Title: Member ponyadore2614 Scammer - Buyer Beware
Post by: xkappax on April 19, 2012, 09:18:17 AM
Hi.
I am starting this thread to make you all aware of some scamming that has been going on in the community.

19 days ago, I posted a want ad on this site looking for a FS :muffin: Pony. I was contacted by a seller that evening telling me that they had one and that they were going to sell it to me.

I was elated. I was having a sort of bad day, so I didn't think to ask for pictures. My husband was in the hospital being operated on that day and I hadn't slept for days. In hindsight, I should have asked for pictures, but I have never been ripped off before on this site. Everyone has been really kind. Until now.

The user in question is ponyadore2614.

I had a very pleasant communication going with this person and they told me the :muffin: Pony was shipped, I paid my money, blah blah.

No tracking number (naturally) so I was a little worried. I decided to wait the 5-7 days and see if the thing actually came. It did not, though. Contacted the seller, they told me it was held up because of the holidays. Decided to wait a little longer, until tuesday of this week.

I signed onto the arena and found an auction that was listed by the very person who was supposed to be selling  me their "one and only :muffin: Pony" ... now they suddenly had three of them. I PMed them telling them mine wasn't at my house yet, and that's when the lies started to happen.

I had to contact the moderators about this because I requested a tracking number from the seller which they refused to provide. They also would not post pictures of the item, and when they did give pictures, they emailed them individually.

Please be careful of this. I have missed out on :muffin: Pony forever because of this. I don't want any of you to get scammed like this. I am a trusting person, but now I am really upset, not about the money but about the fact that everyone who has :muffin: Pony right now is someone who actually wants her. My chance is gone because this seller strung me along.

If someone offers you a :muffin: Pony, please make sure that they can provide pictures to EVERYONE, not just pming you or emailing you them. I've seen a very similar thing occurring on some other pony site, so please, PLEASE be careful.

Here's the thread if you want a good read. :) http://mlparena.com/mlp/index.php/topic,293426.0.html (http://mlparena.com/mlp/index.php/topic,293426.0.html)

thanks for your time.

ATTENTION: If anyone is in a transaction with ponyadore2614 file a paypal claim ASAP. This member is a proven troll and scammer. DO NOT WAIT and escalate your claim immediately.

Thanks for the warning, have you left them appropriate feedback?

Yes, appropriate feedback has been left, mods have been notified. I have also contacted paypal to get my money back. I do not want this to happen to anyone else. This has been awful for me. :(

Join the club, my friend. My husband was in the hospital when she contacted me about it, and it was the ray of sunshine when he was being operated on. And now I have no :muffin: Pony. Cried all day yesterday.

I am so sorry for you dear...
i would haven't even bide if only i knew about your situation, and believe me, i understand you so much.

Al i can give you is a huge hug!

Thank so you much, SoSilver. You are very kind. :) I wanted to let everyone know about this, but I needed more information about the situation before I could say for sure. But after last night, when I was supposed to be provided with a tracking number, the seller disappeared. She ignored the mods request, too. So I just went to paypal and am in the process of getting my money back.

Sort of reminds me of flim and flam from friendship is magic when they skip town after their cider is undrinkable and they can't scam the ponies anymore.

I thought it was a little odd that they swore they couldn't get their pics to work...but knew how to link someone else's photo in a post.

I'm sorry this happened to you xkappax, I can only imagine how upset it made you.  I hope something works out for you.  Worst case, would you take a custom :muffin: Pony until you can find a real one?
Title: Re: Fashion Style :muffin: Pony Scammer - Buyer Beware
Post by: xkappax on April 19, 2012, 10:38:43 AM
thank you kindly, prismatic.
I wanted to tell everyone about what was going on, but like I said earlier, I needed proof first... so I'm sorry it took me so long to come out with this. I hope no one else got scammed by her.  :( :(

The good news is that I do have a custom :muffin: Pony that the very talented hannaliten made for me last summer. it is the prize of my collection. So I do have a :muffin: Pony to fall back on. But I fell in love with the fashion style one. Everyone is kind of disappointed with how big her eyes are, but I love it.

You guys are all great. Thank you so much for your kind words.

(on a side note, I just looked at your deviantart gallery, prismatic, you have some GORGEOUS customs!)

I am so sorry this happened to you and it was confirmed a scam after she didn't provide you the number. :(
At least you have us to cry on and support you because we know what it's like to deal with an awful seller, whether on eBay or here. I hope you can find another :muffin: Pony or at least find a super spectacular FS sized custom.
Thanks for letting us all know the whole story.

