanian Families (Calico Critters), used to be my main collection but I've slowed down on them in the last few years (partly since I've got all/most of what I wanted and also because the newer ones leave a lot to be desired >.>)
- Dolls (Monster High, some EAH, Pinkie Cooper, Novi Stars, some Azone PureNeemos, Catwalk Kitties, misc anime dolls, misc anthro dolls)
- Ojamajo Doremi merch (mostly dolls/figures)
- Littlest Pet Shop (G2/G3; only actively collecting G3 though)
- misc anime/cartoon/video game/etc figures
- Schleich animals
- Beanie Babies (childhood collection, plus I pick up any nice ones that I see at charity shops and don't already have)
- Tsum Tsum plushies (I have a few of the blind bags but I'm trying to just get the ones I really like, don't want to go overboard with those as well ^^;;;)
- YooHoo and Friends plushies (mostly done with these, nowhere near me sells them any more :( Plus a lot of the newer ones don't really do it for me.)
- Zelfs (have a few, enough to call it a collection, not looking for any others tho)
- Aristocats merch, mostly plushies (childhood collection, mostly a retired collection tho I do pick up the odd thing here and there)
- Broken headphones :P

I think that about covers it XD

I have some others, but I'm not actively them now....unless you count action figs as dolls!

That's actually an interesting conversation to have. Hm.. the way I always saw it is, if they have removable clothes then they're a doll, if their clothes are molded on then they're an action figure. If that makes sense.

I've also moved away from ponies a bit (mostly because nothing has been new and my pony room is pretty unorganized at the moment).

I collect:
-Anything Sailor Moon, Madoka Magica, One Piece, Kirby, Pokemon, Eeyore
-Misc. video game merch
-Tokidoki Unicornos
-Funko POP! figures
-Nendoroid figures
-Beanie Boos
-Anything with unicorns
-Zelfs
-Num Noms
-Workout headbands. This one sounds silly, I know, but I think I can consider this a collection since I have about 20 different ones. I always have a different one to wear when I workout, haha.
-Squishables. This is my newest collection. I went from one Squishable plush to about... 6 or 7 now. They're huge and take up all the space but it's worth it.
-Purses/handbags. Also a silly one, but I've lost count of the different ones I have. I especially love weird and quirky ones...like, I just ordered a crossbody purse that's in the shape of a hamburger with fries on the side.
-Leggings. Yes, this definitely counts as a collection because I own over 40 pairs. Mostly Lularoe, but I'm good with anything that fits. I wear leggings all year round and the wackier the print, the better.

Five Nights at Freddy's merch (books, Funkos, bag, hat)

Pokemon (Games minus the switch games, figures, cards, plushes)

PS4 games (too much to say in a list)

PS2 games (Same as the other two)

PS One games (my favourites from my childhood)

Blur Rays and DVDs ( too many to count)

Manga

Funko Pops (Disney, Anime, Game)

I used to collect a lot more things but stopped a lot of them because of space. When the carboot sale used to be a heaven of 1980s toys I had a lot of stuff, but most of it I have now sold on.

I collect MLP (duh), Jem and Monster High (with a few EAH dolls). MH is literally whatever I fancy adding, not fussed about rarity or mint or boxed dolls. I like picking up second hand ones, and if I can fix their hair and it isn't gunky, then all to the good.

I also have quite a lot of owls. I don't think it's a formal collection as such, but they have rather congregated.

And I suppose lately, thanks to being in Japan, I started collecting weird memorabilia that relates to my study area. When they make a Hello Kitty version of two famous historical figures from your research field, what are you gonna do? So yeah. That's a growing oddball collection which thus far consists of several straps and keychains, one weird Hello Kitty Yoshitsune flannel, a Taira helmet, a Taira and Minamoto clay bell, a figure of Yoshitsune, and a couple of insanely odd drama CDs that try to turn the Genpei War into High School.

I wish I had more space to collect more things. But I don't. So there we are.

