Title: What are your non- my little pony grails?
Post by: alaskaallie on September 01, 2017, 09:38:05 AM
I have been thinking about a horse that I used to LOVE:
http://www.darah.com/collection/jewelriders/toyguide.asp (http://www.darah.com/collection/jewelriders/toyguide.asp)
Moondance from Princess Guinevere and the Jewel Riders! I think I got it at a garage sale, I never had any of the accessories. I remember getting some of the dolls new, and I definitely took this horse to show-and-tell in preschool. Unfortunately, it went missing somehow and I would really like to replace it.... but it seems to sell for ~$200 on ebay
I had the deluxe princess Guinevere and deluxe Tamara as well- I still have the cat! Wish I had kept those as they seem to sell for quite a lot these days as well

You should be able to get Moondance for much less than that - I've had three or so of her go through my hands that I sold for under $25 as I recall although with no accessories and in varying conditions.

My non-MLP toy grail is Get Along Gang Dress-Up Kid Flora Fox.

Then there are my Breyer grails like Tortuga, Fortissimo, and Zeus, but the chances of my ever getting one of those is essentially zero.

That is good to hear!! I'd pay $30 in a heartbeat and I don't care about her accessories... I will have to keep an eye out. I suppose I have only seen them MIB and then the asking price is extreme. Ah Breyer.... I honestly try not to look. There are way too many stunning models which are too far out of my price range

For a long time mine was this, a Nature's Nursery locket.

I was finally able to get one earlier this year.

Spirit Stallion of the Cimmaron Bryers from when the movie was first released. By the time I saw the movie the Bryers were gone and they're so expensive now.  The one I want most of all is the set with Spirit, Rain and their colt.

The Little Mermaid 2: Melody doll. I wish I had picked her up when I had the chance.

I have a few grails one could say
*Care Bear plush Grams Bear with shawl- my grandma had her and I would sleep with her when I was there. She always smelled like my grandmas perfume
*Care Bear pvc minis of Hugs cutting paperdolls and Tugs stacking blocks-my aunt that recently passed away had all of the minis in a crystal bowl in her china hutch and she would let me play with them as a kid
*Purple Care Bear Sailing Away to Grandmothers suitcase like I had as a kid
Enchanted Kingdom 2nd edition of Nina with red accents instead of pink. I had one with all ber tack as a kid and she disappeared
Strawberry Shortcake movie Meets the Berrykins. I rented this a lot as a kid and have yet to find one since.
Glo Friends Prayerbug
Fisher Price Movie Viewer Theatre with Cinderella. Had this as a kid. I remember watching it on the wall in the upstairs hall way with my brothers

Congrats on finding the locket! I know what you mean- I have Rain in the traditional size but I just wasn't interested/didn't have enough pocket money for Spirit as well :c my friend had that a couple versions of that set... I looooved that movie and wish I had tried to get more merch when it first came out.

I don't think Spirit had a lot of merchandise when it was out so that's probably what makes it more expensive. I think I have a cancelation stamp on and envelope of Spirit on a card.

The locket took years for me to find. For a long time I couldn't remember what it was called and no one else I talked to remembered "a locket that you wore around your neck and planted seeds in."

I thought of another one, Barbie color change jewelry. It was plastic jewelry for kids to wear with color changing jewels that you could pop out of the jewelry pieces. My set was pink with red plastic jewels. I've only seen a set on Ebay rarely and don't remember what happened to my set.  A lot of sets were probably broken or thrown away when children stopped playing with them.

They were 90's toys! If I remember correctly they came out in '95 to go with a very short lived TV show. However, I grew up in Alaska and so they were still in the shops 3-5 years later when I would have gotten them.

Yeah, I can't use PayPal or eBay, and the cheapest Amazon listing is about £95. Maybe if I win the lottery...

Mighty Morphing Power Rangers Season 1 to 3 on DVD (got a season one set but the backs in foreign writing, episodes are in English)

Build a bear Power Rangers outfits (got red rangers outfit on the way with the bear who's going the red ranger).

A whole army of build a bears for my favourite power rangers from all of the different seasons minus a few seasons as I don't like them.

Bears I've got so far for Power Rangers:

Billy (Original MMPR)

Cassie (Power Rangers in Space, I know she was another Power Ranger but I can't remember which series)

Kendrix (First Power Rangers Lost Galaxy Ranger, before her sacrifice)

Jason (Original MMPR, on the way)

Any of the Pikmin Agatsuma figures :) I loooove them but they tend to go for $$$ on eBay, haha.

Also the Italian version of Ojamajo Doremi Poppu. -pokes doll in avatar- She's pretty much the same as the Japanese release, except that she seems to turn up even less than the JP ver (which is saying something :P) and comes with the most *darling* extra outfit.. *w* Heck, all the Italian Doremi dolls I'm missing really, haha. They're so cute.