I wish I had been more pushy about my suspicion, that auction raised my eyebrow from the beginning, but I didn't want to seem like a jerk! I did contact a mod with the info I had though, and I hope you guys get your money back.
Title: Re: Fashion Style :muffin: Pony Scammer - Buyer Beware
Post by: xkappax on April 19, 2012, 12:28:14 PM
thanks to all of you. You are all awesome!

I'm actually glad that she posted that auction. I suspected her for a while, but as soon as that auction went up, my heart sank. I immediately had the evidence I needed, and then I went to the mod.

The thing that sucks for me is that this auction was suspicious. Her original contact with me really wasn't... so i didn't have the blatant warning bells go off for me.

Thanks again, all of you.

I have something to add to this case, I'm VERY sorry I didn't do something about this earlier or brought it to a mod's attention. >_<

On April 3, I posted a Wish List in the Wanted forum. Shortly after, I got a pm from ponyadore2614. The pm said that she had the following ponies from my want list for sale and proceeded to list just about every pony on my rather long list. She pretty much just copy and pasted my whole list into the pm. Which was instantly a red flag to me.

I pm'd her back saying I was interested in 3 or 4, and asked if she would send me photos, and how much she wanted for them. She said she would send her photos to my email address because "her photos don't attach here," and asked if I thought $40 was fair. I said sure and gave her my email address (at this point I didn't plan to actually buy from her, because she was acting so suspicious, I just wanted to see the photos and see if I could find them on google or something.) But she never emailed me any pics and never pm'd me again, so I just let the matter drop.

I'm so sorry this happened, xkappax. I sincerely hope you get all your money back. :(

Wow, I'm really glad you mentioned this!  The same person contacted me a while back saying that she had a lot of the ponies in my siggy lists.  I replied that I'd love to buy after the 30-day challenge was over, and I never heard from the person again.  Thanks so much for the warning!

I will go ahead and address this in this post as well:

Kappax- I do not appreciate you spreading rumors on here about me simply because your package has not arrived yet. I have replied to all your messeges you have sent and explained everything several times in a timely manner. This is simply ridiculous and I would hope to see better manners on such a board. Now from what I know(if anyone cares to hear my side as well?) Is that Kappax was interested in a previous :muffin: Pony I was selling. Correct. We did the exchange and she paid me and the next day I did send her out. Correct. Now Kappax had neither told me she wanted priority mail NOR that she wanted a tracking number when the package was sent so I was not aware until this week she needed either. From the time I sent her our has been about 1 week and a few days and most mail(especially larger packages) from my experience both buying as selling take from 1 week to at longest 3 to arrive. Also add in the distance factor. Now Kappax has been sending me 2-3 messeges a day which I reply to and yesterday did say I'd have a tracking number and photos of said package(which I do and am sending to her and a mod now)  I understand being anxious and worried I do. I do not understand badgering soemone every day when they have told you they are working double shifts and trying to reply asap.In any case it is being fixed at this moment. I just wish we could of discussed this like adults instead of being slandered in my own selling post to another member. I also have decent proof I am indeed a good trader/seller so please and thank you.

PS. If I was indeed a "scammer" I don't believe I would care me rating or hearsay on the forum.

Thank you ponyadore for posting, but you where asked by me to send pictures of the pony with a time stamp.  In which you did not comply.

I will happily await a photo with a clear picture of today's date.

The pony was apparently shipped on the 2nd or 3rd of April.

I am replying to both posts one more time. Alas I do have photos with yesterdays date and a tracking number for Kappax to send as soon as I get off work at 6pm today.

I can post them here as well but right now I rather not be fired just wanted to let all know :)

I think Ponylady meant a photo with a calendar and today's date circled or scribbled on a piece of paper next to the pony. Not a timestamp on the image.  :)

After much consideration. I have decided to leave this community. There is just too much drama and insanity. It made me not like ponies or people who enjoy them anymore as well.

So I must say ado to all have a lovely evening and goodbye forever.

I am a bit confused.
How can she provide picture time stamped from today, if she sent the package a week ago? Or did I miss something.
Title: Re: Fashion Style :muffin: Pony Scammer - Buyer Beware

The reason the mods are asking her to provide an image with proof is because she just sold another one on the sales forum that has not shipped yet since the auction just recently ended.

Oh god. :/

Similar situation. I recieved a PM from ponyadore2614 in response to my Wish List stating that she had some of the merchandise I was looking for. She gave me prices and shipping, and I sent the money across on PayPal instantly. She said it was posted before Easter, but 2-3 weeks later it is still not here. She said that the holidays had slowed down postage, but I've had little response to PMs lately and not been given any reassurance.

