What do you want to accomplish for 2018?

What do you want to accomplish in your first three months?

1. Temperature blanket finished
2. Selling my crafts wings and knitted projects
3. Play piano and prep for grad school
4. Feel better about my physical appearance
5. Save to do advent swap and pageant competition

What do I want to accomplish in the first 3 months?
1. Knit 3 days a week progressing to daily
2. Play piano twice a week, working towards 3 days a week, and then daily
3. Work out like a rock star. Start with 2 days a week and work in a daily workout.

Oo, I've been watching the last thread from afar, I'd love to join in this one!
In 2018, I want to accomplish:
1. Keep up with my coursework, no procrastinating or delaying assignment submissions.
2. Get into exercise to bring my weight up and keep myself healthy
3. Improve my eating habits, include more vegetables and fruit
4. Stay out of bed, do more things, create more

What do I want to accomplish in the first 3 months?
1. Get a bit of exercise in every day to build strength in my arms. Do a little bit every day.
2. Make myself more full meals. No protein bars unless I'm strapped for time, if I have the means to make a filling breakfast then I should.
3. Keep a planner of some sort or start to use a calendar app PROACTIVELY. None of my "write it down, ignore it" nonsense. Use this for coursework and other obligations.
4. Work on animatics or animations as an outlet for creativity. Stick to a project for at least a month, work on it once a day.

I've been watching the last thread, and I think I will join this round! Couldn't join the last round as I wasn't on the Arena yet, so I'm excited to have an opportunity!

What do you want to accomplish for 2018?
1. Draw ponies at least two times a week, moving toward daily drawing (I really want to improve, as they are one of my favorite things to draw!)
2. Practice my Gaelic at every day (I just started learning, super excited! I've always wanted to learn how to speak Gaelic!!)
3. Post in this thread at least twice a week
4. Write how I did every week in my planner (keeping score basically)

What do you want to accomplish in your first three months?
1. Have at least ten pony drawings finished
2. Be kinda fluent in Gaelic (not too high of an expectation here as I'm slow)
3. Being active in this thread
4. Having a good score every week
5. Not giving up!

Yay! Another Healthy Pony :) I hope I can keep my motivation up and stick with my goals better

Ponyfan's sign up

In 2018 I want to accomplish,

1. Keep working out at least 2-4 times a week

2. Either walk or do stationary bike each day

3. Make healthier food choices and watch portion sizes

3 is going to be one of the hardest for me. This is where I usually fail as often time and convience win out over healthy food

5. Keep going even if I fail

6. Lose a few pounds

What do you want to accomplish in your first three months?

Making better food choices

Trying to either walk or do the stationary bike every day unless I'm sick.

Have my motivation filled up at least half way (I get on marble for each lap I walk or 1 for each working day as I am on my feet a lot at work.)

Welcome back ponyfan and gliterball:) this will be fun with the two of you:)

Thank you, Crowning_Glory13, although I do tend to ramble somewhat!

Just had a bath and, after 3 days of munch, munch, munch I noticed my tummy was wobbling a little bit too much  so January I resolve to get back on track and NOT WEIGH MYSELF until 1st February!

That way, I am not miserable over what ever pounds I may have gained over the festive period  and then by Feb the scales will look friendlier, heheh

I've enjoyed doing this so I'm gonna do it as long as I can!

In 2018 I want to accomplish:
1. Get art projects under control.
2. Print the pictures I want to put in my scrapbook.
3. Get closer to caught up on my scrapbook (I'm still working on 2008 so there's a long way to go with this one).
4. Continue to lose weight/inches.
5. Do number 4 by remembering to walk on the treadmill more regularly.

What do you want to accomplish in your first three months?
1. Actually remember to post on this thread.  I think that's the thing I've been worst at on the last two I've done
2. Take pictures of the art projects I've finished and share them on here like I said I would for the last round.
3. Walk on the treadmill at least 4 times a week.  I just bought a bunch of shows in Japanese so that I can watch them while I walk. I don't speak Japanese so I have to read the subtitles, which is something I can do while I walk on the treadmill.  I tend to put in movies to listen to while I clean or paint so if I have to read the subtitles, I don't get to watch them as often.  If I tell myself I'm only allowed to watch those while I'm walking then wanting to watch the shows will make me want to walk.
4. Try not to re-sprain my knee so that I can walk on the treadmill (which is how I got off track in the first place!)
5. Finish at least one story that I was working on during Nanowrimo.

I've been thinking about joining one of these for a while. Seems like a good time!

1. Reach a healthy weight
2. Create four 3D models
3. Complete the ADF Dedicant path
4. Organize the apartment

What do you want to accomplish in your first three months?
1. Return to eating 80/20 primal
2. Workout daily, starting with twice a week
3. Practice 3D modeling twice a week, end goal of 10 hours a week
4. Follow the study guide and meditate daily

Never joined this before, but always wanted to!

In 2018, I want to accomplish,

- Managing my emotions better. I'm still prone to outbursts and self-blaming  >_<
- Clear up some "clutter" areas in my life (my room, storage boxes, phone photos... you get the idea ;) )
- Some significant advances in either drawing, animation, world building or storytelling

What do you want to accomplish in your first three months?
- Stop biting my nails, round 2. This year I achieved something, but I fell back into the habit ^^;
- Get a good deal of my thesis done! I lazied out this year, and I better get going!

I'll be adding more as I come up with them. Good luck to you all!

I'm definitely joining, I like having a log to keep me focused - it's a nice reminder to keep going. Plus having the group is awesome.

What do you want to accomplish for 2018?
1. Participate in the church's craft bazaar in November (my first craft show)
2. Keep up with daily postings
3. Do more actual book reading
4. Temperature blanket-ish project thing
5. Sort/organize craft room

What do you want to accomplish in your first three months?
1. Prep for the bazaar by crafting things throughout the year (1 mailbox ornament and 1 card holder per month)
2. Make a weekly schedule of posts, not just throwing up anything to have a post for the day
3. Not sure yet
4. Need to brainstorm, maybe a monthly bookmark.
5. Get serious about it. Also set up a photography area.

Oh this seems fun and motivating. There are few things I wanna do next year.

What do you want to accomplish for 2018?
- Get a graphic pen table
- Start to bicycle again

What do you want to accomplish in your first three months?
- Getting my closet cleaned and in order fully.
- Throwing away all the useless stuff I have in my cupboard.

Not really anything else, I jogg and walk alot, but in the winter I usually dont really jogg, but start it in the early spring. Our weather sucks so much, that its icey and wet and cold. Dont really go out side when its like that.

Hey gorgeous people, sorry I'm late, but I'm baaack! last round was so awesome, I need to get on this again:

In 2018, I want to accomplish:
1. Get my diet on track for good. Smaller portions, healthier, more natural foods.
2. Bring my stamina back up after being ill, and push it even further. I want to be able to climb the massive hill from the train station to work without breaking a sweat!
3. Lose some weight. I need to slim down.
4. Organise my life. This includes both physical possessions and my emotional baggage. I need to kick my own butt outta my funk!

What do I want to accomplish in the first 3 months?
1. Get my stamina back to what it was before I got sick. My job was pretty easy with my level of fitness, but getting sick has set me back quite a bit, and I'm struggling!
2. Get all of my stuff in order - I need to sort out my things, and have less clutter and mess.
3. Sort my planner... I've been procrastinating this month, and I have to help sort hubby's out too.. the man is hopeless!
4. Start food prepping on a regular basis for future use. I'm too often in a hurry and just grabbing unhealthy things because I can't be bothered cooking something healthier. Warming something pre-made and healthy would be just as quick, and I know it's healthy!
5. Re-organise my pony collection. Sell all of my duplicate things, they take up so much space, and I don't even want them!

Okay 2018, let's go - it's gonna be our year!

I'm going to have another go and not fall off the horse this time! :hope:

In 2018 I want to accomplish:
1. Make the time to get out in the forest and countryside more often
2. Get comfortable with playing the violin and continue learning new skills on the guitar
3. Vary my diet a bit more, I'm pretty well-behaved when it comes to eating healthy but there's not much variety happening and I'm a bit bored at the moment
4. Improve sleeping patterns so I don't keep waking up in the middle of the night

What do I want to accomplish in the first 3 months?
1. Practise the violin and guitar at least 3 times a week, staying conscious of when I hit a plateau with things and work out how best to move forward
2. Going for a nature walk once a week, preferably in the hills but I'll settle for a little wander through the semi-rural areas surrounding my town if it's too rainy/windy in the higher areas
3. Try some different food at least once each week
4. Dedicate the last couple of hours before bed to reading, meditation and chillout music

((Aaaand I forgot to consider what the rewards would be for meeting these goals - whoops! On that front, I'll probably treat myself to a Pogles' Wood storybook - they're not particularly easy to find nowadays but the effort is worth it, the ones I've seen so far are really beautiful!))

Bring it on, 2018!

I play piano, so I might be able to help with music halt.

Hey, I'm new to this! 2018 is looking like a huge turning point for me so I think it'd be fun to sign on here

What do you want to accomplish for 2018?

1. go back to school!
2. lose a little bit of weight, or at the very least, get a little bit stronger/more fit
3. preserve/dry/etc more of my own food at home

What do you want to accomplish in your first three months?

1. pester my doctor for new knee and wrist braces so I can excercise safely
2. dance as excercise 3-4 days a week
3. kick this post surgery fatigue once and for all lol
4. start meal planning/prepping for 2 meals per day
5. finish my pony restoration project box
6. get out shopping for some new clothes because I have like... 3 clothes right now
7. give myself a proper bedtime

let's go!! 2018 woohoo!!

Ok so I want to sign up, but how often do we have to check in?

What do you want to accomplish for 2018?

Health, Good Thoughts, Self Appreciation, Creative Expression

1. Eat less sugar
2. Read my studies daily to help my thoughts be more positive
3. Stop Shopping so much save money in a jar instead
4. Go through my stuff in storage and get rid of most of it
5. Uplift notes for R2 (Changed due to nerve damage flare ups)
6. Just quit being so hard on myself and focus on good things about me blaaaa

What do you want to accomplish in your first three months?

1. The first week I would like to limit my sugar intake to one special item a day.
2. The second week I would like to move that to every other day.
3. Then the third week I would like to move that to once a week and leave it there for the rest of the months.

1. For my non school related studies I just want to be better at reading my devotions and a chapter each day.
2. Memorize a favorite verse even once a week.
3. I admit I have a shopping problem, so I need to stop all this shopping.  It kind of goes with being in pain and sick all the time. I need to figure out how I am going to manage this without depressing myself. The first thing I want to do is save the money I would normally spend on something for an entire month and see how much money that turns out to be.  I would like to come up with a jar saving system for things I want rather than just buying everything I see.  I need to save more than I spend.
4.  Go through 2 boxes in the storage unit a week and throw away at least half if not all of what I have there.
5. Replaced quilting idea with notes for R2

Last but not least I must quit being so hard on myself. I have a very hard life and I am so mean to myself.  I really would like to start cutting myself some slack and figure out how to love myself again.  When you have a physical disability and people are coming down on you all of the time, this is really hard.  I can't change the lack of understanding about my health issues in some people.  Perhaps, I can find a way to get away from the mean people that always want to bring me down because of what they think I should be doing.  I have a federally declared disability.   I can't do these things regardless of how many people are just so sure I can.

I've almost got my bullet journal setup for next year. The exercise log and 3D modelling log have dedicated spots, the Dedicant Path has its own journal, and I got a jump start on the healthy eating (batch cooking is awesome).

I'll be recording starting stats on Sunday and doing my best to check in once a week on this thread.

ARGH I crapped out very early last year... then I got back into trying to practice habits... but then I was terrible at recording it all down!

What do you want to accomplish for 2018?
1.  Budgeting our food, no more than $150 weekly per person
2.  Some kind of exercise regime
3.  Employment!
4.  Have that yard sale I've talked about for years...
5. Get the floor to ceiling bookshelves installed so we can have our manga back in the house!!!

What do you want to accomplish in your first three months?
1.  Some serious meal prep and planning so we only have to reach in the freezer, no more "it's 9pm and dinner's nowhere to be found"
2.  Get the DH's LEGO collection sorted properly so we have the Man Cave  returned to us, instead of an avalanche of chaos waiting to happen, what with bins and boxes and Honey-Do projects :D

Once we have a Man Cave space again, we have to haul most of the living room furniture into the garage, then assemble shelving, then drag everything back to its new place.  and then I can think about all the other sorting and cleaning and goals... right now we are living amongst storage bins and dust bunnies so it's hard to think!

Today marks the end of my crazy schedule. I was working two jobs and teaching music lessons on the side. So Sunday was my only day off....I was working nights. Now the holiday chaos is over I will be lucky to work my second job once a week for four hours. I would like more than that, but it’s nice to have a break. I talked to my husband, and he says now I can start knitting to sell:) I am so excited for some extra time.

Healthy pony will be starting soon. I allow sign ups at anytime. So excited to get my self going on a fresh start and new year.

Happy early New Year everyone!
Tomorrow I've got an early shift, which will help me kick off the year. When I get up I'll make my bed and make a meal for myself, probably an omelette. When I'm back I'll try to stay at my desk, even though it's cold.
Tomorrow should be fairly easy for me to accomplish my goals.

OK - day 1 of the new year -

MFP - fired-up and food diary resumed (after Christmas break)
Pint glass ready for getting back into my water-drinking regime
Gym resumes - Crossfit session booked for Tuesday morning
You-tube Denise workout planned for later today...
progress Milestone date set - 1st week of March - that's 2 months to see what I can achieve from now!

For my sanity I am NOT weighing myself today - I KNOW that some weight has crept on over Christmas but I will not make myself miserable over it, will weigh in March.  The fit/looseness of my clothes will be my guide until then!

Craft - will draw a motivational 2-month paper calendar with pictures + cute stuff to keep things fun.

Life -
kid's school bits n bobs all sorted for back-to-school later this week
Solicitor housey paperwork to be filled in today + scanned, then sent off tomorrow (may deliver this by hand instead of relying on post)
Gym gear all washed + folded + in one place ready to rock n roll!
Begin de-cluttering home + shed of unused stuff (outgrown books/toys/clothes) - take to charity store

ETA -
husband upgrading my old phone to a new one... was on the "Gingerbread" operating system (6 years - so old!!) so hopefully will be able to take advantage of using decent apps now!

 :good: :coffee:

I won't being to much towards my goals...my husband and I have the day off, so we are spending together. That means we are being lazy and enjoying treats:) I will be knitting as I have a late gift to finish,  hopefully done by today. By Wed this week it needs to be done. I am going to go over all my goals for 2018, so I might adjust my first post.

So here is to a New Year, and a New Heathy You:)

I'm putting together the rest of my bullet journals for 2018, batch cooking for the week and doing my benchmark exercise test. I'd like to get some cello practice in before the end of the day and I've got some errands to complete.

Looking forward to seeing just how much I can actually do, so I can compare how far I've come in a month when I do the test again in February.

Today will be pretty light because of social activities last night (had a great time with my neighbors ^.^) I'm probably going to review each lesson of my Gaelic as I have learned a bunch of new lessons lately and need to practice. If I'm not too tired I will draw and work on the flimsy wing photo contest :) I hope today is a great first day for you all!

Today is my first day without sugar.  I am feeling it.  Just about now I would love some LOL.  Not giving into myself at all.

My arm is numb and I can't feel my fingers so sewing or drawing for me is out. I may need to shelve that idea of making the quilt and replace it with something that I can realistically do.  So, today I am going to think of something else that won't be harmful to my neck.

I did read my chapter and memorized my verse for the this week already.  The business is closed so I can't go through boxes until tomorrow, but I have a week to go through two boxes I think. Gotta check my goals.  I may also just use google voice and send them in a text.  That way if my hand is numb I don't have to write them.

I think my replacement activity for the sewing is to write my husband little uplifting notes about how special he is at least once a week and put them in his lunch bag.

Love the hubby notes. You have all year to do the quilt. So take each day as it comes. My temprature blanket is on two years now, but I wirk at it when I can:)

Not pushing myself to be too productive today, last day to rest before back to work (woke up with an upset stomach, and trying to avoid getting hubby's cold). But I have been getting some daily posts scheduled for Twitter and Facebook, so that's something. Got the first week of January done, which was my goal, now just filling in other days as inspiration strikes.

Any actual crafting today will just be my own project, nothing for the store.

Oh and I updated my goals post because I want to get some more actual book reading done this year.
Awww, forgot I wanted to do something related to a temperature blanket too...just not sure what yet (hmm...maybe a monthly bookmark). At least that can build up for a bit while I collect daily temperatures. Right now that's easy = COLD!

Woke up ill and with a terrible headache... ah.  And I didn't drink!

We have eaten all the food stockpiled over the holidays so that we didn't have to leave the house... so I need to meal plan for the week.  I don't want to go outside, it's too cold!

More job applications to put in... *sigh*

Happy new year everyone! I've got a big pot of veggie broth simmering in my slow cooker for day 1 of my elimination diet to get my stomach issues under better control. :9

My first day of healthy activities involved...
- Going out for a walk and caught some sunshine while it lasted - even got home just before it started raining!
- Got some practice in on the guitalele, trying to smooth out my sloppy chord changes, my goal for tomorrow is to get the proper guitar out for a bit and tackle the next part of a song that turned out the be more difficult than I thought it'd be. :P
- Made a start on my diary for the year, my main aim for that is to make it a book of achievements and memories that will be worth looking back on the future. So many of last year's days in the diary were crossed out, it was kind of a drag to look through it.

It’s been a stressful start to the New Year for me. The only thing I’ve really accomplished is not overeating as I had a really late lunch and just ate what I put on my plate plus a slice of pineapple. Now I’m hungry again. :( I did look for a new calander at the store but didn’t see any I liked.

I did start working on a prop for the photo contest and cleaned up a little also.

Congrats to everyone that has made progress today and to those who are t feeling well Ihope you feel better soon.

My shift made my goals easy, as I can't do retail work in bed!
I cooked up a bacon and cheese omelette for breakfast, and for lunch I had some fruit. Proud of myself for picking the fruit option today.
Although my shift was rather tiresome, I'm going to try to draw something tonight. I want to pick a song or animation to try to create. After dinner I'll try to clean up my room a bit and find some arm exercises to do.

I probably won't get to walk on the treadmill much until my sister's family goes home this week, so until then I'm going to enjoy my niece and nephews.  This weekend I'm planning on doing some major cleaning to get my space ready for the new year and then I can get to work on my various art projects that need finishing.

Friends and family time needs to come first:)

So I got productive today. I had to bake treats for my piano students Christmas presents. Three out of my 4 students are from India, so I thought a Norwegian treat Kringla would be fun...not a healthy treat by any means.

I have been knitting like a mad woman to finish a scarf....worried I won’t make it. I hope by Wed.

I took a break and made some peacock flutter pony wings...they were harder than I thought. I was able to make two:)

Fab peacock flutter wings!

Tulagirl - hope you feel better soon!

Well done everyone for working through Day 1 - even if you feel you may not have done as well as you could have, the fact that you ARE signed-up means that you are already on the way! We have 364 more days to have a try

So, day 1 was a success, I stayed within my calorie limit and logged everything on to my MFP food diary.

Popping my essay under a spoiler  :P
Spoiler

Drank a LOT of water - too much, though! Too many trips to "the facilities" and generally an annoyance.
Went on an early grocery shop + got fish + veggies. Steamed cod and veggies with a splash of sweet chilli dipping sauce was for supper whilst lunch involved cold chicken leftovers + salad, canned artichokes + sweet plum sauce.

Day 2 - carry on as day 1 BUT: stagger water consumption and limit to one glass per "session" to allow my body to process it

Looking after the kiddo today as husband is at work + school starts Thurs: have made plans for her fitness too!
I have made enquiries for swimming lessons (she loves splashing around but cannot swim properly) at a local private school (only 4 kids per class, lovely heated pool, bit more expensive but I want her to be taught properly) so am awaiting their response - meanwhile I shall pop to the shops today to get her a new swimming cozzie!

