I am so in love with all of the vintage photos of G1's with ribbons/bows on their tales. Do you have any photos of yours? Also, can anyone HELP me get one on mine LOL Is there a secret? Or is the secret in the type of ribbon?

Stalking ebay is the secret for the odd "ribbon" lot if you want genuine MLP or a trip to a haberdashery if you just want to add ribbon to your ponies :)
I am sure someone will be along with pics - I already spammed another thread with the only ribbon pics I have uploaded unfortunately.
And accessories are the best :P

Kinda embarrassed, I had to look up "haberdashery" :blush:
I really just love ribbons and bows :) I swear I wasn't girly as a child, so I think I am making up for it now. I did a spa day for my only two G1 girls, and added bows, but I don't know if they'll stay. I was wondering if the satiny ribbons are better than the stiffer cottony ones? Anyways, still stalking for pics :)

Aside from buying original MLP ribbons, Offray's Spool-O-Ribbon is super cheap, comes in an array of colors, and the 1/4" woven edge (edited cause I am stupid and forgot 1/8" is small) is a near match to the original MLP ribbons.
Here is an old picture of my German Swirly Whirly with some of the Offray ribbon. I will see if I can't find some more lying around, and take a picture with some genuine MLP ribbon.

Here is a picture I just took of Posey with an Offray ribbon (the ends aren't tidied up, and she has been wearing the thing for ages, but I thought it was a decent enough example), and Whizzer with a genuine MLP ribbon (it actually belongs to TAF Fifi, but Fifi didn't want to be photographed).

The major difference I see (aside from length and cut, which can be adjusted on the Offray to match MLP) is the shine... the Offray ribbon seems to be shinier. Also, as I mentioned they come in a huge array of colors that Hasbro never produced... my G3 Cinnamon Breeze and G3 Lickity Split have brown ribbons in their tails, because I decided to match their main eye color.

I'm in love! Especially your group shot, MercuryStar! :lovey: :lovey: They are so cute! My ribbons are Offray, but they are more cotton. Looks like yours are the satiny kind? I'm going to have to go back and look for different ribbons :)

I am not really sure, Rayedelsol, I just went crazy and bought them whenever Michael's or JoAnn's was having sales on them. Never paid much attention to whether they were considered satin or not, lol. I mostly just bought the 1/4" in multiple colors. I might have a mix, for all I know... a lot of my ribbon is packed away at the moment, and with the exception of Whizzer and Swirly Whirly, the ponies pictured came with their ribbons (from the sellers/traders). They all have Offray ribbons, except for Whizzer and Angel.
I am not sure what brand Angel's ribbon is, it is a rougher texture, and very matte compared to even the genuine MLP ribbon.
Edit: I believe the spools I bought are made of Polyester.

I mostly use Offray too. The 1/4th inch ones. Mostly because it's the right size and look (shiny on both sides, lol) and there are so many colors. My only issue is sometimes it's kinda stiff. I looove adding ribbons to my ponies. I feel like it just completes them. I have like a zillion different colors (don't usually care to match the original colors they came with).
Also, the 1/8th inch ribbon is a decent size for G4s (and other tiny ponies) if you don't want them to look like they're wearing big huge bows.

I seriously need some magic eraser or something. These are the two I got in a 99 cent lot on eBay [and then paid like $12 shipping :shocked:] and they are still a little.... dirty after their baths.