I'm going to have to take up a dispute now, and it's seriously upset me that I've been screwed with, especially after having such a difficult year.  :(

Huh, and there's someone on the merch board on some other pony site who was auctioning off a :muffin: Pony and is using the same photo as the one listed in the eBay listing who ships from Japan (http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4340.l2557&hash=item256f09fd46&item=160776715590&nma=true&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&rt=nc&si=8HvE4xmk0yoq6Cqzw2tOJiBgLQc%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc#ht_9298wt_1344). I want to advise all parties that are currently in a transaction with ponyadore to open a dispute immediately.  If your pony or ponies show up the claim can be canceled.

I am going to assume at this point since she is claiming she is leaving the community her transactions will not be completed.

This is just horrible... I had asked for images, and received the ones that were recently posted in the auction thread she had here on the Arena.. but I decided against bidding (just something seemed off, and clearly it was, and I'd rather save the little bit of money I have for other things). But USPS never really takes that long even with First Class/Parcel post.. I send/receive things like that all the time and even with a holiday it takes about the same time as priority mail... and only on rare occasions it takes a bit longer.. but never up to three weeks.

The :muffin: Pony hooves ponies go for a lot of money. With a seller refusing to post images and not saying who was winning the auction, the community has to be careful. The images were only being sent to people who PMed her. I just didn't want anyone to lose their money like I did.

I have been in contact with this seller since the 1st of april, and the item was supposed to arrive in 5-7 days. I waited 9 days and contacted them. They told me it would be here on Tuesday. It was not.  This was all done in very amicable PMs.

I hope you guys trust me. I'm sorry if I seem like some sort of horrible person, but I feel very very upset about this whole thing. No one likes to argue with anyone. No one likes to think that someone has done something wrong to them.

Guys, I honestly am sick to my stomach about this. I have lost sleep and cried over it.

I'm so sorry. For all of this.

I just wanted a :muffin: Pony. :(

Brightside, welcome to my day yesterday. I cried my eyes out most of the day. And now she's accusing me of spreading lies, but I"m not. My item is not here. I don't have a tracking number. I mean, what else was I supposed to do?

I am physically sick about this. No one likes confrontation. Everyone likes to hope for the best, you know?

I'm so sorry this happened to you. :( If you need to talk, I am here.

xkappax, don't be upset. I think your actions are justified and because of you, other people like myself and BrightSide are coming out to post other transactions this person has been involved with. If someone doesn't make a public announcement, there's no way the rest of the community can know.

Kappa, this is not your fault at all. You have every right to be worried and nothing this person has said makes sense. Domestic post does not take 3 weeks. Posting a photo to this site is no different than any other board. Even if posting an actual image doesn't work, links always do. People have caught on to what's happening and are asking legitimate questions, and now this person has suddenly decided we're all drama queens and flounced instead of providing any sort of proof of postage for any transactions. That's not generally the behavior of someone who's innocent and wants to clear their name and reputation.

There really is no reason a package would take nearly 2 weeks to get to you, even with holidays and even done First Class or Parcel Post. I do hope you can find yourself a :muffin: Pony D:! If I had one I would sell it to you in a heartbeat because of this whole mess... Please cheer up and feel better!

It's so vicious. Especially since this has affected a few of us.. I simply can't believe it would happen on a place so wonderful and pleasant as the Arena (must stop being so naive). I have been scammed before, years ago, and that felt awful enough.. now I have anxiety disorder among other problems, and I hadn't felt this bad since I was last discharged from the hospital.

Kappa, Dragonflitter, huge hugs to both of you. Please let me know how your disputes turn out.. we can help each other through this.

Edit: What on EARTH is the above??!! Oh my good gosh..  :(

Paypal nothing. Taking money from people and scamming them is a criminal offense, is it not? I wonder if ponyadore knows that this goes a bit beyond forum "trolling". :(

I really hope this same person above isn't the same two people selling :muffin: Ponies (both auctions already ended) on the merch board at some other pony site. The stock photos they used seem similar as does the lack of providing extra/proof pictures in the threads when prompted by people interested (the auctioneer keeps saying they'll email them private photos). Not to mention the way the person types seems similar to our lovely ponyadore here... Hopefully, I'm just being overly worried and no one on the other board gets scammed like the poor people here.

At least one person completed a trade with her as well, so I'm assuming her address is known. Perhaps the dumbest scammer ever. Have fun contesting your misdemeanor!

I feel so terrible you guys had to go through this. Hugs to you both and anyone else affected by this event.

You have the right to be sending them constant PMs about the items when it hasn't reached you get, unlike amazon or any other trusted store sites, you're dealing with someone that can up and out of here like they almost did to you guys. I hope you guys get your money back from this whore.