That's an interesting one that I haven't heard before! Unfortunately it's easily disproven; plenty of smaller/budget dolls will have molded-on clothing simply because it's cheaper and/or easier for little hands to deal with. The EAH budget dolls have molded bodices if I'm not mistaken, and here are some vintage toys that have entirely molded clothes but are decidedly more on the "doll" side of things:

Other than ponies I don't really have any other "strict" collections, but I like to collect a lot of things. I do collect Fairy Tail Birds, but I kind of consider them part of my pony collection. Other stuff I like to hoard would be:

- T-shirts (band shirts and T-shirts with prints I like)
- Jewellery (especially gothic and celtic jewellery)
- Homeware (like little decorative things)

I also collect cat hair, even though I'm not asking for it. XD

It really is an interesting discussion! From what I've heard, the term action figure was coined by Hasbro when they came out with G.I. Joe because they didn't want to scare boys away from their new line. But there was a G.I. Joe nurse - totally doll-like, just in the Joe line. And nowadays 1/6 scale figures have fabric/removable clothing, sometimes rooted hair. So why is Hot Toy's Pepper Potts

a doll? Maybe it's realism vs. stylized? But not all action figures are realistic either.

I agree with you though CSwift, they are basically the same thing. It's just gender coding! Calling them action figures just makes them sound cooler or more legitimate or something, I guess.

I was going to clarify "removable clothes + brushable hair = doll" but then I remembered most boy dolls have plastic hair, lol.. I also specifically put "removable clothes" instead of "fabric clothes" because of what you pointed out, those budget EAH dolls - yeah, their shirts are molded on, but their skirts are still removable, right? They never made it over here so I'm just going off photos, so sorry if I'm wrong about that, lol.

No idea why that Pepper Potts is an "action figure" though, I'd call her a doll, too..

Bright rabbit 1 - I never said articulation = doll ;) IMO as long as they have movable arms and/or legs then they're a doll, if they're completely static (I think that's the word I'm looking for?)/unmovable then they're a figure. But that's going off-topic a bit, haha.

Anyway, I just said that was *my* take on it (I was generalizing a bit anyway admittedly, since I didn't want to go off on a tangent), I wasn't trying to start up a debate about it. -shrug-

In the "my little pony" I'm only into G1 and actual mane 6 characters...
Add:
-Model Horse, who's my current main collection.
-Appaloosa Horses (in all brand, toys, plushies)
-Manga's/Anime/Game figures, but I've reduced a lot (no money, no space for all)
-Books. Books, everywhere :)

And that's pretty much all, but enough for me.

Woodwind and brass instruments!

It didn't start as a collection for me. In fact it wasn't until just about exactly two years ago that I went into a 'collecting' mindset. For by then I was convinced I would never return to school (for music or otherwise) and started going wild just buying whatever I wanted.

In terms of brass, I have two trumpets, a cornet, a French horn, and a trombone.

I probably would have more. I would certainly have an English horn, and I would probably have some form of Early music woodwind by now, but I went back to school, putting the collection on hold.

I suppose, why not? =P

The only problem is that all of my instruments (aside from my current oboe, which I play for college) are left at home with my parents, since they think it's too risky to have anything at my apartment. So if I got a tuba, it'd be really large and would take up a lot of space. My parents would probably hate me for that. lol

The action figure/doll discussion reminded me that I have a few Japanese dolls and I think they are dolls in the Japanese sense of the word. One is Genjou Sanzou from Saiyuuki, and two are from Sotsugyou M. All have rooted hair, and are poseable but not super articulated. Sanzou is considered a limited collector item, the other two...no idea. Just dolls I think. That is a sort of subcollection, I suppose...I have two pullip dolls, as well. Nomado and...the one in the kimono who is beautiful and still in her box because she is beautiful.

But on the terminology, this made me remember that the japanese word for doll is "ningyou". The Japanese word for puppet is also ningyou. The Japanese for action figure...is sometimes ningyou (and sometimes akushon fuigyaa, but that's just awkward to both spell and say). The word 人形 Ningyou literally means 'human figure' and so seems to cover all categories. Japan are also much more into "figures" than maybe the west (at least, my impression was that way), which may explain it.

So I wonder if the distinction is a western thing. Are those separations in other languages? I know a few words for dolls in other languages but never thought about this before.