Gym - oh dear.

Guess what - I have cancelled my Crossfit membership!
AND have applied to return to my old gym  I miss the workouts so much, yes, the long drive there is a pain but their style of workout was what really worked for me in 2017. Gotta get back! Hope to start end Jan/start Feb, as I use up my remaining Jan CF membership. Crossfit is good - lots of strength and weightlifting which is super for building healthy bones in ladies - but I personally enjoyed the faster-paced HIIT sessions (more cardio) at my old gym better. I can still return to my CF gym at £10 a session, if I just want to drop in.

Those flutter wings look beautiful! It's really interesting to see all the different solutions people have come up with for missing wings! :)

Day 2 has mostly been going good so far...
Spoiler
- Not holding out much hope for getting out in the countryside this week because the wind and rain are out in force, and it'll be 10 times worse up in the hills. I've still gone out for a walk around town and to pick up some bits, though.
- Curling up under a blanket all afternoon was incredibly tempting after getting rained on, but I did the right thing, got the guitar out and learned the next part of the song I've been working on. Turns out the chorus part is actually much easier than the intro and as a reward, I did a bit of improvised folk kind of stuff until the muscles in my hand were going "That's enough!"
- Also fixed an old amplifier and did a little bit on the violin to make sure it worked properly, so my aim for tomorrow is to dedicate some time to learning something new and to carry on improving my bow technique. At the minute I'm still getting out of that beginner's kind of tentative, sluggish bowing that doesn't make for a particularly good sound.
- For lunch I tried a different kind of vegetable soup from my usual go-to variety; it wasn't bad, just a little bit bland. There's still half of it left for tomorrow, so I'm going to try adding some herbs to liven it up a bit.
- And the one stumbling block was improving my sleeping patterns, I still woke up a couple of times during the night. :/

Day 2/365:

Want to go shopping but need to shovel snow off truck.  Waaaaah so lazy, can't shop in my PJ's...

Had 5 pounds of white flour EXPLODE all over my kitchen floor this AM.

If I can get into the shed, I may be able to get out the DVD's for sale and list them on Amazon.

We got sime great starts today. I made the decision to push my scarf project to finished by Sunday night. I have an evening work meeting, so my time is cut down. I promised the person a Monday meet up, so it has to be done by Sunday. There is a food truck at my work....it looks so good and portion size is big and the price is smalll...its so hard to resist.

I was really happy, I actually drew a template for a quilt block for unicorns to start with.  I am using a coloring book for line art, but have changed it up somewhat in order to make the applique work more simple for me.  Then I stopped. No more of that for a couple of days.  I did my reading, memorizing and even wrote R2 a note which I stuck on the mirror.  He has been down lately. I am determined to make him feel good about himself again.  Staying off of sugar is a huge, tough job. I have managed it for the last 24 hours, but the cravings have nearly killed me. I have stuck to my plan though in spite of that. No sugar! I can have one nice thing a week, but I am almost afraid to try that for fear I will start craving it all over again.  Why oh why am I so obsessive with everything?  I wish I was the kind of person that could eat 4 pieces of candy from a box of Dots and be happy with that.  No, I would like one box for breakfast and one for dinner. Shakes head and walks in shame.  The good news is I have stayed off the sugar, but I can't say I am feeling normal. LOL  Not shopping is just about the same level of difficult.  I am obsessed with vintage fabrics.  Today I let myself look at them but bought nothing so far.  Boy some habits are super hard to break.

I went to Ikea with my family today and ate there so full meal wasn't too hard. I do wish I got more breakfast in, though. Just a banana, which is better than nothing, I suppose.
Being out of the house made it easy to stay active. Getting any exercise done is much harder than I thought...I'm just going to try to do some pushups to help build arm strength.

So I got offered a piece of rice crispie treat... it was free so technically not an extra, but still regret it. I started out so positive...and it crashed. I was at a daycare but at low pay but full time hours. But my husband talked me into a higher paying temp job with the possibility of being permanent. Well it has not been full time hours like I was told by temp agency...just tired or working so hard, and still living in my inlaws basement.

I did play piano 15min and worked out for 15min. That is huge for me. It's so hard to feel happy right now. Sigh I will be Jon hunting this weekend again:)

I really believe that the right job is going to come along and eventually with a lot of work and faith you guys will be out of that basement and in your own little home.  You just gotta believe it to be so.  So what about the rice krispie treat girlie.  I remember all the snacks offered me at work.  That is why I gained the weight I gained. It was that crazy break room full of food every Friday. Ugggg and then the never ending staff birthday cakes.  Honestly, companies need to quit doing this to us LOL.  I went on and on about how I was not going to eat sugar and caved and ate a box of dots.  So today was not our day.  We will start again tomorrow lol.  I have been sitting here at home trying to figure out how I was going to tell you about my royal screw up today. :shakefist: :cheer:

Well, to be fair, due to health issues my only treat is Dots. Baaaaa if I could be eating Pizza girlie I would be eating a whole box topped with sour cream and Doritos. Tomorrow is another day, thank goodness we get do over's.  I need a major do over, but I did accomplish a lot today in spite of my box of Dots. tee hee  I am so excited. It is going to snow in Houston again tonight.  Squeeeeee

Don’t give up. Everyone gives in sometimes. Trying to stay away from sugar and extra treats at work is hard.  During the first rounds of healthy pony if I messed up by giving in to cravings I would worry about having to admit it here but everyone was so encouraging and Crowing_Glory helped motivate me to keep trying. Tomorrow is a brand new day so if you failed today try again tomorrow.

I walked 3 rounds at the mall. I did eat a big lunch but only ate a small snack later. I might eat another though as I’m hungry again.

Safflower, what are you using to learn Gaelic? I sometimes power up DuoLingo and play with some Irish lessons. I think my longest streak was 10 days.

I've eaten pretty well today, only had one Dove Smooth Milk Chocolate with Caramel (I was craving sweets and it was that or a giant chocolate chip cookie). Did some chores, but now I'm so tired all I really want to do is crash for the night. I need to cook lunch for tomorrow and make sure everything is where it needs to be for a good start to the morning.

Oh no - don't feel bad if you had a few stumbles today! We are only just starting 2018 - here comes day 3!

Spoiler
After buying some swimming kit, my kid wanted the beany boo happy meal toys at the local McDonalds so I nibbled on a few fries + 1/2 a cheeseburger - I logged my calories - just meant I had to do without a pudding later on in the day.  >_<

Packets of crisps were winking at me yesterday - I had a few calories spare to allowed myself a handful - ooh how I would have loved to have scoffed the whole packet!!  I just had a taster then a glass of water, which seemed to calm my craving.

Took my kid to her first proper, private swimming lesson, she had a ball! It's making me think about taking her to the public pool to practise her new moves (using noodles + floats).

Awoke at 1am this morning - storm Eleanor causing my kid's window to bang open/shut, broke off a curtain rail in the process... husband helped me carry her bed away from the window - she slept blissfully through it all!  Nearly 4am now... will try to catch some zzzzz but I foresee sleep-deprived-induced grumps for me later... must be strong + not give in to snacks!

Day 3 has been productive, despite the the lack of sleep!
- Apparently a couple of the locals felt the need to broadcast their extremely messy break-up for the whole county to hear in the middle of the night, followed by a storm outside, my cat having some kind of dance party downstairs and loose slates scraping along the roof. I allowed myself an extra hour in bed this morning to make up for that lot, and rescued the broken pieces of slate from the garden so I can use them for some kind of art project at a later date.
- Dedicated about an hour to playing the violin, learned a simple tune played with open strings and picked up some useful pointers on decent bowing technique. I actually feel excited to practice now instead of slightly intimidated!
- Switched my usual porridge at breakfast for a bowl of granola-ish cereal with nuts, it was nice but I was hungry again after a couple of hours, could probably have done with some fruit to make it a bit more substantial.
- My aims for the rest of today are to hang a picture I've been procrastinating on for reasons unknown, relax, read a bit and fingers crossed there won't be any riotous noises tonight!

I'm using DuoLingo as well :) It was the best free option I could find!

I also made a drawing today. I'm quite happy with it! It's SUPER rough as it's digital though, and I don't like digital so I don't really clean up my sketches, but hey, it's something! I changed my style yet again too.

Haven't felt inspired to draw or animate, so last night's efforts went nowhere. Being a little reasonable and letting myself stay warm in bed instead of cold at my laptop.
I've been keeping up with everything despite not having a wall calendar so far, haha. I've got a bit of journalling I do at the end of the night, hopefully I can keep it up for longer than two days.

I love the sketch.:)

I did not fall off the band wagon, it ran me over.

So husband made a soup, but it's super spicy. He said he toned it down....BIG NOPE. I could not eat it...i love spicy food. He does not like to listen so I kind of ate part of and dumped the rest.....wich made me feel hungry and snagged 3 cookies....sigh.

In positive, I have drank a lot of water, had an orange, and only one coffee. My fail takes over the positive, but I will be happy with positives I have gained so far.

Off to knit as my car gets a tune up. It's cold here too, hard to feel motivated.

Safflower, that's a great sketch!

Taproot - I usually have porridge too - I weigh out 40g then add a chopped banana + pour over freshly boiled water from the kettle; after 5/10 mins wait (enough time to do bathroom stuff) my brekky is ready (and lower calories than milk haha) I still take calcium + magnesium tablets (from Boots chemist) for bone strength, so I am not missing out on minerals. It's so important to think about your bones, ladies, for when you get older, make sure you "service" your body to help ward off brittle bone syndrome in later life!

Spoiler
Day 3 - I went swimming! After tears and tantrums, my girl finally cracked how to float on her back and front (using a noodle float)! This will help so much at her next lesson at swimming school, she was thrilled and smiled so much, but got tired. I now have the timetable for a decent public pool so will take her there when she needs tiring out, lol!  :devious:

Cafe lunch - we shared jam + butter on toast, but I logged the calories. No pudding again tonight!  but have had mango and tangerine as my healthier "sweet" option plus a calorie-counted chilli con carne supper from M&S + copious amounts of boiled veggies.

Tomorrow - kid off to school! Hubby at work! FREEDOM at last to do my own thing! Well, filling out solicitor forms [boring] but I need peace + quiet to get this done. If all my info is ready to hand and I complete it, I will drop it off direct to keep things done quickly.

I ate cereal for breakfast. I don’t really like cereal but I will eat it once in a while but I got an ice cream at lunch which probably cancelled out the good choice for breakfast.

I wanted to get a meal from a food vendor cause it's a craving and it was cheep. It was a salad too..not full healthy salad, but better than greasy fried food. Well, today I did so much, my head has *almost* stopped spinning.
Lots of ringing around people from the past, getting info here and there to help complete my house info forms.
Got a bit stressed over some of the missing info and expired safety certificates, but my solicitor put me at ease. She is so nice!

First day at school today so I was busy from drop-off to pick-up, then straight to town, child in tow, to hand in my paperwork and speak in-person. Child helped herself to the chocolates in the waiting room  :P but I was good

Lunch - only had time for a skyr protein yoghurt, tangerine and water. But I made up for it with a posh latte at a cafe later. Had a Weight Watchers meal + extra veg + fruit + a milky coffee this evening. Am just within my calorie budget - phew!

Tomorrow - a treat planned - meeting my crafting friend in the morning! I have a list of pretty paper punches and stamps that I want to buy   then back home + do some cleaning, I have neglected the house today and have let things slip...

Inalso cleaned off a corner of my desk. I’ve needed to do that for a while. Glitterball, congrats on resisting the chocolates and staying within your calorie budget. Kiwi, are you feeling better?

Thanks, Ponyfan!

Woo day 5 already! This week is going fast - depending on what chores get done, I might treat my kid to a surprise trip to the swimming pool after school tonight! This time I will bring our own floats

lovesbabysquirmy - Both the doll and the jacket are adorable! She looks super stylish! :)
glitterball - Thanks for the suggestion, I'll have to give that a go! I've fallen into the habit of making porridge the overnight oats way, but I've kind of overdone it that way and could really do to try something different.

As for day 4 and 5...
Yesterday was a bit of a slip-up, my anxiety issues cropped up again, probably as a result of finishing yet another temp job and the frustration that brings with it. :/ I tried doing things round the house and going for a walk to calm down, but it didn't really help much, so I'm staying home today but making sure that my time is used constructively. It's worked so far, I'm feeling a lot calmer than yesterday.
So far I've got a good hop on with cleaning the house, made some plans for tidying up the garden (as soon as we get some shears that actually have handles on them...) and set a goal for job applications, which I'm going to get onto this afternoon. For lunch I put together some mackerel and vegetables, which is one of my old favourites, but I gave that a bit of variety by adding some Jamaican-style rice on the side - definitely having that again, it was delish!
For a treat, I decorated my guitalele with some dolphins and palm trees as well. It's made a world of difference actually having markers on the fretboard!

Well, this is my first week since I started Monday.  I still have Saturday and Sunday starts the next week.  I did okay. I met a lot of my goals but one goal was a bust.

Spoiler
For my first week.
1. Made a template :iconclap:
2. Sewed a project a doll dress for my 50's doll in 1940's fabric :bigups:
3. Did my encouragement cards for the husband :inlove:
4. Read my chapter and memorized two verses :read:
5. No shopping :pizza:

Failures :shakefist:
1. I ate three boxes of dots this week.  I put sugar on my oatmeal  this was my weakness and I totally missed the mark.  So next week I am going to do so much better. :green:  Yea for me.  All in all I think it was a really good week.

Taproot I suffer from anxiety a lot and I totally get what that feels like.  It is a tough one to get through sometimes. Hang in there. :)  Oh how I love Dolphins.  That is just beautiful.

Tulagirl has the right idea! Here is to a New week. Did not keep myself on a good track, but I got some incentives. If I reach my 3 day walk goal this week I can wear one of my new work shirts. I got a replacement music book. I sold it before I lived on the boat and regretted it. Got it for Christmas, so hopefully I will play more....

Did anyone else see the 35th anniversary target ponies? I sold my 25th box ponies to make money for boat so I can get these...so if I have a good week, I can have a pony :cheer:

Researched the place I will be interviewing at.  Don't want to creep using Facebook or LinkedIn but at least I know something...

Working on the Deep Freezer Larder List and wondering if I should cook anything else.  I made 4 liters of soup this week, I have a thawed turkey, and I need to make more spaghetti sauce.  It is just so much easier when someone mentions what they want for dinner and then I can take out a baggie and defrost it LOL

Such a slow first week..once school starts up the real challenge begins.

Taproot, those are sweet decorations on your guitalele!  :)

Crowning_Glory13, my pal in the US is sending his wife + kids to hunt a couple of those new 35th anniversary ponies for me!

Spoiler
Less stressful day for me today - coffee + craft with my friend, then took my husband out for a Thai meal for lunch.
I was wondering how to do this as low-cal as poss, then thought, no, I'll relax. I had salt+pepper squid, a portion of rice + red chicken curry, enjoying it immensely! Plain water to drink.
I was still full in the evening so had just fruit and a cup of honey tea - my evening treat.
Had planned on swimming, but got a news alert saying there was gridlock traffic on the way to the pool, as there had been an accident and to avoid the area. Will go in the morning instead (plus the facilities will be fresh + clean, this public pool has a bit of a bad rep for getting grubby by the end of the day) but hey, best make the most of it.

Good luck for the weekend, folks!

It sounds like everyone is making good progress. Don’t give up if you didn’t reach a goal. I found healthy pony hard at first.  I think today has been a good day. I ate one boiled egg and one biscuit for breakfast. I didn’t add butter to the egg but did allow myself to have one spoonful of jelly with it. I walked around the mall at least twice and extra walking afterwards also. . Lunch was 1 1/2 homemade tamales with some chips and queso. I’m getting hungry all the time again. :(
 I love the 35th anniversary ponies. :)

Today and yesterday have been the same, just drawing and Gaelic. I cleaned my desk though, so I think I will be more motivated now that I don't have the excuse that my desk is too cluttered too draw :) And I researched Irish grammar so words make more sense now, and I'm less discouraged because I understand how the grammar works!

Alright so, I recovered from my illness, but apart from that, I don't feel like I'm making things happen so far. I'm studying, yeah but... these days have felt a bit blah. At least I'm managing my nails quite well? But I got an outburst a few days ago...

I've got someone buying a Lego set on Monday, which means one more out of the apartment.

It's been 2 steps forward, one step back on the eating. I keep bringing my own food to work, and then they buy us snacks for our team meeting (we're not sure if we were being rewarded for doing well in December or being placated because this week was awful. Either way, snacks).

I have yet to work out this week, mostly because I've just been so darn exhausted when I get home, so I'm going to adjust the sleep schedule and try to get a first-thing-in-the-morning workout habit started.

Same issue with the meditation. I get home, I zone out, I go to bed.

The lack of progress, even in just the first week, has been a little discouraging. But I will persevere! I've told myself I can have one of the new HQG1C Valentine ponies if I ace the next two weeks.

Shatyr, things are tough in January, take it slowly to let your body get some rest when you come home, things will get better and you will soon fall into a routine again

Dreamer, study is good!

Safflower - grammar is a nightmare, well done for working it all out!

Ponyfan - at least you are moving - small steps - have a glass of still water as maybe the salt in those chips are tricking your body into thinking you are hungry when in fact a glass of water should help! I get that with Chinese food - I eat lots then am starving 30 mins later

Spoiler
Went swimming with my kid for 90 minutes today, then I just *had* to leave as things were getting too much for her, she was doing a lot of crying due to frustration so I thought I had better wrap things before she started to resent swimming. Can't really calculate my calories burned as it was stop-start-stop-start.

Porridge, fruit, bacon, eggs, toast so far today. Have a few calories left so may have something light later on this evening. Ran out of yoghurt, otherwise I would have eaten that for the extra protein. Hmm may pop to the shop later to grab some...

Tomorrow - Sunday - is my "relax" day where I still log my calories but I allow myself to indulge. Planned meal is gammon steak, egg, pineapple and baked fries. Oh, plus something sweet for later. I'm cooking, haha

Got a confirmation of received paperwork letter today from my house solicitors this morning, telling me that my detailed property info has now been sent off to the buyer's solicitor. Cool, just waiting what comments they have before things progress further. Adulting stuff leaves me a bit uncomfy as there is so much at stake.

Monday - Friday: off to the old house to finish off emptying the junk in the garage, was too ill with chest infection Nov/Dec (plus weather way too cold) so now we have the chance to finish stuff off. Dad joining me. Hopefully we will have all of it done by the end of the week, although I find Dad slows me down!  Afterwards, once we get confirmation of exchange of contracts etc, I will call the local charity to take away the decent furniture remaining in the house, it is of no use to me.

So looking forward to re-joining my old gym in Feb - I know I burn AT LEAST 500 calories in my "shred" HIIT session, (maybe 700 cals depending on what workouts they have planned) so it means I can do a session on Sunday morning to help off-set the rich food I will eat later that day!

Keep it up everyone! Any steps in the right direction are good.

I'm still going slow, still sick. :( Hate this bug, just hangs on.

But in happy news, my custom order has come through so I've started working on that. Still so excited, and really honoured. It's shocked me that someone found my shop, and liked my work enough to make a custom request, and a really special one.

I will, instead, figure out my workout schedule for next week and drink 8 oz of water.

I love shoveling snow. I agree it us so a work out:D it hasn't snow much here so no shovel work out for me. Feeling a bit down, but I think Sunday will be my regroup day and start making things happen for myself.

Scarf is still not done:( hope to finish on Monday.

On a great note a pony person posted a pair of my wings on her custom on a facebook page. It was nice to see all the kind d words.