Also, its spelled Adieu, not ado.

They are, my friend. :( :( :( Contacted them yesterday. They wouldn't send pictures.

Ugh, disgusting. :( Hopefully nobody fell for it there and everyone who has already been burned gets their full refund. This scammer needs a swift kick to the arse.

Mods, you have the logged IP address of the thief. I suggest passing it and this other info on to the other MLP forum sites quickly to stop any other scams from that thief. Also include that info in any submissions to the police.

Yes, at least one member did complete a transaction with her.. so her address will be on record.

I have her full name and email address from PayPal.

I have also escalated my dispute to a claim on PayPal.

Ugh what a tit.

So sorry for the people who have been caught up in all this, I'm sure the perpetrator will totally get what is coming to them though. Karma IS a b1tch - don't think they'll find it so funny when they have to pay all the money back and possible be contacted by the authorities too. Idiot.

But...it goes to show the Arena has to be one of the best and safest places to be on the 'net. I mean, there is so much support here for everyone :) *ponyhugs all round :) *

I have edited the title of this thread and posted a warning in xkappax's original post. This member has been banned for attempting to scam several members. If you have sent ponyadore any payments through Paypal please file a claim immediately.

Ponyadore has only been a member since the first week of March so thankfully we are still within Paypal's 45 day limit.

Thank you xkappax for bringing this to our attention so quickly.

Whoa, what a mess. Such a pathetic, horrible person. I feel really bad for all parties involved. That Japan pic she posted is actually my :muffin: Pony, which I received safely this past Monday. Had I known earlier, I woul've raised heck on her sales thread. I'm glad that everyone here is banding together and shouldn't have a problem getting their money back.

Yep, and apparently, this person is pulling the same crap on a different pony sale website.  :enraged:

I KNEW IT!!  :enraged:  I entered a trade with her for some blind bags, and after being scammed by a 'newer member' in the past, my gut instinct was to make her ship out first and to only post hers once they had arrived. It's been just over a month since she allegedly shipped and there's no sign of them, no contact from her since 5 April and I now don't hold my hopes up for seeing them either. IF by some chance they do show up, they will be returned to sender.

I hope others are able to get their money back and if the mods want her address I will be more than happy to provide it.

Wow...I afk for a couple hours, come back to this.  Not only a scammer, but not very bright or mature...I hope everyone who was in a transaction with this person gets their money back!

Kappa I'm glad you at least have a custom, especially one by Hanna, she does awesome G4 customs :D  I know it's not the same, but I figured it helps at least a little.  I'll keep an eye out for one for you.  :)

(on a side note, I just looked at your deviantart gallery, prismatic, you have some GORGEOUS customs!)

Thank you, means a lot :) (reminds me I need to update that too...that's what I get for workimg so much overtime XD )

I agree with KaibaGirl007 and everyone. I hope everyone gets their money back also. This is sad. Ponyadore also contacted me about my wantlist. Saying she had near mint ponys for sale. I told her what about pictures? She pulled the "my camera is broken" excuse. I also questioned her about not having any feedback either. I am glad I went with my instincts and decided not to buy anything from her.

I was naive when I bought from her, you know? I wasn't an extremely active member of the forums. I've been a member since 2010, but only to try to get some ponies. I was always a little too shy to really post stuff.

I guess if one good thing came out of this for me, I guess it brought me out of my shell. :)

And I really don't think anyone has to worry about getting your money back if you paid through paypal. Especially not after the last colorful response that was left. Those smiley faces, translated into another language read "Hi, everyone is going to get their money back".

Thank you for all of your support and kind PMs and messages. Sincerely.

I still would like to get a :muffin: Pony, and it's sad that this one didn't work out, but tomorrow is another day. I could not let this go on anymore.

I am still sorry it had to go down like this, but what's done is done.

In my opinion, think about it like this: If it wasn't for your suspicion or this thread, she'd still be around scamming people. You basically helped the arena shine light on a scammer and because she got called out, she showed her true colors. So you've helped the arena greatly with this.

If it's like the G1 molds, it's the date the mold was made, not the pony itself.  My FS Fluttershy says 2010 too, but she came out in 2011.

I don't often look in this section of the arena otherwise I'd have posted sooner. *hugs* for everyone who has lost money, I really hope you get it back. And saply, you are such a sweetheart! It's so nice to see there are genuinely nice people in the world <3

I'm the one person who got their ponies from ponyadore successfully. She originally contacted me on etsy because she wanted to buy some of my stickers and she'd also seen a post of mine about trading some blind bag figures. Because my etsy store is on vacation mode at the moment, I asked her to contact me through the arena and we arranged a trade, swapped addresses as per usual. I was a bit worried because the package took a lot longer to arrive than usual and I realised that she had no feedback on here or etsy and I should have asked her to send her part first. However, she stayed in touch and I did later receive all the blind bags I was expecting.