I also have a small accidental collection of musical instruments, some of which I used to play. I have the clarinet from my childhood which my grandfather bought me and my violin, both of which I learned as a child but the clarinet was my favourite. I have a bunch of recorders as well. And a flute, which I feel guilty about, because I never quite got around to learning to play it yet. Oh yes, and a guitar. Everyone in my family has a guitar. It's a passion of my father's, so it's sort of a rule. We all have a guitar. Even if we don't play it.

I would love to have a shamisen O.O. I got to play one in Japan and it was so much better than a guitar...

Books, books and books. I have absolutely no will power when it comes to books, particularly children's books. Which isn't quite as bad as it sounds: I do have two young kids and they love books too. But I absolutely love vintage children's books. The illustrations are just too fascinating.

I also collect stone / ceramic animals which live in my garden.

I still have my Barbies horses from childhood and a few of the toy hoses I played with then, but I am not actively looking to add to that collection at the moment.

Ponies are definitely my main collection though.

Okay... As my username betrays my main 'collection' (I've gathered over 120 clone troopers and NO, they are not all the same), Breyer model horses (I have a herd of..........I think 200). HotWheels Corvettes as chances are slim of me getting enough money to buy a real one. Dragon figures (McFarlane, HTTYD, and so on) are another collection that started with just one figure. Both Gen 1 (Mata-verse) and Gen 2 Lego Bionicles.

However........I have one collection that I thought would never, ever happen. McFarlane Halo figures! I've got the version of Master Chief from the newest game plus Kat and Emile from Reach. That tiny collection started because McFarlane lost the rights to Halo, and my local Walgreens was clearing out the figures as a result. The last one there, with a thick coat of dust on the package was Master Chief, who for under 4 dollars, came home with me... I'm blaming that part of my interests on my best friend who introduced me to Halo and RvB.........

Bratz dolls - currently my 'main' collection at the moment

Monster High dolls- I have a lot but I have long since completely stopped collecting/buying.

Novi Stars dolls

a few Barbies from the 90s-2000s

just one or a few of various other brand dolls (Strawberry Shortcake, Project Mc2, Cutie Pops, Winx, Juku Couture, La Dee Da, Moondreamers, Kurhn)

I have several robot/mech figures- most of it is Transformers mostly due to them being the least expensive+easiest to find+they have female characters, but I just recently bought my very first Super Robot Chogokin and I plan to buy another one next month.

I also recently bought several Bleeding Edge Goths dolls.

Other than ponies I have a few collections/assortments of things.

I wouldn't say I collect Monster High dolls, I like them and have quite a few but I don't focus on them. I have a lot of Iron Man toys, and other Marvel figures (including Hot Toys), Puppy in my Pocket, Hatchimal Colleggtibles (only the beginning with a tight leash on quantity), Little Live Pets... Pinkie Cooper dolls, gosh they're adorable, I have them all and I'd still be collecting more if there were more to collect... Nintendo Amiibo (only a handful), plushies... anything cute that catches my eye really lol.

Sweetie Pups is really where it's at for me besides My Little Ponies right now.

While ponies are my main addiction jam... you'd find a little bit of everything in my room. Some stuff could be considered an actual collection while other stuff is random and kind of one-off things that are the result of them catching my interest and me dipping my toe in to see if I'd like them and buy more of them or not.

My biggest collection of non-pony stuff would have to be Monster High. Even though I try to limit myself to one doll per character, I still think I have around 15 to 20 of them. Other dolls that you'll see (of varying numbers) are Ever After High, Disney, American Girl, DC Super Hero Girls, and Living Dead Dolls.

I have one of those plastic drawers where I keep my Littlest Pet Shop, Zelfs, MLP mini figures, and random Monster High accessories in. On top of the drawer is my little shrine collection of Elsa merch. Right now it consists of a Build a Bear, two dolls, a few POP! figures, a couple dog tags, and a Tsum Tsum.

Other things in my room include: a wide range of plush toys, a frame of taxidermy butterflies, Five Nights at Freddy's figures, a reborn doll, Shopkins, Transformers, and tons of other stuff I probably don't need.

