Title: peroxide bath advice? please help :)
Post by: kingluke on April 05, 2019, 03:39:30 AM
I've heared a lot about peroxide bathing on this forum, but how does one go about it?
And what ponies are safe to use? I have a taf yum yum in bad shape but I wont try anything like this on her before I know exactly what I'm doing.

Any advice anyone?

I've seen it done with different amounts of water/peroxide. FarDreamer's site (http://www.mlppreservationproject.com/mycollection2.html) has a small section on how she did it to remedy the spots on her year 3 rainbows (you will have to scroll down). I would read through this thread  (http://mlparena.com/index.php/topic,380329.0.html)to see if the problem you want to fix is fit for peroxide.
Because it involves setting out in the sun (as that is what makes it work) I would be very wary because I wouldn't want Yumyum's hair to fade.
Can you provide pictures or descriptions of the issues?

Thank you very much. She is bald and tailless tho, she came that way 😅. There is just a lot of colourful marker on her whole body and face and most her symbols had to be repainted. I dont have any pictures right now, sorry.

Marker needs to be sunfaded. Be very careful and check in often to make sure she doesn't burn. Peroxide soaks would be good for dirt, but not for stains like ink.

Yeah to remove marker you will want to sunfade, not peroxide soak

I would be nervous to advise using peroxide at this stage for any reason as you mentioned her symbols have already been repainted. Not even the hairdresser's cream people have been using with reported success. I am not sure what the peroxide would do with the new paint pigments: would they possibly bleed into the white pony due to being exposed to peroxide? I would not chance it with her, she is not that common a pony.
