I went to the shops determined I was going to buy Kimono and ended up convinced by Pinkie Pie. Ahhh, 2003. Such young days!
-
My parents bought my first g3s to me whe I was a kid. It was the picnic set with Spring Fever and Applejack.
-
Rainbow Dash and Sunny Daze
-
My first was a 4 pack gift from my grandma. Star Dasher, Sparkleworks, Denim Blue, Rainbowdash. The first pony I bought myself was Star Catcher. I miss G3 being on shelves.
-
My first G3s were a Petal Blossom and Rainbow Flash I found at Good Will while I was still in my 20s^^ Those were the first I bought for myself. The very first G3 I ever bought was an Easter themed Toola Roola for my youngest sister's birthday one year. She was into MLP then and also loved bunnies so the bunny ears and tail on the Easter Toola Roola combined both interests rather nicely.
-
I can't remember the first one I bought with my own money, but the first pony I can ever remember having was Glitter Glide, given to me by my Uncle when I was very young. I still have her!
-
It was a twin pack of two ponies and I am pretty sure Butterscotch and Minty were some of my first.
Love pkw xxx
-
Our first G3 were gifts to us (well, my sisters, not me) by my cousins and included the Celebration Castle & Treasure Hunt.
The first G3 I bought as a collector was Fluttershy in the walking pose. I found her at a collectibles shop in the middle of PA when my parents had started getting on an antiquing kick. She was $4 but my dad only had $3 cash on hand, so we haggled her down!
-
They were flea market finds. Silly Sunshine, Sunny Daze and Forsythia? I think.

Silly Sunshine and Forsythia are lovely and somewhat underrated ponies.
-
The first g3 I’ve owned was kimono. But she’s an old childhood one. The first one I picked in a store was sweet berry.
-
Star Catcher, the second one with "normal" wings. I got her in a thrift store and she was in rough shape, but she cleaned up really nice!
-
My first g3 was Denim Blue, which my parents bought for me as a kid. I honestly don't remember which one I first bought myself... It was definitely thrifted though!
-
I think my first g3 was Scootin' Along with Cupcake, back when I started collecting in 2006 :)
-
Me personally...it was probably Wysteria or Kimono. But the first one I had was bought for me for my graduation in 2003, and that was Rainbow Dash. Back before she was ruined by G4, I really liked her for her rainbow pony-ness.
Kimono and Wysteria were the first ones I remember buying myself. I always loved Kimono although it was a long time before I started studying Japanese...
I think my sister may have had Sunny Daze and...Sparkleworks?
-
The first G3 I can remember having is Star Catcher.
-
I came home from school one day and my mom bought four ponies. Two were for me (plus Cotton Candy Cafe!) and two were going to a classmate for her birthday. I ended up choosing Sunny Daze and Wysteria. :) I gave up Rainbow Dash and I don't remember who the other pony was. The Glitter Celebration ponies were the hardest to find to complete my set, I got them all at once! They were the only ones I've seen that had the free Charming Birthday VHS too, I didn't know they were supposed to come with movies.
My friend ended up getting Celebration Castle for her birthday and I was soooo jealous!! The balloon was so cool!! Until I was able to get it I played with my ponies in an appropriately sized wooden dollhouse.
-
Waited for them to come out, reach my island, and bought them ALLL!!!! With my 3 sisters of course, I got first pick since I was the oldest, Minty I think was my #1 pick. I think I was 17 at the time. We left toys R us with so many ponies...
-
Most likely Daisyjo, or at least she was one of the first G3s. I got back into Pony collecting in April 2005, when G3 were brand new in the shops. So while I was buying G1 on eBay, I popped into shops & found charity shop G1s & new toy shop G3s. Daisyjo was one of the new shop G3s I bought. I love her colouring & have a soft spot for daisies.
-
My first was Star Swirl.
I also swore up and down it would be the only g3 id get. That didnt work at all.
-
I was a really young kid when they came out so i'm not 100% sure but i remember being really really excited for applejack and saving my allowance to get 2 to be sisters
-
Kimono and Pinkie Pie at the same time from Kay-Bee Toys in the summer of 2003.
-
My very first G3 (and very first MLP ever) was Sunny Daze! She was actually a gift. The very first G3 that I bought with my own money was Scootaloo second-hand in Akihabara, Japan.
-
The first g3 I was given (and also the first pony I was ever given) was Tulip Twinkle. (It also might've been a breezie 3-pack as I'm not sure which exactly came out first/which I received first but I usually consider Tulip Twinkle my first pony). I remember loving ponies and always wanting more, but I can recall never being able to find them on shelves. Whether this is true or just me as a child not looking in the right places, I have no idea, but I do remember the first g3 I actually remember consciously asking for and buying was at a yard sale! It was only in like 2010-2011 ish and it was Strawberry Reef, Skywishes, and Star Catcher (the one with the fabric wings, I was already gifted the second version of her LOL).