I always make sure to pick up shells and sea glass and whatnot whenever I'm at the beach, and I love cute decorative pieces to do with sea creatures. I think it may be easier to answer, "what don't you collect" .  I have so many different collections whether I actively collect them, just have them, or just grab them when I find them if the price is right.  Almost all collections are linked to childhood nostalgia or memories.

-MLP G1-G4: toys and merch
-Monster High: I have a big collection of G1 dolls and a few from G2.  My interest has been waning due to the reboot.
-Ever After High dolls: Have collected since the beginning but not actively collecting anymore due to the many changes in quality, etc.
-Disney stuff (Princesses, vintage items of favorite movies, especially Sleeping Beauty which is my favorite, Disney dolls (Mattel, Disney Store, Descendants), have most of my Disney stuff from childhood such as playsets, and read-along-books, the larger storybooks, Golden Books, Fairy Tale books, quite a few paperdoll books of the princesses, and current merch too, movies, etc. etc. etc.)
-Specific Barbie stuff that I had or wanted as a kid if I happen to come across it.  I was never really into Barbie but I do remember some commercials and wanting what was in them.  I do still have the dolls I had as a kid too but unfortunately not any of the playsets.
-Strawberry Shortcake Merch, plush, doll pets, PVC minis, and movies/episodes.  I really really want the Strawberry Shortcake Meets the Berrykins movie
-Care Bears: PVC minis, merch, vintage plush, and episodes/movies
-Rainbow Brite: merch, PVC minis, vintage plush, episodes/movies, and I want some of the new retro stuff but it's expensive.  I got a Starlight Itty Bitty.
-Carnival glass in the grape and leaf pattern by Indiana Glass Co.  The blue is my favorite.
-Glasses: cartoons, Disney, Kentucky Derby, etc
-Grand Champions, Enchanted Kingdom Horses, Breyers: I have my childhood collection and I grab them occasionally when I find them second hand
-Vintage LPS: I have all the ones from my childhood and collect pieces here and there of ones I am missing
-Kitchen Littles: I have my childhood collection and don't seek them.  I have only seen them on eBay though anyway.  I had all the bigger pieces but the super market.  I have the refrigerator, counter with sink, oven, and kitchen island
-Beanie Babies: kept a few from my huge childhood collection and sold the rest
-Masters of the Universe and Princess of Power: I saved all the ones I could find of my cousins' in the trailer house that my parents used to live in when they were first married, and later was a hang-out for my older cousins.  It is now basically falling apart and is a hazard.  The things I saved are a mess and still need a good cleaning.  Unfortunately, the MotU castles my brothers had, my mom got rid of instead of sending them to my grammas with the rest of them so I am missing the snake castle.
-Vintage dollhouse pieces from Playskool, Mattel, and Little Tykes: I have my childhood pieces and pick more up second hand.  I had the chance to purchase the Mattel pink Victorian dollhouse that I wanted sooooo bad as a kid (I got a homemade wooden dollhouse instead of a storebought one) and I passed because it was $50 and didn't think I should spend the money at the time.  Now, I regret it, especially since they don't show up in good condition often and it had a tone of accessories
-Fisher Price Fun with Food sets and Little Tykes "house" toys: I have all mine from childhood and pickup the food playsets I don't have if I find them.
-Blinky Bill toys: My gramma got me the school house and a bunch of figures from this, I believe on clearance.  I don't add to it but I still keep them.
-The Lion King Jungle Babies: I have the whole set from childhood
-Renaissance Festival pottery cups
-Children's books from my childhood: have mine and still pick them up like Bernstein Bears, Clifford, etc.
-Plush and dolls from childhood or wanted in childhood: Magic Nursery, etc.
-Scrapbooking supplies: been wanting to do more but don't have the space currently so it is all stored at my parents place
-American Girl dolls: I have Felicity, Elizabeth, Kirsten, Samantha, and Nellie.  Samantha was mine from childhood and thanks to my mom I have an almost complete set of hers.  The others I got when they were going to retire them.
-Movies, especially favorite series/TV shows
-Games from childhood: I have The Babysitters Club game (even though I never read the books, my cousin did and she had the game), Sweet Valley High (another cousin had this one), Herd Your Horses (looking again since my ex-husband would not return it to me.  He probably burned it, the jerk), Life (have a few versions, including G4 MLP), and Barbie Prom Queen game,  etc
-Cherry Merry Muffin, Cupcake dolls, My Pretty Mermaid
-Puppy/Kitty/Pony/Cub/Bunny Surprise