It is so disappointing to find that things we took completely for granted as kids are now nowhere to be found, or cost the earth. I remember going to the library with my mom and my favourite books to borrow from there where the What-a-Mess books by Frank Muir. So, when I had kids of my own I decided that I would like to share these books with them. Only to find that they seem to have disappeared out of SA without a trace. It is hard to even find someone who has ever heard of them. In 9 years of searching second hand stores and online, I have found..... two

I'd love a Kitty Care someday, preferably Winston or Monty.
Plushes of Boni and Drutt from Trapdoor (saw a giant Drutt once - should've got it when I had the chance!)
And perhaps a bit of an odd grail, a Flipper bubble bath bottle. Technically not a toy but I remember playing with it a lot as a kid and absolutely loving it; the bottle was like an ocean wave and the cap was a plastic dolphin. To this day, I haven't managed to find a single thing to that effect online. D:
(But in searching I have built quite a respectable collection of plush dolphins... 100% worth it!)

For me that is Galaxia from the moon dreamers line

Dozer wears removable earmuffs, and carries and magic wand. I have his earmuffs but not him
Stumbles removable hat and sunglasses.
Stardust cape and bucket of stardust.

I have the last two but not their accessories, I also want dream central and the dream along drifter play set complete.

As well as trying to find ursa minor.

My Magic Genies Sparkling Palace.

It was never released in stores to anyone's knowledge but it was actually produced. No idea how many actually got made though. I missed it on ebay last year from one of the people who worked on the toy line.

I have wanted that thing when I was little so badly and still do.

Those two sets do occasionally pop up for auction and sell at much smaller price tags though ;) You just really have to watch closely. I've seen auctions for all those sets end in the $20 - $40 range on multiple occasions. Normally when I don't have spare cash to bid myself lol.

I found a pic on Ebay of the Barbie color change jewelry. My set was like the one in the corner. This is not my picture.

Well.... I actually got my grail last summer from my Mum for my birthday  he is something I have wanted for years.

It's this Rupert the Bear ... (the cleaner one on the left  ) The one on the right I have had since the day I was born (mum actually brought him for me before I was born though  )

My original one goes everywhere with me on every single holiday (always in my hand luggage wouldn't risk him going in my suitcase)
As you can see my original one is extremely well loved, he isn't fluffy at all anymore (you can actually see his mouth compared to the newer one), he has been sewn up by mum several times over the years, stuffing falling out here and there, lost one of his shoe laces (can't actually seem them in the pics really)

I actually forgot what he looked liked originally  that is why for years I have wanted another one of him that is perfect to sit next to my original one

Mum & me do actually have a major grail we have wanted for years now, it's something mum again brought when I was very little then due to family troubles he ended up somewhere he shouldn't of then was destroyed by mice & rats
Can't find a picture of it anywhere to show you.

Basically it is a HUGE (it was like double the size of me when I was 5) White Dog that was sold in Harrods for the Great Ormond Street Hospital here in the UK.
I don't think we will ever find this... can't even find a picture of it .. but you never know *fingers crossed*  ^.^

  Hehe thank you.
Was so happy when I saw him  ^.^ couldn't believe what mine actually used to look like, my original ones nose is basically as flat as a pancake to his face, the newer one actually has quite a pointy nose (more like an actual bear) I knew mine was supposed to stick out but didn't realise it was by that much

Oh man! I have so many, but my tops are as follows:
Balto and Jenna laying down plushes (very expensive on ebay)
Princess Sally Acorn merchandise (from the Sonic The Hedgehog Saturday morning cartoon) I'd especially love to find the beanie plush, hand puppet, mug and Avon bottle head of her. Merchandise of her was sold at a short lived theme park in Sydney, Australia making it impossible to find as well as pricey!

Care bears cousins of the horse, monkey, cat, and dog.

Wuzzles babies plushes (still new to me. I think sold mostly in UK)

Glow worms Dipper Duck and Country mouse for the glow worms

Gina, Feelin' Fancy Chloe and Feelin' Fancy Joelle from Fashion Star Fillies line.

Carla from the Mattel Little Pretty Kitties line.

Huge Sonic the Hedgehog plush sold over 20 years ago. Only saw him once on ebay back in 2002.

Huge Meeko the raccoon plush from Disney's Pocahontas. I think he was a store prize you had to win.

Those are my main wants. It seems harder to find stuff on ebay nowadays since they seem to cater more to retail giants.

Is it the jumbo size Meeko plush you're mentioning? I have one I've been trying to sell for forever and have wanted it to go to a good home. It's from when I was a kid (just putting that out there ^.^)

My holy grail items are:
Littlest Pet Shop Splashtime pets (first generation)
The mini horses from Fantasy Fillies (need 5 to complete)
Various starcastles

that's about it hehe. I'm pretty happy with what I have so far....

I had a couple of What a Mess books, I absolutely loved them :lovey:

My major grails are the Flower Fairies Tree House -

I've never even seen it IRL, I don't even remember seeing it when I was a kid. There are a few Flower Fairies I still want, plus the toadstools and the snail.