Wish I had more flimsy wing contestants.

I wasn't a good healthy pony today. I ate a lot of not healthy food a while ago and had huge portions.  Thanks glitterball for the water suggestion. I keep telling myself that I can't possibly still be hungry right after eating so much.

I did chose water instead of Coke last night and noticed I didn't have as much trouble sleeping.

Shatyr, don't give up. It's hard to get started on healthy habits. I feel like foood is my biggest issue because it's so much easier to grab something that heats up in the microwave instead of helathy food.

Dreamer, I felt like I started out slow when I started doing healthy pony also but with some encouragement from others here I kept trying and I now have a few successes. Don't give up.

Congrats Kiwi on getting a custom order request.

Pokeyonekenobie,  I think shoveling snow counts as a workout too.

Glitterball, I hope you're able to get everything done that you want at the house this week. Getting a house ready to sell/getting rid of stuff is always a big job.

I had water instead of pizza and finished setting up my workout log!

Even with the unhealthy choices and lack of exercise, I've apparently done well enough with food to be down 2 lbs.

I went grocery shopping and picked up enough frozen veggies (on sale) to last through the month. I've also got enough bacon (also on sale) for morning primal muffins (bacon, egg, cheese) for the rest of the month and probably a little bit into February. I did buy a donut for breakfast while grocery shopping, but that's my Sunday indulgence.

Chores are nearly complete and I have all my alarms set for 4:30 tomorrow. I have 4 alarms. I promise, it only seems excessive. Once it becomes habit to get up and workout, I probably won't even need the alarms (I will still use them).

Next up, finish getting ready for the week and have a nice (healthy) dinner.

Shatyr - that's a super result!!!

Ponyfan - glad you found the sleep easier after drinking water - I think Coke has caffeine in it.

Crowning_Glory13 - aww so nice when you see positive posts about your own creations!

Pokeyonekenobie - having done same a few weeks ago, I would deffo call that a workout!

Kiwi - how exciting to be commissioned!

Spoiler
Randomly up at 4am today (hence posting here!!) listening to the birdies wake up and sing outside.
School run then the 30-min drive to the old house, to clear the junk in the garage.

Today - remove old, musty clothes from the large wardrobe + blanket box; take to the rag recycling part of the recycling centre.
drive back. it is about 11 minutes each-way to the dump.
break-up the wooden wardrobe (rotten wood, cannot save it) + drive up to the centre again in my car.
drive back, have a light lunch (yoghurt, fruit, water).

If Dad turns up, he will be busy loading pre-packed cardboard boxes of stuff to take back to his - to sort through at his own leisure.
Furniture - Dad has a couple of antique display cabinets that he wants to rescue, we will see whose car they will fit in and drive them back to his.

Head back for the 3pm School run, home, shower, laundry, feed kid, prep evening dinner. My kid has said that she no longer wants to do after-school-club (would have been there until 6pm) but it makes no difference to me really as at this time of year it gets too dark by 4pm to do anything useful (no lighting in the garage, house was newly re-wired but garage was not).

Repeat all week - bar Thursday - Dad has to take Mum to hospital for some tests.

Friday - I *think* my husband is working from home - he might take the day off to help me or stay home + do the 3pm school run so that I get an extra couple of hours to clear things. He worries that I will tire myself out - but I need to get on with this work as all our solicitor paperwork has been done and things are moving fast.

A tiny bit stressed that Thurs or Fri there will be a buyer-surveyor visiting the house, (the cynic in me thinks that they will be trying to find negative stuff to give the buyer ammo to negotiate a lower price!!) but hey, these things must be done...

A big *if* - all things run smoothly, we could potentially get things wrapped in 4-6 weeks, however, I am bracing myself for some mischief, some fly in the ointment... anyway, what ever the case, clearing the house is my priority and if the sale should fall through, at least I have a fully empty house ready to rock-n-roll with should I need to put is up for sale again...

I should achieve a lot this week, if I need to do more next week we should have plenty of time to get things done - psychologically it will be a weight off my shoulders too, seeing the space getting clearer each day. Today will be a bit of a nightmare though as I need to make a mess first!

Thanks tulagirl and glitterball!
And congratulations on the commission, Kiwi! :)

The weekend was pretty relaxed, I had a look over my diary to work out what needs brushing up on this week; journalling has proven incredibly helpful for staying on task so far!
The weather is still too harsh to go out in the hillside but I made up for that by staying active in other ways and the gales at night has been been keeping me awake a bit, which is annoying but there's not much that can be done about it, other than burrowing deeper into my nest of blankets.
To help with relaxing and winding down before bed, I nipped to the library and got some books out, a couple of comedies and a Carlos Ruiz Zafon book that somehow slipped my radar (his writing style is so vibrant, it's very refreshing!)
For the guitar this week, I've set myself the task of learning a couple new fingerpicking patterns (technically not much of a challenge, but still useful to know) and working on my left-hand dexterity, which is probably my biggest weakness at the moment. Where the violin is concerned, I've found some exercises that help with reading music, so I'm going to focus on those and make a start on playing scales as well.
And as for varying my diet this week, I've made a start by picking up a tin of chickpeas and there's some rice with pumpkin seeds that ought to go very nicely with my stash of things in the freezer. I'm thinking of picking up some different fruit to mix in with my usual cranberries as well (although the cranberries will forever be my favourite!)

I can't find them anywhere and I am so bummed about it.  All the stores that say they have them, well, we went and they were no where.  I really like Snuzzle, Blossom, Bluebelle and Minty.  We have had no luck finding them.  So, I decided to stop looking for now.

I am kind of sick this week, actually it is pretty bad and, I can't seem to get my stuff done right.  So, my plan is to do what I can.

I got up and worked out this morning! Granted, it was a really, really short workout, but it's the first stepping stone towards my body adjusting to a new normal.

Tulagirl, I have an extra Snuzzle no one's asked me for yet. I also think there's a local Target I haven't yet plundered for ponies, so I could run by on Thursday to check on those other ones for you.

Not sure how much of a healthy pony day it's going to be for me as I don't feel well and I'm craving junk.

Shatyr, that's wonderful that you've lost 2lbs already.  :) and congrats on working out, Small steps really add up more than you might think they do.

Tulagirl. I'm sorry you're not feeling well either. I think the anniversary ponies are kind of hard to find right now. The first Target I checked didn't have any and the 2nd had one set stuck on an endcap at the back of the toy dept.  I could only afford to get one so I had to leave the others behind. I'm really hoping that the next pony I want, Butterscotch will be there when I'm able to get another pony.  I hope you're able to get your 35th anniversary Snuzzle, Minty and Bluebelle.

Keep up the good work Safflower on your drawing and Irish lessons. I was inspired to go back to Duolingo and try to learn more French.

It's a new week for me. I was really crashing and being emotionally silly these past few days...so lost any progress.

So here is to a New week. I am writing my goals for the day and the week down, so hope I can get myself on track.

No 35th ponies for my area, but I can collect points so when I do see them I can get more than one:)

Well done on completing your scarf,  Crowning_Glory13, your points are adding up fast!  ;)

Get well soon, Ponyfan, drink something healthy each time a junk craving creeps up on you. Salty junk especially makes me feel hungrier and hungrier, gotta stem that salt!!

Shatyr, well done on your workout! And so sweet of you to offer to help Tulagirl, this is what I love about this sit, friendly folks who want to help others out   Tulagirl, hope you feel better soon

Safflower, there's nothing quite like drawing and the sense of achievement when you have completed a piece  :)

lovesbabysquirmy - did the turkey meal turn out well?  ;)

Taproot, I crush/blend my (tinned) chickpeas + add fresh garlic, fresh ginger and some coriander leaves to make a kind of mush - goes well with salad leaves (I go for the mixed bags that are described as "Italian" style) - very fragrant, though!

Spoiler
Boy oh boy, I worked hard today!
School run, then to parents, briefly, as it was en-route.
Straight to the old house. Cleared out all old clothes. DEMOLISHED the huge wardrobe plus the chest of drawers, cabinet, other wooden shelving. Two car trips to the dump - the textiles bin was open and I could actually walk into it and deposit the clothes! Plenty of wooden stuff removed too. Space is looking clearer and my head feels less stressed, too!
It was almost 2pm and I had made a start on the next lot of trash to dump (for tomorrow). Dad had sorted through a lot of paperwork, too, and binned about 95% of it  :P This is what takes time - my Granny had a habit of putting photos and letters (and money!) inside book pages, so everything needs to be checked before blindly throwing away.
Temperature was hovering between 3 to 4 degrees C, my hands, although gloved, were really chilly. So pleased to get back in the car to return home - heated seats aaahhhhhh!
Hot shower that turned into a bath (water so cosy) + washed my hair - feeling satisfied and nice n clean.
More tomorrow!  :yikes:
Hmm challenge will be:
to somehow get rid of lots of crates of household cleaning products that had accumulated over the years; need to see where I can deposit them as the dump has designated areas for certain items.
Clearing out a bunch of old + broken gardening machinery + ancient vacuum cleaners (she kept all her broken ones??!!).
dumping old pots + pans - no use to me or my folks so they must go, no time or patience to gumtree/freecycle them, just want it all cleared asap.
^ all this should clear 2/3 of the garage space. Beyond that is boxes of stuff, other stacked furniture, 2 empty freezers and then the mysterious mound of I-don't-know-what-is-hidden-underneath some sheets against the wall. Oh fun (!)

Foodwise - been very good (too busy to crave junk) and had enough calories spare to FINALLY have some Angel Delight tonight haha!

Well, things have been shaping up lately. My nails are regrowing (slowly but steady), I figured out a plan to work on my creative projects after my exams are done, and I think I studied enough.

All this talk about healthy food choices makes me want to reconsider mine, but that will be after studies - I don't need to worry about more things right now! Could anybody recommend me some starting tips, please?

Have to go appeal my employment insurance as now they don't want to pay me, despite having been told by them that they wanted me to report no earlier than January!  What!?

The house smells of sage and rosemary and bacon grease and turkeyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy...  very nice when we have to bundle up and face -20C in the wind!

Dreamer:  Can you go to the library and look at cookbooks for ideas of healthy food you would eat?  really just understanding what to do with the very basic ingredients is helpful.  Depends on your diet though.

Crowning_Glory13: Try to think about the reality that if you are doing new, extra, other activities, then your body is using more calories anyway.  It's exercise in a different fashion!

Ponyfan:  Veggies are delicious as long as you have variety of flavors.  Are you trying to just eat more raw or trying to sneak kale into your mac and cheese ;)?

tulagirl: I hope you are feeling better soon! I know how taxing that can be on the mind.

Shatyr: Good for you!  Keep it up!

glitterball: your cleaning sounds exciting!  the weather here is absolutely NOT the kind of weather one wants to open an overflowing shed in.  I feel you, though, my DH hoards kitchen things and gardening pots and I'm left speechless by how many can get squirreled away in a cupboard if no one is watching....  XD

My tip for starting to eat healthy:  Switch to water.  Even if you just start with substituting one soda or other drink a day, it gets you started.  I think I'm down to an average of one soda every other week with an average of one non-carbonated drink a week, usually that's a glass of juice or milk, though occasionally it's horchata when we eat out at a Mexican restaurant.  It's a little thing but I think it helps get you in the right mindset and you can even do it while you're juggling exams with little to no effort.  Also, I think that switching to water has helped my health in multiple ways.  I sleep better at night and if I'm hydrated then I don't feel hungry.  Many times you're hungry it's because you're dehydrated and your body is trying to compensate in any way it can.  I don't get headaches as often anymore.

Well done everyone for plodding on! Battles are lost and won, keep trying!

Healthy eating tips:
Pokeyonekenobie - upping the water intake is always a great tip!
steam or boil (fresh or frozen) veggies in the microwave; portion your regular meals so that at least a third of the plate consists of fresh veggies (do not include potatoes or beans in this third as they are very starchy!)
Cut down on bread - don't stop eating it, just ration yourself the odd slices during the week.
Don't deprive yourself of a chocolate treat or slice of pizza, just have a small portion and fill up on veggies for the rest of your meal, drinking water while you eat (to fill your tummy further).
Beware of sugar-coated cereals - lots of hidden calories tricking you into thinking you are eating healthily! Special-K is naughty like that. Plain porridge or Shredded Wheat (UK) or Weetabix (UK) are the "purest" low sugar/low fat cereals that I am aware of.
Beware of dried fruits - super snacks if portions are kept small, otherwise packed with sugar - check the weight + calories of your bag of fruit to see what I mean!

Calories - (facts according to My Fitness Pal)  ladies need approx 1,800 calories daily, to sustain themselves (neither lose nor gain weight). Approx 3,500 calories need to be burned to lose 1 pound of weight. Having a daily calorie allowance of between 1,200 and under 1,800 will help you lose weight slowly and steadily.

My day:
Spoiler
Cleared lots again today, 2 more trips to the dump - plenty of metal recycled.
Tomorrow - carry on! Move furniture to cleared part of room and tackle the hidden horrors around the edge, hidden under sheets; made a good start on one side today already.
Food: being so busy stopped me feeling hungry but by school-run time I craved something warm so had a skinny decaf latte.
WW meal + veggies for dinner + some mango + grapes later.
Swimming lesson with kid this evening (but I watch from the benches as the teachers do their thing in the pool!

Hi everyone.  I can see everyone is working hard.  Yesterday my neck cricked up and I can't move it.  Then Yuki got sick.  Boy aren't we a sight.  So, I can work on my reading and my memorizing and my stuff for R2, but that is all.  Oh and I can work on not eating candy and sugar and not shopping.  I can't really sew or go through boxes though because of my movement being restricted.  So, I sat down and watched Totoro yesterday which really just makes me smile.

Hey lovesbabysquirmy is it unemployment insurance you are talking about?  My R2 went through all that a few years ago. I have never known so much stress as dealing with the loss of a job and then trying to get the insurance payments.

Glitterball those are wonderful ideas. I do not eat any grains except for oats.  So, I have been without bread for a while and it makes a huge difference.

Poeky you are so right about water. I love water. I drink a lot of it all day long and it is the only thing I drink.  Being well hydrated helps your body so much.

Congrats Dreamer on your nails. I need to work on that one too, but I don't think I would be good at it with my situation lol.

Crowning Glory, knitting for the stage - don't worry. You should see all the things that go on with props and costuming up close.  Sometimes they use duct tape, but from the audience you can't see it.   Well what I mean is if you are in a hurry it won't show. You make lovely things.  I love my pillow.  squeeee  Usually when we have more time our stuff turns out different.  If we have to rush through it we worry about the project in general.  I think you will be aokay on that one!! ;)

Thanks for the cheering us on Ponyfan.

I will come back in a week or so and hopefully my neck will be moving again by then.  Hugs to everyone.

Well, the past couple of days have been a bit odd. I kept up with my goals despite being in an incredibly duff mood and there was immense temptation to just have a couple of lazy days. Actually making myself get things done produced results anyway, I have an interview lined up for a job I applied for just yesterday! It's only a 20-minute walk away from my house as well, so there's none of the stress with catching trains this time! :whew:
My sleeping patterns are still a bit erratic but it's taking less time to get back to sleep when I wake up in the night at least. Taking a few minutes to relax a couple of other times in the day would be a step in the right direction, it'd probably work a bit better than literally just going "Alright, I'm going to chill out now" a couple of hours before bed. The light from my mp3 player is probably a problem as well (it's ridiculously bright and there's no way to adjust it), so I took an old one with a busted backlight and put all my relaxing music on that, so I can leave it on shuffle and switch it off before bed without catching any blue light from it, just in case. Very much hoping that this interview tomorrow doesn't end up keeping me awake tonight!

Job interview today!  wish me luck! though it will be over before most of you read this, LOL :)

yes tulagirl, I am talking employment insurance which is different in Canada from the USA version.  Plenty of bureaucracy though!  Eventually yesterday I collapsed in the Service Canada office and basically sobbed my humiliated self through my papers, and they told me, "Yep.  This is exactly what is supposed to happen.  They locked your account manually. So try to log in no earlier than Friday.  You can not do anything until you get the paperwork in the mail anyway.  And yes we will get around to paying you what you are entitled to, but it may take 3 weeks. Or more, we cannot say."  AUUUUUUGH what the crazypants!!! We have bills to pay!!!  DH doesn't see why I am stressing.

the roads are newly snowed and iced and many of my citypeople have NOT purchased winter tires... and I have to drive my LEAST favorite road in this -33C weather .  Wow universe you really like pushing my buttons don't you?!  Seeing how many obstacles it can throw at me?  *sigh*  No more coffee!  last thing I need during this crisis is to need to go to the washroom XD

My advice for making healthier choices is to start small/change on thing at a time. Maybe switch a Coke for water or healthier drink once a day. When I started working out consistently  I could barely go once around the mall without getting completely worn out. Now I can do 3 rounds without too much trouble.

Something else that helps me is a motivation/reward jar. I get marbles for working out and watching the jar get full makes it easier to see my progress. :)

Lovesbabysquirmy, good luck on the interview. I am trying to make healther food choices but don't always succeed as it's really easy for me to grab something microwaveable instead of something healthy.

Glitterball you're making great progress  on the house.  :cheer: :cheer:

Taproot, good luck on your interview and I think using the mp3 without a backlight is a good idea. I have an alarm clock that has blue light too. I usually sleep facing away from the clock but if I can't get comfortable and turn towards the clock  I'll pull the covers up higher so I'm not bothered by the light.

Tulagirl I'm sorry that you are in pain. I hope you feel better soon.

I am still not feeling well.

I touched a piano yesterday. Getting that book is helping. I am relearning songs, so I feel alot better about my ability.

I have my family visiting this weekend, so I will be bad....not much choice:)

I take points for what I do in a day. I average about 3 points. I hope next week I can push that.

I too am having trouble with sleeping!  either it's too cold or too hot...  I woke up at least five times last night trying to figure out what would make me comfy enough to fall back asleep.

I think the interview went okay but I will just try not to think much about it!

Oh no, Crowning_Glory13! New jobs do take a lot of getting used to  suddenly all the things that were meh in the old job feel all nice and cosy, eh?

lovesbabysquirmy - fingers crossed for your interview results!  :beerchug:

Ponyfan - hope you feel better soon!

Taproot - a job - so local to you! Very convenient - crossing fingers for a good interview!  :beerchug:

tulagirl - eek a bad neck is no fun  I hope that by next week it will get better  :)

Today:
Spoiler
Drove up to the house, filled 5 bags of general trash + 2 bags of metal-recycling, 4 boxes of glass recycling, 1 box cardborad.
Cleared out the freezer - of shoes(!) cardboard (!) dozens of old glass coffee jars and dog grooming kit (my gram hoarded broken stuff and used the old freezer as storage for her hoarded empty jars

Dad eventually turned up, so I left him to look after the garage + sort through old paperwork while I piled all the junk into the car + did a single trip to the dump. SUCH a good feeling clearing that stuff out!

My car is now filthy; much mud on the Oxfordshire country roads, it is an agricultural area so the tractors have helped to spread lots of mud! Bodywork is covered in a thin film of spray.  The car had a valet only 2 weeks ago, it now looks awful! Once I have completed this week I may get another posh valet done (wash/vacuum/wash upholstery) or just visit a petrol station + simply jet-wash the mud off. If I have yet more stuff left to clear, I may just hold-off the valet for now...

tomorrow - back again, but this time, as I have more space, I will concentrate on sorting the hidden stuff and putting it into sorted piles/bags ready to take to the dump on Friday. Dad won't be there tomorrow and it is too much hassle having to lock everything before going to the dump + then re-opening stuff again. If the opportunity arises I may do a single trip to the dump after shutting everything then head straight home.

I spied 2 more rusty birdcages, old shopping trolley-bag on wheels and 2 broken lawnmowers that need shifting.
The 2 freezers will either be driven to the dump via my dad's trailer or I can pay £35 to the council for them to pick 'em up, but I am in no great rush, just yet.