I know it looks/sounds like I am a hoarder but I promise it's not as bad as it sounds. I just was lucky enough to keep most of my childhood toys and rescue quite a bit from the trash as with the MotU/PoP. Most of these collections are either inactive, "complete"(don't want more), or only get added to if I happen across them.  One day either I hope to display many of them or present them to my pwn children with which to play. So sorry for length, I thank you if you stayed with me until the end!

I'm a serious Harry Potter collector! I especially love the old stuff, pre-2003 and before the films got popular and changed Harry's and many others' designs. The "vintage" Enesco branded stuff is my favourite <3

I find that I tend to collect characters more than franchises, lol. I collect Sailor Jupiter and James (Pokemon) and even my HP collection is heavily centred on Snape (and Slytherin house)!

I collect books and I especially love the Barnes and Noble leatherbound classics line.

I also casually collect Breyer, I really love them but they're just so expensive it'd be cheaper to buy a real horse, I sometimes think!! I always feel a little left out of the Breyer collector's community because all I can afford are antique store castoffs/used horses, so my collection isn't that great and I don't feel like I can really call myself a Breyer collector, lol.

I do have a few other collections, as most of us seem to!

I collect a few specifics American Girl characters, and I have recently decided to collect delphite dishes.  These are like Jadeite, if you have heard of that, only delphite is a lovely blue color.  It's going to be slow going, however, as those items can get pretty expensive!

Here we goooo....

Besides MLP, there's a bunch of things:

Sailor Moon stuff, I'm not as fond of some of the newer crystal merch stuff, their faces are too different, but I love the manga and the original animation styles. I have all of the main manga series, the old Dic/Clover dubs on DVD (I let go of my legit ones for pirated copies to save space) and am collecting the new releases when budgets allow, even crystal. My planner even has a moon stick charm - I'm obsessed!

Care Bears - again not terribly fond of the new, less pudgy styling. I collect mostly vintage plush, but a few ringers from the early 00's have snuck in, as well as the vintage books, and the DVD sets of the original cartoons, I'm literally just getting started with the DVDs, I have 1 I found at thrift the other day!

Agatha Christie Books. I have at least one version of all the main books, just missing a few plays and short story collections. Am trying to get the earliest copies I can of each book in standalone format, it's proving tough!

Horsey children's books, which isn't an active collection, I just pick them up if they're an absolute bargain, to complement my childhood collection.

Model horses, again much like the book collection, I only do absolutely gorgeous stuff, or bargain basement. I'm obsessed with draft breeds, if money or space were no object, I'd grab all the draft models I could! I have Breyers, Grand Champions, Schliech, CollectA, etc...

Fakies! I love some of the vintage ones, like Simbas and Buddy L's.

CDs. I have hundreds of CDs, I'm paranoid about losing my music collection, so it's all on disc!

I know it's kind of MLP, but the G3 5-Mile-Press colouring books that were sold here in Australia. Every time I think I've got them all, another different one turns up in those discounted old-stock bookstores that crop up everywhere. I have all my colouring books in a binder, but I swear, the G3 ones are taking up so much space, I'm going to have to get a new folder just for them soon, but I can't resist, the covers are beautiful. I have so many that I keep photos on my phone for reference so I don't buy the same ones over!

Dragon stuff

I collect so much stuff!  I generally have 1-2 major collections, and an unlimited number of minor ones going at any given time.  Ponies have been a major collection for a solid 20+ years, and the secondary major collection has shifted a bit from time to time.  The rest of my collections tend to be active in spurts, some more frequent than others.