-
Pretty sure it was Sunny Daze and Sparkleworks
-
My first was a double set with Autumn Skye and either Butterscotch or Minty. It was the very first set I saw in stores.
-
My first G3 was a Rainbow Dash, which my uncle gave to me. The first G3 I bought with my own money was Pretty Pop, who I saved up my allowance for.
-
I was an active collector when G3s came out, so I hit every TRU in the area when they were first reported to be out. If a TRU had one pony in stock, it had them all, so my first G3 was everything that was available at launch(including the Cotton Candy Cafe).
What I remember most about G3 was being the first in the world to get some ponies. Due to some distribution quirk, I was blessed to live near the TRU that got new stuff in first. Often, first in the world. I would check the place daily. If I found something new, I’d rush home and take pics to share with the community. Some items we knew were coming, but occasionally I’d stumble on a pony nobody had any idea even existed. Sparklesnap was one of those. No announcement, no brochure pics, nothing. She was just there one day. I was the first to find the Star Catcher with video set(posted pics of the pony and screenshots of the video). Half the G3 Birthflowers, the first wave of Scooter ponies, Hidden Treasure, and a few others were some of my “first finds”.
-
Moon Dancer!
-
Sweetie Belle, with extra markings, in fall 2008. :satisfied: I was 16yo and back then it took a while to admit I want to collect ponies, heh. :,D
-
Tropical Surprise and Skywishes. At the time I still bought into the whole dark blue = boy and pink = girl idea so they were a couple from the start. Tho now I kinda headcanon them as non-binary because why not?
-
I THINK I held out till about Merriweather... I know I had a few Mintys, but later versions. I just enjoyed going to Target at my local mall and seeing ponies on the shelves again to begin with. And looking back on them now, G3 was so fun - the designs and colour schemes were really good compared to what was to follow... also have vivid memories of clipping those pony charms to my jean pockets hahahaha. 2003! What a time.
-
My first true G3 My Little Pony was Starsong. I received the Kohl's exclusive Ponyville Adventure board game as a Christmas gift way back in 2008, but that's it beforehand. I bought this Starsong off eBay in May 2019, because I was beginning to consider adding G3 ponies to my previously G1 exclusive collection. I don't like her pose too much, but she's pretty otherwise and did indeed convince me to start buying them!

It was in late 2003, shortly after the birth of my second child. They were the 2-packs with Minty/Autumn Skye and Minty/Star Swirl.
The extra Minty was the start of my older child's collection. She is 20 now, and a pony collector too!

I wish I could remember! That was a long time ago!
-
Mine was Wysteria. :D
-
Bowtie. Found her at the Duckwalls that used to be in my town. And she's what re-ignited my interest in MLP in 2005 that led up to me being more into the franchise than ever before.
-
crap, I can't remember. For some reason I am thinking it was Sunny Daze but meh...yea, I don't remember anymore.
-
The first one I bought myself was Rainbow Dash but I had been gifted two before her. The very first G3 I got was Kimono. I got her as an extra surprise in a trade from someone in the US. The second G3 I got was Dazzle Surprise and I got her from Hasbro Nordic after sending them a fan letter . New toys always show up later over here so the first G3 I ever bought myself, Rainbow Dash, was my third one and I bought her the first time I found them in a store. She was quickly followed by two more - Sunny Daze and Wysteria.
-
This brings up so many good memories to me. The first g3 pony I ever got was Sparkleworks, my parents got me her as a Christmas gift in 2003 (she was also my second official My little pony toy).
But technically the first pony I ever bought by myself was Butterscotch in 2004 on a school trip (wow time passes by so fast).
-
I haven't got one for myself JUST yet but I have my sights on Autumn Skye!!
-
Mine was Wysteria. :D
Mine too! She's still a favorite.
-
Strawberry Swirl, the one that came with a purse. ^.^
-
She's a good choice Marshie. So pretty and unusual and perfect for the season.
-
I believe my first one from the store was Paradise Island
-
If thrifting counts, it was Rainbow Flash SLH. Took ages to sort out her mane, and it is still just "okay".
I haven't got one for myself JUST yet but I have my sights on Autumn Skye!!
One of my absolute favorites, even for the one we have who has bobbed hair.
And it reminds me to get her out of storage for the October/November decorations.
-
Either Minty, Sparkleworks, or or Sunny Daze. Don't remember, I got so many so fast.