The buyer's surveyor is due a visit either tomorrow or Friday, too, not that I need to be there as he will have the keys via the estate agent.

I fear I shall be stressed out until about noon tomorrow as we are having evaluations at work.  This is the first time at this job that we've done them (I've worked here for about 5 years) but they were the absolute worst part of my last job so I am dealing with some PTSD stuff.  I keep trying to tell myself that it will be fine but considering that at my last job they told me during every evaluation that I was so terrible that nobody else would ever hire me and that I should be grateful to even have a job (and that was one of the nicer things they said to me), it's hard to keep positive.  I wish it was over with and I just want to curl up in the corner and cry.

I have been so busy! I have been doing school and homework straight since Sunday. I haven't been doing my Irish lessons or drawing though :( I did half on Monday, nothing on Tuesday. Hopefully I can squeeze some in tonight, but maybe not, as I have to get my allergy shots which make me super tired! Gah, so busy!

You know, even though you can't do what you want this week, does not mean you have not acheived/build to your goal. Just jotting down what you didn't get done, kept the task in mind. You are still thinking about and working on the task. That is an accomplishment in its self. Embrace to tiny steps to the big ladder to the goal:)

I fear I shall be stressed out until about noon tomorrow as we are having evaluations at work.

That was mean of them to treat you so badly in your last job  >_< no wonder you are worried now. If it really was that bad, your supervisor/boss should have picked up on it earlier and encouraged improvement at the time rather than leave it until the eval to throw the book at you! The sign of a good manager is one how actually *manages* staff - i.e. notices niggles straight away and works together with you to get things on track - it may be something tiny and tedious, but in the long run it should help everyone know what they are doing.

Today
Spoiler
Wow, lots done again today, I can see sunlight through the back window now
Sorted lots of piles of junk into their "type" i.e. wood / metal / small appliances / general trash etc. as these need to be disposed of in their dedicated bays at the dump.
The Buyer's surveyor turned up to survey the house - should have taken 1.5 hours but he was so interested in it that he spent 3 hours looking at all the quirks, it seemed to fascinate him. Friendly chap too, who assured me that should the sale fall through (unlikely) he would love me to contact him as he knows a few guys who would love to develop such a site. Ah, good to know!

My Mum's in hospital today, so Dad was with her for that, but I reckon I managed to do more today than when he was with me  but it is nice to have him there as it can get lonely there amongst the cobwebs and cardboard boxes  :(

Tomorrow: about 10 bags have been filled with general trash - I shall load up my car first-thing and dump that. Thereafter, load up the car with the various types of junk and dump them in turn while Dad either helps with his car or stays back + sorts through more old papaerwork/letters.

Thanks for everybody who gave me suggestions! Things are starting to shape up: I got hold of a food and exercise diary, because I think keeping track of these things will help me. But I'm not going to start making significant changes to my diet until I finish my exams (tomorrow!) I think I'll better set these as changes I plan to accomplish throughout the year  ;)

- Definitely more veggies, I have time periods in which I manage to eat them almost every day, but nowadays it is not as much
- Only one portion of bread/pasta/rice per day (although I love them too much  :P )
- I already drink enough water, I think, but I would like to keep track of that too
- One of my last year achievments was exercising more often. I sometimes stop when life's busy but I think that overall I kept good track. I tend to use my static bike while watching TV programs or shows. Perhaps I should increase the intensity or find more ways to exercise.
- I would also like to compile a personal recipe book, with recipes given by family or friends, as well as yummy healthy things I can cook in a pinch

On the other side of things, I've been struggling trying to re-design a character, but now I think I'm close to the final version.

Is anyone planning any special kind of reward if they manage to accomplish their goals?

The management at that job was terrible.  They not only made up lies about what I did or didn't do, they told me that I needed to seek medication for my "anger management" issues after I told them I was frustrated with the way I was being treated.  They made the paperwork look legitimate when they wrote me up (insubordination was their favorite word) but what they told me was that I was being written up for things like "yelling" at everyone (not sure how I had any voice left with how much yelling I was accused of doing), refusing to schedule community service workers (there was only supposed to be one person per shift and I was scheduling 4 per shift at the time but somehow still refusing to schedule anyone--you figure it out, I still can't), and refusing to "just give the community service workers their hours" (which is falsifying court documents, which is a federal offense.  Sorry, not having that on my record--I might need to gain high level security clearance someday--you never know) amongst other ridiculous claims.  My manager was convinced that I was after her job (not true-I don't want to be in charge of anything ever again thank you) so I was the scapegoat for 5 years and after I quit (without notice, I might add) four other women that I worked with did the same (at least 2 with no notice).  They didn't want to be next.

I was able to tell my current director and manager (who were doing our 1/2 year evals) a little about what I went through and why I hated evaluations.  They were sympathetic (I admit that I cried a little from the stress of it) and the experience was pleasant.  Hopefully in the future I won't have any more panic attacks over it.

Anyway, now that I'm not stressed anymore I hope to spend the weekend painting and getting some commissioned piggy banks done. :)

This made me feel do much better! More things have stacked up that are not in my favor (more homework, a HUGE project in history, a party to plan, and some stuff at home like my grandparents near death and my mom flying to Missouri to go help them, and my mom has been flying in and out for the past couple of months). I'm half way between falling asleep and crying. I think this post will get me through the day. Was NOT expecting these things to happen. :freak:

Thanks everyone for the well wishes! I'm not 100% sure how the interview went as it was more of a chat, and I never really know what's expected of me there. Still, there are plenty of other irons in the fire if it doesn't work out.

As for my other tasks, I did learn a scale on the violin, albeit slow and clunky at the moment; it's the same problem as with changing chords on the guitar, I just need to get my left hand used to making the necessary movements.
My sleeping patterns have improved a bit as well, the trick with the old mp3 player seems to be working and reading before bed has probably helped, although I've already gotten through three of the books I got out of the library. Might've gotten a bit too engrossed in a couple of them.
Still didn't manage to get out into the hillside; would've done that yesterday but the interview was more important and there was really thick fog anyway. It would've been pretty foolish to be charging around steep slopes when it's impossible to see your own hand in front of your face!

Wishing everyone all the best for the weekend!

Dreamer - diaries are great for inspiring organisation  :)

Pokeyonekenobie - good to hear current management are listening to you! Enjoy your crafting time!

Safflower - woah hope your grandparents are ok? Don't be scared of the big history project - set aside a wall (or whiteboard or pinboard), lots of post-it notes + get busy with writing little soundbites / paragraph prompts to "sketch out" how your project will shape up. Breaking it down into these little blocks will make it easier when it comes to writing stuff up, plus it reminds you to include certain bits that you may otherwise forget!

Taproot - getting good vibes from the interview chat!

Ponyfan + Tulagirl - get well soon and don't feel sad!

I have all of this goal stuff in my Giant Household Excel Sheet of crazy.  Seriously I am trying to track expenses, food, shopping lists, to-do chores, pricing out home reno projects LOL  so it sort of functions like a journal?  I highly encourage documentation of some kind!!!

Keep up the positive thinking everyone!  Even if it is just visualizing the life you want when you have no power to do anything about it - the dreaming is also good for you!

I have also been in such a MEHHHHH state of mind lately which has not made my poor DH happy.  Usually I putter through my to-do list and keep ahead but it has been so hard lately.  I sit down and lose myself in reading a book or researching recipes...

January-11-18: Need to clean the kitchen. DD's playgroup. More job searching.
January-12-18: Reported to EI.  Made turkey stock.  Cleaned kitchen.
January-13-18: DD's bday party.  Expect nothing to get done except making a bigger mess :) Oh I cleaned the bathroom!
Today: hopefully more job applications! also have to get the house set to rights again post-party.  This mind fog, it MUST lift soon!!!

I am so sorry for your loss Safflower :( send prayers and hugs your way.

I did not do to bad this weekend. Had large meals, but only one large meal and some snacks. Not the healthiest snacks and meal, but better than it could be. I will officially start knitting a special pillow on Monday:) I did a big yarn organize on Thursday, so I feel I can start moving forward.

I got an amazing idea. It was inspired by Tulagirl. She posted this idea for a theme in my photo contest. A picture of healthy pony:D make a scene with a pony doing, reaching, or accomplishing your goals:) I could take a picture if my pony knitting, or working out. I could put her.on a scale and post my weight. Maybe you made an awesome healthy meal or snack, post a pony next to it and you have your photo. Post them here for fun:)

Post by  March 15 and we will vote for the best photo:) best photo gets a gift from me:) any one else want to send a prize can:)

---

I took a kind-of break from my goals this weekend seeing as it was my birthday, but still kept up journalling and laying out plans for next week. My main goal is focussing really hard on eating healthy because I've had a little bit of acid reflux happening over the weekend. It isn't normally a problem; having an indoor picnic-style lunch on Saturday was definitely the cause (still a nice treat, despite the repercussions), I'm not used to eating much rich food anymore.
The other important task is to be more aware of what's going on; this past week has been rife with autopilot moments and even though it's not a particularly serious problem at the minute, I don't want to spend too long zoning out when that time could be better spent on constructive things.

Good luck for this coming week, everyone!

Only made 7 points last week. My hope is to double that this week.

I went to bed early, yet I feel so tired. Sigh. It is snowing here and I love snow, it has taken out my lessons as the roads are not fun to drive in. Sigh. I hate making up lessons:P

Had the day off so I got up, walked on the treadmill, did my laundry and then attempted to organize my room so that I can actually feel okay with just sitting down and painting.  I decided to pull out all the "art projects" that I don't plan to keep and then I made sure everything that I am planning to keep has a place to go once I finish it.  Everything else is taking up residence in the guest room until I can finish it.  I figure since everyone already came for the holidays I've got a bit of time before I really need to clear it out and it's easier to see what I have left when it's spread out in the other room. I'm going to try not to buy anything else to paint until everything I already have is done.  I still need to go through some papers and decide what I want to keep for my scrapbook and what I need to chuck, but that can wait for another day.  I feel like I'm behind this year because usually I spend New Year's Eve and Day cleaning/organizing and shredding old papers so I can start fresh for the year but my sister's family was here so I just didn't have the time to do it.

I have to put the sealer on a custom piggy bank for my friend's nephew and then get started on one for her other nephew.  I also have to finish up two boxes for my SiLs b-day presents.  They shouldn't take too much more work to be done.

Today was pretty good :) I just free handed water color pony heads in a rainbow of colors which took my mind off of things and was both relaxing and fun. I think tomorrow I will really start to be harder on myself about Gaelic, as I have been super bad this week.

Well I stayed in today because there was no urgent need to go out and the weather is cold and rotten to an extent that not even I can withstand; still kept to the rule of staying constructive, though:
- Attempted to practice the violin for a bit but the bridge was being a pain and I just wasn't in the mood to be messing about with it. Played the guitar for a bit instead and then had a short meditation session to brush off the aggro with the violin (tomorrow is another day, Pogle and I can agree with each other then) ;)
- Had a couple of jobhunting sessions, only managed to find two jobs so far but I'm going to have another look later, just in case something else has come up. Ideally, I'd like to stick to my target of at least 3 jobs a day, but sometimes there's just a load of nothing out there. :/
- For lunch, I gave mushroom and kale risotto soup a go, which is kind of cheating a bit because I can always go for mushroom soup, but that's usually just the plain old-fashioned variety. It was a nice, albeit minor, change!
- Actually put pen to paper and drew something!
- Rearranged the furniture in my room; it's been updated in dribs and drabs over the past few years and the place just felt kind of ramshackle. There are still a couple of things that need doing but overall, it's a much more practical layout.

The most important thing that needs doing is getting that horrible, claggy paint off of that chest of drawers. It's been doing my head in for the past 3 years but I've been putting it off for just as long.

And the doodle of Parsley that happened as a little reward for sorting the room out.

I don't know how to score points, not really even thinking about that one. I am off of sugar, still reading, a little behind on my husband's notes but he has been home due to this ice storm.  The only thing I am not able to do due to my back is clean out boxes, sew and draw.  So far so good this week.

Great job Tulagirl:)

I do my own point system if I accomplish something, or reach a goal, I give myself a point. If I get so many points I can reward myself. I do take points away for my bad, like a punishment. Keeps me honest when I write my points down.

Yea I had a really hard time the first couple of weeks of this and admitted to that for sure.  I will have to think about creating a point system for myself, I am just not sure how I would do it.  I am not meeting all my goals as I had planned, but the ones I am missing are not really because I don't want too, my back is seriously messed up.  Every time I move it feels like I am tearing the muscle and then I can't seem to move the limb closely located to that muscle for a while.  My photoshoot in the snow caused me all sorts of odd nerve pains in my back arms and legs.  I have got to get myself to the neurologist soon.  I finally got my sugar problem under control.  So, I am not eating it anymore finally.  It is like I had to have several failures before I could get myself motivated enough to just avoid the sugar.  Today I wanted to eat some Ice Cream and I remembered not to and was so pleased I was able to just walk away from that temptation.  I did discover something about myself and was wondering if anyone else was like this.  I think I use sugar to make myself feel better when my pain levels are high or I am really bored because, I can't physically do much.  So, I would eat candy to feel like I was having fun.  Does anyone else do that?

I totally use sugar as a pick me up and when I get board.

I write down all the things I want to do in a day. I give myself a point for the thing I complete. It can be as simple as changing the litter box, or complicated like tracking my calories. If I do it I get a point. If I don't do it that is ok, just no points. Now if I pig out on 5 candy bars, or buy a bunch of toys or extra good, I write down what I did and how many points I loose.

Since this is written down, I kind of have to reflect. Maybe someone invited me to a lunch and I went overboard. Well maybe 5 points lost. verses me sneaking off and having a happy meal. I might take 20 points off.

I do also point awards. If I do multiple days in a row piano I might give my self 10 extra points.

This is how I keep fooling myself with rewards:)

Whuff, it's been a while.

Safflower, I am so sorry for your loss.

I'm doing a 2 steps forward, 1 step sideways sort of dance. I do really well with eating, but lousy with exercise. Then I'll do lousy with eating, but I'll find myself deep cleaning the kitchen or something. I'll have a great workout, then sabotage my sleep schedule so thoroughly that I sleep in until 9 the next day (disclaimer: I get up at 4:30 regularly due to living 25 miles from work and having the opening shift).

Still, I'm down another 1.5 lbs and I feel like my pants are fitting better? I alternate between 2 and 3 notches on the belt, so I feel like there's progress... just not a lot of regularity.

Still, I'm determined to keep going!

No Gaelic or art today as when I got home from school (around 4:00 pm) I then viewed the Arena a bit. I expected to have an hour of homework, but nope, I had three. What joy it is to do homework until 7:30 and then eat dinner! This is a recurring problem in my school. Everyone always has two to three hours of homework but the school just flat out denies it and says that you only have ten minutes per class and that should be under an hour.

Today has been successful so far!
- Braved the cold and went out into town (it's still too chilly for the countryside but it was probably a bit dense on my part to make that a goal in January of all the times - case in point, it's just started lashing down a load of sleet outside!)
- Made friends with the violin, near-enough got it in tune and managed to improve on some exercises (I'm thinking part of it is the strings settling down but the tuning pegs themselves seem a bit off-kilter - they're either really slippy or really stiff)
- Actually succeeded in finding three jobs to apply for! They're only part-time but they're relatively local, so it's a start.
Currently enjoying my reward of curling up by the heater and watching a bit of Clangers. :D

Still plodding away with my custom order. And been keeping up with daily posts, although some have been last minute things.

My other goals haven't been touched yet. I should work on cutting out the pieces so I at least have them ready to go.

Sometimes other things need focus:)

Car is in limbo. If it's fixed...yeah but it could be worse and cost us over  $1000:( it's a mix frustration. I just took it in to be check for 1, and two when I noticed issues with it, hubby kind of ignored me or got mad at me....but it's my learning experience. In short it's my fault ...sorry just stress getting the best of me.

Still in temp job and part time job, I just want a permant job...its causing problems I know my stomach is hav in ng issues and I clench my teeth. My partime job messed up my availability so I might loose hours and with looming car payment/repair....blah

Sorry I just needed to pour out. It will get better at some point, just want to know when.

Today has been pretty successful as far as goals go.
Slept in for an extra hour, which was not so good, but once I did manage to scramble out of bed, I found three jobs to apply for right after breakfast, then went out into town to pick up some provisions for my housemate (he's off work with the dreaded man flu - seems well enough to keep mithering me for cups of hot chocolate though!!!) and in terms of trying out more different food, I got some little highland oatcakes that I can put cream cheese on for something quick and simple.
Also stopped by the library to get some more books to read at night; I'm aiming to limit myself to reading one or two a week, depending on length, rather than just racing through them like usual.
Got some guitar practice in, started learning a song I really like, only to find that it requires palm muting, which I haven't learnt yet. All the chords were there, but they sounded a bit bizarre, and that would explain why, so my next task is to get my head around that technique. For the sake of a little victory, I'm going to learn another finger picking pattern today as well.
But first... laundry. :/

Finally, now that school has started up for me again I can post in here with purpose!  ^.^
I slacked on checking what textbooks I needed because I had rented a few that were unnecessary last semester. I've already got a good handful of homework, and I haven't even started one of my classes yet!
Balancing work and homework will be a bit of a challenge, as this workload seems to be more hefty than last year.

I've been sleeping a lot lately, to the point where I sometimes wonder if Something Else is going on. Lack of motivation, tired a lot, not interested in my passions.

So today, I decided I would clean, even just for 20 minutes, to at least be able to say I did something productive. And I did.

I relocated the ponies in one of my large bins to 3 smaller bins (testing a new storage system), used the larger bin for 2 of the playsets clogging up my living room (it's an 80s explosion in here) and put them away instead of leaving them out.

It feels REALLY good to have that task done, that space back, and the knowledge that I worked towards one of my goals today. Ridiculously good. I'm going to give myself 10 minutes of fun, then tackle one of those invisible corners that is so much more pronounced now that the large bin/small bins/pony stuff is out of the way.

That is wonderful Shatyr. I always feel really good about cleaning something too.  I don't have any of my ponies out anymore either.  Although I do have a small few up on a shelf due to lack of room anywhere else for the little guys. So big huge congrats to you.

Ponyfan that is so painful.  I am dealing with that also.  I can walk around but my arms are not very useful at all and my neck hurts a lot along with the middle of my back.  You have my sympathy as it is extremely painful. Hugs

Good luck with school Tailrustedtealeaf

Things are alright so far. Slowly adding more veggies on my diet, but not doing much exercise because I'm supposed to be studying. Still have to compile that recipe book for my own. On the other hand, I drew a full picture for a zine and dabbed a bit on animation. Nails are still doing good, growing slowly but steady; and when it comes to managing emotions, I'm still struggling but I think I'm doing better than, let's say, 2 years ago.

This subject is relatively easy? I mean I take a look at it and say "yes I understand all of this" but then I risk going blank when the real deal comes.

If it is any consolation, I have been eating chocolate this week - not too much but much more than normal (I hardly ever eat it, but I have suddenly got a craving for it - and no, I am not expecting a baby!) Perhaps I am due hormonal stuff soon... I am so irregular anyway that I am never sure!!

Spoiler

No gym - too busy with house clearance, which takes priority.

Not heard back from buyer solicitors yet, so no date suggested yet for contract exchange / completion. My solicitor gave a rough timescale of 4-6 weeks to sort my stuff out, but the sale may take longer, so I have given myself a 4 week limit to do as much as I can. I still have a small amount of decent furniture "decorating" the house which, once we receive a contract date, I can work around with a local charity for them to come and collect the furniture.

