Hi pony friends :)
Im in the process of sorting and cleaning out my ponyroom and came across a stack of drawings from myself when I was a kid. One of them had a date, 15.12.1990, I was 8yo then.
I thought Id share two of them :P Lol, I wasnt exactly a Picasso but they are kinda cute are they?
Tehe, no thats no 6-footed pony... it has only three legs (barrel-shaped as those the yellow pony has), they are just not finished XD
I spy Rosedust and Majesty, no idea who that blue pegasus is.

It just occurred to me that, aged eight, you wrote My Little Pony in English. :)
Also I wondered if the baby in the pink buggy could be Baby Bow Tie..? Since she was probably in the comics even if you didn't have her in stores??? It looks like her buggy to me...

Hehe I wonder that too! I have a blurry memory that I had something with "My Little Pony" on it instead of "Mein Kleines Pony" but I have no idea what it was... maybe a poster or something? No idea! I only vivdly remember how I sat there and copied letter by letter so carefully!
For the germans here, I still remember giving the picture to my mom saying "Look, it says Mi litt-leh Pony in englisch!" (i.e. that how it would be pronounced if you read it out loud in german) XD
And for the buggy, yes I noticed the similirity too and wondered where I could have seen that set back then o.0 We didnt have it in stores, im pretty sure and I dont have any memories seeing it anywhere... but the similarity is striking!
Maybe youre right with the magazine! On to the ponyroom I shall go and check the magazines from that year! :D
Hehe, I also found a "newspaper" with random scraps from various catalogues and pony stuff in it. I remember my friend and I tried to build up our own version of the My Little Pony magazine :P

Did you have Lullabye Nursery?
I remember I had mine in around 1988ish, I think...I was 6ish...and it came with stickers that were in English, French and German presumably so the kid could choose the right one. I was the moron kid, because I put the German rainbow over the door, the French one on the wall, and proceeded to make up where the letters went so mine doesn't say B-A-B-Y. Later I tried to change the one over the door to English so ultimately wrecked 2 sets of rainbows xD. But I also have a sticker in English for Tiddly Winks and then ones in German and French with the Nursery on. That was my first exposure to non-English pony terms, so I wonder if maybe that was your first exposure to English ones??
The box for my nursery says made in West Germany. And in the UK it continued to be sold right up till probably 1989-90. We're the same age, roughly, I think - so that might be a possibility?

Hm thats a good idea but no, I didnt have that sadly (I wish I had, it was my favourite from the commercials <3). I had the Show Stable (Pony Haus), the kitchen, Baby Cuddles buggy and the bathtub. My Show Stable had german stickers which my guinea pigs ruined years later ...ouch XD

Hrm, I guess that ruins that theory then. And yeah, my stupidity was compounded by the fact I didn't ever realise the stickers were wrong until my sister got a second hand one and I realised for the first time that it was meant to say BABY. That was at least 2 years later, maybe more...
And it wasn't like I couldn't read well as a kid. I read from aged 2. I was just really stupid xD.
I can't think of anything else from that time that you wouldn't have had in German because it's later that they start making stuff more multi-lingual - much later. So how weird...
It's like I have a xmas list that lists 'Molasses' even though she was always 'Gingerbread' in the comic. I think the only way I couldve got the US name is to have seen her in the US box in Woolworths when they were selling them as a special exclusive there - but when I found DV I had no memory of ever thinking of that pony as Molasses, only as Gingerbread. It was a real shock to find my list.

Very cute. I don't think I have any childhood drawings, but looking back on some primary school books, I appeared to have written about my ponies a lot! It's lovely you still have your drawings :)

So, im back after going through my MLP Magazines from 1990 : no Baby Bowtie & Stroller pictured in them and everything was written in german (I didnt find a single "My Little Pony" in them). I guess it must have been somewhere else... but where/what? Lol, as I said, I wish I could remember :P