I also really want some loose and MOC Flower Fingers sets.

These were made by Hornby, but weren't Flower Fairies. I loved them so much when I was little, they made the perfect companion set to my Flower Fairies and my MLP.

Care Bears:

'80s 13" Proud Heart Cat, Noble Heart Horse, & Treat Heart Pig.  Aside from them my CB collection is nearly complete.  Until they do a line where all characters (new & vintage, bears & cousins) are all available in the same style, my policy is to only pick up one example of each new character.

Nellie O'Malley, the American Girl doll. She was Samantha's friend and was released for a few years. I've wanted her ever since. She's online for a few hundred dollars, I hope someday to get her.

Points to sig.

Searches aren't useful since the line was just a Dollar store toy and most people have probably forgotten what they are. I know they are out there I just can't find them.

Fun thread!

Oh man.

This very hard to find Kenner LPS set-

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Yes, I almost never see that set up for sale! I guess that's because it's the second release. I also am after some LPS, like the brown and white Take Care pup and the Easter bunnies.

My current grail is Tokidoki Unicorno Sakura. So pretty! And too expensive for me to justify buying.

I think my grail right now is the Disney Treasures DVD sets. I have a few but I was just out of high school when they released and couldn't afford them. Now I can but I'm too stingy for some of the going prices!

Hoooooly smokes I never knew that Wrinkles plush existed! It looks like a costume someone could fit into! XD

I have a TON of 80's toy wants, but especially:
- - Castle Keeps Gargoyles - I have three, might be getting two more soon, and otherwise will only need the yellow one and the pink one with purple horns. I'd LOVE to find any in really super poor condition to customize (like really REALLY poor since they're SO rare) and them all mint on card!
- Yum Yums - I'm only missing 4 of the party ones... Merry Marshmallow Rabbit, Candy Apple Kitty, Gigglin Gumball Mouse, Teddy Cakes Bear. I especially adore Merry Marshmallow!
- Hooks plush - Raccoon & Elephant are all I need!
- Pet Surprise from the 90's - The light lavender sitting kitty, light lavender laying kitty, light lavender bear and light lavender sitting pony!
- Any Happy Ness plushes, they're so sweet!
I also super want to complete my collection of My Magic Kissing Dragons :)
You can find images of all these things on ghostofthedoll.co.uk!

Bigger list is in the link in my sig. :D

I collect Raikou from Pokemon... So for sure I'd love both the 2010 shiny Raikou pokedoll lottery prize and the giant Raikou plush. The giant I've seen for sale once- for $4k

That ENORMOUS Lion King plush that is either Simba or Mufasa, I don't really care which, the point is it's like as tall as I am.

I used to own one of the Simba Plushes. He was 5ft tall and beautiful. Due to lack of space I convinced myself to sell him...somedays I regret it :/

I am a bit pony obsessed, so thinking of grails outside of MLP collecting is a bit hard. So I did some serious thinking, and let's see.

I admit that if I had the money, I would still like the IT doll for Graphix. She never made the Jem show, but I know she's associated with the Misfits, so she's the gap in my collection. But I bought my IT dolls when I was working, and now I'm a full time student, that's more difficult. Prices have gone up, and exchange rate has got worse. It's just not practical. I would like her, one day, I think.

I'd also like the outfit for Stormer that they released (I think of it as Makin' Mischief, I don't even know what IT is calling it) because it's pretty and my Stormer doll would like it. But again, money. If money wasn't an object, I would buy BBU Kimber and Stormer, or at least rebel Kimber because she's almost a Misfit. But it probably won't happen.

Outside of that...I recently got the MH and EAH dolls I had most wanted - Gloom & Bloom Jinafire, and Justine Dancer. But I wouldn't call them grails. Grails are something more than that I think.

Oh, I thought of something. It is a grail of mine, and has been for a long time.

I am a fan of the Japanese manga and anime Saiyuuki. There are dolls of the four main characters with actual hair, as opposed to being figures. They're really not common. I lucked out and got Sanzou, somehow, off Yahoo.jp ages ago. He's still the only one I have. I really want Hakkai and especially Gojou. I have never even seen them for sale, though, not even in Japan :/ So I guess they're grails.
Spoiler

I have the blond one (not my images). The other one is the grail ;)

I also want the doll for Takagi Shimon from SotsuM, but that's a bit different. I have seen him for sale lots of times. I just don't want to buy the whole set of dolls to get him, because it's a lot on shipping, and I already have the two from the series I want, one of them twice O.o.

Finally, it's not so much a grail, but there is a ton of Genpei related stuff in Japan that I didn't get to bring home with me. Modern merchandise of mediaeval Japan is really interesting to me. And that's almost a collection in its own right now for me. Anything Taira related is good with me - most of the stuff I find is Yoshitsune related or Genji. I guess if there's anything out there that has Munemori involved in it, that's my grail. That may be weird, but that's where my academia meets my hobbies ;)