Phew so much done this week, the garage at the old house is *nearly* done!
After miserable weather, today has been sunny + glorious (a bit cold in the morning, but fresh later on)

Everything has been sorted into piles.
Dad has got a a free 12-trip permit for his trailer.
I have taken an ornamental bench, display cabinet and leather swing-chair over to my Dad's for him to restore (summer project for him to keep him out of mischief!)

Next week: the final week until everything is done - I hope LOL!!

take each pile in turn to the dump -
lots of broken wood,
lots of metal (Dad will get money for this!)
general trash
hard plastics
garden: lots of plastic plant pots to collect + either donate to some gardening org or dump them.

 :)

Thanks, Crowning_Glory13, I deserve a cheeky curry tonight!

Just had a call from my husband - he was chatting to the gas supplier and it appears they accidentally cut off the supply to the old house during recent scheduled works... hmm waiting for them to get back to us to see if they need us at the house while they re-connect.
We didn't notice 'cos we have a boiler that is both gas + electric (I don't understand how that works) but basically, when washing my dusty hands there, I get hot water on demand - I just assumed that the gas was firing up the boiler and doing its thing, but in fact it was all being heated electrically!

Ah, more stuff I'm supposed to worry about, but I won't let it!

Howdy everyone.  This was not my best week. I got really upset about something and it threw me off.  I did read and stuff, but I ate ice cream one day and candy the other two days.  Today I am going back to normal.  One step forward two steps back.  I was supposed to go out of town Saturday morning and our plans changed with R2 was called into work on emergency.  So, I am leaving this morning.  Such a stress and a half.

i too am struggling... *sigh*  still in mind fog, my back is all twisted up, my carpal tunnel and tennis elbow are all inflamed and been so since last tuesday.

also had one of those fun two day, nearly non-stop screaming "LET IT GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"-type spousal fights about useless stuff we can't change.

at least employment insurance FINALLY came through, in time for DH to pay all minimums and a mortgage payment to deplete the total amount less than 24 hours later.  gah!!!  I would like to have money I can actually KEEP in my bank account!

DH also has strained his neck.  So fun.

suffered all night with stomach pain and a wild bout of "have your period four days early for no reason!" on thursday.  then it stopped friday?  last BC pill was taken yesterday and I should be expecting more "fun" tomorrow but I have no idea what is going on, since there is zero chance of functional reproduction.  D: sorry TMI!

I feel everyone on the car repairs... auggggggggggh my sweet lady, our 97' Dodge 1500 Ram, she needs ~$10,000 in work done.  I just don't even know how we are going to do it!
First is a new windshield, then the most expensive repair is, the entire exhaust system has to be reconstructed into a dual-exhaust system as we had a HIGH input air intake installed years ago, due to the wacky catalytic convertor always stalling out the engine.   LOVE THAT on the freeway!!!!
And I am not even touching the body work and paint... she's a rust bucket now. and DH slid down a black ice hill into a wall last week so now there's a new ummmmmm..... "angle" on the back end.  LOL

haven't been able to "catch up" on cleaning, cooking, planning or journal-keeping.  Not that I seem to do much besides stare at the internet...  :(

and tomorrow I have an appointment with a psychiatrist that I DO NOT WANT!  I don't know what to say, I don't know what to do, I just know that she can't help me.  The intro appt did not go well, in fact, it went as I expected - the therapist told me she didn't want my DH coming with me, and he wasn't to be told of what was going on.  I told her that I would not consent to treatment that didn't involve him as a support (because he's my freakin' husband, hello!) and she rolled her eyes and handed me off to the appointment scheduler.  *sigh*

oh and my stepmom in law is coming over today ... while DH's at work, and I hate dealing with her as I never know what to say politely...  plus she is in town for a funeral...  and the house is trashed.

Then we got a letter from the IRS claiming we owe them $12,000 USD... oh for heavens sake... I have sent them EVERYSINGLEFORM I can think of that is supposed to tell them, "living in Canada, working in Canada, paid in CAD, paid my CRA taxes, go away now".  I guess with the gov. shutdown going on, that is lower on my list of problems !  LOL No 4 hours on hold with the IRS!

oh my job interview...  yeahhhhhhhh...  turns out the owner of the company was actually looking for volunteers.  He looked horrified when I clarified, that YES I had been PAID at my last job.  PAID!  Yes with insurance, retirement benefits, Employee Assistance Plan, vacation, sick and flex days!  Ya know, because it's a professional position!!!!  *facepalm*

Back to the drawing board... if I can drag myself there...

*hugs to everyone*

*hugs for everyone*

I've had a bit of downer weekend as well, although that was mainly down to anxiety, a bit of pointless family drama and the general public being horrendously ignorant (it's snow, not the end of the world!) There was also a job I wanted to apply for but the office has been closed all weekend, so I'll just have to hope that it's still available in the morning.
Still keeping on top of music goals at least, that's helping to calm me down a lot, although my dad shafted me on getting together to have a practice session, which didn't really help matters. I wasn't bothered that much about the music side of things, it was more about actually spending some flipping quality time together! :pout:
Kept up with journalling as well, made a point of writing in there that tomorrow is another day, the start of a new week, and a fresh chance to turn things around. Fingers crossed!

Ponyfan, I am so sorry...:( bad poo happens and it’s ok to turn your focus. Sending hugs and hopes to you.

I thought I would share how I do points for myself. Might be an idea for others try.

Each day I write a list of what I want to accomplish on the day. I put my main four goals first and then other items. If I complete an item I get a point. If I do something naughty like eating extra food, I loose points depending on how mad I am at myself.

So this is my list for Thursday to Sunday. (I added days, as I was planning the rest of my week.

1. Piano
2. Walk
3. Food tracking
4. Clean shower
5. Vacuum
6. Knit
7. Update my eBay
8. Nails
9. Piano
10. Walk
11. Knit
12. Clean ponies
13. Update pony sales thread
14. Knitting notebook updated
15. Knit pony outfit idea
16. Find temp blanket notes
17. Walk
18. Piano
19. Fix second job hours
20. Dishes
21. Tracking
22. Tracking

Strike thoughts are items I did. Because it was Thursday to Sunday I repeated some tasks. So for these days I got 14 points. I got 6 points on Monday, 1 point on Tuesday, negative 1 point of Wednesday (I did a good list 4 tasks done but got an extra so I took away 5 points). I lost 10 points on Thursday for eating an extra second time in a row.

For the week I got a total of 24 points for the week. 24 / 7 days = 3.4 tasks per day. So I almost doubled my points like I hoped to do. Normally I would do a reward because I played piano more then before, but the extras came this week, so it completes my punishment:P yeah it can sound harsh, but it gets me to try.

My goal for next week is to reach an average of 2 tasks a day. Some of my rewards have been having treats like a piece of cake, or getting a pony, or I can work on a knitting project with new yarn...or even a lazy task free day:)  maybe something you might want to try:)

This week has been, well, flat for me. On the one hand, I did get some work done at home. On the other hand, I was out of work for 2 days due to office flu, which means I've been gone for 4 days straight and the sheer amount of catch up I'll need to do tomorrow is daunting. Somehow, even with the flu, I gained a pound this week? I don't think that's how it's supposed to work...

Spoiler
I'm in the middle of meal prep for the week. The paleo breakfast muffins are baking, the chicken is on the grill, and veggies are steaming. I'll have to do another batch on Thursday and I want the dishes clean and away before bed.

I migrated another large bin of ponies into 3 smaller bins and put 2 more playsets into the larger storage bin, which cleared up more space in the living room. The plastic bins I've been using aren't large enough for the last 2 playsets in the living room, so I'll have to find some larger cardboard boxes for them. Slowly (very slowly), the apartment is starting to look like a Responsible Adult lives here instead of an 80's hoarder.

I haven't done any cello this week and cancelled my lesson on Saturday. I had a fever and flu symptoms Fri-Sat afternoon, but I still feel like I could have practiced earlier in the week. I'm trying to schedule some makeup practice time this week, but with all the extra work I want to get done, it could be tight.

My work for the Dedicant Path has suffered as well. I wanted to get out to the State Park across the street to do a nature walk, but our overdue winter finally hit and there's a good half-foot of snow out there. We need the snow, badly, but spending an hour in nature while the snow is coming down when I'm recovering from the flu seems a poor choice on my part.

This week is our week, right? Respawns all around? I'd rather not have a repeat of last week. In fact, last week is a pretty good motivator for me. "Not again" could be next week's mantra.  :work:

Well, today didn't quite get off to a roaring start because I got woken up at 4am and couldn't get back to sleep, just stubbornly hunkered down in my blanket-cave and ran through story ideas until the alarm went off. :/
Still, within 2 hours of having gotten up, I learned two new finger picking patterns and a scale on the guitar, did some reading and called about the job I had my eye on, which has apparently already gone (then why leave the advert up?!) Looking at the job postings today, there doesn't appear to be much despite thorough trawling, so I may just come back to that tomorrow.
After that, I cleaned the house, sorted out the recycling, made lunch and put in some violin practice (definitely seeing some improvement!)
So it's been kind of a balance of ups and downs, but I'm still feeling positive anyway.

WE CAN DO IT, EVERYBODY!

I don't know if I'm out of the mindfog yet, but I am trying to struggle forward with house chores.  I feel like sunlight is a huge part of it.  If I hang the laundry outside, then it just makes dealing with all the other chores easier.   I have a similar points system going on like Crowning_Glory but I don't want to redeem it on snacks and treats... I'm kind of waiting until the budget gets easier to handle and then I have something in mind...

Yes! So true - glorious sunshine so helps lift my day!
Foggy grey clouds have loomed over us these past few days but when the sun broke through briefly yesterday, oh it made me smile!  :sunny:

Spoiler
Still clearing stuff at the old house - a bigger job than I expected (I thought I would be done in 1 week but here I am in week 3!)
Things are organised into piles, though. What takes ages is carefully filling my car + travelling to the tip to dump it all, ah well. When alone, I have to lock-down the house, then re-open it when I return for round-2 of tip. Ideally, I need someone there while I am out.

Today - day 3 of waiting for a "potential" gas man visit as there have been some gas works done and the old house has accidentally been cut off  >_< which leaves me loathe to leave the place when I do my tip-run, in case I miss him + he drives off. Hoping my Dad turns up just to be around in case the gas guy arrives.

I waited there yesterday, changing my routine to move big furniture + sweep and wipe-down 3 rooms in the actual house - but no gas man arrived... at least the house itself is done - all that remains there is confirmation of house sale/move-out date so that I can get the local charity to collect the nice house furniture in their big van.

Old-wood pile needs dumping - but it has become tedious when going to the tip and having to explain AGAIN that the bits are OBVIOUSLY broken-up household furniture and not DIY planks - as they now CHARGE you to dump this  I saw the dump technician guys approach someone else holding a bit of furniture and they said the same thing  :|  still, it will help clear space, needs must, assertive-face must be worn!

Dad will bring down his trailer to load unbroken (yet trashy) wooden furniture, not sure if that is today, though.

Then next job: separating the sprawling metal pile into copper/steel/alu/brass - there is a LOT of it. We used an angle-grinder yesterday to cut some of the bulkier stuff up. My Dad got £90 for some random copper scraps that he would otherwise have dumped, so it is worth the effort! He's retired, so he can do this bit at his leisure. May involve putting it all in his trailer for him to take home and do there.

I  have been so busy that I have not had time to play with my new unicorn cutting-dies - only got a chance to cut out a few felt shapes to see how they looked (rather lovely!) but no chance to sew + make bunting (yet).

My life is currently: school-run, old-house, school run, sneak in some laundry, shower, cook evening meals, take kid to club activities, sneak some washing-up, reading with kid, settling kid down for sleeps, sleeps for me - with a bit of laptop browsing to catch up on life + news either before anyone wakes up / late at night!

Our house is a mess, husband works long hours... once the old house is done we can get our lives back!!  :freak: :freak: :freak:

A lil' quick update here, my exams are finished and I'm starting school again next week.

I bought a second hard drive and I'm copying the information from the previous one to it (in other words, a back-up for my back-up!)

I would like to go back on working on a few custom ponies I left behind for like, 1-2 years!  :yikes: But first I should finish my pending art piece for this month.

tailrustedtealeaf, good luck on your art goals!  :green: love to see another artist here

Crowning_Glory13, good luck on your tasks! I know how self-defeating can be to only be able to accomplish one or two tasks in a day, but those are still accomplishments!

Good luck Glitterball. Sigh I dotnt have much to report. I have been getting extras, and not being good. So if I want to reach my average 2 point goal this week, I need to be diligent.

I am however giving you all a challenge this week. Wednesday to Wednesday  (or when you see this) you need to post a positive of your progress. I am hearing boo good, and I think if we get some positives going it would help. If you can post daily, great, if not , you can post a few days together.

My positive today is I could have had a second cup of coffee, but I opted for water instead:) might get more as it's morning for me, so the day has just begun.

Stay positive everyone;)

Also artists I really do like pictures.....please:D

My positives today:

even though it poured with rain (making loading the car a no-no) I did manage to find some other, sorting work to do. I have filled 5 glass sweetie jars with vintage glass beads! Yaay! Twinkling beads!

I left 2 hours early (no gas man, no call to say he was on his way, so stuff it!) + did a quick grocery shop + now have a wholesome dinner planned, even finding some cheeky frankfurter sausages for my kid (she loves them!).

Had builders at our home earlier today to fix the bit of cladding that blew off last week. Worry gone and job done!

Husband is working at home today, so I will give him a cuddle when he is off the phone!

Nylon ponyhair arrived from Retrodolls UK for Cherries Jubilee! Woo-hoo! Still awaiting my US Dollyhair order for Honeycomb. Can't wait to start re-hairing them - I may start by preparing the knots over the next few days in the evenings.

And now - a few minutes "me time" to relax with a brew!

I'm still forgetting to post, but I read everyone else's.

I have made some progress on some art pieces, but they're not done enough to get pictures of.  I hope to get some done by this weekend, but we'll see.  We're having a Writer's Conference at the library where I work so I have to work Saturday (it should be fun, though) so I might not have as much time to work on my pieces as I would like, but that's okay.  I've gotten my room a little better organized by removing art projects that are in progress to another room.  It helps me to focus on ONE piece at a time instead of trying to do them all at once.  I've been trying to walk on the treadmill more.  I'm still not back in the habit of it but I'm getting there.  Progress is happening.  :)

Positives:  I have sewn a pair of shorts and a shirt for my DD's Barbies, and I have upcycled two pairs of her leggings into another longer pair!  :)

I hope to finish upcycling a pair of her shorts and a too-tight LaLaLoopsy shirt into a bigger shirt for her by tonight...

when I get in a moodfunk, I seem to really love getting out the seam ripper and deconstructing too!  :)

I've had 3 days this week (it's Wednesday, right?) of three full meals, all breakfasts and lunches were Paleo.

I met my hydration goal yesterday and still have time to make it today.

I've made some good progress on my 3D printing plans and have all of tomorrow to work on cleaning.

I kept myself busy at work and tackled 3 issues that other people were avoiding. As it turned out, they were not all that difficult (just time consuming) and I notified another team of an inventory issue on their side. I also showed someone the special cutlery drawer in the dishwasher. I love that thing.

Tomorrow I'm planning on doing a big workout and cleaning as much of the front room as I can. I found some empty cardboard boxes that can work as temporary 80's storage until I find large enough plastic bins. Depending on how dedicated I can be, I might be able to run my first 3D print tomorrow afternoon!

Today has been a bit of an odd one; I was all set to give myself a day off let my hair down, but I kind of half did that but half kept up with goals as well.
I was in a duff mood yesterday, didn't get much sleep, woke up equally snippy this morning, but the sun came out briefly and I think that dropped some motivation in my lap. I learned something new on the guitar, practised what I already know on the violin (going back to learning new things next week, so I can attempt to improve my atrocious bowing technique in the meantime) and dropped some bits and bobs off at the charity shop. Also gave into temptation and got a bizarre, very tiny vase for 50p; it's really weird but pretty, with psychedelic-looking patterns in muted colours. (Its so kitschy that it's kind of strangely tasteful!)
In terms of trying out some different food, I got some salt and vinegar rice cakes for a light bite and tried another different kind of soup, which is a bit lacklustre. There's half of it left, which I'll finish tomorrow, but it hasn't earned a regular place in my cupboard. Next week, I'm going to make an effort to mix it up in more ways that just soup...
My last task for today is to get some more jobhunting done, then just to relax for the rest of the day.

I will not go into detail as it would be very long and more of what's your problem post...so I shall say this.

My whole life I have never had support. I dud pageants and music, but every show I was alone. No family or friends cheering me...it was all me. I went into music to help Simone like me feel they were not alone. I have a student who is singing professionally in Nashville, TN. I have a student who figured out how to make a decent living playing Tuba, I have a student who is now a theater photographer and just graduated last year!!! I did this. I have the talent to teach, and I might have only 4 students but I will have more. If I move with my husband's job I will still teach. I am good at what I do and I will continue on this path because it's my passion, my dream, and my path.

Sorry hubby thinks I should just sell insurance because we might move around so much and that is hard on teaching, and really it's a dying art...yup not going to do that:)

Won't be the first to go it alone, and it won't be the last:D

Good on you, Crowning Glory! :thumb:

---

The sun has been out for a decent length of time today, so I went for a nice walk around town and listened to a lot of music to lift my mood. Didn't make it into the countryside but there are random patches of town where it'll be suburbs on one side of the road and farms on the other, so it kind of counts.
Didn't get much sleep last night due to stress, partly down to Beginner's Paranoia with the violin. It's a cheapie electric and terrible with it, really wishing I'd ignored my dad's well-meaning-but-ultimately-awful advice and just spent a bit more on a halfway decent one. I'm having to play it without the pickup activated because the volume is either nonexistent or deafening; it's immensely annoying and pretty counterproductive. On the plus side, I seem to be deftly avoiding any scratching noises. Still, I'll just have to soldier on and dream of the day in the distant future when I can upgrade to something good... kind of debating whether I should stick with the electric kind or eventually ditch it in favour of an acoustic, but it'll be a few years until I can justifiably make that decision anyway.
Guitar practice has been successful but I've been at that long enough to be comfortable with it and how to get the best out of it, as well as a clear idea of my aims, music-wise (folk or bust!)
Best of luck for the weekend, everyone!

Many music stores can to trade ins and payment plans. Many of them just have a monthly fee, and if you want to change the instrument you can. i used to work in many different stores andthey all did yhe same thing:) its a nice option.

Thanks for the suggestion, that's a great idea! There's only one music shop in my area and that one isn't great, but I'm going to have a look round and try some different violins whenever I go out of town. The right one will be out there somewhere! :)

That makes more sense.  If it makes you feel better one year for Christmas my brother decided to buy $100 worth of TP as a gift for our youngest brother and since he didn't have a car, I drove him.  The cashier thought it was hilarious.  I wasn't sure we were going to fit it all in my car!

I don't know if it's a possibility for you, buy my cello teacher also offers lessons via Skype, for bad weather or vacation or travel situations. It's not as good as in-person, but might make for an attractive option? One week in person, one week Skype could interest people who want lessons, but have travel limitations.

Hi everyone, it has been a rough few weeks.  I have lost like 6 pounds, keeping away from the candy.  I have been reading but I have not memorized like I wanted to.  I did make the very first applique part of my first pony quilt block.  Can you guess who she will be?  Shadows in the picture make the pink look bad, but she is solid, clean pink in color not dirty. She looks odd right now because I have not made hair pieces yet or symbol. It was quite painful to cut this out.  So this is it for me for the day. R2 won't let me clean out boxes right now due to my pain levels.

ooh, tulagirl, will your pony become Milky Way? Wow - 6 lb is a great loss!!

Spoiler

Today - tummy cramps - hmm I wonder if it is hormonal time or something I ate? Anyway...

the gas folks came + dug up the road + re-attached a new supply pipe to the old house. Scheduled for a house visit on Monday to "purge + flow" and test appliances work  So, that's positive. One less job to worry about!