I collect:
Doctor Who
David Tennant items(a subset of the Doctor Who collection that turned into its own collection)
Loch Ness Monster stuff
Squished pennies
Dollhouse miniatures
Several other lines of small/miniature figures and items
Stickers - vintage and modern
Magnets
Bad movies(like Sharknado)
Vintage video games
Stuffed animals(despite my attempts to quit)
Steiff - another subset of a collection that became its own thing
Salt and pepper shakers(not too active)
Jackalope items
Rabbit/owl/hedgehog items
Fossils/interesting rocks and minerals
Christmas ornaments from places I visit
Miniature glass animals
Magic the Gathering cards
Star Trek(it's back on the active list after almost 20 years off!)
Weird things from the roadside attractions I visit
Dinosaur items
Postcards from places I visit

I'm sure there's more, but it's hard to remember everything I collect.  I like to joke that I collect collections:p

I collect (besides mlp)
Pokemon cards/merchandise
Video game merch (extra points if minecraft or portal related)
Smushed pennies
Rocks (Pie family approved of course)
Plushies
Lego (just to play with my sisters and have awesome stories)
Bits of lint I find (when sleep deprived. Often)
Teeny tiny miniatures (blame gran for that one)
Newspaper articles about interesting stuff like SPAAACE, cons or anything else on my grey matter

I really want to make a magic school bus collection. Sadly, the ponies have taken the monies. I want to have all the books, the science sets, DVD or video of every episode ever, new merch with this reboot coming soon, and the Liz puppet and ms frizzle doll. I was surprised when I learnt they made a ms frizzle doll. She even comes with her food themed dress! And they made a hallmark Christmas ornament. I already have a ms frizzle cosplay in my closet, so that's a start. I wish to have a magic school bus cupboard filled with these and related stuff. Like a custom magic school bus mlp!

I don't really actively collect anything besides mlp anymore (are dream beauties included here?). But! I am looking for some replacements for childhood favorites that went missing- the horses from Princess Guinevere and the Jewel Riders, some of the Fantasy Fillies, a few of the origional littlest pet shop sets, a few Breyers (like the halloween ones), and there are certainly some polly pocket and starcastle sets that I would snap up if I came across them!
Oh and I also recently saw that thread about Grand Champions.... I will definitely be collecting the microminis if I can get my hands on them :frolic:

I just googled that and oh my goodness, NOSTALGIA. I remember having a miniature hogwarts castle which had tiny figurines of the different characters... I had quite a bit of fun playing with that.

Breyers are so pretty and I have quite a large collection that was gifted to me/ bought in antique shops but you are right, it's just not so fun to collect something which is so expensive and fragile!

^This describes me pretty well, too. A lot of my collections I don't actively add to (unless I see something I want inexpensive in a thrift store -- not unlikely since most are old toys). In addition to ponies (of course!) I don't really actively collect anything besides mlp anymore (are dream beauties included here?).

I'm a serious Harry Potter collector! I especially love the old stuff, pre-2003 and before the films got popular and changed Harry's and many others' designs. The "vintage" Enesco branded stuff is my favourite <3

I actually have the set you’re referring to! It needs some work to get the motor running again and it’s missing couple pieces (including Snape, which breaks my heart) but I love it! They also made 6 other sets, five of which I have. They made the Burrow, Hagrid’s Hut, the quidditch pitch, the Whomping Willow, the forbidden corridor, and the hogwarts express. I have all of them but the corridor!

I actually found one of my grail books in a charity store! Oh boy the excitement! And the price was R10-00, so less than a dollar. Even better

Interesting read :)

I collect (besides MLP not too actively):

MLP (G1-G4, merchandise, very selected fakies)
Pokemon items (games and selectend merch and cards)
Build a Bear plushies
Comicbooks (selected older stuff, 70th-90th)

I usually stick to ponies, but I do have some of the Build-a-Bear Pokemon plush and some tomy figures.
I used to get Unicornos as well, but they're pretty expensive compared to ponies!

Does "collecting cat hair in the corners of my apartment" count?

I sort of collect kirins and "lucky kitties" on a small scale.
I also have a collection of second hand Transformers, mostly non-bayverse for preference.
And for some reason people keep giving me keychains/keytags.  I have an accidental collection of those too.

Besides of the cat hair. : )

I just started collecting Lady Lovely locks but I don´t have Place for them so unfortunately they are placed in the wardrobe at the moment.

I also collect old porcelain Brownies and old christmas decorations. I love glass balls with lots of glitter on them.
