I made such a list for sh... and giggles a while ago. Including all gens and not counting if the pony is in my collection or not.
Of course the list is ever changing, but right now (in no particular order):
10 - Raincurl (G1) - one of my childhood ponies

Do you see a pattern? I seem to enjoy nautical themed ponies, blue and yellow and plant themed ponies.

I have trouble playing favourites and I often switch between ponies I really like at that moment for whatever reason...but I've tried to make a ten that have significance to me somehow in terms of nostalgia or other reasons. So these are more ponies that have special meaning. They're in no particular order.
Magic Star
Cherries Jubilee ("C.J")
Paradise
These three were the main characters of one of the first proper stories I ever wrote as a kid. Magic Star is the UK version. Paradise technically doesn't exist - but a deflocked one would work. These days Brazilian Paradise fills that hole in my life. Cherries Jubilee is the 1985 regular edition and a childhood pony. Magic Star was one of my favourite ponies growing up and that I really wanted but didn't have. I do remember a friend's brother had her though when we were at primary school, so I *did* know she existed ;)
Windy (Rainbow)
My first ever pony, 1984.
Sunburst (Mountain Boy)
My first adult boy pony, bought for me as a 'first gift' from my newborn baby sister by my mother in 1987.
Rainbow Magic (Rainbow Curl)
Bought when my mother was first diagnosed, the pony I chose because she could grant wishes and I wanted to wish to make my mother better.
G3 original Rainbow Dash
Pony I graduated with in 2003. I chose her because she was a rainbow pony, like Windy, and I made her a graduation hat and gown too. I was originally sent one from the US but she didn't arrive, so I thought I wouldn't get to graduate with her, but my friend in Stoke found them at her TRU weeks before my ceremony and so got me one. In the end the US one turned up 6 months later. I still have her in her box as a memento. Rainbow Dash signifies my graduation, the rainbow pony legacy, and the support of kind people to get her to my graduation ceremony with me. It might seem no big deal for most people to graduate university, but I had so many obstacles throughout my degree that it was truly a special day.
Fluttsi (Aka CMM Fluttershy/Flutter Magic)
The newest pony on the list - bought for me as a mascot for good luck before I went to Japan last year by my sister. Very special for that reason, definitely the queen of my G4 ponies.

Medley
The ponies I wished for as a child but had to wait to be an adult to finally get.
I am sure there are many others. Baby Shady almost made the list as she was sent to me as a Sweet 16 birthday present by my first ever trade partner because I told her I loved and always wanted a Baby Shady. And the ponies I had from my childhood friend because they have lots of memories in my life.
But I guess we'll go with these ten. Since I can't pick favourites, I guess this is as close as I can get ;)

I loved the ones my sister, cousin and other friend had when we were kids: Lemondrop, Galaxy, Gypsy, Honeycomb and Snuzzle. As an adult I love Majesty, Twilight, Glory, Medley, Wind Whistler, Ice Crystal. These are the ones that really felt special when they arrived so I must have a thing about ponies in cool colours! I want to make the adult list up to ten so im adding Powder, Bubbles and Cascade. Moonjumper so nearly made it!

What an agonizing question. I'll restrict myself to Ponies I actually own just to make this a bit easier one me, but man did this question remind me of why I like G3 so much. So many amazing colors. :lol:
In no particular order:
Waterfire (G3), the stunning colors on her never cease to amaze me and the name is awesome.
Honey Rays (G4), probably one of the nicest G4s I have gotten, her hair is in great shape and I love the yellow-orange color! The charm wings are cute too.
Cotton Candy (G1), I love the sweet simplicity of her design.
Merriweather (G3), one of the ponies that really spurred me into collecting. I love her cheerful yellow body and the G3 Sparkle Pony set is one of my favorites.
Abra-ca-dabra (G3), the witch costume she came with is the best.
Cool Breeze (G1), such a refreshing green, and I like the Wingers a lot.
Cupcake (G1), you would not believe how gorgeous the flocking on mine is.
Periwinkle (G3), I got her very recently and the gradient blue hair and white body is just STUNNING.
Tossles (G1), I like the slightly shorter tails in this set and the mellow colors. I love the way I got the hair on mine to come out.
Dazzleglow (G1), I found the blue-hearts variant, one my first rare finds! Transparent ponies are really cool looking too, and pretty uncommon throughout Hasbro's various bizarre gimmicks.

Ten? Only ten? Oh dear... is that even possible? I think that the idea of restricting the selection to ponies I actually own is a good one as it narrows it down. And I will stick to G1 only. Buuut ten? Really?

As a child, Lofty, Masquerade, Bubbles, Dust Rose and Mimic was my favorite ponies from the tv show. My best friends older sister had an Apple Jack that I was so jealous about, so she was a childhood grail.
When I started collecting I took a liking to Tiddlywinks, Sweet Scoops and Rainbow Curl Ringlets.
And my newest favorite is Pinkie Pie, she's just really fun!
Can you tell I'm stuck with the yellow winged ponies? ;-)