Also got a chance to photograph the decent furniture - will ask our local church if they want first-dibs on any of it before I call a hospice charity to collect it, maybe next week. 2 of the cabinets would have made awesome pony display cabinets but I have no space for them...

Estate agents called me - but only to say that they have not had further feedback from the buyer re: his survey etc. They think the survey report is taking a while to write up (?? really ??) anyway, suits me as it means I still have time to clear out more stuff without panic.

Really, what's left is just the piles of pre-boxed stuff stacked against the wall, a couple of vintage drinks cabinet things my Dad wants (will need to load a truck for those) and the remaining huge pile of bulky metals scraps (Dad can use his trailer) Plus some random bits in the kitchen (cutlery drawers need emptying, but that is a half-hour job that can be done whenever).
Oh, plus a pile of tools in the garage (our strimmer, brush cutter, twig chipper etc.)
Jeez, you think you've done it all and then realise there is more!! But there is a light at the end of the tunnel, at least!! Do-able within the next week if the weather is kind, hehe. That's another positive!!

Did a grocery shop, bought lots of veggies + fruit, but was also naughty and bought a huge bag of crisps (potato chips) that tempted me with its half-price offer; I just scoffed about half of them, oh well...

Otherwise - a lazy day; did a BIN for a flocked Paradise, just waiting for her to arrive in the UK and see what condition she will be in!

Husband is now making an apple cake with our daughter downstairs. I don't know who is going to eat it, though!!

Is it Moon dancer, Tulagirl?

Glitterball you amaze me. I was happy to report I did dishes and vacuumed, but the feels like pennies to you, hahaha.

Trying to get myself more positive. Just so much unknown in my life it's starting create stomach issues. Planning out my projects so I can make some funding.

I did find 35th anniversary ponies. There was butterscotch, blossom, and cotton candy. Cotton candy just spoke to me so here and soarin went home with me. 9.99 was too get all three, but they are great rewards for me:) so I pure them at 20 points this week. A lot to work on, but I am using my time now to organize:)

Way to go Tula girl on the 6lbs loss. I really need to get a scale:)

Spoiler
tailrustedtealeaf - take advantage of this Sunday and challenge yourself with a 2-hour time slot to catch up on school work - I am sure your family will understand!  :)

Ponyfan - clear your head for 15 minutes - are you able to go for a walk? Even just sitting at home looking at birds through the window? Just something to distract your mind and recharge your batteries? Or run a hot tub and tell everyone that you won't be available for the next half hour + leave you in peace?

Crowning Glory - all completed tasks are successes - and oh wow what a great pony haul - I have 35thA Cotton Candy too as my first (and only) choice, due to her being my first ever G1 as a kid! My friend in San Jose found her for me (after searching 3 Targets) and is keeping her safe until there is a UK-US staff visit from work, then she'll fly over the pond to me!!  :P

Still got mild tummy cramps but no sign of hormonal stuff yet; I am never regular in that department so it is always guesswork for me.

Today, I am cooking the family Sunday lunch.

Just before Christmas I loaded my freezer with meat joints etc and now need to eat through them all - today: roast pork, veggies, Yorkshire Puddings (little savoury pancake-batter "cups") gravy + apple sauce. Mum is preparing the roast potatoes. I have a posh tarte tatin (pear tart) and fancy vanilla custard for afters.

So, not too groovy regarding calories but Sunday is my relax day.  :P  :yummy:

Lots planned for tomorrow and the rest of the week at the old house, hopefully my Dad will be there too.

As February arrives, I will expect a call from my old gym to sign-up again with them - I really want to - but want to get the house done as much as I can before then - plus money is a bit tight this month (had to pay out to repair our house after the recent gales) so I might ask them to start in March - we'll see! I know I am a bit out of shape (didn't like my other gym) but boy I am going to be achey when I re-start!

For some positivity here, I've been struggling with starting my paper lately but I think I eventually found a good work flow. I'll get a good chunk done by the start of February if I keep up like this! Also, I finished that lineart but I'm letting it sit because well, I'm still not very good at it and I would like to check for issues first. And finally, I passed all my subjects except one (and because we've got an awful teacher there  :pout:)

I noticed I don't usually bite my nails, but only do so when I'm very anxious, stressed or bored. I own a lil' fidget cube to keep my hands busy when the biting bug arises but I would like to learn more alternatives.

I had great intentions to get more organized....and realized my knitting bag is so big, not really good to take to places like work. Sigh I just use plastic bags. Glitterball: I'm going to try to catch up after my shift today. Classes that I have tomorrow are priority, and then I can catch up on English and such Monday night. I just need to stop being so lazyy
Dreamer: Congrats on your workflow! It's nice to get somethin' going. Have you tried spinners? They do more for me than cubes did. There are also spinning rings you can wear or necklaces with small fidgets that may suit you more than a cube.
Crowning Glory: Hopefully they're just swamped with orders, or busy? Hopefully they respond soon.

Oh wow, Crowning_Glory! BUT it gives you a 2-month goal to work towards!  You can do this!! To tone up faster, do some simple lifts with small weights (even cans of food will do!) as it really helps tone up any wobbly bits that won't go by dieting alone!

tailrustedtealeaf - hope you caught up!  ;)

Dreamer - well done for passing nearly all of your subjects! I hope the stress goes soon  :)

Today - we have a gas supply to our old house - yay! Then my husband told me we have a gas man to come and service our own home boiler on Weds - so I drove home and scrubbed my kitchen  need to shift lots of laundry tomorrow too, so looks like I am on a marathon clean-up at home tomorrow until I take milady to her swimming lesson after school

Well, I calmed down a bit over the weekend, did some research and narrowed down some violins that seem reliable and have a nice tone, as well as finding a place to try some out. It'll mean travelling to Blackburn (three trains!) but it'll be worth it to have a decent choice and people with experience who can help me make the right decision. Not sure when I'm going to attend to that, in the meantime I'll just attempt to muster a slightly more tolerant attitude towards my electric violin...
Also applied for a job at a flower shop and got a call-back with an interview for tomorrow morning! Quite looking forward to it; I've always fancied working as a florist. :D
My sleeping patterns are still a bit all over the place, most likely from stress and possibly also trying to cram too much into my day. I'm going to have a trial run on getting up an hour earlier, take that time to relax and prepare myself, and see if that makes any difference.
Other than that, I made a start on a new issue of my comic, which has been on the back burner for a while. Might've gone a bit overboard with the easter eggs but it's good fun to do... :P

On a good note i gained 15 points on Wednesday. I was very productive, but no work out. I started to feel icky and skipped it, but sadly I still feel kinky. Sigh, but who knows what my day is going to be. I am however going to make my goal double points. Last average was about 2 points a week. I might make to 4. I get another 35th for reaching a 20 point goal. But now I am dangling the carrot and have to get double point average, or the rest of the week has a work out:)

I like to reward myself, but I really make myself work for it.

I haven't posted much at all this month. I've been reading but haven't felt like posting much (or had anything to post).

I did have my 1 custom sale this month, which I finished on the weekend. The customer loved it from the pictures, just waiting now to make sure it arrives safely and she's happy with it in person. Then I'll post some pics.

Otherwise haven't really done anything. The custom order took up the whole month, so no prep for the craftshow or anything else for my store. And my storage room still feels like a disaster. But hoping I can catch up in February and maybe have some more motivation (I really don't like Winter and January, so that might've been some of it.)

Crowning Glory, that outfit it really beautiful! :)

Just my luck, the work trial at the flower shop fell through, so it's back to square one on the jobhunting front. Still keeping busy, my housemate and I had a massive clear-out all around the house yesterday, which was a fracas but it's done now and we had a good laugh while we were at it.
Haven't gotten much done on my music goals due to being too busy, but I put a fresh set of strings on my favourite guitar and noodled a bit to help them settle in more quickly.
Also made the most of the sunshine today and went for a little walk through the semi-countryside areas around the outskirts of town; there were plenty of sheep and some horses out in the fields! :D
For the weekend, I'm probably just going to relax and take the time to cook something nice. There are some spicy falafels and whole lot of vegetables with my name on them! :yummy:

Homework has been my life right now. I ate dinner at 8:00 pm last night because of it. I've been drawing a lot though when I can because it helps me relax, but I haven't been practicing Gaelic because having to do it stresses me out a bit and I really don't need that now.

Same as Safflower, homework and school duties have taken over my life. So far, I've been dealing with them the best I can. Right now I finished my duties for today, so I'm just exercising (I've been falling behind that due to the aforementioned studies)

I had a major setback this week. Basically, I ate junk food, slept poorly, and didn't do a thing to advance my goals. I'm now almost back to where I was at the beginning of December.

I've thrown out the rest of the junk food. I'd rather loose money on the food than leave it around to tempt me. Most of my pre-work chores are complete, minus the batch cooking. I have to pick up some perishables from the grocery store and a package that somehow was shipped to my parents' house instead of my apartment.

I'm rebooting this week. Exercise, clean eating, plenty of water. If I double-down on my effort, I should be able to recover my lost ground fairly quickly.

This week's off to a productive start; to keep myself from hitting the snooze button repeatedly, I got a cheap little alarm clock. With my horrendous eyesight, it's easier to find the lever that turns the alarm off than it is to find the snooze button, so I actually got up early, cleaned the house and had some time to meditate before a guy came round to fix a hole in the floor. I also got some jobhunting done and practised some patterns on the guitalele, all before 9am! After all that, I went for a wander in the snow (there wasn't enough for it to stick on the ground but it was still nice) and picked up some rice, fruit and cereal. Planning on getting some violin practice done while I have the house to myself as well but first, a cup of tea is in order.

Woot over flowing marble jar. I am so lost right now. Fighting way too many emotions. Due to working tons of hours and saving I can go to one job...sad part is one job is temp to March 31st, one is part time, possible full time if a position gets open, and the other is 4 piano students. I have to stay working as 2 of these could be full time, but each day is unknown. It just stresses me out, so I get lazy and freaked out a only want to huddle in a ball...not even a desire to knit. And that's what I want to do for an income! I want time, but not motivated for time and basical 25 days to loose some weight for a play....arg. I do get paid to do this play, so that's a bonus.

If you got any advice on motivation, I will try it...this stress is making me physically ill, and with the flu going around it's hard to tell if it's that or just me.

Thanks everyone

Crowning Glory - I'm bad with motivation. It only lasts me a day or two. I've tried mantras, inspirational sayings on sticky notes and taped to walls, lists of reasons and bribes. What I would rather have is discipline, which takes far longer to cultivate, but lasts long after motivation has faded. That being said...

Maybe try just 20 minutes at a time? If 20 minutes seems too much, try 10 or 5. The hardest part, that I've found, is getting started. This is true regardless of the project, be it cleaning or exercising or writing that darn essay (I'm having flashbacks to grade school while typing this). With crafts, it's one row or one thread or one color and then it's off to do something else. Also, make sure you take regular, short, breaks if you're working on a long task.

If you're so exhausted that the things that bring you joy aren't even a temptation, maybe go for a walk outside? Change the routine up. Have breakfast for dinner. Wear fancy clothes in the middle of the week. It will feel weird, maybe even uncomfortable, but it can help get the mind out of the familiar paths that have been dragging you down.

Crowning Glory - so sad to hear that life has become extra stressful for you  give yourself a break. Eat that slice of cake. Drink that glass of wine. Be kind to yourself

Sorry - not been here in a while, was so busy working at the old house... until... uh-oh...

Spoiler
received an email today from the estate agent - the buyer has decided to no-longer go through with the purchase  :hmm:
oh well.

But... I phoned his surveyor off the record - as he had invited me to call him in case the sale falls through as he may know some other interested parties - it pays to be friendly to people - and he told me all sorts of interesting things...

ANYWAY my plans have now changed for tomorrow - meeting a new estate agent thereafter my current one to see what to do next; I plan to change agents as the new one covers a different sales district so we'll see if I get any bites...

Bah, this screws up my house moving plans for the spring, unless a new buyer is found very soon!

Also - been exchanging emails with my old gym who want to welcome me back - I told them that I may need to build up my stamina again... just need to pick a new day to start again  :P

Sorry to hear about the buyer dropped out, glitterball. Fingers crossed you can find someone else who's interested!

---

Today has been a bit of a struggle because my nerves have been all over the place. I got up early, woke up stressed and was tempted to hide in bed but I got up regardless and was out the door by 8am.
Another guy came round today to do an asbestos check on the house (all clear!), which I knew was going to happen and he was a nice chap, but that didn't help my nerves at all. The house had been cleaned top to bottom but there are still some repairs that need doing and I was ridiculously conscious of those things making a bad impression. :/
Got a bit of guitar practice in and learned a kind of blues-ish pattern, didn't manage to do anything with the violin though, there was just too much pulling at my attention.
While I was out, I did stumble upon something interesting; there was a flyer for these Snapp Happy bands that it says are related to cognitive behavioural therapy practices (been on and off the horse with that for two years now, with varying degrees of success), so I've decided to give it a go and see if it helps. As well as challenging anxiety, it might help with developing other positive habits as well; if I catch an unhelpful impulse that goes against my goals, then I can twang the bracelet and (hopefully) get back on track.
Going to get an early night tonight and hope that today was just a blip; I could really do without another round of feeling on edge for no identifiable reason. :pout:

Today's been a bit better, still on edge about a lot of things but it's more manageable. I slept quite well last night, although that's a bit difficult to track in terms of progress, should probably keep a little sleep journal in my diary, along with the notes on everything else. For some reason I've been having a lot of stressful dreams, which grinds my gears a bit because it hardly sets you up for the day. :/
I got some guitar practice in first thing this morning and attended to the violin after taking care of everything else that needed doing during the day, although I couldn't stick that for too long because it was murder on my shoulder. On the plus side, my bowing technique is improving, so there's less awkward noises from hitting strings that I'm not meant to and the shrillness of the strings seems to have calmed down a bit.
Currently rewarding myself for that effort by curling up under a fluffy blanket with some chillout music.
Haven't really done much in terms of trying out new food so far this week; there are things in the freezer but I haven't been motivated to give them a go yet. I tried a different type of rice with my mackerel and veg for lunch which was alright (albeit a bit of a cop-out), kind of a Mexican style thing with some kidney beans in it, not as spicy as I expected but still very good.
My Snapp Happy band turned up as well, not a moment too soon. So far it's proven helpful, I twanged it more than a few times during violin practice to keep The Paranoia at bay and reframe my thoughts in a more constructive fashion. It's not all that visible but I opted for a rainbow-coloured one with little unicorns on it, so it feels a bit more like something fun and positive than cold, clinical therapy-type stuff.
Spoiler
Rockin' it like a boss if I do say so myself! ;D

And tomorrow is another day. I am not going to let an irritating thing like anxiety derail my goals!!!

Well, I started keeping a sleep journal in my diary and that's mostly swearing (so not making great progress there), still having all the trouble under the sun with anxiety despite trying beyond belief to get it under control and among all this, I have another job interview on Monday which is technically a good thing, but my nerves are making it feel like a matter of life-and-death that's inevitably bound to go wrong, despite making plenty of effort to prepare.
Still keeping active at least... haven't really succeeded in trying out any different food this week because nothing actually interests me at the moment and it's kind of stressful trying to make decisions about what to try, so I may adjust that goal to "Don't literally get the same stuff in every single week".
Haven't done much music-wise either.
I'll treat next week as a clean slate and maybe when my head's a bit clearer, draw up a list of unnecessary causes of stress to trim from my day and also relaxing things to make into habits.
:stressed:
*anyway that's quite enough grumbling*

I am with you on a stress full week. Still holding 2 jobs in case I loose both or only can keep part time. Our car is now going to need $2000.00 In repairs, so no buying anything. Did not use my time this week very well, so I am lacking  in all my projects. We might be moving again, in July or sooner, so that ways heavy. We found a kitten out in the snow, and the integration to our 3 cats and a dog is a bit rough. Now we have 5 pets, so its a bit over whelming. The play starting in march is looming as i will have very little time. A mom is not allowing me to teach, so I just sit and listen to a kid practice for an hour. It's just frustrating. My student who started in October knows more than this kid who is in 3 years playing. Tried to explain the lack of knowledge her kid has and it will improve her skills, but if she is not playing the piano for the entire hour she thinks it's a waste. It's those moments of I don't tell you how to do your job....sigh. got it all out.

This unknown thing needs to fix itself.

Feburary is a short month, so make the best right...ok I need a positive. It finnaly snowed like 10inches in my area. I love snow, and was seeing too much dirt this winter...so yeah:D snow:D

I haven't been able to paint as much as I'd have liked over the last month because my sister had surgery so my mom went to stay with her and my mom's super needy dog won't let me alone in a room without whining at me the whole time.  But she's supposed to be home on Sunday so hopefully I'll be able to jump back in and get caught up to where I want to be.  And I decided to buy a knee brace and today I got out my roller blades (which I haven't used in years) and skated around our garage since my mom's car wasn't in it.  I wish I'd thought of that when she left a few weeks ago but the thought only came to me last night.  Maybe I can convince her to move the car out of the garage sometimes so I can blade on the only flat paved surface we have.  Our driveway is super steep so I don't dare blade on it.  I'd roll into the field across the street (assuming I could even stay up on my feet the whole way down)

Hmmm getting quiet here. My week is rough, and yeah it's only the beginning.

So let's get some positive chatter going with a challenge.
1. Your post here has to say challenge at the beginning.
2. You need to pm me your address with challenge accepted

Here is the Challenge.
Look at your goals from the beginning. Rate how you are doing from 1-5. Be honest and be nice to yourself. If you complete the challenge, pm me. I want to send you a little pick me up:) very small so international participants can join in.

Challenge.
Knitting for me started out about a 5 and it's now a 3. Gotta work on it.
Piano was at a 4 since I was doing better than the last round, but it is now a 1. I really haven't done much.
Working out is a 3. I have not done much, but I do keep things in mind.

I know I have more goals, but those are my mane ones:) I see I need some improving, but I don't feel I am doing as bad as I thought I was doing.

I really have not been able to keep up with any of my goals due to issues going on with family, health issues and a whole mess lot of stuff.  I thought when I joined I would be able to do things, but even typing on the thread is hard for me write now.  So, I would have to say that for the challenge I would decline.  It didn't work out well for me and, I am not thinking at this time I can reach my goals I had set.  I really need to see some more specialists and concentrate on getting the proper diagnosis and then work towards my treatment plan.  Maybe it will be medications or Physical Therapy.  Maybe even some surgery too.  It is taking me forever to get appointments and sometimes R2 can't drive me and, I have to start all over again.  I just absolutely can't do much.  So I admit that I am just not doing well participation wise and probably won't.  I got some very bad news health wise last Monday and life has been a bit rough for me ever since.  So, now my goals just don't seem important to me anymore.  Sorry Crowning Glory.
It is my hope that others will do far better and reach your goals. I will be cheering you on in my heart.
The good news is my house manager has returned.  She had quit for a higher paying job and now she is back since that job was not so good.  I missed her a lot and having her back has helped lift my spirits a great deal.  She is just so nice and helpful. :)

Tulagirl, you try and have the heart, and that in itself is an amazing goal:) even if that was not your design. You took the time to evaluate your life, choices, and you stuck to the most important part of this journey. That is you. This is all about us doing our best and adjusting goals to fit our needs. In actuality you are doing a wonderful job. It's not about reaching those goals, but working on you. I see lists of positives from you in this round, and you should hold your head up high and be proud:). I am proud of you. May things start to turn positively with your health. My prayers are always with you:)

Sorry for not posting - been so busy...

updates:
Spoiler

House sale fell through  - felt a bit WTF about it all as I had PLANS this spring to find a new house...  >_<

Chatted to other estate agents - so tedious, but hey....

