Title: The Last Unicorn PVC figure (to order now)
Post by: ColdRuru on June 25, 2018, 03:25:45 PM
Hi!
One of my favorite sculptor, who also works for Breyer, did a "Last Unicorn" for the geek site Thinkgeek.
And I share with you, because I bet there's a lot of fans here too?!

Have fun

I like the care instructions.  ;)

I'd buy, but I think it's a little pricey for me at this time.

Lovely statue!

Very cool!

I do wish it cost just a bit less-

Although I would probably pay that much- for $50 it would have to be a little more perfect, and the coloring is wrong somehow. (this is the coloring I'd prefer):

But it is a very pretty sculpt!!!

And I do love the Last Unicorn.  I hope we see a lot more Last Unicorn merch now that the license is in use!

Maybe years from now I will kick myself for passing...

I want to like her.. but something isn't right-- The colors are too heavy for me, I think. And her expression doesn't look as sad. (But that could be changed with the paint job)

:( Ah this bums me out.

I think the price is fair (for collecting PVC figures, they can easily goes for $100 & more).
Also, I think the colors are a bit too dark too, and I may touch up the whole things depending on how it will looks for real.
But I understand why you're picky. In the end, the fact that she's sculpted by one of my favorite artist helped a lot in my final decision to take it

I love Kristina's work. My favorite sculpture of her's would probably be the breyer Mariah

Saddly I don't really do classic scale, but yes the Mariah model is wonderful. I've got Star of Orion, he's also a stunner (that remind me I need to post my AR/breyer collection here  )

I love the Last Unicorn but the eyes are throwing me off. I don't like that it's red on the sides...
It's still gorgeous however :)

It’s beautiful! I’ve only recently watched the last unicorn for the first time in my life. I’d buy it simply because I love unicorns, but it’s a matter of finding the money and a place to put the figure.

TLU is my favourite movie! I was obsessed as a child. I like the sculpt but not the paint job. I wish there was more TLU merch and figures released. I am tempted to have a go at sculpting my own this summer.

Well mine was suppose to arrive by today, but UPS seems not to have found my address, so I'm super angry and they said they would bring it tommorrow. Riiight, but I'm not sure I'm going to be at home, it was today that I blocked :cloud:

Well, to go back to the paint work, I wait to see it in real, somethimes you are really surprise by the tones. And in the end, I truly loves it already on the stock pictures. The eyes are perfect to me.

It's a lovely representation. But I agree with others, the paint is quite dark. Throw a butterfly on there with her, I might be more swayed, lol.

Well I hope you get her soon! Please share a photo when she finally arrives?

Got it!
I get myself to the warehouse of UPS because I do not trust them :pout:
And I was right! They said my address was wrong (wich seems not fair to thinkgeek as they notified the right one in my order), and when I read it on the box it was the right one (they said it was written boulevard in place of street in the box, but no, no, it was written street). Without a doubt, there's a lazy delivery guy behind this.

But well, that's said...

I just LOVE her. Yes the colors are definely more dark than the pastel hues she usually gets, but it didn't bother me in the end. She's perfect her way.
And the eyes are the most beautiful ones I ever saw!

She's definely a good price/quality rate, the sculpture is the top and the paint the weak point. But as a PVC figure collector, I really appreciate the effort put on it for the price.

Also, the box is a bit cheap on the print but definely very well designed!

Will do better pictures in real life one day or another, I'm over the moon now!
ALSO, the sculptor let us know on her page it's a best seller for ThinkGeek and that's she may sold out fast.

Oh wow- she is much prettier in your IRL photos than the promo shots!

I feel like I could probably repaint her horn and hooves at least....

I might just get her after all now!

I feeled like the promo shots were a bit odd, and I was right! She's like you said, way more beautiful in real!

Love your photos, thanks for posting them.  :)

I do have a question:

What is under her front hoof on the base?  Is that a peg?  The website says she can be displayed off the base, but if that is a peg then it wouldn't work..

Thanks!

Post by: ColdRuru on June 28, 2018, 01:39:32 PM
Yes it's a peg. And she can stand without the base, even with the peg.
I just painted her peg green to have it less visible. I do not clicked it, because it's hard to do it and I don't want to break it when having the unicorn off the base (wich is something I'm going to do for outdoor shootings). ALSO I'm pretty sure it can be cut off, the unicorn will be still standing on the base without it.

She is truly amazing and a friend of mine who saw it on fcbk said to me when we were riding today "your new figure it reminded me an old D.A... the last unicorn" and I said "yes it's because it's her". So you see? "Random" people recognize it!

She's gorgeous! Thanks for the photos, she looks much better than the promo photos. I was hesitant because of the dark paint and the exchange rate makes her $70 for me  but shipping was decent and the box art is beautiful so I decided to go for it. The Last Unicorn has been my favorite movie my entire life so I had to go for it.

Wow! That is a decent price too. Hubby works at EB Games and they often get ThinkGeek items. He is now in unicorn watch duty. ;)

Wow! I would love to have her, but the shipping is stupid. If I ever see her in person though, that will be a different story.

Thanks you! The products pics really don't make her justice!

Why don't you try to found other people in your country who wants her and do a group order?