I received an email from her this morning which says:

Quote
Hello, I just wanted to thank you again for the nice trade and let you know an unfortunate issue that happened today on MLP Arena. Apparently after we had done a trade 1 had gotten one more in before my account was hacked for a few weeks by someone living in the same home as me (my sister) I finally got in only to see she had hijacked my account and ticked everyone off on there it seems. Now they banned my account without even knowing this has happened thinking she's me and it's just all over mess.

Anyway, I had seen something about one of the members wanting to try and contact you since we did a trade and get my home address(which i seriously creepy?) but my sister does have her own address if need be I could provide. In any event I doubt you would just give someones out but just wanted to give a heads up. Thanks again :)

I've already given the address I posted to to ponylady yesterday - of course I wouldn't just give it out to just "anyone" (no offense!) but because she is a staff member with a reputation to uphold, I thought it was the right thing to do and I know you guys won't use it for anything other than reporting her or filing a CC chargeback.

So... I don't know whether she genuinely was "hacked" or whether this (and the gibberish post that says trolled blah blah blah she should be banned as if someone else wrote it) is just an excuse to try and cover her back? I'm posting it here just to keep you guys in the know. I'm assuming she's probably keeping tabs on this thread and will see that I've done this but that shouldn't be a problem if she genuinely has nothing to hide. I don't know whether to reply or not..? I feel bad now, she seemed like a nice person when I spoke to her so I kinda want to believe that she was hacked but it really doesn't make a lot of sense (especially with the stolen photos :/). I really hope it gets resolved for everyone. :(

There are still some people that missed out on items because of this person, regardless of whether it was her, her sister, or whatever.

Is there any way we can get a list of what people missed out on / were promised so that we can all help them find what they're looking for.

Someone was kind enough to sell me their :muffin: Pony, I want to help make the others who lost out happy, too.

I don't think she was really hacked. I think that she only did one actual trade so that way she would have that positive feedback, and people would trust her more easily so she could steal from them. :(

Wow.   I've been following this whole thread since it exploded yesterday.  I feel so sorry for Ponyadore; she clearly needs some love in real life or had poor parenting.  Either way, what she did was completely wrong and I am sorry for everyone who had to go through all the excitement of potential ponies and letdown of being scammed.

Normally, I don't ask this kind of thing, but seeing as how I (and many others!) have an Etsy store, I feel it's important to know.  Can we please have her last name and city? I want to be able to refund any payments she may make to me so I don't have to deal with her. If you don't feel comfortable posting it publicly, would someone be so kind as to PM it to me? I will respect your wishes to keep it private and won't share.

Thanks!

Yeah, that's exactly what I thought. None of it makes any sense, but I feel awful thinking that because of the small chance that she may be telling the truth and her sister really is that horrible. But then, there's still the issue of her not being able to provide photos of :muffin: Pony and getting hold of another one at a later date despite how ridiculously rare she is, which makes me doubt her story again. Ugh, the whole thing is just making me feel bad. I don't know what to think. :C

Eskara, I'll PM you.
Title: Re: Member ponyadore2614 Scammer - Buyer Beware

Just think that it's over. No one has to deal with her again. I'm not one to hold grudges. I just want everyone to get their money back and for everyone to be aware that this sort of thing happens.

I will feel terrible about all of this if she is telling the truth, but... if she is, and her sister is to blame, it doesn't change the fact that we were all scammed by SOMEONE.

this is the internet. A magical place where anyone can pretend to be anything they want. You can never be too careful with this sort of thing, unfortunately.

Claiming someone in your house took hold of your account is first thing they teach you in Scammer 101. I have seen it literally hundreds of times. Don't buy it for a second, guys. There is no sister.

The reason she contacted tinrobo with that fake story is because she IS reading this thread, and she saw that some people here have her address and the police were mentioned. Immediately after those posts were made in this thread, she contacted the one person she had a successful transaction with, in order for that person to come here and 'clear her name' with this fake story about a sister hacking her account. And she would have no doubt given you a fake address of this sister, in order to make the whole situation even more confusing, and try to get people to look elsewhere so she can avoid getting in trouble.

Don't believe her, she's just in a panic mode because she's realizing how much trouble she can be in.