Current estate agents have lined up 2 buyer visits for tomorrow + Saturday - yay POSITIVE!

Lots of travelling over the past few days to visit relatives - naughty food - ALL THE CHEESE AND CURRY  :yikes:  *pats wobbly tummy*

Re-joined my old gym + had my first session this morning! Everyone so welcoming. Worked hard but tried not to push myself too much as I need to ease myself in. So far not stiff (just give it time...) but I am wheezy and have a sore throat  BOOOO!!! I won't let this stop me!

Hormones are doing their stuff after a week of cramps (and too much chocolate munching) Nothing quite like a gym session to shake the last dregs out of you (sorry, TMI!) but no more cramps yaaay!

Back to wholesome eating this week after all that rich stuff... will stir-fry some chicken + pak choi + veggies tonight  :thumb:

Weather is miserable in the UK at the moment - cold, grey, drizzle. Come on Spring, we need sunshine to cheer us up!!

Motion seconded - springtime really needs to hurry up, I want to get some gardening done!

---

The interview went better than expected; I haven't heard back yet but it was only 2 days ago so I'm not getting narky about it just yet. I made a bit of a day it in Manchester as well, had a walk round the slightly quieter streets and listened to some music to relax.
Another employer contacted me after I'd applied with some additional questions about travelling to work and what-not, so hopefully I'll hear something from them as well.
Still having trouble sleeping but all I can really think to do about that is try to reduce stress more during the day; that's the only thing I can think of that could still be throwing a spanner in the works for me. :/
Gotten back on the horse with guitar and violin practice, making sure I learn important details rather than just diving in with songs all the time.
And I've been busily making more progress on my comic for a kind of easy confidence boost to motivate me with my other goals.

Good luck, Crowning Glory!

Safflower, thanks for mentioning the draw together! I read the prompt and I would like to join.

I've been falling behind my goals again  school work has been swamping my progress, but at least I've got it up to date (for now). The nail biting thing while being anxious hasn't changed  :cloud:

I would like to improve my speaking, because it embarrasses me. Unless I prepare it for a class subject or something like that, I tend to stammer, not come up with words or the end of a sentence, sometimes I don't say anything because I have nothing to say! I wish I could change the way I speak so I could give a better image of myself. This is my new resolution but I don't know how should I tackle it.

Have you considered an acting/theatre class?  I know that helped me.  I used to be so shy that I'd tell my teachers not to call on me in class--not because I didn't know the answer (I was a straight A student) but because it made me sick to my stomach to talk in front of people and my nervousness would make me stammer over my words, too.  I decided to take the theatre class my Junior year of high school because I wanted to change that and the public speaking class seemed too intimidating.  I ended up majoring in Theatre.  I know it doesn't seem like it would help you but theatre people have to study a lot of different subjects and the terminology used in plays (especially the classics and Shakespeare) tends to improve your vocabulary immensely.  Sometimes I use words that seem common to me (due to them showing up in the many plays I've read) and people I'm talking to have to look them up.

You are never stuck in your goals in healthy pony. It's all about working out and fine tuning yourself. Make adjustments, changes, or new directions. Each tiny step helps. SDS WAS my first host in healthy pony. And it got me excited and I worked really hard. When she let me host, I was thrilled to share my love of this. I used to sneak food almost daily, now I hardly do...except really really bad days. So each movement even a fail is a step in the right direction.

Hubby has left for his trip...i just hope for the best..limbo is really hard to work with.

Well, I've had yet another job interview today, entirely out of the blue. I was out for a walk this morning, got a phone call and was asked to go in this afternoon. Not sure how it went but I gave it my best, especially considering the short notice. Fingers crossed (yet again!) I'm gonna take some time to relax tomorrow...

Let out some emotion and hoping for a productive week. I don't work as much so maybe I will have time to focus on me. I am challenging myself this week...going for 100 points...i know...i hardly make 14. Well this time certain things will be more points. Like knitting a pillow for a friend will have more than 1 point, but doing something like take my vitamins today will only be 1 point. Bigger wammy if I go get junk food. Yup for a week I have to be good. I get to buy a 35th anniversary pony if I get 100 points. I won't list them all but I will keep posti g my points:) get some chatter going:)

Well, I got a knock-back from one of the jobs I went for last week; it's pretty rare that employers ever take the time to get back to me, but I'm still a bit irritated about it. It's been a bit of a stressful weekend and that wasn't what I needed.
Went out for a walk this morning to try and clear my head a bit, put in some guitar and violin practice and after some more jobhunting, I'm going to focus on art for the rest of the day.
Hopefully the rest of this week will be better. :/

I'm back up to where I was at the beginning of December. All that weight loss progress, gone...

So I'm focusing on basics this week. 64 oz of water each day, at least 3 workouts (even if it's just 10 dumbbell squats and 10 dumbbell overhead presses), and reclaiming my living room.

In the living room area, I'm almost done putting away the playsets and I've uncovered some items I thought were already away. It's sort of a two step forward, one step back thing, but it is starting to look better.

Meal prep, I'm good until Weds night, at which point I'll need to go grocery shopping. Then I can batch cook on Thurs for the rest of the week. The Valentine's candy is on sale and I can see the Easter display going up, so I'll have to double down on my vigilance. I have a weakness for Cadbury Creme Eggs.

I have been practicing Gaelic every other day, which is a good start to get back into it. I've been doing a bit less drawing though. And of course, getting a stye on my left eye from allergies is not helping either.

Hugs with the state.

After seeing/reading people talk about drawing, do you do it for fun, money, do you do like comics? I ask because my drawing is ok, but I have story ideas. I am not sure if I am good at writing them, like a book. Thought of drawing out the stories, and improve my drawing as I go.

Any thoughts...i do have a goal to be published some day.

Generally I draw for myself and sometimes give them as gifts to people.  If you want to draw something, go for it.  :)  The hardest thing I find with drawing is that I haven't found my own style yet.  I feel like I just copy everyone else so I get frustrated trying to draw something that I can consider original because I over-analyse my work and only see everyone else's influences.  But maybe I need to consider that the amalgamation is my style.  Hmmm...

Had the day off from work so I painted all day.  :)  I finished three boxes (one of which I started over six months ago and couldn't decide how to finish it off) and have started two others.  I had planned to spray seal the small set of drawers I finished last week but it snowed last night and it's still too cold/humid to use the sealer that I want to use.  Once it warms up I'll seal the paint on everything but for now they're in pieces on the bed in the guest room.

59 points today! Half way there. I get 1 point for small items like taking a vitemin (so bad at) 1 point for drinking more water, but walking certain knit projects and piano get 10 plus points. But bad whammy if I have extras or bad. There is pasta at work tomorrow and it will be hard to say no. It also helps my husband had to work later, so I had to keep myself busy...and not eat.... sigh half way there can I keep this gusto?

I can not wait to see pictures of your painting. We should do some pictures to liven up the forum

oh i must check in and try to stay positive.  gahhhhh my updates still are full of negative stuff!  :(  let's say between my cat recovering from 2 surgeries in one week, and my entire household coming down with "it's not the Flu!", yeah... best not to elaborate.

Crowning_Glory13 : I really am hoping that you find a work schedule that is best for you!  *hugs*  how stressful!

glitterball :  love hearing how much progress you are making with the house, even if it's not being purchased by anyone at the moment.  Less stuff you have to do later!  :)

Miniature Sheep :  Totally understand you on the self-confidence thing...  I don't share most of my creative endeavours as I am embarrassed to.

Safflower :  Focus on school if that's the thing that is moving your life forward!

Dreamer : You are not alone in feeling this, as you can see :)

Pokeyonekenobie :  we'd love to see your work!

Shatyr : it's about learning new habits and choices in your mind first, and less about what your body does with those choices.  that will eventually follow!

Drank my 64 oz yesterday, but overate at D&D (they brought BBQ chicken for dinner, it was soooo tasty...).

Staying home today, the roads are lousy with snow and I honestly though I would end up driving off the road on my way home last night. It'll cost me PTO, but I have tons of that and I'd much rather live to use it.

So, since today's an unscheduled day off, I'm going to see if I can't reclaim my living room early! If I'm diligent, I can maybe even play with the 3D printer this afternoon!

I wasn't nearly as diligent as I could have been. Got some good progress on the living room, but ate poorly. Drank enough water, probably going to bed early. Didn't get to touch the 3D printer, but tomorrow's another day...

Well, I got rejections from two more jobs yesterday, had a bit of a meltdown about it, now I'm back on the horse and finding more jobs to apply for. I know that the problem is my social anxiety; I prepare a lot before interviews and in my previous temp jobs, managers have always said that they've been really happy with my work, it's just my nerves and struggling with eye contact that undermines my capacity to put across what I have to offer in the workplace. :/ I'm trying really hard to get past it, regardless of how incredibly stressful it is, but progress is slow and I have a lot of setbacks.
Also been trying to focus more on achievements to keep from getting too bogged down in frustration; my guitar playing is improving in small but noticeable increments and the violin is... well, it could be a lot worse considering that I've only been at it for roughly two months. :P I'm also two and a half pages away from finishing another issue of my comic, with the writing for three more waiting in the wings, which is a nice change from finishing one and then agonising over what to write about next.
And I'm still keeping active and making decent choices about what to eat, rather than "can't be bothered, may as well do soup again", so even though jobhunting is completely draining, there are other areas where things are going well.

Minituresheep, I want to know more about your comic!!! Is there a place you post? I would live to read it. I did a comic a ling time ago. It's was rough, but I had a lot if fun:)

It's ok to melt down. Rejection us very hard. I used to compete a lit and being told no you are not the winner killed me each time. I used to think it was my fault, I wasn't good enough, but really I just didn't shine today. You will shine, I just know it. You will get that job:) but screaming and crying are ok....some times letting the emotions out helps... I just did a what's your problem post, and I feel better and more clear about my path. I have a hard time with eye contact too, I try and look at the mouth.

It's a new day, and it's not looking fun for me:( sigh.

Got to work early, with my meals prepped and my mind focused. We'll see how long the mind part lasts.

I've made so many personal plans, but I only just realized today that I haven't really made any job plans. I want more than where I'm at, but my bosses aren't all that great at providing guidance on how to move up in the department. "Every promotion is different, we'll know to promote you when you prove you have what it takes" is well and good for them, but it STINKS when people are trying to develop themselves as employees.

Crowning Glory, to answer your questions: I would love to make a job out of my drawing some day, but it's not at professional level yet. Despite that, I'm glad with what I'm able to draw right now  :) So mostly I do it for fun. I like comics! I'm not drawing any yet, but I've read some books about comics and I would like to give them a go. If only I had good stories to tell.

Pokeyonekenobie, my style is unpolished as well. But I don't mind it too much right now, because I like getting experimental and trying to draw in new styles or see what fits mine best. Art style is kinda like a broth, you've got lots of ingredients but you have to let them simmer for a while so it becomes its own thing  ;)

I've been trying to be a bit more talkative these last two days and while I had some goof-ups, so far it's been good. I hope that if I get over these confidence issues, I'll be able to talk more eloquently on my speeches and exams for class.

Painting my nails definitely helps! I always try to make the healthiest choice when it comes to eating but it is not always possible. I still need to look out for recipes.

Anybody going to treat themselves after they accomplish their goals? Care to tell me more about it?

Thanks for the tip, I'll give that a go! Normally I just do a lot of talking with my hands, but then I'm a very animated talker in general.
I do put my comic up online but even though there's nothing offensive in there (I like to keep my comedy free from any kind of malice), there is a fair bit of swearing in it as one of the main running gags is contrasting academic-sounding writing with absurd and crass things, so I can't link it from the Arena. :P

In 2018, I want to accomplish:
1. Get a Etsy store up and running.
2. Finish three different art projects for said Etsy store.
3. Begin to make money from my art.

What do I want to accomplish in the first 3 months?
Finish one art project and start selling it on Etsy.

What type of needlework is that, Kiwi? It looks like a cousin of cross stitch but I can't place it.

Drank my water. Ate an entire box of Girl Scout cookies. (Warning: Avoid the s'mores cookies. Those things are evil. Delicious, but evil.)

I felt really good at work today, I think partially because I did some major work on the disaster that was my living room. Having a clean and tidy physical space does seem to affect my mental space. Something to remember. I've got 6ish months before I hit 12 years with the company, 3 years with this department. I'm going to use the rest of February to brainstorm some goals for work and plan them out, then go to town March through August to see if I can accomplish them and impress my bosses. If I don't get promoted from that, then I'll have at least built some skills I can use in other departments.

I'm about to head to bed. Tomorrow's the regularly scheduled day off, but I'm still going to do my best to get up at 4:30 and follow the normal morning routine. That way I'll have time to work on the living room before heading out to get my oil changed. Then it's regular chores, taxes, and, hopefully, 3D printing.

Welcome to the group, Swirly Whirly!
Kiwi, that mailbox is absolutely gorgeous! The mini one is really sweet as well. :D

I've got to stay in today to wait for a delivery, so I've done a heap of laundry, cleaned the kitchen and got some guitar practice done, been experimenting with playing in different positions over the soundhole. I knew that playing near the bridge made a twangy sound but I never knew that playing nearer to the neck would make a more mellow tone - it sounds great!
I still need to get the violin out at some point today but I don't want to get into a groove with it and then not hear the courier at the door.
My sleeping patterns are still a little bit erratic but I have found that playing simple, old-fashioned games is a good way of clearing my head before bed. I did a heck of a lot of miniature bowling and played plenty of Solitaire with some space-themed cards as well - even won a few games!

Thanks everyone :) I was really happy with how it came out (and now I get to make another one).

Shatyr - it's plastic canvas, so very similar to cross stitch. Still a form of needlepoint, just done on a plastic grid so it's sturdier and you can make 3D items (and it uses yarn instead of thread since the holes are bigger).

Welcome, SwirlyWhirly!
I found an awesome website about grammar :D I think the main reason that I'm not practicing is bacuase I just don't know the grammar and Duolingo doesn't teach it. So it gives me a complex sentence I have to translate into Gaelic, and I know what the words mean,I just don't know where they go. And Gaelic has a very different order of words, going predicate subject object. So I am very glad I have found this website, and that it is free!

Great mailbox, Kiwi!  :)

Sorry for not posting much, lots going on...

Spoiler
Mum went to hospital to get an epidural (injection in her spine) to attempt to dull some nerve pain that is affecting her walking. Lots of pre-op prep earlier in the week involving sterilising her skin daily, fresh bed sheets + towels daily etc... I will drive over this morning to see how she is, but so far so good...

Lots of quick visits to the old house to check that the heating is on (it has hovered around -1 degree C outside for the past couple of weeks and a warm house is more inviting to prospective buyers!)

World book day next week - been stitching together a little costume for my kid, it is a bit macabre so I have had to tone it down so that the other kids don't get nightmares - she is going as Blue Beard's last wife

Oh - and I have been at my old gym this week! 4 sessions so far, another scheduled for Sunday morning... it's like I never left them! Tiny bit sore but not too bad as I have been pacing myself - no point giving it 110% and then pulling a muscle! Happy to report that I can still do a few chin ups - but 4 is my limit at the moment  need to re-build my strength but I'm getting there! Slow + steady is STILL progress. I have booked up all my main classes in advance up to June, so far, with scope to add any extras ones if I feel the whim... Summer will soon be here and I want to fit in my nice clothes again without wobbling!

I have had to adjust my day to start early + go to bed early in order to fit my gym - need to be out of bed by 5am to get ready, eat + then drive there. Getting home by 7:25 means that I *just* miss the crazy commuter traffic across town, leaving it too late means I can't get back in time for the school run!

I starting seeing funky lights in my right eye today - booked an emergency eye test - so far all looks OK, still have a headache.

Due to go again on Thurs for pupil dilation and repeat of my eyeball scans/photos.

Because I thought I would be pupil-dilated today I left the car at home + walked the 3 miles in the cold... so I burned some extra calories to offset my oven-baked fries this evening

Good luck with eye exam, Glitterball!

---

Looking over how I've done with my goals this week, it's been a bit patchy. My routine had a huge spanner thrown in it and there's been pointless drama that drained my energy a bit, but it hasn't totally ruined my weekend, where it might have done a while back.
I might need to set a goal for daily meditation again and actually track it because I've only done that a couple of times this week. Haven't been doing much on the violin either, so my aim for next week is to engage with it properly rather than just going through the motions. I have been getting suitably fired up on the guitar and have learned some new things, could really do to afford the violin that same level of enthusiasm.
In terms of varying my diet a bit more, I changed my usual combination of vegetables a bit and took the time to cook some nice fish seeing as I was stuck round the house for the better part of two days. During the afternoon yesterday, I did pretty much dive out of the house just to catch the last bit of sunshine and go for a direly-needed walk, it was quite refreshing.
And my sleeping patterns are still a mess. That's partly where I reckon actually sticking with daily meditation would be useful, both in the mornings and at night, but for some reason my head can't reconcile just sitting down and relaxing for a while.
Could really do to get some art done as well, the wind has really gone out of my sails on that one but at the same time, I need it to come from a place of wanting to do it, rather than feeling like it's an obligation, so I may just leave that until the actual desire to put pen to paper comes back around.

That's a great idea with art....and I might need to do that with my knitting. Make it more of a desire. Verses a chore/habit.

Great news. My husband took a different position at his work. He is being recognized for his talents, and I am so happy for him:) he really needs this. For me that means no move anytime soon!!!!!!  We might actually get our own place, no more in-laws basement, I can advertise music lessons, I am so excited. I sadly have to keep my second job until March 31st. My temp job comes to an end. I have not heard if I will be hired on yet. Until I get paperwork to stay on nothing is a guarantee. This temp job has options to work from home. It would be my dream!!! I get so stressed out with people and drama at work. I would love to wake up, do my job and no issues. Sigh one day at a time.

It makes me realize that sometime you have to let it out. I did a what's your problem post and I really did get negative out and not festering inside.

My other goals could use some work, but I am pushing through. Each day is step in the right direction, even if I go backwards

I hit my water goal yesterday, still haven't worked out this week.

One of my callers (I do internal tech support for a financial institution) mentioned that the smell of fried/sugary foods is repulsive to her after going keto. That happened to me after I went paleo for two weeks. I miss that state of being. It was great to be able to say "I don't want the donuts" and mean it because they smelled bad to me, instead of "I don't want the donuts" while fighting the craving. It inspired me to keep going instead of chowing down on Girl Scout cookies.

My two big goals for this weekend are to reclaim the living room and to file my taxes. I always put off filing until March or later, even though it only takes about 30 minutes to complete. I really want to get it done in February this year. Plus that means the refund comes sooner!

I got my tax return so I decided to print all the photos from the last 10 years so I can start scrapbooking them (which was one of my goals on the last round if I remember correctly).  I put in my order on walmart.com and it was pretty huge (almost 7000 pictures, but that's really only 700/yr which is approx 2 pictures/day so considering all the trips I took to Disney World, Universal Studios, New York, and several Comic Cons--some trips had over 1000 pictures just for that 1-2 week period--it's really not as many as it feels like.  I saw a lot of fun stuff.).  Anyway, the site advertises shipping to home in 3-5 business days.  Well...my order was so big that my shipping option was free if I was willing to wait for it to come March 5th.  Since I'm not in any hurry, that's what I went with.  The funny part was that if I wanted it by Feb 28th, the shipping was $54,000.00. If I wanted it by the 27th it was $74,000.00.  How insane is that?  Literally more than 100 times the cost of what I was getting.
:drunk: :money: :lmao:

Wow that is some shipping costs  but glad you made it. Feburary is almost over, and we end March 31st!! Keep it going:) knitting today is about the most I will get done today, but I have to finish a project, and my time is going to be so limited as my second job is treating me like it's Christmas hours, and I have a play I am in coming up. So I better finish up:) they have been waiting for their items for awhile.

Pokeyonekenobie, those are some serious shipping costs!

