Title: Sweetheart Sisters Nirvana?
Post by: freezestime on February 22, 2019, 12:45:37 AM
Hi! I hope this is the correct forum!

Has anyone ever seen any variations of the Sweetheart Sister ponies? I mean, there are hundreds of variations for the other ponies so there might be?

I doubt there is any. By the date the Sisters were released, Hasbro stopped using local factories (at least in Europe) and ponies begin to be made in China as of that moment.

I think Argentina kept making some ponies until the 90s (Drink 'n Wet Ponies, Rockin' Beat Ponies), but no Sisters so far :wonder:

But I'm not an expert and its possible that someone can give you a better answer.

It's an interesting question. The fakies may appear in the corral in discussions on fakies. I don't collect fakies so am not sure...

I think there were rumours for a long time about a white Starflash because of how she was drawn in the comics, but it was just that the photo made her look really pale and artists mistook her blue for white for some reason.

If there are variants for these sets they'll be tiny batch related ones, not Nirvana ones. And even though there are still variants between national releases for other sets from around this time (Eg Playtime babies as the obvious), not all the SHS were sold everywhere, and even the ones that were, although ours were sold in boxes and not on card, seem to have been the same as the ones overseas.  (THe UK had two sets of four SHS total out of all of the SHS pose ponies, and I think that was the same for most European countries, so that reduces the possibility of variation quite a lot!)

There's a uniformity among pony releases more or less in Europe once the bordered packages come in. Things change then and there are fewer variations between countries. There are still some Europe/US ones and still some ponies sold in some European countries and not others, but everything is much more mainstream in the nineties than it was in the eighties :) Possible that's to do with international trade arrangements, but I don't know.