I sincerely hope people who are on the Arena and other sites are keeping a look out and PLEASE alert other mods and bidders of her auctions/sales threads! Communication is key in these situations! We don't want people from other sites to get scammed, especially if she's trying to pretend to sell more :muffin: Ponies, which go for so much money right now.

Edit: I found one. Sending it to her when it arrives!

Thank you so much sweetie :lovey: You are so very kind.. :)  At least we are slowly becoming closer to the end of this mess. I feel sorry for those who cannot get hold of their items, but the Arena is such a wonderfully supportive place, it's all anyone could wish for.

I agree with this TEN THOUSAND PERCENT! If being a mod at PI taught me anything, it's that every scammer has a sister/brother/cousin/friend/neighbor/pet chinchilla who magically has access to all of their accounts to wreak havoc. Yep, the sock puppet excuse.

And concerning :muffin: Pony! It turned out okay for me, but SoSilver is still out a :muffin: Pony! So if anyone's got one, SoSilver should get one, as should saply for her amazing kindness.

I swear saply, I am going to find a way to repay you for what you have done for me. :)

Hey guys,
I just wanted to alert you that ponyadore was trying to do this same scam on another MLP forum (a site dedicated to G4's). I posted there last night about the "coincidence" and since then the mods and admin over there have found that not only is she almost certainly the same person, she posted there under 10 different names to shill bid on her auction or post even more :muffin: Pony sales. She also stole another user from that forum's :muffin: Pony pics, the ones that she was sending to people here. So this person is a pernicious liar and will probably try to get back in here too.  Keep your guard up for high priced items, especially G4 items from new users.

Considering the sheer size of her scam, if everyone who was ripped off decided to contact the police with the amount of money she either took or attempted to take, she could be charged with a felony if the total tops a certain amount.

Yes, that is the forum that i saw her selling on, too. I bid on one of her auctions before I knew it was her and I was outbid as soon as I requested pictures. The auction ended early on that site, too.

I have more emails she's sent to me to post here in reply to some of the things being said in this thread but I'm not going to because her account is banned and it's not my place to post on her behalf. Unless a mod requests it, I wouldn't bother posting any of her emails if I was you. It's just going to be more lies and more attempts to confuse the situation.

I am SO THANKFUL people in this community are looking out for fellow fans on other sites. :) You guys are all awesome. Hopefully she realizes soon that she will always be caught when people here are on alert for her, and she turns her attention to some other place.

The scammer's indignation in the beginning is very common with these types of scammers. They try to guilt trip you into thinking you're the bad ones. That's what she was doing.

As far as the second post yeah, she might try to claim her id was hijacked.

But first, I think anyone who has gotten scammed by this person should be given her full name & address.

Also, I think her full name should be posted here. She will most definitely change her ids, but a name will stand out if one of us see's her on Ebay again.

I just don't think the name should be kept secret. It's only allowing her to continue scamming through other revenues.

And just so everyone knows, if you get arrested for something your full name AND full address gets put in the local newspaper and online. They do this to protect citizens that might have had contact with the criminal.

For people that have the name and info, try searching around online. Maybe she has a history.

Anywho, just my worthless two cents. How many people total has she scammed? How much total money? It's early enough so that everyone will get their money back right?

Best of luck to all of you. So sorry about this :-( The lady is a loser.

This is true. My hometown police department has it's own Facebook page (I think that's pretty standard these days) and they do weekly reports each weekend with the full name AND a photo of all people they arrest for that week. Any person can go on facebook and see these people.

However, it's a bit trickier in situations like this, where the culprit might be a minor. (Seems likely given her immature behavior.) I know I would feel horrible if something bad came from putting a minor's name or contact info online, no matter what she did to deserve it. >.<

If the name she is using is what is used on her Ebay account then it's her or at the very very least her parents. Nowadays it's almost impossible to make a fake Ebay account and Paypal account.

Also, a full name doesn't really put anyone in danger. Anyone can go on Facebook or MyLife and get full names instantly. I don't know why people think that if someone has your full name you are going to get attacked or have your identity stolen.

Even if you don't use EBay you can't fake a Paypal name. So if people sent her money they'd have her actual name.

Oh and she has to be 18 to have a Paypal account, unless she's using her parents account.

Pretty much what's been said above. Hopefully this cad gets her comeuppance and if she does turn off to be a minor, a nice big chat with her mother/father regarding how she shouldn't be a conman because it is bad bad bad.  :stressed:

I hate to disagree but no you do not have to put your real name.  It could be a cousin, a brother, grandma, neighbor, your business name, your cat, whatever.