Crowning Glory, that outfit looks fabulous! :D

--

My main goal for this week is scuppered right out of the gate; I got mixed up while tuning the violin (thanks yet again to lack of sleep), the A string has snapped and it's pointless getting a replacement on its own, seeing as I'm not particularly enjoying these Prelude strings - they sound very clean, which isn't bad per se, but I'm after a sound with a bit of texture to it. I can't afford a fresh set at the moment so it'll have to go on the back burner for a couple of weeks.
I think that incident got under my skin a bit because of the recent drama and it's also happened just after the scanner broke and I'm just like "Nothing else is allowed to go wrong right now." -_-
On the plus side, I did actually sit down and meditate for a few minutes this morning, going to try and get another little session in later on as well. Perhaps if I succeed in that, then I'll be a bit more focussed and there won't be any more violin string mishaps...

Keep level headed, it's hard well it feels nothing goes right. Finally got needles order. They have been out of stock, and I finally got 1!!! Sigh. This is my last free Sunday, as I will work 3 jobs and a play. So apre time will be hard. I did try hard this week.

Lost track of my points, but I feel I did my best and I will reward myself. The trick will be to have time and get it. I just got a commission for a knit project...my second one:) they know I have to finish a pillow before I can work on theirs:)

No Gaelic. I spent 9 hours working on homework over the weekend. I have to get a vaccination today, so I can't do my flimsy wing contest photo today unless I really try. But I do hope to squeeze in some drawing in my wait at the doctor's at least. Ugh, why?!

I haven't gotten much painting done, but I did get a bunch of Pokemon Coloring pages uploaded to my DeviantArt page.  I still have more to put up.

Well, despite my overwhelming urge to hide indoors where it's warm, I ended up braving the cold a few times to run some errands and for that, I decided to go totally wild and treat myself to some sushi - 100% worth being belted by the wind and snow! I am actually staying indoors today, though.
Also picked up the slack on varying my diet a bit more, been doing more proper cooking with nice results and got back into doing porridge for breakfast because cereal does not cut the mustard in this weather.
And I gave some TLC to an old classical guitar which appears to have been an Attic Special in its time - even had to clean the inside of it! Turns out there was a really nice little instrument lurking under all that accumulated grot, but then I generally have a soft spot for Eko guitars. I played it for a little bit yesterday but today my aim is to sit down and play it properly, rather than just testing to make sure it's alright after being neglected for so long. :P

I finally kicked myself in the butt to get something done - I cut out pieces for a few mailbox ornaments and card holders for the Church Bazaar this year. Now that they are cut out, there's no excuse for not getting some done!

I was feeling kinda energized after work yesterday (nice warm weather for a few days makes a huge change), so I cut those pieces, and also made a list for the weekend to get some stuff done that aside from being lazy, there's no reason I can't get it done.

I am really depressed and my confidence is shot. This is the last month for my temp job, and I could drop to only one part time job. I am just scared to be miserable ad I am not fond of either job, but I need a job:p

So if you have a chance post a picture of something that gets you excited, happy, smile, in a positive perspective, it can pony non pony pets projects, just need to lift my spirits as I spend my last free day this Sunday apply g for jobs.

Oh, I actually have something positive! My huge project that has been soaking up my time like a sponge is due next Tuesday, and I only have a couple extra drawings left :D This means I won't be working on homework for a couple hours every night, so I can actually have energy left and I can draw and practice Gaelic without it being a chore. Yay!

Yeah, some uplifting news...and boxes...hehehe. so I order needles that broke and they sent me the wrong part. I was sad. They did send me free wood needles, so its hard to complain. But the needles I need were in stock today and I grabbed the whole stock....i thinking I need to frequent this site and keep a stock pile.

Keep positive flowing...i am trying do hard not to cry at work
Title: Re: Healthy Pony the New Year
Post by: Shatyr on March 03, 2018, 09:02:32 AM
I read somewhere that crying can help balance a person's emotions, because the tears contain the overload of emotion hormones or something. Basically, the reason you feel emotionally flat after crying is that tears get rid of the excess hormones. The article was a lot more interesting and had some good points.

But I get red and puffy and congested from crying, so I tend to avoid that option as well. Especially at work. I hate crying at work. Although it makes my supervisor way awkward and that's always fun to watch.

On the good news side of things, I got some pony mail this week. Most of the ponies I had already, but there's an upgrade to my Flower Bouquet and a lunch box that I adore. I'm hoping the next set will have an upgrade to my Up Up And Away (chew marks, poor thing), but I won't know for about a week.

I started using DuoLingo for Irish/French/Japanese again and I'd forgotten how much I loved languages. Hopefully that's a habit that will stick.

It's been beautiful weather here the past few days (it's supposed to be 70 today. It's barely March in Colorado and we're seeing 70 degree weather. Tell me again that climate change is a hoax -.-) so I'm hoping to spend an hour in the park tomorrow. If I can find a good spot, I want to take weekly pictures to show how things change over a year. I figure a time-lapse photo series would be a good thing to put together to remind myself that change takes effort and time working in tandem, not separately.

I've been seriously lacking inspiration to work on my art this week. I don't feel the inspiration but the project I'm working on now is something I need to finish to test the market on Etsy.  I have one more project I'm going to try to sell so I might shift focus to that one because it's a bit more fun but it's kind of based on my first project so I really should finish that one first anyway. Blah... When I'm inspired I can work for hours and hours but now I have to force myself to do at least 10 minutes of art a day, which is my very low set goal, just to make it a routine. But of course I haven't even kept to that routine because I've been telling myself I have other things to do. I need to get focused again. Goals aren't fulfilled by doing nothing. I'll never make something out of this if I don't commit to it. End of rant.

What do you do when you feel uninspired to work towards your goals?

I've heard that going back to fundamentals can help with art block?

I know when I get to that point with cross stitch, doing Teresa Wentzler designs, I pick up one of those 2 hour ornament kits and do that instead. It usually helps.

Otherwise, I tell myself 5 minutes, or 5 things, or 5 reps. By the time I've hit the end of the 5, I either keep going because I've already started and I might as well finish it or I've seen enough progress that I get excited to see the end results.

...and now I want to 5 minute clean the kitchen before the next episode of my marathon. Dishes ahoy!

Been engaging in a few new projects for this month :) I'm working on my WIP custom (it's been 2 years since I touched it!), editing some videos together, attempting to write a story (not much yet but hey, it's been only 3 days) and even dabbed a bit in animation :p. So far so good, although I should pay more attention to my school duties again. But I'm doing good in those too, I think... I just gotta keep going!

Whew it has been a week for me!!! I have been working non stop and it is sadly not changing. I start practice for my theatrics play Monday. I was hoping my second job would back off, but no. I work almost 35 hours a week, a top my 40 hour week job, and they still call me to work on a day off!!! They still won't give me permanent full time.

My temp job can go out at any moment. I keep applying like they tell me, nut all I get is the position is already filled...sigh. I hope all the applications I sent in on Saturday will get me something.

I hurt my foot at work, but since this injury is from a past issue, I can't use my brace at work with out a doctors note. Even though this happend at work, it being a previous injury the job won't pay for it. I also have no time for a doctors appointment. Not sure what I will do.

This is our last month so let's make it count:)

That's super frustrating, Crowning_Glory.

Ugh.  That's how my week was.  For more details, look under the spoiler.

Spoiler
Well I haven't gotten to do anything this weekend.  My parents went to my nephew's basketball regional finals games and left me to watch their ultra-needy dog.  (As I type this, he's sitting outside my closed door waiting for me to come out.)  If I try to stay in my room to work on anything, he will start to whine.  he thing is, he's smart.  He totally understands what I say, even though my mom doesn't think he does.  For example, yesterday I told him he could walk down to the mailbox with me IF he stayed with me.  He walked a little ahead of me but went right up to the mailbox and waited for me there.  Then he followed me back up to the house.  (We have a super long, steep driveway--down and up is .1 miles.) If he wants to run around outside at 2 in the morning, he'll whine.  At least, he did until I threatened to turn him into a fur coat if he did it again.  So he listens and he understands, which is why it ticks me off when he refuses to listen.  And if I'm not paying attention to him, he makes sure I can't get anything else done, either.  If I try to walk on the treadmill, he'll sit there and bark at the treadmill, making it impossible to enjoy exercising.  We can't go for a walk outside because it's been snowing non-stop and even if it wasn't he pulls on the leash and there are too many interesting smells to let him stay off the leash outside my yard.  If he was a small dog it wouldn't be an issue but he's a malamute and harder to control, especially with my bad knee.  Yesterday, I tried to shovel the sidewalk and he kept jumping ON the shovel so I couldn't do anything. I even accidentally hit him with it a few times (because he kept jumping right in the way) and that didn't stop him.  (Good thing I have nice neighbors who came to shovel my walk after I gave up--even though it's snowing again and you can't tell it was shoveled in the first place.) So I've let him outside and then back inside.  And then outside.  And back in.  Out.  In. And in between (read as "while he's been outside for five minutes or less at a time") I've managed to vacuum and dust.  That's it for the last four days.  I hope the stupid snow storm lets my parents come home today because I seriously need time to work on things.  It's weeks like this that make me wish rent wasn't so expensive around here.  Unfortunately, since there's a college nearby, they charge out the wazoo for a shared room smaller than the one I get for free at my parent's house.  So until I get paid more or until I move away I'm stuck babysitting Captain Needypants whenever my parents decide to visit my sister, which is a lot more often lately.  It's been so long since I got to paint that the water I had to rinse my brushes in evaporated.

Well, the past few days have been... something. :faint:
I'm going to make good on my original goal tomorrow and go for a walk in the forest, it ought to clear my head a bit (and the wind seems to have died down, so it ought to be safe to go up into the hills.)
I've decided to set the violin to one side for a couple of months to work out how I feel about it and weigh up if it's worth going back to it. I'm too stressed to handle that issue at the moment. Still quite happily working away on the guitar, slowly inching towards barre chords, which I've been avoiding like the plaque for ages.
And I'm still keeping up with varying my diet, actually quite enjoying making different things every day. :)

Has anybody tried the Fluidity Barre workouts?  I watched an infomercial the other day and now I want to know if anyone has had any success with it before I decide to try it because it's kind of expensive.  You start with a trial for $14.95 but then you have 5 monthly payments of $95.00.

Well I went up into the forest this morning and saw a nice variety of birds, cleared my head a bit and then came home to find my housemate has been fired from his job under typically sketchy circumstances for that place. It took them over a year to give him a contract and now they've sacked him for no reason. He has much better communication skills than I do, so hopefully he won't have too much difficulty in finding another job.
Didn't get round to playing the guitar today but I did do some reading up on music theory; the numbers side of things mystifies me a bit but the more I pore over it, the more it starts to make sense, a bit at a time.
My aim for tomorrow is just to try and get some perspective and find more jobs to apply for. I've made my mind up about calling time on the violin, so I'm just going to rip the plaster off and get shut of that tomorrow. I can't reconcile going back to something that causes so much stress, even though I feel an idiot for having plunged into something that wasn't right for me, I figure you can't learn if you never make a mistake. I'll just stick with the guitar from here forward and develop as broad a range of skills as I can with it.
Positives, my sleeping patterns have improved a bit, not sure what caused it but it's a welcome change.

So, it wasn't even remotely on my challenge, but I wanted to share a major goal achievement. I just paid off my credit card! That frees up about $80 per month, which can go towards paying off the student loans and a Match.com subscription.

I had a plan in place 2ish years ago to have all my debt gone by 2020. There have been some setbacks, I'm likely a year behind, but the first major step is complete!

It's a great way to look at this challenge and future ones. Sure, I didn't accomplish everything I was hoping to do, but I am closer to those goals now than I was when I started. I just need to keep moving forward and remind myself that I can accomplish big things, it just takes time and dedication.

This week has been a bit all over the place, it's just completely breezed past me.
Managed to get out into the countryside, had an impromptu wander up to Kerridge which was nice and peaceful.
I've been on and off with music practice, mainly just fiddling about with the classical guitar. I've gotten a bit too used to the wider neck on it, playing the steel-string guitars feels really odd by comparison. :P
Took my eye off the ball a bit with varying my diet, haven't done any cooking because there's been too much going on. That said, I'm getting a bit tired of just copping out and doing either soup or rice, fish and veg so if anything, making the time to cook something different would be a reward in itself.
Also made a start on stripping the paint off the chest of drawers in my room, turns out there was a nice varnish under there to which the paint stripper has laid waste, so I'm going to sand it down and re-varnish it in a similar shade.
Today was chaos because of the entire heating system in the house being fixed; we finally have a decent boiler and radiators, so it was worth the fuss but pfff I might just take tomorrow to relax a bit.

I wish I could get my emotions in check. My morning started out rough. Just husband being a bad sharer. Sad we fight over a video game...sigh. I just get frustrated be cause I am off to work so I want a bit of game in the morni g too...nope husband who has the day off was into his game....arg but it made me more mad is I am at work from 7:00am to 10:00pm...and he couldn't even sit next to me during his game. Nothing huge just an annoyance since I don't do things when I have a day off and he works. It was downer, but I moved on. Still waiting on word if I got a school job. I have an interview of Thursday, but it makes a huge mess in my schedule and I tried to call them over and over and I get it worked out but they won't call me back...sigh makes me wonder if I should work for them. Sigh. My current temp job just makes me so mad. I see one person gets hired on during a temp and I cant???? She just turned 20, no degree, not held a job longer than 6 months, verses me who has a consistent track record, management training, and more...blah. I have one worker who does an entire task, but will not complete it. So I go in do all the work to find out that all I need to do is click my name....ggggrrrr it's a known rule if you complete a task you click everyone's name who was assigned to the same task so we get more work done. Forgot my script at home so no study for the play. The play will rip into me again for not knowing my lines....tring hard to cry at work....i had bought junk food to eat...sigh waist money

I just need to through my self on a sofa and be dramatic *Rarity reference there*

Thanks for letting me get it out. My emotions control how I eat, and it's never healthy.

Congratulations, Crowning Glory! That's great news!

---

This week has gotten off to a bit of a juddering start; I was all set to get some nice cooking done but the oven has broken. The hob still works, so I'm able to do things like rice, vegetables and such but most of the things in the house need a working oven. Luckily, I was sensible enough while I was in work to set a decent amount of money aside for any such emergencies, so my housemate and I went out and picked out a new one today and we're going to go halves on it; we'll both just have to live off of steamable things until Friday. :P
Had a bit of practice on the guitar, haven't been learning much new lately so I might have a crack at learning another song by the end of the week.
The weather has gone a bit nasty again so I'm not making any serious designs on going out in the country unless it warms up a bit. I'll just settle for going for a walk in town instead!

promise I'm still here guys :)

ugh what an awful few weeks of depression in our household!

DH has once again taken on too many responsibilities which means I mostly leave him alone because if I can physically see him, he's having needed downtime.

he's working more hours - this is good
he volunteered to build a large display at the annual LEGO club's display - this would be good, but...
said project turned out to practically require a degree in architecture to mathematically figure out HOW to build it - this is bad
Deadline is in two weeks - NOT GOOD
he has been sick with a new Thing each week since January - not good
he signed up to play EVE Online, made some friends, and is loving it - ohhhhhhhhh.

My IRS filings are late and I have to deal with things SOONER rather than LATER.
This year's taxes for both IRS and CRA are due and we always use what little refund for the upcoming house property tax... so also time-sensitive!

i tried to start journalling again... SO HARD... how was this so easy in middle school/high school?  Seriously I have years of my life poured in there, but it seems impossible to find 5 mins in a day to try and recall the smallest detail!!!!

i have forced myself out of the house on a walk TWICE this past month.  and it didn't feel good.  the only reward I got were Currently the treadmill is covered with above-discussed 8 baseplates of LEGO build so that is not an alternative.

I have started poking at my Duolingo Spanish again though!  I am somewhere around 20% fluency... but oh conjugations and question words...

now... off to the sign-up thread... i'm still trying to achieve goals!

Whew squirmy that is a lot to deal with. I feel your frustration. Big hugs, let it all out:) each steps gets you closer.

I know I said this before, but I had a horrible habit of eating fast good, AND eating supper. So yeah not good. It took 3 rounds to break that habit!!! But I slip maybe once a month. So all great habits take time. You will get there. See you in the next round.

Yay for the school job!

I have been sorting through all the pictures I got developed.  I'm almost done getting them in the proper year.  I'll worry about order when I get around to scrapping that year's stuff.   I've been painting as well.  I'm currently working on some vinyl storm trooper helmets and the Hobby Lobby nearest to me (the only place I've found that sells the type of paint I want to use on them) can't seem to keep white paint in stock long enough for me to buy enough to get it done.  I think I'm going to have to take a road trip this Saturday to two others and see if I can get enough to finish these up.  I'd like to get my projects to a manageable point but I can't do that without the proper supplies.  :P

Also, in case you didn't see my shout earlier, today is World Down Syndrome Awareness Day.  So since my little nephew has Downs, we're celebrating by wearing mismatched socks.  :)  Feel free to join us if you so desire.

Wow you stayed amazingly on task, way to go on the pictures:)

I am starting a bit early, but I have a weekend off  I have not seen that since October 2017!!! So I am making huge list of things I need to do. From cleaning to knitting to organizing! I get one point for each item.if I get 75% of my list completed, I will start off with my own personal reward points!!! I never get a weekend, so it will be great:)

Oh man...I still haven't managed to take pictures of things I've painted and post them like I said I would (for the last two rounds).  :P I need a warm day so I can seal the paint on a bunch of stuff!  Maybe I ought to take pictures of stuff before I seal it because it isn't like the seal is going to make any difference in how it looks.  Hmmm...maybe if I get a chance tonight...

I managed to give some time to all of my goals today, despite nearly being put off by unpredictable weather and lack of motivation. I set off in the morning with a view to walking in the hills, but some wind and rain picked up so I walked around the quieter parts of town for a couple of hours instead.
Also learned a new picking pattern on the guitar, it's a simple one but I was able to liven it up by adding a couple of variations to it.
And for lunch, I got some proper cooking done. Feeling quite accomplished! :D

Happy New Month, everyone!

Sorry I have been away from this topic, it has been a NIGHTMARE couple of weeks for us - long story short, my kid got sent home after complaining (crying and writhing) from itching - trigger = unknown.

Small rash on her neck spread to most of her body (bar her back and tummy!) and her poor little face - dark red bags under her eyes and ruddy cheeks.

We know of no allergies, but (5 doctor visits later) the various diagnoses include: an allergy / then virus / then eczema ?!?!

2 different anti histamines, 3 days of scary steroids then finally a 5 day course of antibiotics + steroid cream and the rash/itch has begun to subside - but any exercise or getting hot makes her prickle-up and itch.

This morning we got a referral letter to see a dermo consultant - 12 month waiting list on the overstretched NHS - or within a week if we go private (yay for hubby's company giving us family medical insurance!).

So, have been spending my days re-laundering everything in non-bio, giving her daily water-only tepid baths, smothering her in creams and battling with yucky medicines. Then my nights up all hours tending to her when she awakes itching. I am soooooo tired. Husband has lost weight due to worry whereas I think I have gained it from eating convenience foods (too busy to cook properly). Sheesh.

Hoping to get an allergy test done to see what (if any) allergy has suddenly developed. Have asked other parents if their kids have had the same thing happen - nothing apart from a scarlet fever outbreak locally.

Anyway, once she is better and we have an idea what is going on, I'll get back on track (and have a good sleep too, haha!)

No fun!  Allergies are so weird and frustrating sometimes.  I have a friend who is allergic to her own sweat and she recently developed an allergy to certain types of onions.  Not all onions, just one or two kinds--I think she can have red onions but not white ones or something weird like that.  Hopefully your doctors can figure out your little one's trigger without making you go through a billion visits.