-
My first G3 was Frilly Frocks and her boutique :] I do not remember getting her as I was a small child but my parents got her for me. My first thrifted though was Summer Bloom along with Lulabelle and Magic Marigold.
-
Winter snow!
-
Sunny Daze :). It was such a fun feeling seeing ponies back in the world after G2 was only in the US for such a short time.
-
Bowtie. Found her at the Duckwalls that used to be in my town. And she's what re-ignited my interest in MLP in 2005 that led up to me being more into the franchise than ever before.
Bowtie was my first, too! And that was the start of my pony collecting journey. :)
-
The first one I remember getting was Cotton Candy and her café! I also remember getting Wysteria and Pinkie Pie around the same time. 😊
-
Rainbow Dash and Minty from the original 8
-
The first G3I ever bought was Minty. I recognised her by name and I remember checking her packaging and the backroom stock since I worked there making sure that they hadn't made a Snuzzle (my 1st pony) before buying her for my pony obsessed then baby sister. I thought it was a cute idea that I get her her first new mlp and that it was a re-imagining of one of my 1st mlps.
My 1st G3 was Periwinkle, followed by Loop-De-La and after that I got one here and there but mostly lived vicariously through my sister Hannah's growing collection.
That changed when Hannah and I started customizing and regularly picking up 'hair' ponies at the local thrift store. During this time my collection grew as ponies I'd learned about and grew to love from Hannah and we started seeking out ponies more both online and in the wild.
Now I'm not sure how many I have, I just know I have quite a few though less than I do G1s.
-
My first was styling Rainbow Dash. I remember the store having a bunch of styling Rarities and one last RD. I liked Rarity more but little me still picked out the last RD that was left. I still have her - her mane can not be saved anymore and there are patches of glue all over her because little me thought it was so cool to put all the stickers she came with onto her, but I don't think I will ever be getting rid of her, she is so special to me just because of all this.
-
I got 3 at once! I drove an hour to a toys r us that had them in stock! I ended up with kimono, sunny daze, and rainbow dash!
-
Well, I didn't buy them, but 4 of them mysteriously appeared in with my childhood ponies when I decided I wanted to take them from my parents' house. No one knows where they came from. My first thought was they had belonged to my youngest sibling, and she had acquired them after I was grown and out of the house, but the timing doesn't really match up. She would have been a teen in 2003 when G3s came out. My mom has no idea. They were Forsythia, Toola Roola (the purple with aqua hair version), Amberlocks, and Fluttershy. It took me a while to figure out their names, because I knew nothing about them.
-
I am not a G3 collector, although I have a small growing herd from G3's that have snuck into lots of G1's.
However, that being said, many many years ago I did buy one pony on purpose. I can't remember her name, but she is a greyish pony with fall leaves for her symbol. I think she may have been in a two-pack with an orange pony with fireworks symbol.
But I really liked the autumnal pony, so I actually did buy a G3 once upon a time.
-
Jazz Matazz and the baby pony that came with her (Wave Catcher?). In 2014.

Autumn Skye
-
i'm pretty sure it was Pumpkin Tart. I have a handful of G3 ponies. I would love to have more but i don't have a pony room right now.
-
Rainbow Dash, Wysteria, Sweetberry, Sunny Daze, Pinkie Pie and Kimono from Toys R' Us. Rainbow Dash is my favorite of those. I really like the Basic Fun version of her too.
-
I believe it was minty, and now I have a small army of her, I really like it a lot :)
-
My first was Pinkie Pie, followed by Minty. They were my OG pair and were best friends of course. Unfortunately they've been lost to time, I don't know what I did with them. I do remember I had trimmed Minty's hair because it was frizzy at the ends.
-
I got back into ponies with buying my daughter that radio controller scootaloo - On the Go with Scootaloo . So she was around 3 I would think it was 2007/8ish so I was late discovering the G3's
-
My very first was Scootaloo, the version with the magnet in her hoof.
-
Minty, minty, minty! Her mane and tail have faded to almost white and is a wonderfully frizzy mess (she went on a lot of adventures with me as a child!) I love the donkey pose for her
-
hm, i wish i knew what my VERY first ever G3 pony was as a kid. for my current collection, i would say it's either Strawberry Reef, or Sew-and-So  i can't remember which exactly i got first, i'll have to dig into my purchase history lol
-
As I recall Walmart had some single pony packs bundled together and I got Butterscotch and Sparkleworks. I saw them one time and couldn't stop thinking about them and I think I asked my mom get them for me the next time she went heh
-
I was given Coconut Grove as a birthday gift (my first G3), and later went out and bought Silver Glow.