I actually just went and created another account under a complete mix-up of my name and my parents address but with my real social and birthdate. And it worked.  All paypal cares about is that they can match my social to my birthdate.  So as long as her birthdate and social security number match they do not care what she has her name as.

I thought the "sender" name for packages sent via PayPal had to match up with the bank account name used to verify the PP account?  :what:  Well, that is of course assuming she used her bank account to verify her PP account and not one of the other methods.

I am not so sure about that, under my real account I have my shipping address as my business name and my personal bank account is linked to it with my husband's name because he is the main account holder.

And he is no where listed on my Paypal or ebay account.

You apparently do not need to have a verified/confirmed Paypal account to receive payments. The only way you can be sure it is her real name is if you are selling something to her and it says "Confirmed" next to the name and address. This means it's been confirmed with the bank that it is a verified shipping address for the user.
Example:
visitors can't see pics , please register or login

I'm not sure how else you can check if it is verified since you don't see their address when buying from them.
Title: Re: Member ponyadore2614 Scammer - Buyer Beware
Post by: RockinPrettyBeats on April 20, 2012, 07:09:36 PM
In response to the name conversation even if it is "fake" (which I don't think it is if people got it off paypal - if she ever paid anyone that is) it's good to have the fake name as well. Going back to the crime in the newspaper example if someone goes by pseudo names the police beat will state something along the lines of:

Ashley Focker was arrested for stealing cigarettes from a store. She lives at xxx California street. She goes by several pseudo names including: Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and David Copperfield.

So it's still nice to have the pseudo name that people are so sure are fake (although I really think it's real. This girl is not a thinker).

Of course I don't really care that much. I'm just trying to think of ways to help this person not come back. It's SO easy to just made another id, come to this forum and then use the exact same name and address cause no one will be looking out for it.

All she would have to do is join, play low for a month and avoid the people that she already scammed. These people do this because they are sociopaths and really just don't care.

I wouldn't count on her not being smart enough to get around that. It's easy to fake an IP these days, so just remember to be wary about buying high-value items from sellers with low feedback and ask for a picture first.

I'm sure they're aware, unfortunately. If someone's a scammer on one website, they've probably done it on another and have tried to rejoin some of them. The only thing we can all do at this point is make sure the seller has feedback from trusted members, ask for new pictures and be sure that payments are not sent as a gift in case there are issues.  If you are selling to someone, a confirmed Paypal address would be a bonus as well, but I know that can be harder in some countries than others.  :)

I checked my etsy records and I sent to the same name being used now back in June 2011. Unless she hasn't changed it in that time I think it is her real name. Her emails don't have that name as the sender though, just initials like G F or D V.

I also notice that account has been deleted since yesterday. :p

This just came up in the thread for help on those who were scammed by Ponyadore, but I thought it was important enough to post here too.

I can't believe we've forgotten about the IC3! Go to ic3.gov (http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx) and file a complaint. IC3 is the Internet Crimes Complaint Center, a branch of the FBI. They take these reports seriously and do go after the scammer.  Even if you get your money back from PayPal, you should file a report with them. A crime was committed, and she will continue to scam the community unless serious action is taken.

I was scammed on eBay once, filed a complaint, and they caught the guy and sent him to jail 6 years later! I also had the opportunity to attend the court hearings AND file a claim for the amount of money he took from me. The IC3 kept me updated on everything; they even let me know the sentance- 4 years in jail.  And all of this was over a $60 text book.

No offense but I really think everyone needs to stop even considering that it's "her sister".

It's just a way to derail any kind of action. It's very silly. Seriously, it doesn't make any sense. I know I wasn't the one scammed but I just think in order to continue on with action these confusing sidetracks of "Maybe it's not her real name" or "Maybe it was her sister" or "Maybe someone broke into her house and used her computer to do scams" are all things that will do nothing but help the scammer.

Please, she's not even trying very hard. She made up a random plan to make it look like it wasn't her by posting that bizarre post with all caps and it backfired.

There's no conspiracy, there's no "other person" and the only victims are the people who are in this thread.

Oh and the only criminal is ponyadore. No one else.

Eskara - That's a great story and excellent advice. I think the victims should take a good look at what you posted.

I don't believe for a moment that it was her sister, considering she's lied to me about everything else since the beginning of this.

You always think about yourself in situations like this and say "what if this was me and what if I were on the receiving end of this and no one was believe me"... but then again, if it were me caught up in this, I certainly wouldn't have posted a troll message. And I certainly would have tried to work with the mods here to catch whoever was impersonating me.

Ditto to everything RPB said!

And, to sooth the conscience of those who may be concerned about a "sister," if you file a report with the IC3, they WILL figure out who was the real scammer and go after the correct person.  Provide the information you have and they will discover the truth behind the most likely non-existant sister.

