It is the heat of the summer, what shall we do? I know, let's turn this summer hotter with some bathing beauties! Each contestant had to post a head shot to enter. it is your job to pick your favorite pictures!

Cutesaurus comes roaring into the competition! This darling of the Jurassic era has been waiting a long time for the summer to arrive - ever since the last Ice Age! She's ready to relax and catch some rays, to say the least! Her hobbies include long walks on the beach, visits to the La Brea Tarpits, and avoiding large-scale extinction events!

Hula Hula grew up on a tropical island. She loves the beach and anything summer and tropical. She works as a bartender at Ponyland's hottest night club. In her sparetime she enjoys spending time with her husband and 3 kids.

Living in the desert, nothing says summer quite like blistering hot temperatures and blindingly sunny days! Although she is used to the heat, Seascape really prefers to avoid it if she can. To cool down she'll hit a pool lake, or anywhere nearby with water! She's not an excellent swimmer, but she is an excellent lounger and relaxer. For her, Summer is all about kicking back and enjoying life!

What a wonderful bunch of ladies. Your votes will help them reach the ultimate title of Bathing Beauty! Voting will go to June 16. There is no elimination. Each category revives votes. They are accumulated to the end.
Theme for the next round! Water! No we do not expect to get these lovely ladies wet. The picture can be solo or group, but it has to have the idea or actual water. Maybe a photo next to a pool, or a blanket like river. Maybe the background looks like water. It could be raining too...just needs to say water:)
Pictures are due by June 19. *different from the first post.* just post them in this forum.

It's so hard to choose!! I love them all! :O I also can't wait to get my next picture - WATER!! I'm already brainstorming!
I have no personal preference on 4 vs 5 rounds; I'd lean towards 5, but that's because I like taking more pictures! :P

Thank you Ponyfan. I wish you the best of luck with your shot. I had to settle for mine. Was hoping for more of a waterfall look but ended up with water just dribbling down. May attempt again if I can figure out a way to achieve the look

Baby Pearly loves to play in the water all day but she enjoys an occasional break on land also. She enjoys the warmth of the sun on her favorite rock making sure she is close enough to the water for the waves to splash over her.

Here's my entry for the water category, I had a really hard time deciding where to take the picture and what shot I should enter. There's so many fun ideas with a category like water!

Seascape initially wanted to throw a big pool party for all her friends, but quickly realized she should have started planning sooner. With the rising temperatures all the pools were already packed! Seaspray told her she knew a much quieter place they could have an adventure and showed her her favorite hidden creek. They spent all afternoon watching fish and birds and enjoying the cool water.
No ponies actually fell in the gross creek water during the making of these pictures, I promise!

I only have one merpony (Sea Princess!), but I love how her little arms are spread like, "welcome to my cove!" :heart:

I like that image too, the colours work so nicely with hers as a contrast, because she's all pink and it's all bluey and watery.
Also I think she's saying "Hug me", which is in my opinion highly difficult to resist.

Naturally, I painstakingly decide between bathing suit or grass skirt, and in the end you can only see a tiny hint of color behind her... :lmao: Oh well!

Snapdragon, omg your picture is too cute! I totally thought about buying one of those floaties too but couldn't bring myself to spend the extra money. :P Cutesaurus looks like she was made for it! I love her little drink too, so fun!
lostpony, I'm loving all the seaponies! It took me a minute to notice the real fishies back there too, but they really add to the underwater feel, I love it!

Thanks, Minty_Magic! I love your natural setting. I didn't have time to hike out to a creek and get the setup I wanted so I went with the aquarium instead.
I took hundreds of shots trying to get the fish to cooperate and they just wouldn't. They either hid in the corners or streaked by too fast and were blurs. So I had to settle for the least blurry image that had fish in it, which is mostly just showing fins. I think all the seaponies got them excited or something.
Right after I packed it all up, they were chilling right there where I had wanted them, looking at me like, "What?"
Everyone's pictures are looking so good!

very impressive shot lostpony. How did you get the sea ponies in their pose? Are they submerged in the tank? As for the fish, I find that freshwater angelfish can be pretty cooperative for photoshoots. They love attention :P
It looks like we are still waiting on 4 more contestants to get their photos up. Can not wait to see them all :dribble:

I'm so tickled that you aren't sure if the seaponies are inside the tank....my illusion succeeded! They are stuck on the outside with double-sided tape. I had to take out the weights to keep them from falling off too fast.
My Comets have never been uncooperative before! They are always at the front looking out, but I've never taped seaponies on their glass either...
I like your magical pool too, and poetry! I'm going with the lowest word count possible so my wordsmith skills don't ruin Masquerade's chances.

lostpony: I love your shot, the fishies add such a nice effect when swimming around like that (you said they were uncooperative, but I think it makes the picture look magical x) also: seaponies, yaaay!)
Here's mine!
Petite Petunia and Aloha Pearl took a hike today to one of the nearby lakes. Sadly, we didn't get to capture the baby tiny pike who curiously swam up to us (it was sooo adorable!). Maybe next time!

If I wasn't so in love with my floaty idea, I might have recreated my 'rain' picture, which I did with a hose! You can do it, guys!! You can even see behind him, I took this photo on a sunny day! I just held my thumb over the hose until I got a rain-like consistency to the spray!

I love all the pictures too. They are all wonderful and so creative. :) If the next round is swimsuits I'm not sure how Baby Pearly will manage to fit in one yet.

due to a lot of personal issues currently going on, it took a long while to get, but here it is! :blush:
Mainsail loves visiting the "pony falls" in their peak season. she dresses up and treks to the falls every year, and lounges while keeping cool by the mist from the falls and the cool rocks surrounding the basin.

Yes!! Inflatable drink holders - apparently it's a THING, which I only found out after seeing them on the Barbie instagram! Concerned Pony had a ride on one too! :lmao:

I got the flamingos (and some fruit ones! gotta blow those up next) from an online store that deals in bulk for parties! Right now they're even on sale! :O You get a dozen for $8! http://www.orientaltrading.com/inflatable-floating-flamingo-coasters-a2-34_555.fltr I recently bought the doughnuts from Target, where you only get three for $10, sadly! But they were SO CUTE, I couldn't resist! I also saw sets of them at Urban Outfitters, where they were three for $12, but they had UNICORNS. @_@ I might have to go back for them...

Snapdragon, I've been meaning to say how much I love that artificial rain picture! The pony just looks so stalwart there getting poured on and the way his shadow falls across his shoulder really is great.
All it needs is a rainbow made with the hose, remember those?

Aw thank you! I was super proud of it too, I took that picture years and years ago now! :O But it's aged pretty well! Agreed on the rainbow, too!! :heart: You can see a bit of a rainbow haze in the bottom left corner, I think!