I would take Eskara's advice and file a report.

There are two confirmed mailing addresses for this person. And I dug up a third.  There are also two different spellings of her name and the supposed sister.  So make sure they are all reported.  The Feds will figure it out.

If any of those involved need either of the names or addresses please contact me and I will email them to you.

I also had the opportunity to attend the court hearings AND file a claim for the amount of money he took from me. The IC3 kept me updated on everything; they even let me know the sentance- 4 years in jail.  And all of this was over a $60 text book.

Done.

She has scammed various people, and not just that but internationally: I am from the UK and T.L.Squiggles is from Australia, I'm not sure about the other victims. It's serious enough to need this extra protection.

I feel bad if it really was her sister :( But I definitely feel worse for everyone who was scammed out of money or ponies. Hope this whole big mess gets sorted out!

I know I know, you're probably right, but I can't forget the old saying "innocent until proven guilty". ^^;

It's ok to feel that way.

Noone wanted to go around sligging names around till there was actually proof of her aliases.

She was stopped in her tracks before she could cause anymore trouble.  That is the most important thing.  And now everyone needs to compare notes and properly fill out the paperwork and file claims with Paypal.

I think Ponyadore's avatar should be changed to this after this whole situation. ;)

Don't look if you haven't watched the royal wedding episode yet. :)

Seriously, did that episode remind anyone of a certain situation that happened on here that may or may not be related to this thread?

This is good advice :bigups:  dont let this person get away with her criminal activities! file a report and  if there is really a sister, it will be found out... if there isnt then "ponyadore" will suffer the consequences of what she has done.

Read this yesterday, was interested in :muffin: Pony, but it was a lot of money for a single pony so decided to not even follow the bidding.

Her attitude left a lot to desire... and answers.  Her note saying she'll leave the arena?  What was with that?  If something happened, I'd try to know and resolve what's wrong instead of just saying:  "The arena memebers are a bunch of drama queens over a small thing, so I'll just leave them to their drama and go other place" (not textual, but that's the idea, right?)

Ponyadore also argued that her "sister" hacked into her computer to do this scams, right?  But then... did her sister also has access to her whole accounts (email, paypal, etc.), that's fishy.  Also...  I don't know how many let all accounts open and free access to anyone accessing the computer, and as far as I remember, you receive an e-mail to your e-mail account when you have a PM (or that's only an option preference?  Can't remember and lazy to check =X).

I'd feel bad if it was -really- the case, but her not wanting to work with the mods, not wanting to post pics ('unable' to post the pics, but posting another pics) to show the pony, from the start, makes me really doubt the existence of said "sister".  And even if her sister exists, is Ponyadore so innocent (trusting?) to never check her accounts to see strange/new messages?  Then... why she could check and post from her work?

And now she must be really sweeting at what she has done, not only to the community in the material sense, money in the end cames and goes, but emotionally, thankfully showing that here is an amazing place, and for her karma really is a **** and she's going to meet her.

Eskara, and that over a text book?  That really shows some people are stupid enought to think they can get away even with a "small" thing =S

Not only this, but she was posting for several days about her other :muffin: Pony auction on the other pony site. Combined with her auction here, it was about 4 days of running this scam over multiple websites. Supposedly all her "sister" with ponyadore conveniently unaware of the only posts made from her accounts and IP address during that time. In fact, ponyadore had less than 20 posts here, so technically almost of them would have been the "sister" since they were primarily related to the auction scam and so would the registration, which means that ponyadore never even posted here herself??? But then as soon as she was banned, within an hour she was aware of everything and emailing tinrobo about how it wasn't her, it was her "sister" for the past four days... Yeah, not buying it. Her story is so full of holes it should be a crocheted cardigan.

This for sure ^^  when you look at it like that, everything about this situation with her sounds very dodgy.  The "it wasnt me it was someone else hacking my account" excuse is something a lot of trolls/bad traders/scammers etc  use   :(

Oh well. I'm simply glad that things are eventually resolved.

No, I sent the money as a gift, so I can't file a claim. At least I've learned a tough lesson.

It's not a problem! I want to help out. I think it's safe to say that I can empathize with the people that didn't get their items. :(

So, Starlite, if you are still looking for what was promised to you, contact me or post in the thread I directed you to a few posts previous and we'll see if we can find it for you.

Starlite that's terrible

I am wondering if you could phone Paypal and explain the situation.  I am sure if you can give them her details they can look into itleast for you, considering the amount of people she scammed.  It wouldn't hurt to try.

And thanks Kappa for updating your thread.
